Ok stay with me for a second. I've got a 34 scavy I want to pursue. But I also want to level a buffer with me (for obvious reasons). Yea I know I could join a clan but I still want one. I was thinking of leveling an SE... Heals plus some very important buffs and Empower seems to help my spoils, then theres Vamp, focus and death whisper... Should make a perfect Duo I think. THoughts? I know i'll miss Haste but I'll just buy pots for it.
Yeah SE, for the vr actually. Lots of the best mat spoils in terms of quantity are all in the catas. Pole with teh scavy and SE healing. Only problem is eventually the SE will not be a good healer. The BH has so many hp's and your little heals will be underwhelming.
In the long run though the SE can help level other alts as well. The emp and wild magic buffs will be great if you go nuker route.
A spoiler will run out of MP without a recharger, an EE don't have VR or any DD related buffs, so simple much as that, SE is what you need as already said. There is nothing else to consider for a BH.
Empower helps the spoil? It's not a magic skill, so I would doubt it. I've had BH's in my parties that felt better with empower, but I never noticed any difference in the spoil rate.
If you have the time and patience, make both a Prophet and SE on the 2nd account. They're pretty easy to level up to 44. Having full prophet/SE buffs for a BH (or any other class for that matter) is beneficial. With the prophet at 44 you'll have Beserk, Bless the Body/Soul, and Haste which will all help the BH.
When I'm playing my lowbie melee characters, I first buff with the 45 prophet (Beserk, BtB, BtS, Haste, HP Regen), and then log in the 70 SE for the rest of the buffs and to heal.
SE, if you don't have any recharger friends. Otherwisely WC. On the other hand, knowing an EE pays off as Boxed WC and live EE make for a good backdrop for poling to a decently high level, and the EE will have more MP for you than an SE might.
Then again, dedicated parties are hard to come by these days - as are EEs.
Nothing increases the chance of Spoil landing. Not shots, not buffs, not the time of day, day of the week, phase of the moon, nothing.
Simply the level of the skill vs the level of the mob.
He is right, god knows who told u emp helps with spoil rates but lmao....
Has anyone ever proved it wrong? In my experience, I have noticed that with empower the chances of spoil landing seems to increase. Empower does not effect the rate at which mobs turn blue, only the rate at which spoil lands. Generally this is only done when fighting mobs that are red to the spoiler.
I would suggest running an experiment where you spoil 100 mobs with normal buffs. Be sure that these mobs are red to you, so spoil does not land every time. After killing 100 mobs and recording how many times spoil landed (not how many times the mob turns blue), kill 100 more of the same mob with the added buff of empower.
I may just test that. SE all the way though, I use to level my BH buffless (oh yes, completely buffless) popping heal pots all the time, you get VR and a couple good SE buffs and you almost never need healing. And the recharges let you go non stop.
I leveled my BH with an SE.. all the way to 76+ imo was a good choice. WC would be my second choice, although their buffs lag behind a bit and they don't get recharge.. it is nice to have haste.
no one TOLD me that emp helps, but i would swear it does, laugh all u want
I have a level 68 Bounty Hunter and I have tested this theory out. Spoil is considered a physical attack. From what I have seen zerk helps, along with a BD in party, but not empower.
Nothing helps towards spoil, no buffs what so ever, ONLY thing who affects the skill even a slightly bit is atk speed related buffs as you can spoil faster.
Thats it no buffs, specially NOT mage related and specially not empower. And by the way I know my class to well.
I wish all drops this subject about 'empower' helps it doesn't seriously just because you 'FEEL' like it's true doesn't meen it's true, go and do a test, and before you say it, yeah about 1000-2000 mobs would do to do the test with somewhat clear result, aka NONE.
I have a lvl 70 BH and levelved it almost all the way with a PP. Sine the advent of mana pots running out of MP has almost never been a problem. You just need to hunt the right places. The BH/PP combo worked very well indeed for me.
I 100% agree that NOTHING effects spoil rate success. (Remember Spoil is a two part process: One you have to successfully spoil the mob and two it's has to turn blue.)
See... I am hearing people denying that empower helps, but they arent proving it. Run the test that I mentioned earlier. Post the results. Just make sure that the mob you choose doesnt have a spoil rate of 100% for you.
I've heard the same from some people, but I don't really think Empower helps. I've tried many times out of curiosity and all I could come up with is, it must be a coincidence. Sometimes it seems like it works, other times it seems I fail more.
Either way, i'm just waiting for Pirotesa to cue in with the same worn out mantra.
I don't really feel the need to conduct a test to satisfy your curiosity for any reason. I know what I know. And what I know comes from the expereince of playing a BH to level 70. If you choose to doubt me or want to prove me wrong please by all means run whatever test you want.

I'll not waste my time.
Your refusal to prove me wrong indicates that you are not confident. I am sure someone else will do the test.
I've tested it before, I can honestly say, I didn't notice any effect with Empower. Besides, spoil is a physical skill and not magical. There would be no reason it even should be affected. So trying to prove a negative seems a bit silly here.

What sort of testing did you do? Was the spoil land rate (not how often it turns blue) above 75% without empower? If it was then your results are not going to be obvious either way.
You can say that it is a physical skill all you want, but that doesnt mean jack. Would you think that cubic land rate would be effected by soulshots? I know that the para cubic is. How does that make sense? Cubics are magic based.
When I was testing it out, I was fighting red mobs with about 25% success rate in landing spoil. Empower did nothing to improve that figure. I've played my BH up to lvl 60 and I can honestly say I'm convinced without a shadow of a doubt that it doesn't help having empower.
You can hang onto your theory if you want. You can doubt my personal experience and that is fine too. But It will be hard to convince someone to try to Prove that Empower Doesn't do anything when there is no reason to believe it Does do anything.
Prove to me that OE'ing weapons "doesn't" work better in the church... while /socialbow spamming and crossing all your toes and finger while you click rapidly 3 time on the garbage bin.

And I assume you were reading the system message to see if it succeeded or not.

As I said before... physical or not has nothing to do with it. The para cubic has a much much higher land rate when using soul shots. Thats not a physical skill, but it is effected by physical modifing items.

If oeing wasnt as expensive as it is then I would. I am not going to waste millions or even billions to get a good test sample. Provide me with all of the weapons and enchants and I will be glad to prove / disprove it.
