Oh please this is a great idea honestly. I have lot of old time players who want to come back to see the changes but dont want to pay for 30 days if they do not like the changes.
This is a great idea and it works well with COH/COV they usually get a surge in renewed accounts durning this time period.

BTW why starting from 2006? Why not before? My friend used to play in 2004/2005 with my after betas and I want to get him back in, any reason why the 2004/2005 people cannot do this?
It might be a database issue in their billing department Greatness. Alyvra has only been here about a month and the billing department might of told her they only had time time to go back to 1/1/06 and turn all the accounts on. Its a lot of database to go through to check these accounts out. Also this doesn't mean if they were prelude and stopped playing early c2 it wont be reactivated. Last pay cycle you paid for has to be after 1/01/06.

Thats not what the post says. The only reason they couldnt do it is if the OB / Prelude accounts are either stored in a different table than the current accounts OR if the data that is stored from the OB / Prelude accounts is different from that of the current accounts.

But I have to agree as stated, commercial on this on other websites is a must if you whant alot of people to trie it again.

While I think the gesture of reactivating the accounts is nice Alyra, will there be complications from the prior August incident. Way back in about August 06, due to a security break in, NC reset all the L2 passwords, making everyone jump thru hoops to reclaim their accounts.

How does this screw over warsmiths? This people still need to buy shots to use their weapons and any warsmith worth their salt will tell you SS and BSPS is there bread and butter of making money I know it is for me.

It does not state what consumables they are. Now then, if NC is giving you Weapon coupons, Armor coupons and Supply Coupons, logic alone dictates that the supply coupons will be something that helps in conjuction with the 2 others. SoE and Summon Crystals dont fit that theme, sorry.

That's a very good question. In short, players will need to go through the standard process to access their PlayNC account (which will involve resetting their PlayNC password).

Oh, I dunno, when the mobs dropped packets of compressed SS, SPS and other things? You prolly werent there then, but it has happened. And the odds that those guys are gonna stay, grind 50mil+ more adena and buy my stuff is kinda LOW.

Some of them have more than that already. Some of them might take the opportunity to give their adena to a friend, who might buy from you. Some of them might be your friends, who give you their stuff.
My friends that have quit, quit for good. 7 days wont get them back. The other 2 are as much if's, so no, no light at the end of the tunnel.

No, but how does getting 7 days affect me or any other active player? We dont get them, so it is zero, nil, nada for us in that aspect. And still, those coupons are another nail in the coffin for Dwarves.
And 7 days, that has zero meaning, it wont affect the servers in a positive way, nor have long lasting effects.
You know what: I'll give a thumbs up for this event, if for no other reason than it will hopefully encourage some of the old faithful to return. Now if only we could marshall all of our forces to take down an Event Epic Raid Boss for loot. :D

Why do you automatically assume that the consumables are going to be SS and SPS?
More than likely it'll be hair pots, QHP's, haste pots, casting pots, etc.
Also, as for shadow weapons. If you had honestly made your money making B grade and below items I'd be shocked.
The way I make money is OEing lower grade weapons and selling them. I'd never touch a shadow weapon as a main weapon, they cost too much in the long run.
not a bad event. alot of people just need an incentive to play again. this may be enough to bring them back. if they come back for a brief amount of time, and bump into a few old friends, this may be enough to persuade them to come back for a while longer. it probably wont massively affect the population, but it may bring back a few, as long as the current community spreads the word to people who have since quit. unless NC sends out an email regarding this event to the inactive accounts, so people know their accounts are active again.
Try a different thought - if I buy a lance, I have to tie up (at current market value) around 50 mil of my money ... which is just about all what I have loose. That means that that's 50mil I wouldn't be making money with. Within one night, I can earn enough money for several days of shadow weaponing with that 50mil, and so on and so forth.
On the other hand, while I appreciate this kind of event, it is probably the wrong time for it - and I will probably take the week off to play another game, because griefers are bound to run rampant.
ETA: I'm generally not a big fan of "money-making" (lol?) events, but it would have been good to couple this one with one of those - people who can get a lot of free stuff are more likely to stay, even if it's deceptive.

Actually, the spoil/drop tables are the biggest thorn in a Crafters sides...people can't craft what they can't aquire! (Realistically)
As both a crafter (L49 Max, currently deleveld to farm some SP) and as a Bounty Hunter (L50, inactive while I work the WS) I think the Shadow weapons are a GOOD thing. They are 'teaser' weapons. They let you try something before you buy the expensive 'real deal'. It also lets a person have a 'secondary' weapon without breaking the bank to get one.
And because shadow weapons can't be enchanted, SA'd or Augmented they will always be inferior to 'real weapons'.
If there is any real problem, it's the lack of drops which make surviving on Shadow weapons more of a necessity than a luxury. Have you looked at the drop/spoil rates for Damascus recipes?!!?!?!?! (And the new quests that you could *possibly* get these from now, don't 'fix' the problem at ALL.)
...reading the notes...Shadow Armor? Hey, armor isn't nearly as impossible to craft as a weapon....plus you can get it cheap enough in the stores/lux shop. Although the craft only stuff is once again crippled by the [censored] spoils/drops. (Am I the only the second person to ever bother trying to make a complete set of Rind?!)
...and don't get me started on the (complete) lack of decent base material spoils at *all* levels of the game! (Oops....Too Late!)

From 52 to 61, you need 4-5 Shadow Poles. That is 400-500k. Compare that to the price of a Lance which is from 40-50mil. Which is more expensive? Oh and they're not in any way inferior. You DONT need augments or SAs at those lvls. The mobs are easy enough with even non-top Grade weapons. Same for 40-52, you can go it almost totally with the shadow coupons you get, again, no need for SAs or augments.
I dont know about your server, but on Teon, top C-grade weapons SELL alot. Considering that they're easy to mass produce and their production price is less than half of their sell price, it is kinda nice money. B-grade, if you can get a supply of recipes, Doom and BW helms make more money than A-grade helms. BW helm was at one point 12mil while Tallum helm was at the cheapest 11mil.
Pain, lvl49, so you dont touch A-grade even with a long stick yet. Armors, well yeah, easy to craft if you're willing to pay 15mil+ for Maj gloves recipe alone. The complete product is as expensive as NM/Maj body.
If you go back a few days we all were complaining about the lower players numbers. And Alyra said it herself, her and the team were talking about ways they could do something about it. I believe this is a result of that talk.....
They wanted to try something and this is what they are trying....
A fun thing for this event to be more attractive would be that the "armor coupons" that one get makes you buy rare armors.
For example Dwarven chainmail, rind leather etc and one could buy the Apella set to trie it out ( with out the baron receurment" )
Cause I would really like to trie the Apella out :D
Just bascilly make every ingame armor and weapon be avalible for a weeks time.

And that was one of the BEST events ever, even with the more powerful alliances hording the higher level bosses to themselves. Hopefully before the summer ends we'll have something like that again.

Wow, some people can't ever be pleased can they? Which server are you on, I feel like plvling myself a dorf and 3 rechargers and following you making 1a crafts of anything you attempt.
As for the new event, I like it. It shows NC have interest in re-viving the game and can see the roblems we constantly complain about.
As for effects, I don't expect much as summer is a bad time and this update isn't the best to show off. Potential is there though and the light is a the end of the tunnel.
if they can do this type of even once, they can do it again in winter, with the kameal and possibly tie in with a new event.... I imagine that would prove EXTREMELY successful.

I gotta say this event is a good idea but a missed opportunity for ncsoft. im thinking of all the people who quit since c1 (95% of ppl on my friendlist). if you emailed all those guys and say 30% came by to check it out, wow itd be awesome.
So why since 2006? did you screw up the database or what.
I got told about this by a friend thats still playing and though I would come back and take a look. but seem my account hasn't been activated, it went inactive on the 22/05/2007 and guess thats not good enough even though I had played since OB.
The chance to have been able to play for 7 to 14 days might have been enough to bring me back, but as all NCsoft ideas it still seems that its not fully imagined.
Don;t feel bad NCsoft, its a common mistake of marketnig managers to not fully think through a project ^^

My current account is actually the buddy codes we got a while back that gave 30 days. It turned out to be a cd-key as well since I payed monthly after that on my buddy code account leaving my old preorder/beta account. So it may be included right?

I find it quite UNFAIR that this opportunity only lasts for a week. Some servers will be able to gain access to catacombs and necropolis while others cant. Did someone ever though about this issue before making the event?
Cats/Necros are not new and have not change in 3 updates. SO there is nothing to see there so really not an issue this is suppose to get them intrested in the game again not mindlessly grind in a square room for 7 days.

o/ sup all, guess I'm eligible for it after all after they changed the wording of it. I was one of those who created their account before '06 but was subscribed after that.

People who have just reached D or C grade do get the shadow weapon coupons after finishing their class change (15 of those actually) which they can already use for that.
Granted the armor on C grade is a wee bit trickier but you're not going to tell me that you haven't been able to save up a bit or didn't use any in game means to build up your adena pool for getting part or the full set.
Another help is finding a clan that can help you out on bits and pieces or even craft...
It's an event to stimulate back the old inactive accounts...Not an event to gear up any actives that would like to get a bit more of the cake.

I had the same problem. I just reset my password and it worked straight away! I recommend resetting your password to all ppl with difficulties.
Very true, in which case i wonder will the shadow items remain if we turn in the vouchers but do not use the weapons/armor. Current shadow items do stay if not equipped, but we don't usually have A grade or armor options.
I actually thought we MIGHT just MIGHT get a choice of trying the NEW a grade weapons which were made ALMOST impossible to get every single thing for them.. but nope they dont let us

- the 4th and 5th : downloading the game. I have some problem with my connexion ;)
- the 6th day : where is my [biiiip] password... Ah ! At least I enter in the game. Hum... already 23:00, I get up at 6:00, just enough time to say hello to old friends, to give some cash and stuff that I don't need, and time to go to bed.
- the 7th day ? Well today I'm at work, and the maintenance will occur before I can log in again.
So what's new in Lineage II ? I really don't know. I've just noticed a new plaync.com interface, where I can see my beta account was entered on Mar 26, 2004, and retail on Apr 29, 2004...

This event was great for annoying all the n00b permareds that returned in Dion area with their accounts being reactivated. I did not bother to explain to them about Blessing of Protection. Darn funny stuff, gotta love the comedy these idiots provided. We had an entire teams of lowbies getting a kick out of these n00bs.
