Ok there was a time where this trade skill was considered overpowering.... Umm ok, it's perfectly acceptable for toons to walk around 1 shotting each other but a trade skill is overpowered? (complain rant yada yada)
Lets set that aside for a moment. When castle owners can make adena off crafters at a 15% tax rate watching them buy 3-4Billion pieces of ore every week and collect off of that ... How can the trade skill be considered overpowered? I mean really... Giran Castle owner's on atleast one server (probably several) have to have ALTS just to hold their adena and yet my paltry little trade skill is overpowered?
I can understand ... not wanting us to have this skill but how the hell can you justify letting castle owners get such a large take like that. I am one Crafter ... JUST ONE and I am currently donating updwards of 15Million adena in taxes alone every bloody week. So ok, dont give us a trade skill but dont give our hard work to the castle owners either. That's not bloody right. Have a place that sells ore at base rates. Does that not make any sense?
It just ticks me off to no end knowing that while I am making 5% or so off of my crafts Giran is making 15% and there isn't a **** thing I can do about it. I don't mean any disrespect to the Guild(s) that own these strategic locations at all.. I just don't see why it's considered perfectly acceptable but getting my trade skill is not.
Yeah ... I was also going to state (but waiting for other's to reply first) add your own "When are dwarves getting..." to this topic. While my post has to do directly with the economic's of the game and where dwarves are intended to shine but are sorely lacking ... your's addresses a fundamental problem many of us have overall.
We don't get any love from the developers. Hell even our level 80 skill is ....
Our trade skill at various levels (was meant to start at 52 with 5% I believe) allows us to bypass part of the npc shop prices. It may also effect trade in player shops but I was unclear on that really since I've been waiting since prelude for them to implement it.
They decided not to (altho it may be implemented in the Korean version) because it was considered to be to damaging to the games econemy. But how can that be so now? Things were fine before we had the two new towns as it meant that dwarven village had a base rate that was unaffected by a tax. Since it now falls under the same rules as other towns you really have no choice but to buy ore from Giran Or Oren (provided Oren is lower) BUT, the castle owner reaps large benifits from this so much so it's just staggering to think of... and I guarantee you it's 2-3x what the crafter makes X 100/1000 (depending on how many shot crafters exist on any given server)
This will probably get flamed, but here are my .02 cents on the matter.
Personally I both HATE and Respect dwarfs. I hate them when I played them, I hate them when they Fail my 60% crafts, those are the times I wish I could string them up by their ****** outside town. I hate than cause they naturally have more Buy/Sell slots, bigger Intentory space, more Weight capacity, etc, etc.
But, I Respect anyone who actually plays such a Gimp class.
Personally, I wish that Warsmiths had the ability to keep say 1/4 of the mats that they used to craft something when the craft failed (minus the recipe ofcourse). But at least That would give a worthy reason for wanting to play a Warsmith.
Bounty Hunters need a better spoil base than what it is.
Is any of that ever gonna happen, I rather doubt it, but that's how I feel.
I don't see why It can't happen. If Ncsoft can create a new race they can surely fix the problems with some of L2's weakest links. (this is not exclusive to dwarves either). I mean the big thing many of us hear is it's not in our hands it's all dependant upon what the Koreans want but really.. If the Phillapine version of L2 gets to chart it's own course surely the NA/Euro can as well. Or at the very least address our concerns. I mean if I am one of the content developers/designers of the game I am looking at what people are saying, asking, wanting.. Not only in Korea but where ever the game is being ported to.
If the Phillapine version of L2 gets to chart it's own course surely the NA/Euro can as well.
Between the Asian contries and NA/Euro, we are just a drop in a bucket. Hence all the leftovers and half-done's we get. While our servers may seem to slacken in population, theirs grow. So.......

No L2 server have ben growing lately, in fact massive loss of players, there was 2m+ players 1,5 year ago now it's less then 1m worldwide.
Ok Kalidren I will try and expain the dwarfs ability to be better inmaking adena the all the other classes. Those are the extra slot for buy/sell shops plus the increase in wieght limits at various levels. Now right about now alot of people are saying big deal that doesnt help at all. Now this means if you sell shots alot you can set up shops for longer times before restocking and you have an extra slot so you can offer more then the other toons.
Now if NC did offer anything else like say being able to get stuff cheaper then other toons how long would it be before everyone had an alt dwarf just for that purpose. I am not saying dwarfs do not need any loving from NC, I am saying that if you are willing to put the effort in you can make a fortune with a dwarf played right.
Now as far as the castle owners making all this adena off of the poor dwarfs is pure garbage. My Dwarf makes more then 20% off each shot I sell and that is with no bargin shopping on my part. I still manage to sell 500k+ in shots a night. Just make friends with recharges or have your own and you can craft enough for a week in little over an hour a week.
P.S. the big adena comes from the manor or should I say what they get from the manor and sell to other players. The money made on taxes is just a fraction of what a properly set up manor can make them.

Who doesnt have a 4-slot alt dwarf now?

It doesn't take a dwarf to play the market. Dwarves really have no economic advantage over any other player. I, as an Elf, can manor more mats than a BH can Spoil in the same time frame. Sure, same BH can Seed and Spoil... but the gap between her profit and mine is narrow.
Sure, dwarves have some tools to making more adena than others... but that gap is very narrow indeed.

As a multiple time castle owner, (as is Kalidren), we can safely say thats utter bullcrap.
A manor system isnt BAD, however, there are only a few select items that end up costing less then you'd see farmers selling them for.
Taxes in Giran make way the hell more then any manor system could ever dream of making, by a wide, wide, wide margin.
Ok Kalidren I will try and explain the dwarfs ability to be better in making adena
While i do appreciate the effort on your part there is really no need to explain how to make Adena to me... After all I have been playing a crafter as my main in this game since 2004 :)
I mean this is not really a topic about that. It's sorta about a skill the dwarves were not allowed to have due to its potential harm to the economic stability of a server and yet... it's perfectly acceptable to allow a castle owner to reap the rewards of every single crafter on the server by 1000 fold or more. How can this be? Wouldn't that be considered game breaking as well? I can go on and on about the trials and tribulations of being a pixelated dwarven crafter in L2 but lol.. I just wanted to point this out and see the feed back it gets.
