Remember When Buffs went from 10 Minutes to 20 ?

I wish they made it 30 ;p

That's my one complaint for the day.

Have a great weekend. -Bambam
ummm when was this? /checks open beta notes

always been 20 as far i can remember.
I don't remember them being at 10 minutes only either. Oo Ok I am a C1'er but still.
No it really had been 10 some loooong loooong time ago.
Heck, why not just make it an hour? Except, I can see all the people squirming in their chair now "Oh, bladder's full, but I gotta make it to the end of the buff round!" :) (Yes, I do have slightly different sense of humor.)
they were 15 min in prelude.
No, it's actually very realistic observation.
Happens pretty often even with buffs lasting 20 minutes :p
umm no buffs have always been 20 minutes since open beta.

I'm not sure that is true. They did increase buffs at one time. I don't know what they "were" but I seem to remember some patch note indicating that buff times were changing.

Then again, perhaps I'm just going senile and Robots are NOT trying to steal my luggage.
I don't know about the robots and your luggage, but I seem to remember that buffs were increased from 10 to 20 minutes either during OB or as a mid-game patch in Prelude as well.
I remember buffs were increased to 20 minutes because some other online game had its buffs at 20 minutes. I don't recall how long buffs originally lasted.
Longer buffs and same buff cost... x.x Sign me up so I can have some freaking MP!
15 minutes, they were originally 15 minutes. Many of you may recall that there was a big push to move cubics to 20 min because they no longer synced with buffs.

To reiterate, originally 15 minute buffs.

XD I always wondered why my cubics go bye bye after 15 minutes. I guess I was too much of a noob back in OB and prelude to remember them changing the buff time.

Dang, they really need to make cubes 20 minutes.
I don't remember then being shorter but I didn't even know what buffs WERE until prelude sometime. <.< (I played a EK)
I can't say I honestly recall when the change was made, but do believe it was after retail release, not prior; then again, playing in Korean, China, and NA Beta, it may have all rolled into one at this point.

10 Minutes sticks in my head strongly. Perhaps one of the fan site mods, or NCsoft folks can do an archive search of some sort and settle this trivia question -)

I stand by 10 Minutes as the initial buff period, and remember how it drove me nuts. The increase to 20 Minutes was huge, but these days, 20-minutes seems to fly by.......

Honestly, I don't recall either. Part of the reason for that is because I didn't get my first buff until I was in my mid-40s on the SH. That's right, I leveled all the way up without any buffs -- which was one of the reasons why I started overenchanting everything. And believe me, once I did get my first buff, I was too busy killing things to keep track of the duration. (This was before buffs had a visible countdown timer.)

I'll sign on to increasing buff durations for ALL buffs, including level 78+ end game and servitor buffs. Who are they kidding, everyone has at least one buffbot now, so the odds of buffs dropping are slim and none anyway, unless they are cancelled.
I hardely remember I think there was a change to the time, but that was a looooong time ago I barely remember something like that.
It's all relative. The music I grew up with people call "Classic Rock" .. lol .. but to me, it feels like yesterday.

"What a drag, it is, getting old" -Stones ;)
I played since late closed beta, but I can't answer it because I didn't get any buffs until mid Open Beta (lol) ^^;;
They definately increased the buff timer from 10min to 20min with C1 expension. I can't find it in patch notes but I'm 100% positive on that. I remember it well, it was a great improvement.
ugh no if it was changed it was in open beta because otherwise it would of been in patch notes because that would be a major change.
No it was mid chronicle patch, but i can't rewcall if it was C1 or prelude.
Well I remember clearly talking about it in clan chat. So it has happened. But I think Physics4ever is right, it was a mid-chronicle patch.

lolnoob
this game barely ran in ob

For you.

The China, Korean and NA Beta ran flawlessly for "me". Perhaps I had a better computer than you /shrug

Only issue I recall was first few days of retail. Now that was funny with hundreds/thousands of players in the same spot at the same time. Reminded me of UO release day when you paused between steps... ouch !

yup im a noob only been playing for 3+ years do people even have a clue what the word means?
"Noob" has no relation to how long you've played the game :p
I played a dwarf, I don't remember any buffs until C2 when I got my first party.
are you sure your not thinking of potions. they use to last 10mins i think. they definatly didn't last as longs as buffs did, think thats what was changed so they lasted as long as a buff round. been playing since OB and dont remember any change to buff times.
Buffs originally started as 10 minute long with half the current costs. Then they doubled to 20 minutes along with the mp cost. This happened A LOOOOONG time ago, somewhere between OB and C1.
It was 10 minutes. I remember all the buffer classes complaining about this change.

On a tangent, remember when SwS and BD songs drew more aggro than Hate Aura?
THAT I remember!!!

umm no buffs have always been 20 minutes since open beta.

Shows how much you know, tbh, lol...

yup im a noob only been playing for 3+ years do people even have a clue what the word means?

quote from urbandictionary ^_^ :

A noob or n00b is someone that lacks intellegance or common sense, most people think that noob is a word used only in the online gaming world, but in reality it is becoming an ever popular word with teenage society.
a noob could be simply a level 100 running round shouting ''DO I GO!?'' or someone calling someone else a noob and then getting hit with a brick, anyone can call anyone a noob, but normally they are noobs themselves

*gets shot with chaingun*

"this game is no good, you all suck noobish balls you stupid noobs!*

Yep :)

Perhaps the old adage of getting old is true. My short term memory is shot, but certain longer term things I remember particularly well.

L2, more than any other MMO I've played in a long time, seems to grab me for long play sessions. The twenty minutes seems to fly by, plus, by the time the entire party is buffed the 20 minutes is already usually down to 18. Not a big deal at all, just every time my Prophet buffs, I find myself wishing they had made it 30 minutes when they first changed it.
