Ouch : ) That's gotta be hard doing the voices and being recorded knowing full well you'll be making all kinds of bizzaro faces.
Not at all, they are actors. It's part of the process for creating those voices. By "physicalizing" (made up word but it's apt) the process they are able to generate the appropriate sounds.
Ok :) I'd be embarrassed the first time at least anyway.
I'd be embarrassed ALL the time hehehe... could never do that without bursting in laughter :)
:D
Since the sounds and voices that they are making are really not part of the "lexicon of normal sounds" an actor sometimes needs to experiment with how their body needs to be, face, etc in order for them to create something that is true to the character. Think Andy Serkis and Golum for an example.
And believe me, actors don't have that lvl of being embarrassed that other people do. The whole idea is that they are employed to create characters. Whether it's Shakespeare, Stoppard, A big budget movie or a "light elf"
It's so natural that good actors can pretty much step into some sort of character right off the bat without thinking of it (and later experimentation and direction from the "Director" will further hone that).
Essentially that's a long way of saying "It's part of the job". And if they are doing stage work they need to be able to carry on the scene as naturally as possible if someone doesn't make an entrance, drops a line, etc.
lol.. once, I was playing "The Principle" in a production of "Footloose" (My girlfriend was in it... they needed more guys, enough said) and at one very "crucial" scene where we learn that "there is no dancing allowed", the Lead and the supporting actor both forgot their lines and jumped directly to their last line in the scene (even though we "just started" the scene).
So I had to take both their lines and my lines and create a sort of "one man" monologue explaining the entire scene while seemingly "chewing them out" and had to be in character the entire time. So staying in character "no matter what" is very important.
I've done more than my share of acting, and when you let the character subsume the actor is when you start to enter into the realm of being memorable. I've learned over the years that making the audience cry is fairly easy, but I took the challenge a little further during A Christmas Carol.
Playing Bob Cratchet, I actually made the other actors on stage cry during the 'future' scene.
One of my best, and unfortunately the only time I've managed it.

Well, I would like to see the actors who did the voices for the Orc NPCs (Beeeyahhhh!!) and the male dwarfes. Actually, I'd also kinda like to have seen the actors who did the voices of the male and female Prophets when they are casting buffs.

From what I could see, the female fighter and the female mystics are done by the same girl, that korean (I think she was Korean) girl from the video. If you pay close attention, the voices are quite similar, with just a small difference in female mystics tone of voice.
But yeah, I miss seeing the human fighters and human casters. And the female DE's, I love their voices.
I thought it was quite cute to see that the one that does the voices of the little girl dwarves has actually a child's voice... she seemed really friendly in that video :)
Actually I'd love seeing that! More than that, I'd love seeing the singers and bands that actually recorded the radio songs! Some are actually quite neat! :)
