Okay sorry I am fixated on dwarf crafting at the moment. Gomen nasai! Just having fun on the commerce side of things while helping a friend level. Anyway here is the question or though to discuss.
Aside from greed is there anything that really affects the price of crystals on a server? Take erica for example. You have idiots selling D crystals for 720+. it's easier to just walk into the **** weapon shop by the cheapest weapon and crush it 687 d-crystal price.
B-crystals way back in the day were like 9-12K-ish depending. Now people are asking for 14K with no underlying explanation in the market to reasonably ask that price. They also started hijacking the c-crystal price inflating that.
Its kind of like last year when suddenly animal bones went to 2K per bone on Erica. Yeah there was a shortage of bones...my dwarf could only pull in 2000+ spoiling in the catacomb.
There are definetely strong forces in the market working against players in regards to pricing and at best even knowing what to look for will get you only a 10-20% discount off the inflated prices the rip-off artists try to get for stuff.
On erica I managed to get A-crystals for 22K per, versus 27-29K, but you have to actively watch shouts and pay attention to get any good deals. They come fast and disappear quickly as well.
Any thoughts on crystal price hijacking. I think BSS over a year went from 64-67 to 72-75, all due to someone/group inflating b-crystal prices. Notice how the D market is still at 12, not enough profit in that market for the crystal vendors to [censored] it.
I think really your best bet is to set up a buy shop and buy the crystals at a reasonable value. Your buying power comes in the form of someone may want to translate nonliquid crystals into liquid adena quickly. Or you are buying such a large quantity that makes it easy for them to unload. If i can buy 100M worth of a-crystals, I **** well expect to name my price for what I will pay.
Please rule out supply and demand. Just go to dion on erica. You have to turn down the glow effect its so bright there :-) Lots of OE'd weapons mean lots of blown up ones as well.
