stun needs better land rate.... what a joke LOL. +0 stun still lands way to much. I can get stunned consistantly wearing zaken/frintezza. I also get rooted by mobs wearing baium/zaken/IC heavy something like 150% root resist with mental shield consistantly. sthu or get your own
I can use STUN lvl 12 on my wee little lvl 46 dwarf and stun someone in maj with zak jewel...lol... stun is bad! Granted it will take me 20 tries...but still...
These things are all over the place
Well I can tell you where they are not...and thats on me! I am sorry I am poor, so I can't wear the fancy jewels!!!!
Boss jewels are distributed based on class within strong alliances. No one gives a tank or a buffer or a dwarf jewels unless its for Olympiad, but we all know thats not real pvp...
Classes who rely on the skills in which boss jewels resist get screwed because A) the jewels dont help them much if they have any and B) the jewels shutdown their class in pvp when worn by the enemy.
Boss jewels cater to select classes and crap all over people who need to stun and root in pvp. Wheres the "resist wind" or "resist lethal strikes" or "resist archery" or "resist cancel" jewels?
I say the next Boss jewel needs to have: Descrease Resistance to Dark Magic by 200%

Look at how many times stun and hold are mentioned in those jewels compared to fire or darkness. Did NC run out of ideas? I mean theres a lot more dangerous stuff than stun and root out there...
Whiners. It's no doubt that boss jewels are overpowered. They should be nerfed severly to only add a few % advantage. (I mentioned this in another post).
Look at how many times stun and hold are mentioned in those jewels compared to fire or darkness. Did NC run out of ideas? I mean theres a lot more dangerous stuff than stun and root out there...
It's even worse because "Resistance to Stun/Shock" not only means what it says it means, it's also a damage reduction from shock-bases attacks. "You use Hammer Crush. BossJewelsRobeWearer has resisted your Hammer Crush. You hit BossJewelsRobeWearer for 7 damage."
As it is a complete and utter "waste" to put boss jewels on say, a healer, they really should come out with some that reduce arrow damage or something.
Sure, when there are 2 parties of "cough" autologging in at the exact moment they had last killed the sucker.
I've seen the exact same dwarf you sell the boss jewels in giran for months, if one of the jewels is gone suddenly, i've seen it right back there within an extremely short period of time.
Actually, what I would like them to do is say two people have a boss jewel, then the effect during battle should be null'd out. that way it would be worth the dwarf, OL, Nuker having them too.
Why should only certain toons get the full use of these anyways?
If they cancel each other out when two combatants are wearing them, then it seems like you reduce the PvP back down to the players themselves.
I've seen AQ sell for as cheaply as 400M, but I agree with your point...it's almost always the same two dorfs selling them, and they always seem to have an endless supply.
I find it interesting that often the very people that say things like 'stop whining about boss jewels go get your own' and 'you don't have to e-bay to get boss jewels' are also openly discussing their 9-man zombie parties running 24/7 on other forums.
However, boss jewels can certainly be obtained by almost anyone that has been an active player for a year or more and spent a portion of their time accumulating wealth (operating buy/sell shops regularly, devoting some time to manoring, crafting and selling items that have sell value > craft value, etc.).
Even I could buy one or two boss jewels (if I sold almost all my gear I could get AQ and Zaken and re-equip in non-OE A grade). However, it is clear that the boss jewels benefit cheaters and e-bayers more than anyone else. But, that is nothing new, L2 has been that way for at least 3 years :(
I want any of the boss jewels that increases attack speed, cast speed, etc. Of course, not sure when I'll be high enough level on any of my toons to wear them. CT XIV...maybe.
Well, the bonuses for the Ring of Core should be reworked altogether. You can get an augment to accuracy that's just as good as what you get from that ring. Plus, with buffs, misses are rare anyway (at least with the bow).
Boss jewels should give offensive bonuses to the things they give defensive bonuses.
For example, Zaken could still be 40% resist stun, but could also become a stuns work 40% more often. So a Zaken vs Zaken would become normal land rate, and then everyone would have some benefit of wearing some boss jewelry.
Not to mention that we DEFINITELY need some resist arrow jewelry.
Gear is too barebones, and boss jewels are a way to alleviate that at the end-game. Itemization requires boss jewels to be the way they are, sorry. The problem with boss jewels are that they are "epic" items that are freely tradeable and can be sold. That is a fault of the game design, cause they really shouldn't be freely tradeable.
If you want a way to distribute them they clans need to get more organized and figure out rotations for who will get them when they drop, but all this freely tradeable gear/epic items has really unbalanced the game on so many levels, it's funny.
Boss Jewels shouldn't change much, but there should be an option to "turn them around". IE, either you go for the defenses, or select the "Offense" option, and instead of resistances you get the bonuses to those sorts of attacks.
AQ and Zanken are so expensive because they are farmed everytime the bosses spawn, and then sold for adena which is then sold online for irl money.
most big alliances dont even bother trying to kill those bosses because its to annoying to fight off the bots for that.
Ring of Core is also farmed, but that ring kinda blows anyway.
Boss jewls are supposed to be something that you earn after lots of hard work. And the expensive prices that you pay for the "obtainable" ones are really showing that you know how to make money in the game, which is 90% of the game for me. Unless you ebay of course, but thats just a different story all together.
Baium/Frintessa/Antharas/Valakas are meant to be hard as hell to get and they require lots of planning and organization on top of having the high level toons to do it.
Antharas most ppl dont even bother for any more except for bragging rights, the SA's on it just aren't what ppl are looking for.
Either way, i think boss jewls are fine the way they are and should be left alone, just add a new one with a awsome new hard as hell epic boss.
With more than 1 "perfect" set of boss jewls for each class, everything will be a lot more interesting imo.
any boss jewls gives you things that you didnt have before.
any boss jewl can be worn be any class.
show me someone who wouldn't like an extra boost of HP, or stun resistance.
hell even nukers would like an extra patk. ever hunt and have those mobs that you can 2 shot and then smack 4-5 times to save some MP?
and DD's would like an extra Matk.
show me one stat that everyone would not benifit from.
There's a difference between "benefitting" from a set of stat boosts, and an item being all but *designed* for a class.
As was discussed just a few posts up, Boss Jewels go to the classes that benefit the most from them, and not to people like buffers or dwarves.
Certainly, +patk for a nuker is... kinda ok, I guess... but, wouldn't a caster-specific ring that granted +Matk, +MP, +MP Regen, +Cast Speed, +Run Speed, Resist Arrows, etc etc. be far more preferable than "making do" with a ring that's really designed for a melee character?
well i kinda see what you are saying.
however anything is better than nothing.
if you want all the boss jewls, then roll necro or archer or something like that and get into ur servers highest level clan that would get you that kind of stuff.
the rest of us just have to deal with "just benefitting" and ya know what i wouldn't roll nuker just to have a chance at getting frintezza. i would rather play the class i like and deal with the fact that boss jewls dont make me all that great.
if you are dedicated enough in what you do, you can eventually obtain boss jewls and proudly display them on you toon and the class that they arent "awsome" for.
and hell ima BD and i would love +matk, regen, mp, cast speed.
my defbuffs would be so much more useful :)
they only add 1 epic boss every chronicle (to the best of my knowledge) and really, thats enough. they also have to think about the masses. if 40% of the servers are nukers, then its a great move for NC to make a ring suited for a nuker, its keeps them playing cause now they want that **** jewl. thats where i think the concepts come from, but hey thats just me.
Actually Sch, the current boss jewel implementation don't correspond to something you earn after a lot of hard work. They are something drops once per boss every time it is killed. Most fights needed to kill these in the past were nothing more than giant zergs. In many cases, that is still all they are; a lot of people at these raids are doing nothing more than holding down f1 to use their primary nuke if a mage or just using autoattack if they are an archer. The only ones who have to actually do more than heal/recharge/rebuff are the melee characters, and even then their choice of actions is rather arbitrary.
If you were part of a zertg group who took a boss down, congrats on people a nonunique member amongst a large group of indistinct members who attacked a boss to kill some free time.
Being the fastest marathon runner in the world, now that is a true accomplishment which you can only earn after a lot of really hard REAL work. Sitting in front of a computer screen pressing f1 & f2 is not hard work; the only time it is going to cause you to break a sweat is when you do it in a hot room. Before you say that my definition of hard work as only hard physical work is unfair, I will simply say that I would also consider becoming the world's best chessplayer to be an accomplishment equal to being the world's fastest marathon runner.
If we are to consider hard work in this game, what we really mean is spending larger than normal amounts of time sitting in front of a pc; there isn't really anything particularly hard about sitting on your [censored] unless your chair is. Therefore anything which is a reward for spenind large amounts of time leveling a character must not be something that is distributed on a luck based system to random people whose presence in a zerg is insignificant. What really needs to be a reward is something you get specifically related to spending lots of time. A quest which requires you to kill 100,000 of a certain mob and then gives you a reward is more inline with rewarding you for lengthy work than a random jewelery drop in a zerg type setting.
If they do add a new boss jewel drop, it should come from a boss which is only killable solo, which you have to really know the ins and outs of your class to kill and even then you will be in for tough 20-40 minute fight. Such a jewel drop will only be obtainable once per characterand only once every six months per account.
Or perhaps a reward for the person who spends the most time doing something such as the current record holder for most posts (MalineII?) or a weekly merit based reward. A weekly contest for the best story set in the L2 world would be a nice feature.
there isn't really anything particularly hard about sitting on your [censored] unless your chair is.
No kidding. The chair I had before the chair before the chair I have now was unbearable. It was one of those engineer's chairs (I'm rather short and my desk is rather tall) that was little more than a board with some fabric stretched over it.
I lack padding on my bum, long periods of PC gaming really sucked <-.->
As it is a complete and utter "waste" to put boss jewels on say, a healer, they really should come out with some that reduce arrow damage or something.
yeah, we were just saying that last night.... Healers should get the Resist Arrow buff that tanks get. Those archers go right for us the minute we heal anyone.
yeah ok lets see
1) i never ever even claimed to have been anywhere near being in a party that took out an epic boss. closest i ever even got to one was for my subclass.
2
) your theory of work is 100% valid. however you fail to see something. if people are playing a game, then they are going to devote their time to it (as little or as much as that may be). being able to play your class well and become good enough to be able to take part in an epic boss raid, is indeed a merit of hard work. for this game, grinding is work. sitting in my chair has nothing to do with it. i dont know why you think that i am talking about actual difficult labor (mental or physical) as you posted. playing chess or running fast. i am purely talking in the realms of the game, if i wanted to talk about what i do irl i wouldn't post it in a gamer forum.
3) believe it or not being able to set up and execute things in the game, are proof of hard work. if you can go and beat something up with numbers, yeah thats not really hard work, but even then the people who will be getting the jewls (clan leader and descend down the ranks) do put a lot of hard work into those raids. picking the right classes, picking the people who know how to play them well, strategy, etc.... I know that even when i do small raids i dont just bring along people that can mash that F1 key over and over. I bring people that i know can play well and deserve to have a chance for drops/fun/xp from whatever i am doing. and i cannot speak for everyone here only myself, but do you really think that the huge ally leaders that take down such epic bosses really just let random people into the raids because they hit the F1 key over and over? i mean it couldn't have anything to do with the fact that they worked their [censored] off to get into position to even be noticed by those leaders could it?
4) i think ur idea of a soloable raid boss is a great idea. i loved the quest monsters for my 3rd class change quest for that reason. even tho it was a fast easy thing, you still had to at least show some form of knowing your class to complete it. and i find it sad that there are not more things like that in the game. however, this is a Massive Multiplayer game, it would kind of take away from the whole point of the game to make epic jewls obtainable solo, wouldn't it? maybe a unique random accessory or something like that.
5) ur idea for rewards based on things like posts and stories is a good one, but once again not something that should be granted a boss jewl for. completely takes away from the Massive Multiplayer theme.
im sorry if you dont understand the concept of "speaking in the realms of the game" but in the game, you need to work at what you do. killing an epic raid boss, does involve work if you are speaking in the realms of the game. any actual physical irl work? not really and there you are correct. but once again way to just try to pick apart my posts by trying to change what i am saying to better suit what you wanna say.
who are all these people saying epic jewlery is worthless for healers? lol
zaken, antharas, frintezza are made for robe users.... like healers.
Sure they help everyone becuase no one wants to be stunned, but they are made for robe users because they are the esaiest to stun.
I have a frintezza, baium, ant queen & zaken.
I am a 77 sh, 76 warlock, 77 he, 64 bishop.... everyone of my classes benefits from all of the jewlery i have. Maybe minus the AQ... but even it has resistances.
any boss jewls gives you things that you didnt have before.
any boss jewl can be worn be any class.

LOL @ high level nukers meleeing high level mobs to save MP.
That has gotten to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.
You do know that you have to be B grade or above to wear any boss jewel? And most of them are A Grade and higher. Have fun meleeing mob down in VoS/FoTD/Hot Springs/etc. to save some MP!!!
Seriously, most nukers will go get Malaria 10 before they bother to melee a high level mob down to save some pitiful MP.
Sorry, but Lineage 2 is no different than any other MMO. Nukers do not want items with melee bonuses, because the melee bonuses are useless especially when they certainly overpower melee & physical range classes in the PvP aspect of the game.
You can, like the other person who listed all the jewels and highlighted the few effects that benefitted mages as opposed to all the other effects that are "made for melee/physical range" but it won't change the fact that on a mage 90% of boss jewels are for bragging rights. The melee bonuses on them are worthless, for the most part.
I believe we meant worthless as in people would say, boss jewels, you don't need it you are a healer/buffer, [censored] of here. So unless you buy it it's unlikely the clan would hand it over to a healer/buffer before every archer there is, then nukers.. etc
when did i ever say that i thought that all mages went out and melee'd mobs?
my point was that all jewls give you bonus' that ALL classes can use.
the fact that not everyone boxes an SE/EE for as much mana as they can get at any given time, and they need to conserve mana obviously didnt come into your mind tho. plus just cause you dont do things and your friends dont do them, doesnt mean that no one in the game does. especially at high levels with no recharger, i see people that are smart enough to conserve their mana. let see the trade offs tho
1) smacking a mob twice taking little to no HP damage
or
2) using another spell thats gonna use your mana that could have instead been used to take out half of the next mobs HP
ever been silence? what do you do then, just run away?
hell no, you start beating the >< outta the person.
what about the people that are smart enough to carry around an extra weapon in case they get silenced?
and once again, dont talk about high level things like you have been there, you are A grade still. and as you pointed out you cant even wear most boss jewls yet.
when did i ever say that i thought that all mages went out and melee'd mobs?

If I go get Malaria 10, I don't even need recharges from my SE. Most places up to S Grade that a mage will level in will drop herbs, which makes Recharge unnecessary. This is especially true when you have a 16% mana preservation "buff" on you that lasts over 2 buffrounds.
You don't need to melee mobs down period; and, some mobs crit hard or cast spells that can 1 shot a mage if they crit. I've had mobs crit nukes on me, and 1 shot me, out of no where in VoS quite a few times. <3 Flash of Splendor. A crit stab from a Blade of Splendor can be over 650 damage, and it's a high evasion mob with high critical chance/power. The DoTs from Wisdom are uncurable, and can take you from 100% to 30% HP in 30 seconds.
When you get higher up in levels, you move to areas of the zone that have higher level variants of the same mobs (Punishment/Wailing of Splendor, Fang of Splendor, etc.). Meleeing mobs down to save some MP is inefficient 85% of the time. Just kill it and move on. If you have MP troubles run to Hot Springs and get buffed, or duo with a recharger.
1) You have to run up to the mob to kill it, and OTW there, you can get Poisoned/Bleed/Uncurable DoT'ed/Nuked/etc. Since nukers have low P.Atk it might take more than 2 hits since the mob will most likely regen some HP while you're running to hit it (and of course if it's not casting it's coming for you).
2) Every nuker except SPS gets at least 1 level of B2M. Nuke the mob, B2M and move on. It's a more efficient loss of HP IMO. If there are so many 3 shot mobs around where you level, you should find a different place to level.
If I'm silenced I use my Blessed Scroll of Escape: Clan Hall. No use fighting a losing battle. Am I supposed to own the Necro/SH/Melee with Doom Augment/etc. with my mage P.Atk? I don't think so. Silence = Dead. Even a Dwarf will kill you if they have a Doom augment and silence you. BSOE FTW.
I can have a +20 Angel Slayer and I'm still not gonna own anyone that silences me. The only other mage that can silence will also be wearing DC and can outrun me (kite kite kite!), and any melee class that has a doom augment will laugh at my melee damage as they plummel me into the ground.
What is your point?
It's basic game mechanics, level doesn't have [censored] to do with it.
Learn to capitalize and punctuate. Your post is about as readable as your name.
ok well im sorry, maybe your morals just arent the same as mine, but i dont care if i am 100% dead i do not turn around and BSOE on friends or clannies in PVP. XP is XP and can be gained back, respect or lack there of for not being willing to die...... nevermind lol
most nukers that i know personally feel the same way and therefore some, that can afford it, carry a melee weapon just for that reason. you would be surprised at how annoying even an extra 50 cp being taken away from a nuker melee'ing you will be. sometimes people even change targets just to take out that nuker, and that can very well change the outcome.
and i am sorry that not every nuker without a SE boxed does not want to get to their favorite leveling spot, level for a few mins then have to go all the way back to town, then hot srpings, then back to their leveling spot.
i could sit here and pick apart the rest of your argument, and i will do so if you choose but start another thread, cause i hate going off topic to much.
the simple fact is that all boss jewls give extra stats to all classes that even if only usefull 15% of the time (as you said) they are usefull non the less. the stats might not be optimized for your class, i never said that, all i said was that they are usefull none the less.
p.s.
way to try and insult my lack of proper grammer. i know i mis-spell words all the time, and i know i never capitalize anything, deal with it or just dont read the post. and that has no baring on the fact that i am right lol. sorry that you dont understand the complex mechanics and understanding of an alias either.
and the level comment was only stating that you are A grade, and most boss jewls as you said yourself are S grade ....so im saying you have no personal experience so go level some more, spend 2 months gaining no XP and just playing the market so you can afford a boss jewl like i did, then come back and we'll talk.
LOL @ high level nukers meleeing high level mobs to save MP.
That has gotten to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.
ROFL, I completely agree
ever been silence? what do you do then, just run away?
hell no, you start beating the >< outta the person.
That is the 2nd dumbest thing I've heard. Lol :p
Even with a +30 dagger you won't be able to kill much of anyone if you go Melee while silenced. You either run away till Silence wears off, or Bsoe.
refer to my post above.
and even if you completely disagree with every statement that i make, that doesn't change the underlining point that i am making.
every boss jewl gives every class stats that they did not have before. and even if these jewls are not "made" for your class, they are still useful to every class regardless.
and i still ask you to show me a boss jewl that does not have at least 1 stat that you would like.
if i am wrong i will admit it, however everyones personal play experience is different. i am not saying that your points are invalid, for you i am sure that they are 100% correct. there is no need to go calling people stupid and insulting them over mere opinons. all you have to say is "in my experience things are different". if you want to just insult people and get off topic, just go to blah please.
Erm, where ever did you read in my post that I've "insulted" you? Please read and re-read again till you can point that out to me. I said those "statements" were dumb, I didn't say anything about the person (you) being dumb.
You said show you a few Boss Jewels that are near insignificat to me?
Sure, how about these 2 for start:
Ring of Core
Ring of Queen Ant
yeah, sure, they might make a somewhat of a negligible bonus for my nuker, but the crappy gains these 2 rings provide are no where justyfiable of their cost in adenas. Even for their enchanced M.Deff, it would still be cheaper to OE a regular set of jewels.
1) i never said you were insulting i was refering to the other guy, sorry if it seemed like i was aiming that towards you.
2) cost was never put in as a factor until now. if you are talking about cost versus what it gives you, then yes i 100% agree with you. for a nuker, so i would not say that they are worth it.
40% resistance to poison is good and all, but not for the cost of the ring of core.
same goes for the AQ for nukers. the little benifits are not worth what it would cost you to get the jewl (since it is farmed and you need to buy it from our automated friends).
cost out of the picture however i would still grab those up for a nuker if available. but once again, thats just me :P
If I go get Malaria 10, I don't even need recharges from my SE.
Why in gods name would any intelligent Mage ever get milaria 10???
Because in PvE cast speed is nice and all (malaria 4 = 15'ish % cast speed), but consistency in kill speed, MP management, and uptime is > all that.
From a pure PvE perspective I would take Malaria 10 over Malaria 4 (especially if Sorceror or DEFINITELY SPS) because it allows you to kill much longer at similar speed due to the awesome Clarity effect.
Also, if you are in DC (FOTM Robe Set) and a mob has a sliver left after 2 shots; you may want to consider using a Nightmare robes, which should allow you to kill them with two nukes. Nightmare robes sells for under half the price of an A Grade weapon with SA, and less than alot of B Grade weapons.
Meleeing mobs that have a sliver left after 2 shots is very stupid.
But this is what is to be expected from someone who things anyone 7x knows everything about the game, yet, doesn't even have a single mage in his signature. What others tell you isn't always true. I've played games with more complicated battle/spell systems than Lineage II (at end game), so don't argue with me about basic mana management and game mechanics. You sound like this is the only game that you've played for a factorable length of time (sch3djfsd or whatever you name is, that is).
And yes, you should learn proper grammar and punctuation. Your style of writing reflects on you personally, IMO. If you come across sloppy in your posts, one can only assume...
But,what do I know? I'm just some clueless nerd with no life :)
I believe we meant worthless as in people would say, boss jewels, you don't need it you are a healer/buffer, [censored] of here. So unless you buy it it's unlikely the clan would hand it over to a healer/buffer before every archer there is, then nukers.. etc
erm you're in the wrong clan then as we gave our first Frint to our OL and 2nd to our most active healer also we sold a few baium rings to get zakens for our mages and AQ for our active dd's be them bd's/sws's or actual archers..
ah and Anthy is killable pretty easy if you know how same for Valakas as UR showed us
epic jewels are usable by all classes, some work better for mages/healers some for archer/dd's..
imagine a 78+ prophet with frint & baium like omgomgomg aka Mathias he can cast root fast and often if he wanted and eventually it will land even on ppl with boss jewels
also how about oeing your skillz as their land rate is that of the last learned skill lvl versus the lvl of the mob/player you try to land it on and by oeing it will increase the lvl of the skill..
hell even nukers would like an extra patk. ever hunt and have those mobs that you can 2 shot and then smack 4-5 times to save some MP?
Even if they do that (as an EE, I sometimes do), you need no less than 20% DPS increase to see any difference there. No combination of boss jewels gives that big increase to meleeing mystic classes.
remove/weaken end-game futures? people would stop killing the raid-bosses. so why not remove them as well? atm I dont have any epic jewelry (sold my AQ) but still I want them to stay the same. i would like even more of them ingame, maybe twice as many, but maybe not as strong as those that we have already. some that has a "low" drop-rate from 70+ raids, and smaller SA's.
Necklace of Valakas
Resistance to Fire attribute +15%
Resistance to Sleep attribute +80%

Hero RB lvl up crystals, and he is easy. Some high lvl raids (not lvl SA crystal or quest related) should drop this jewlery.
I know this is off topic, but it seems like maybe you would know. Do the hero rift bosses level it to 11, 12, and 13? For some reason I thought it was just lvl 13 that it leveled the crystal to.
