the game freezes ...game unfreezes for a min and its 100% fine ...the game freezes a min later....on and off like this wen i try anything more then one client ....2.5 gigs of 366 speed ram and x1650 pro ati card used to be nearly lag free ......wat is happening anyone know?
I get that too sometimes when dual boxing, not all the time though. My whole computer does that though, but ONLY when dual boxing. If l2 is closed it doesn't do it. So like if I have two clients open and then I'm typing email, the email will freeze for a few seconds then clear up, same as in game.
I like to think of it was the first clients GG trying to stop the second clients GG XD I mean who knows
oh jeesis! so wat kind of computer u have?
and how long have u had it?
mine in currently a P4 3.06/ 2.5 gig 366 speed ram/ x1650 pro ati video card
been having this since the game started ...of course upgraded as the years went
The way you describe it's is Packet loss, when that happens you can't do anything with the client and it just stand still. Some tiems you can seven see the world move around but you can't move or even click also caused by packet losses.
I had a problem similar to that a while ago on my desktop, went in Audio, clicked on "mute all sounds." and it fixed it. Laptop never had that problem.
open your task manager, and watch for the lag, when it occurs take note of which process is using the highest %.
if (on the off chance) you are dual boxing and you notice that either explorer.exe or svchost.exe is experiencing high CPU usage, you might try turning down the Video acceleration. other than that if it is lineage2 thats lagging horribly, watch the Memory usage of it over a period of an hour. if it increases by more than 100k in that time, youve got yourself a memory leak.
memory leak is where a program continually builds up its use of the system resources until finally you crash horribly.
if left unattended to, you will catastrophically damage your system.
memory leaks are not experienced by everyone - some find they are able to keep a stable system when they run in lowest detail all the time. some dont require such things and are able to keep L2 running with minimal resources by setting L2 to single-cpu (in a dual core system - but this voids the dual box). in short, youll have to dicker around with your system and find out what keeps l2 at a reasonably stable memory operation (around 300k)

How do I do this now? Since the Interlude patch I can't see my L2 processes in the process window anymore. I used to watch this window so I know when to reboot but now I can't see it. I have windows xp.

hmmm ... this is news to me ... although admittedly i havent required to do this since pre-interlude too.
what you might try then, is to watch your event log (start- admin tools - event viewer) and see if L2 has any continuously running events, like "lineage2.exe is accessing the internet" / "gameguard.exe has enountered an error" or things of that nature.
if you see a whole list of L2 events, you might want to try a new driver, or new update to windows, or release/renew your firewall ... all kinds of things.
main thing tho, is to look for something that might be conflicting with L2 either on your system or within your router/firewall. you might not see it affecting your connectivity to the internet, but it doesnt mean you dont have problems.
I have been having more in-game lag since sometime yesterday or the night before. I attribute this to the event, as most every event but the ones with pollen seems to bring some lag. Depending on when your lag problem started, this could apply to you also (the OP, that is).
FYI, the worst event in terms of lag for me was Omega's Revenge, from last year.
I'm not joking here.
What you can do is set all your sound to 0 and hit the mute button. Their's a memory leak in the audio system and doing this has stopped this kind of lag for every one of my clan members.
PC1600 (100mhz technically, 200mhz Double rate) PC2100 (133mhz, 266mhz DR), PC2700 (166mhz, 333mhz DR), PC3200 (200mhz, 400mhz DR), and from there Unofficially up to PC4200 (250mhz, 500mhz dr) For all DDR models.
DDR2 we are just starting to get at the end of the line.. there was no DDR 366mhz modules made as far as i know. (that'd be like PC2950? )
i made a custom PC around 4 years ago that used pc2100 ram. the ram failed me after 2 years. the next time i went to buy this ram, i was told it wasnt manufactured anymore.
