Yah, I know its getting old already.
But we need this server transfer rly bad right now.

Look: Uprising - the greatest alliance on the NA servers (maybe world strongest as well) just disbaned =(
"we have decided that there is no longer anything left for us to accomplish" Its getting bored to play on the same server and fight the same enemies all the time.

We all know that they have this server transfer in Korea , and they are fine with it.. why dont we have it in NA ?

You are trying to bring ppl who already left lineage2 with new events, but what u should do is to keep your current players in game!

Servers are dienig.. and I think we all know that sooner or later you would have to give us server transfer.. I just hope that it wount be too late.

Best regards.
UR is gne! oh noes! lolbartz is now just ... bartz.

/cry

it what everyone does when they get to the end of the game - leave. perhaps they should have understood that before they got to 80?

/care
agree but I this new event is a nice try too even thou i think Interlude has nothing to offer.. the next release would have been a better one for marketing to target but w/e let's see if we see some improvent as it's not like it can get any worse
well I didnt mean to say that this new event is bad!
Its NOT! It is a good way to bring old friends back to the game. But still, its a low % compare to all the high lvls and current players that quite the game, cause they have noone left to fight.

Ok, first of all, I like your avatar.

Secondly, maybe it's about time another alliance rose up to become "the greatest thing since sliced bread".

Seems to me that with a large alliance leaving, there will be a "power vacuum" and there should be more fighting.
I guess. Problem is that
no clan halls have gone up for sale
no great sell off of unique items
Loss of some good players along with the others.

I have seen this also happen in L1. They are now dealing with the low server population over there and they didn't do server transfers.

I can not see why they refuse to allow us to do transfers here. If there are some great groups on a quiet server, why not let them come over to bartz and start something?

Course, I really liked the idea of transfering toons from one account to another and really like the idea of sex changes.
It's not gonna happen anytime soon, the server merge or transfer :) like NCsoft can do it? hehehehe
they do it on korea already so yes "ncsoft" can do it, ncsoft american on the other hand cannot figure out the coding :P
they have done so on Korea and Taiwan so the answer is yes they can
I think his point was more like if there was server transfers UR could transfer to another server to fight new enemies instead of quitting the game.

I believe many players on my server would come back to the game to fight a strong ally like UR, or would have transfered to Bartz to fight them several months ago...
NCsoft doesn't know any **** about coding :)
i think it more means strong clans on other servers, for example kain,

would transfer to bartz for the challange or to ally up, alot would transfer.

Ncsoft would have over 5000+ char transfers the first month easy...

5000 * $20(charing price) = $100,000, not bad for something that shouldnt cost you more than 20k in coding and 20k in maintence to get them transfered that month really

Seems to me that with a large alliance leaving, there will be a "power vacuum" and there should be more fighting.

The best KIND.
Why would you guys care if UR disbanded, the only people who ever interacted with them anyways was TD, the rest were too scared.
Is funny How we still Hope for this game to change. an we all sit back an watch NcSoft burn the best game to the ground. Here hoping for L3 to be better but with the NcSoft tag on it, i don't think so.

server merge or transfer need to happed now!. If NcSoft thing adding a new race would make top players come back. hell no.
they will go to a priv-server to test the new race for free.

NcSoft is sitting on the new race to get the game active and going. Is not going to happed NcSoft..we don't care about your new race..we care about the game it self...

here still hoping the game don't burn to the ground.
i bet if uprising moved to kain you'd see someppl reactivate.
Eh.

The game is three years old. There are a lot of reasons for people to quit, including "There's no competition."

But then, if you look, how many of these dominating alliances actually foster competition? Most of them find a threat and annihilate it before it grows to a suitable size to become competition for their server dominance.

In the end, most of those that spout off "There's no competition" are the guilty ones. Of course there are exceptions to this statement, but the majority of them don't actually want competitors.

Of course, a dominating alliance disbanding and leaving the game opens that end-game content for the people that were not strong enough to take it from them.

A lot of you will say "Get stronger" in response to that, but when they are prevented from growing at every step how, then, are they supposed to get stronger?

The glory of this game is that politics are completely something created and maintained by the players. NCSoft has very little to do other than monitoring.

So before you accuse NCSoft of ruining the game for those end-game, think on this: they ruined it for themselves.

Why would you guys care if UR disbanded, the only people who ever interacted with them anyways was TD, the rest were too scared.

the point might be that there are allies on other servers in the same situation who would have loved to have a go at them if they could leave their own server without having to reroll

Way to speak as if you know what Uprising did or was about.

Clueless.

Uprising didnt mess with anyone that didnt mess with them.

They let you come to them, when you were ready to fight. Furthermore, when you finally realized you were utterly outclassed, they let you surrender without a problem.

This isnt Littlepigs, or ER, or any of the other clans on Lionna, or PuppyRawr, or anything similar across servers.
Way to read past what I said.

I was not directing this at UR in particular. If they fall under that "Again there are exceptions to this" then so be it.

This is a statement made more to support the theory of a power vacuum at the top, and a statement made to point out the problem with end-game domination.
End game domination only exists because carebears dont want to lose exp and fight.

It was clearly shown, against the strongest alliance in L2 history, that a group of players could take them out with enough numbers.

More then 80% of the Hero's, most of which were at the fights, and they still lost the mass battles. Nothing against their abilities, but there were just too many people.

Has nothing to do with problems end game. Has to do with people being too [Censored] to actually put up a fight, huddling behind OMG I dont want to lose 1%!!!
Server domination needn't rely on strength of arms, thought it most often does. Perception of that strength is often times enough to ensure that anyone with aspirations of removing the dominating power think carefully about their course of action.

If an end-game alliance manages to hold a server because no one is willing to fight, yes it reflects upon those who are not willing to step up to change things. But it also reflects upon the end-game alliance, no matter how 'benevolent' they are.

When no competition exists, the end-game alliance gets bored and leaves the game, opening up a new fight to see who becomes the new dominator.

Or, as a friend's husband once said:

"Congratulations. You've won. Go make a new character."

What do you give someone that has it all?
There is no "opening up a new fight to see who becomes the new dominator". UR handed TD the server by disbanding, gratz TD. They are the best geared of the end-game alliances left on the server. They were the only alliance that could even think about challenging UR, that explains it nicely.

TD = Ruler of Bartz.

Watch who will be holding Aden and Giran castles after the next seiges on those...

L2 has no end-game. Seiges and PvP are not end game content. You can farm the same raids only so long before they burn you out. PvP-dependent End-Game means people will just avoid the strong and find softer targets to war.

You are trying to bring ppl who already left lineage2 with new events, but what u should do is to keep your current players in game!

This event to bring PPl back is a joke. They left because there noting here for them...and there still noting for them. a long time player from Beta is not coming back for a shadow weapon exchange coupons or consumable item exchange coupons.

You need to fix the house 1st before you tell your friend to come over NcSoft.

I spoke to some of the beta players about this event and all they told me was good luck!!!
Umm it's not a joke Workstation. I know our guild rejoined the game these past few months and were pleasently surprised at "some" of the changes. But that being said there are a backlog of things on the "to do" list that really need addressing for this game to move forward in a positive fashion.

It should also be noted that people comment so much on this because they love the game and want to see it prosper. Not carry on toward's it's slow and inevitable death. Lineage2 has so much going for it if they'd just get off their butts and make it what it could and should be. It's so frustrating knowing that your just spinning your wheels while you believe your remarks are falling on deaf ears.
What you folks totally ignore is the main reason UR gave for quitting L2.

lets take a look at L2's endgame :

Heroes:
- You have a System that puts Olympiad competition between 1 am and 7 am for European players (Most of UR were Euros).
- A system you cannot afford to ignore in the endgame, because the hero skills and cancel stick (hero polearm) are so ridiculously overpowered.
- Only 5 classes out of the 30 are really good in olympiad, so you need nobles out of max 5 classes to camp open oly 6 hours every night for the entire month, to stop the other side from feeding in open.

That was annoying as [censored]. Without the heroes you are at a serious disadvantage when your outnumbered, period.
I do not understand why NCSoft is unable to realize that there are European players from open beta that did not want to leave 12+ month of playing behind when EU servers came.
Or 2+ years when Franz came into the game.

- Epic raids
Baium : He is dumb as [censored], its fun to do him the first 3 times, rest is just farming
Frintessa : Spawns faster than the other epics, Bartz top alliances do the raid with max 3 groups in less than 1 hour. Farming
Antharas : What Baium and Frintessa are easy, Antharas is hard, takes quite a while to kill him, but compared to Frintessa the reward is too low
Valakas : Hard as hell to beat, comparing the Reward for killing him to the reward for killing Frintessa you just don't do Valakas.

normal Raids :
The normal Raids do not drop anything worthwhile any more, you can kill 15 Raidbosses in a row and you probably spent more on Elxirs and Soulshots/Spiritshots than they dropped.

The Olympiad is unbalanced as hell, even on Bartz which has a good population its hard to no reasonable extend to get class only working, since not enough nobles.
And for European players its in the middle of the night.
Of course I do not have the time to play a toon on an euro server to noble, just to see that part of the game.
Of course I will not pay 15 euros a month to do raids that are either boring as [censored] or not worth doing more than the 3 times that they are funny.
Of course at some point in time I get bored of camping oly in the night, I got a RL to attend to.

Fix olympiad & allow server transfers and you might have a chance to keep your jobs in the Lineage ][ staff.
The Raidbosses are not the problem and the rest of the game is really good.
Its a real shame how NCSoft NA is unable to do a good job, you guys could be market leading with the material that the game has, all it would take is a bit of adjusting it to the NA market. This is not Korea!
Actually, UR was cool. Even when they were warring us, once the problem was stopped, they stopped. We had one alliance that basically warred us until the alliance was disbanded and people were forced to leave the clan. That particluar was sucked cause most of the people that left the clan, left the game.
Before anyone takes this the wrong way, it was sad, but when you war another clan that is subbing and all in their upper 70's against your clan of mid 60's, there is no war. It is just being killed over and over again.

Now that UR is gone, good luck to TD. Never had any issued with them and I know some of them. I do hope others come along to give them some fun, hell if they wait another year or so, we may even be able to do that....

a long time player from Beta is not coming back for a shadow weapon exchange coupons or consumable item exchange coupons.

As a Beta player still playing L2... I'm not excited about shadow weapons and cupons, either, unless I can trade them for A-grade.
Lol.

If Shadow Weapon coupons were tradeable I would not instantly destroy them and save them up for clan members who were in a pinch for cash.
PVP, Ahtu, JohnnyJihad, and the rest of the oldschoolers quit again? They did this like two or three years ago when they left us on Lionna before they even went to Bartz to start Uprising. I refuse to believe they quit for good.
...
Im not sure how it is on the other servers but my - Sieghardt is 2side server . And both sides are on the edge to quite. IF any of them quite, this is it... its over for sieghardt =(
and I dont want to play Lineage in single player mode :(

Hindemith is not a two sided server. We also have an odd habit of deposing clans/alliances that we have grown tired of.

I've been on the giving and receiving of that. It's a really interesting thing to observe.

good thing the end game is supposed to be hard to get to, then.

anyone that can "farm" frintessa has a RL that consists of eating, sleeping, and L2.

if you find the end game boring, perhaps you shouldnt be in it.
If we had server transfers a couple months ago I bet a lot of players would transfer to Bartz to fight UR instead of breaking down their clans and quit the game...

NCNA should offer to transfer them to Kain, as an experiment for server transfers, would be great to have a 3rd side again and I bet a bunch of old players would come back to fight them.
We had like 4 alliances on Bartz able to do Frintessa, if it spawned within their timeframe they did it. And like I said it only takes 3 groups and a couple of brez.
Well, don't quit.
If anything, old members of UR should create new clans and work from there.
Hell, you should have waited till CT1 came out so Sieghardt could have whooped your arses :)
As powerful as you are, we have a ton of PvP. So numbers don't always beat experience (we know, our clan took on a number 4x our size and took their castle before we taught them how to pvp)

So what else is there to do? Im sorry but Uprising main interest was PvP and to stay at the top or with the top, you have to be at the endgame at all times.

Honestly, I dont think server-wars will come in CT1. And even if they did im not to sure NCNA would support it.. Can always hope tho :/.
P.S.

Look: Uprising - the greatest alliance on the NA servers

Somebody is full of themselves.
Well, some of us can enjoy just playing the game - the more I hear about endgame, the happier I am that I'm a lowbie. Our PvP is more fun (and less hassle, as exp loss is a non-issue), our PvE is more rewarding (i.e. you actually get a level occasionally), our gear is more affordable. We just don't get the boasting rights, but boasting rights in a game are odd anyhow.

I'm sure UR had a good time with each other mostly (a good clan is what makes L2 enjoyable after all - at least for most I know), but if you hit end game and got bored, then that's that. It's not a problem that you'd move on eventually, is it?

ETA: Weren't server wars coming in the shape of fortresses? I was really confused about all of the T1 stuff, but in either case I don't think it was a "fully open" server war system they intended anyhow.
We're in an Interlude. Kind of like Prelude was to the Chronicles, the interlude is the gateway to the Chaotic Throne.

We all know that they have this server transfer in Korea , and they are fine with it.. why dont we have it in NA ?

You sure? last I've heard was that only Japan got 'some type' of server transfer, I know korea cont accounts transfer, transfer one of your chars from one of your accounts to another of your accounts, but never heard of Server transfer.
IIRC Korea had server transfers - but you could take no gear, only adena (and that was capped based on your level). I don't think many people would be willing to leave behind their shineys.

Lukasa: Thanks, but that's not what I meant. I meant the information about T1 so far has been pretty mixed up with information about the CT in general.

I think you could take whatever you have on you (prolly nothing in the inventory) and a set amount of adena depending on what lvl you are.
Didn't someone translate the exact terms somewhere on Blah? I don't remember anything from the thread that would make it easier to find it, but I'm sure someone remembers and can link the thread.

Edited, sorry for my English - that made no sense.

I know what thread you mean and this is probably the post you ment.

Not like it matters anyway.. If NCNA wanted us to have server transfer we would have had it in C1 like the promised us.

so lets put what you say into context - PVP and epic raids became too mundane for Uprising and they all quit.

well how could we expect more? should your average uber expect that every day he logs in he faces a new challenge? if you answered YES, perhaps Uprising should have put the PVP on pause for a week and let the enemies catch up. challenges = fair fights, challenges =\= zerg the pve wartags.

and no, a 2 hr raid every 2 days is not a lot. what is alot, however, is that the epic bosses of the game were taken down so frequently, it became habitual instead of "fun"

and to quote your own self, you got NO clue about 3/4 of the game if all youre concerned with is pvp. just about 100% of the people that ive been with on Devianne, and then on lionna when i rerolled, would log, take a 4% or bsoe instead of go looking for a fight. there are a lot of other ways to play the game. pvp is one way, pve another, fishing counts but many wouldnt call it playing the game, and RP is the rest of the story. RP being open ended and not-level based, you dont have to actually play the game of pve nor of pvp in order to be among the best.

Uprising should have looked past the end of their noses - Bartz is a rich server. there are a lot of communities within bartz that neither pve, nor RP, nor pvp. believe it or not, there is more than meets the eye to all the servers.

to quote a passage of the Bible - "The foolish flee when no man pursues." Uprising didnt need to quit to find fun in the game. they have no reason to go. a month from now, blah will be full of the UR wartags claiming dominance of the server. and then UR will be ashamed.
Thank you, that's the one I meant. I also honestly don't think server transfers would fix the problems which lie inherent in the game - it's not that you don't have anyone strong enough to compete with because there aren't enough people - at least on most servers, the trouble is people playing and paying to win rather than to play, and that, to me, would ruin the whole point.

While I don't generally agree with Spudnik, in what he writes there there's an important line.

it became habitual instead of "fun"

I make a point of not doing things that aren't fun unless they have an immediate fun consequence in game. That means I won't force myself to level past a point that I can enjoy, and also that I won't be hesitant to "waste" my in game assets; it means I won't put myself under pressure to PvP, etc.

That means the game will stay as fresh for me as it has been since open beta until I find something with similar structure and better looks. There may be down spells, but they are easily ignored.

I honestly think if you're at the point where you can't log out after a night and think "well, that was a good time," it's time to quit - no matter if you're 80 with three subclasses or level 20 struggling for D Grade. Then again, there are many things one can do to make the game more fun.

Roleplaying is the prime example cited of these, and one that most people misunderstand excessively - I'm not going to go into a long rant of what it is, but it is not about pretending to be your character, but rather like setting Lineage II with a detailed and epic storyline, in which your character's in game happenings feature more or less prominently (i.e. almost nobody's going to RP the epic grind to the next level - people might, however, make up the story surrounding nerfs/boosts to their class, newly acquired weapons, friends/foes, clan wars, etc.). In short, it is taking your own imagination and adding something to the game that isn't originally there.

The same process (albeit on a different level) happens when a clan forms: Your clannies, to you, are probably more than numbers on a roster, but people you know and whose company you mostly appreciate. That is not a natural feature of Lineage II, and yet it is one of its most important selling points - nothing keeps a person in game as certailny as landing in the academy of a clan that fits them.

Now, if you are actually interested in staying - the question is, of course, if there is something that would make it fun - a split down the middle of one's own alliance is a classic example, providing oodles of relaxed and non-trash-talky PvP for all involved (although that's not what everyone wants).

If you want to look, I'd be surprised if there was no such thing lying around waiting to get picked up - but the question is whether it's worth it, and in the case of your alliance moving on to greener grounds, it's probably past the point.

I don't think anyone will be "ashamed" or embarrassed about quitting - it's not like there's some sort of responsibility to stick around.
Heros are definitely overpowered, atleast in my opinion and way too easy to get for big clans (just swing the points to a person).. On Erica, there are I think only 2 heroes that are not from the main PR alliance.
Spudnik, have you been in an end-game guild/clan on any server in any game?

You make it fairly apparent that you haven't.

Even in games with no PvP, guilds/clans demand enormous amounts of time to stay on top. Do I remember dedicating 4-5 hours a day in EQ to raid, on top of my time used to XP/AA my toon? Yes. Do I remember people being kicked because they weren't active enough? Yes. Do I remember killing off content we had farmed to death (non-instanced) just so the competing guild had slower progress (PoTime, Pre-instanced, Uqua, Inktu`Ta, Epic Raids, etc.)? Yes. It's the life of the high end game in that game.

Lineage 2, especially, is all about competition. Telling/Asking/etc. any clan or alliance to stop their roll and let the competition "catch up" is a slap in the face - and you obviously don't see how that would be a problem becuase you suggested it. I don't see Microsoft putting Windows development on hold to let Linux catch up in the desktop area just because "it needs some competition". Success is addictive and crucial to survival in this game, both individually and as a clan/alliance.

The difference between those games and this one is that there is a constant addition of new end-game material to the game. Almost every [other] expansion pushes the upper eschilon of gear and forces the high end guilds to farm more and figure out/master. Oh, and some of those events actually take month of failure/gearing up to conquer. Lineage 2 is really too simplistic, and penalyzes the fast and the furious with empty end game. Like I said earlier, when one alliance is so far ahead of the rest of the server, the rest of the server will likely just pick a softer target to war. Why fight a losing battle and kill the morale of your clan when you can fight others who are weaker and on a more even ground to yourself?

There is no PvE in L2 at end game. There is a reason why they call it, end game. Where NCSoft goes wrong is they keep failing at giving those at end-game further goals to work towards - which is where other games really excel. The simple fact is that it is too easy to get to the top with just alot of free time in L2. The game is too static and PvE is only a method to get to the real intent of the game. If you go too fast you will be stuck too far ahead of the server for most of them to bother to even /target you for PvP. If you go too slow you'll never catch up cause you'll never get the chance to get the epic raids/heroes required to get tot he top.

The only way to fully enjoy this game is to just make friends and actually reroll and avoid slow high level grind monotany. The best enjoyment of this game comes at D Grade IMHO - when people aren't busy "Bush" Politicking.

well how could we expect more? should your average uber expect that every day he logs in he faces a new challenge? if you answered YES, perhaps Uprising should have put the PVP on pause for a week and let the enemies catch up. challenges = fair fights, challenges =\= zerg the pve wartags.

and no, a 2 hr raid every 2 days is not a lot. what is alot, however, is that the epic bosses of the game were taken down so frequently, it became habitual instead of "fun"

and to quote your own self, you got NO clue about 3/4 of the game if all youre concerned with is pvp. just about 100% of the people that ive been with on Devianne, and then on lionna when i rerolled, would log, take a 4% or bsoe instead of go looking for a fight. there are a lot of other ways to play the game. pvp is one way, pve another, fishing counts but many wouldnt call it playing the game, and RP is the rest of the story.

OK dude, once more, this time I type slowly so you get it :

The 2nd strongest alliance on Bartz, The****ed(TD) had the same gear basically, full boss jewel sets, S Grade. They had the same levels (mostly 78+).
They had roughly the same amount of nobles I think.

UR had 40-70 actives for sieges max.

Yet 95% of the time TD did not go to sieges because they knew they would just get owned. Yet UR constantly had 20-25 heroes with TD barely exceeding 8 heros.

TD is still a strong clan, there is no doubt about that, but none of em contest they could not beat UR. TD had roughly the same chances, no need to "catch up" or anything.

THE ENDGAME IS NOT VERY ENJOYABLE, ITS THE GAME.
IF you enjoy pvp&sieges and you leveled past a certain point you NEED the boss jewelry and you NEED the heroes, so you MUST camp open olympiad and SCHEDULE epic bossraids on a FREQUENT BASIS.

Got it now?
Is it worth doing something that's not at all fun to you just to stay "on top" - for bragging rights in a game? The windows example is ludicrous and out there - Microsoft is making money - if a farmer competes to be on top even at the cost of his enjoyment of the game, that makes perfect sense.

If a player does it?
Lets call L2 Sport, and then all the facts fits.

Now..... If Uprising did this right they would disband into smaller clans. They say their is no more to accomplish, now their is....

Its not about the bragging rights, sure it is fun to be the first, the best and so on but instead I would say its more about being competitive.

Uprising and myself cant play a game unless we are trying to be the best and when there is no more to do and to test ourself the game gets boring.
when 1 ally control epic/sieges/heroes without nobody else challenging them for that what else they have to do?
L2 end game is pvp.after u have ur s grade gear+epic jewels u have nothing else to do except burn the xp u gain in pvp.
normally when is "fair" fight both sides will lose xp and sooner or later will have to grind again to get back xp lost in war.
but if u dont lose xp in fights(clan luck and bsoe(really good idea!!!!)) u dont need to grind again.
so ppl get bored

You know, I'm sure that I probably missed it, but in all these posts I see here and in other threads about server tranfsers I don't think I've seen anyone discuss the problems it would cause instead of solve. I'm just going to type an example here of where I'm heading with this and then you respond.

We're all aware that at some point, if the server populations don't pick up, NC will have no choice but to shut some of them down and move the players to another server. They'll be forced to do this from a financial point of view. The overhead cost of keeping the servers up will not be supported by the number of accounts on that server....ok

I would imagine that the newest servers would be the first one's shut down and their players moved. I don't know the server list well enough to name which 2 are the newest, but I would be willing to bet you the following:

There are some fine people on those servers.
There are some fine players on those servers.
There are some fine clans/alliances on those servers.

...and they just got told they have to move to Bartz!

These clans will have clan halls, the alliances will have castles. Are there any available clan halls on Bartz? No...so how do you compensate a clan for the loss of their clan hall that they have held for say, 2 years! How do compensate the alliances for the loss of their castles? sure they can come to Barts and try to take one, maybe succeed, maybe not, but the clan hall part will be a very nasty situation for NC to handle. Then......pretend that I'm one of these being moved to bartz

ok I have 4 accounts (between my son and myself) my main account has all 7 slots used up with toons that I don't want to loose. It also happens that I have 2 toons on Bartz already that I am playing a lot and really enjoying....but I have to move from my home server now.....which toons am I going to be forced to delete? and who is going to compensate me for what I'm loosing?

Think this won't happen? I tell you now that I do have 7 toons on my main account and a couple on other servers. I sure wouldn't want to have to delete any of them.

UR being gone? yeah, that's going to leave a power vacuum, but not for long. The reason they are gone? That is a problem that is not going to go away and something we will see happen again, many times I would think. TD will probably be next, followed by who knows who else. Those who can't find enjoyment in the other features of this game are doomed to the same thing happening to them.

The thing we need most is a major overhaul of the game. NCNA needs to break way (so to speak) from NCKO and run the game to match the type of player mentality that we have here in NA/EU.
in servers that have less population sieges r boring.
so losing castles isnt really problem.more fun on sieges trying to regain.also castle can return to npc and make free for all siege.
about CHs is normally a problem.but creating more CH is town for those clans that r coming would resolve that.
r some parts of town that arent used so possibly would create new CH for those allys.

if they do serve marge will not be bartz with other.
will be 2 low population servers.possibly 2 servers rulled by 1 ally.that would create a massive war beetwen those allys for power and letting weaker allys to get more lvl and s grade gear to join after
Let me ask you......

What will happen when two players on different servers have the same name?
I say we merge Bartz into Teon and then let them deal with one another.
I say we don't, but say we did. And call it even. :D

There is bad things with server transfer but atleast people get to choose what server they wanna play on instead of getting forced to reroll.

I think most people agree on this, rather have 4 packed server with then 10 with 4 half full and 6 almost empty.. What they did in taiwan when they had server merges was that they gave all the castles to the NPC and let all clans rebid on the clan halls.

And then there is the name issue where a simple database with old names and let people choose a new name would fix that issue.

And then there is the name issue where a simple database with old names and let people choose a new name would fix that issue.

Naming issue, naming issue.

It's not that easy!

I have a character on each server with the same name. Also who says and has the right to say: You have to give up your name because someone else has it on another server?
well i still to see ppl with exact same name.
then u have the ones that r inactive for long time or banned
probably that person create toon in other servers with same name.
then what chance that will have 2 ppl from merging servers to have same name?

NCsoft has the right :). And just make it by age, the person with the oldest char keeps the name (if he wants to that is).

But there is no point discussing this cause it will never happen.

Let me ask you......

What will happen when two players on different servers have the same name?

They will either:

1, Give it to the player who has been playing the longest and tell the other player(s) to change their name, or

2, Give some sort of suffix or prefix that differentiates the names

If NC wants to have server mergers they will happen. They are not going to sit there and say "oh my, we can't possibly have mergers because some people are going to lose their names.

That won't happen. They might commiserate with the plight of the players but if they feel they "have" to merge the servers they will.

In the end, it is a business. They need to do what is right for their business and more importantly for the majority of their playerbase. And that means dealing with name issues, clan halls and castle ownership.

Some of the servers will either be merged someday or not. Either way, players have decisions to make.

I have a character on each server with the same name. Also who says and has the right to say: You have to give up your name because someone else has it on another server?

I'd say NCSoft has the right to say whatever they wish on their servers.. woudnt you? ;)

Lord knows, they've ****** off a vast majority of their customer base before. Whats the issue in doing it again?

Heres the thing, we know it will come. You can say it wont, it will come once the servers drop enough people. Thats been proven on two entirely seperate regions already.

Prepare for it, wait for it, just some people dont wish to wait the months its going to take until the game slips far enough into oblivion that they have too.

As to the whole end game PVP be on top thing... you woudnt understand if your a RP'er or anything else. Some of us play to be the best, not the worst, not the most known poster, etc.

Uprising and myself cant play a game unless we are trying to be the best and when there is no more to do and to test ourself the game gets boring.

Ah, that sucks for you. ^_^: Good luck, I suppose.

PS: Some of us play to have fun A difficult concept for some, I see.

And you still dont get it, that is the fun for us... Not to offend anyone but I honestly dont see the fun of being some lvl 52 in a 3 man clan doing quests all day. The same reason you guys probably dont see the fun in pushing yourself or to figure out new/more effective ways to fight, raid or just pve in general.
Uhm, what makes you think people don't try to do all that just because they're lower level? <laugh> I constantly aim to (and I believe reasonably succeed in) try playing my class better - just not interested in end game.

Nobody is saying you shouldn't have fun competing - but it's sorta sad that you say it's not possible any other way for you. Or did I misunderstand that? I'd personally hate to be so restricted, the competing drives me crazy enough 'IRL' to not want the bother in a game.

Why it makes me think that? Because they are level 50 or whatever..

Getting better = fun. And I think most people would agree with me on that.

Says you. What makes you think that I don't understand it? I actually understand it quite well. It's why I'm glad I'm not up at that point yet.

I "get" it. I don't like it, but I get it.

As Maline posted in another thread: RP and PVP are complimentary. Just that most people tend to gravitate toward one or the other.
Well, it's not like getting better isn't fun - but beyond that, just doing random things, reading a good story etc. can be pretty fun as well. ^^; You made it sound like that wasn't an option to you.

My current main has been 58 for almost three months now - that's not because I don't hunt well when I go out, it's because I haven't gone out except for one occassion. Doing your hunting well does not imply that your hunting will wind up getting you to a higher level fast.

It's a very easy issue. The person who had the name first (oldest toon) keeps the name and the other gets an x added to the beginning or end of it.

Sorry, they had it fist.
everywhere i go, all i hear is "\this game is all about competition"

yet in the same places, and from the same mouths come the words "my clan owns too hard, there is no competition"

and again "its easier to kill the weaker"

ive heard enough, end game is nothing more than fascist snobs pretending they are the greatest at something other than waking up out of bed.
Why give the players server transfer when people solve the problem themselves by rerolling on a different server (and thus in the end pay more money to ncsoft)
I think the "being the best" argument might hold more water if we didn't have 3 years of posts about class imbalances, broken mechanics, over/under powered gear/skills and the like.

If it was more of a FPS, or if each class was built in such a manner that any one class had a roughly equal chance of beating another roughly equal level/geared class... then there would be something to "being the best". You'd then truly be "good at L2".

However...

It's not. Perhaps UberClan01 is better at the teamwork necessary to complete Content X than Clan02, or whatever... but the practices of many of these UberClans has tainted the accomplishments of all of them. Sorry to paint them all with the same brush, but we've been over this before.

I think one reason that the "end-game" becomes so boring is that, on average, we've reached it before we were really meant to, as a playerbase. Of course, it's a utopian dream to envision a world without Farmers and without Ebay, but the design of advancement in L2, especially gear-progression, suggests that items like A and S Grade gear is meant to be seen only in the hands of a lucky, dedicated few... not in entire alliances, and certainly not in the hands of the casual.

Had there never been Ebayed Adena and Farmer clans supplying the known world with cheap and plentiful materials to craft with, and the money to buy (and replace!) heavily OE'd equipment, I think our situation, across the board, would be drastically different.
you mean if people werent corrupt and greedy, but rather fair and helpful?

yeah, in and of itself, thats one helluva changed situation.

people will always be greedy and selfish and pricks. this is the human condition at its most boiled down juice. claiming we ever could be more is ignoring the human condition completely.
And who says that the person that had the name years ago or the person that just picked a name a few weeks ago has any less rights?

And the concept of adding X's to the beginning or ending of a name is just unacceptable. Alot of people spend a great amount of time thinking up a name. So far i've seen alot of people fly that server merger/name change flag, but very few if any give any details in the idea.
Good luck to whatever those players decide to do now...
but you are not seeing any tears from me.

Server transfers...
No thank you...

If uprising needed challenge then reroll on another server.

There is no challenge in taking another server when you are dressed in full ++++ gear and rare jewels because your server let you have easy-mode with no opposition.

You must live through the growth of a server and die with it too... you made your bed, now lie in it.

If you don't like it, reroll or quit.

It isn't just a clan or alliance you are building on a server... its an entire community as well.

This doesn't mean it must be all love and hugs, but respect and fair play are something in short supply on most dying servers.

Reminds me of the pre-teens who couldn't retire a character in my PnP days...

If it were me and I had conquered one server, I'd move to the next... surprise the bejeebers out of the reigning clans on another server.
An organized, well set-up clan (or even alliance) would advance quickly and have ideal class balances right off the bat. Now that would be fun...

"we have decided that there is no longer anything left for us to accomplish"

That's unrelentingly idiotic and a little arrogant of them. Break up the strongest alliance for no good reason other than to make some kind of "L2 is dying lol NCNA hates us" statement. Seems a bit extreme when ultimately it's a statement that carries very little weight.

The game is barely halfway done, there will be plenty more for people to accomplish. (National wars? Anyone?) Shame that they couldn't see further than five minutes in front of their faces.
thats why u make them pay $20-30 per char u move servers as i already said which is what World of warcraft did.

If someone on the server u are transfering to has your name, you are forced to pick a new one, SIMPLE!

Good luck to whatever those players decide to do now...

yea reroll from a server and give up 5bill in gear and noble /hero accounts to start fresh on a new server...

you really are dumb

Listen, there is no argument. If NC wants to do this they WILL do it. It either will happen or it won't. If it will they will most likely do what other companies do and go with the older name or add something.

They aren't going to withold merging servers if they absolutely need them just because of names.

wow you re really a forum troll

I totally agree with mec about the servers transfers, lot of our members left the game for same reasons. Fighting UR would be really interresting...

And yeah the hero system is a broken design and a broken implementation, It would be so easy to make oly last like 1 hour per night or be scheduled let s say 5 hours but only on week ends...

GL to you guys.

you mean if people werent corrupt and greedy, but rather fair and helpful?

Yes, basically the same conditions under which communism actually works at a country-sized level. :)
--------------------
BTW, I'd say that whoever is looking at a stronger alliance than themselves, then turning around and warring a weaker one so as to "win" isn't playing the game for competition ... they're just bullies. War a stronger clan, **** it. You might lose, you might even win ... but in the end, you'll learn something, if only about yourself and who really is a member of your clan you can depend on.
