Inventory order of items - Does it always change?

General Discussion Started Last reply 5 posts
I regularly use potions of Alacrity, Healing, and Haste. When I log in, I move those to the top of my bag. Is there a way to retain the order of your inventory so that you don't have to reset them each login?

If not, it's no big deal as it's only three items, but if there is a way to retain the order I'd like to do that.
Move them to one of your hot bars makes it a lot easier. Also please use the Player questions section instead of General for questions.
You think thats bad? Try a dwarf warehouse with all the similar mats and blades.

is there any pattern to it? Maybe it's S-->NG in that order. See how the recipe book actually orders stuff around in it? You'd think the wh would as well.
Good suggestion, Taz.

Mods, can you move this to Player Questions, please?

Inventory is pretty much ordered by item creation date/time. Items that don't stack will always have the same 'order' in comparison to other items, while items which 'stack' are ordered based on the date/time that the stack itself was created.

Thus if you have a second account and plenty of time/organization you could 'order' the sequence of your material stacks simply by 'reselling' all your materials from one character to another before putting them back into the warehouse. (Just don't ever completely use up a stack of mats! That would reset, the stack creation date/time.)

Of course this is a bit limited, as any full item can disrupt your 'ordering' just by having been created at a specific date/time.

I haven't done enough testing to see if/when full items get 're-ordered' and hopefully, CT1 changes will make needing to do this unnecessary anyway. (Well we can hope anyway.)

As for the Recipe book...I think it's based on when the devs added the recipe to the database. But I'm not sure. All I can extrapolate so far is the order is preset and adding removing the recipes sticks them back in the same order.
