according to patch notes translated on blah you can enchat armor to +/-resist with the follow setups:
fire/water
earth/wind
light/dark
weak to 1 resist to other...
Now what is the point of haveing a resist to light or earth? these are just completely pointless as far as I can tell. Also at this point in the game nukers aren't even the probelm. It's archer, but thereasdfads;lfjksad;flksdfh
I hate ncsoft. Kinda wish the devs knew what -_- was going on in their own game. anyway...
If I would have to guess (NC way of doing things). The enchatment you can put on your armor will most likely be the same as the stones you put on your weapon. So look for something like a .01% better resist.
Resist earth might be good if your going to fight Antharas, that is if his foot stomp or tail whip is an earth atk thing. Or if you just like jumping off high mountions.
...or if youre going against someone with refinements on their weapon?
Active: Attacks by throwing a boulder
or maybe
Active: Inflicts an earthen attack in the shape of a parabola (oh em gee anything but the parabola! here take my adenas!)
While we're on the subject, shouldn't petrify constitute an earth attack?
Cos everyone will just go ++wind ++dark --earth --light ....and leave fire/water neutral.
while that might mostly be true. I wouldn't hold that as fact.
Meely classes, namely: daggers, tank's, etc.. might be inclined to go + earth to block off the Root/Arrest effect.
Also DoT's are getting boosted in their effects so you might actually see them used more often. Ever been hit with Decay (which btw is earth based)?
Now with alot of them FoTM SpS, SH, Necros, you'd see alot of people doing + water, wind, dark resist.
But if you do + dark, you lose blocking ability towards sps's light vortex, solar flair, aura blot, and aura flair, Also to holy weapon. But don't forget there is still hope with resist holy, and divine protection.
So the guess would be left to the player considering what their enemy's are, and whats most common to come agents on their server.
I may go resist dark on my DA just becuase... you know. And maybe on my SH, SE also. And maybe resist fire on my tyrant and WC, and resist earth on my WS my TH will have to stay as it is
It was my understanding that hold was it's own attribute all together.
The only attacks that have the earth attribute that I've heard of are:
Decay
Dance of Medusa (i.e. petrification, NOT paralysis)
Antharas' Breath
OE'd Spoil/Spoil Festival

Root is earth type aswell which means if you go earth>wind you will resist it alot, but any SH will kill you in seconds

Curse Disease is also an Earth type spell.
I was quite suprised yesterday, I shield blocked two Death Spikes in arena from another Necro.
Hydroblast is the only main nuke that cannot be shield blocked so I think it may be a good idea to go Aqua resist.
When was SPS ever a FotM unless it was oh, c3 and prior? People will do dark for necro/sh, that's about it.
When Aura Flare was a direct-damage spell with a casting time of 0.05 seconds and a recast of 0.01 seconds... she'd drop a tank in mere seconds, though you'd think her arms would fly off.
Well considering most will take -resistance for Earth, it would be wise to get Earth Elemental dmg for Weapon.
But considering the likelyhood of 76+ resist buffs elemental protection+divine protection, along with the new SWs elemental song....its probable that overall Physical DDs will find they are doing more PvP dmg with non-attributed weaponry. Since a main reason holy/unholy weapon buffs are party only , is to prevent them being used as stealth debuffs.
So I believe in many cases, elementalising any weapon will result in PvP gimpage , and will be avoided and used only for PvE.
