Entertaining situation

so, the other day a clan memebr of myne was out side of branded running to Heine when he happened across a REALLY red REALLY dead toon laying on the ground with no one else around...he went over and saw gear on the ground...so he spammed pick up and got alot of stuff includeing +4 top B duals, BW stockings<on a mele class> and 200+ C helm mats, 150ish Fp armor mats and a couple other strange things in large amounts for a normal toon to be carrying....

a little bit later he gets a Pm from the leader of some clan <remains nameless for now> and they say that they killed the red and wanted the drops back...


my clan member, with out being vulgar, said that they should have picked em up when they killed him instead of leaveing em on the ground like they did...their mistake...

the <nameless> clan decided to declare on my clan because of this 0.o


we didnt declare back cause we are growing again after a period of being dormant and dont want to scrue over our new academy members..


but today one of their memebrs went red on us and we were gonna kill em if we find them but they logged <lol>


so..who is right in yalls eyes?? lol seems cut and dry to me that they should ahve picked up drops if they kille him and <did i forget to mention> not goten vulgar with my clanny over the incident...


also from futher information , tey may be a BOTING CLAN!!! hahahahaaha

not just cause of the unusual mats the red was carrying<the red was not int he clan that declared on us>

There is no right or wrong (them botting is a separate issue).

You have the right to take that stuff and they have the right to declare on you for any reason at all.

You ask a good question as to why they didn't pick up in the first place. That's a bit fishy. But whatever. I'm sure you all will have fun with it.

It still seems to me that anything laying on the ground belongs to whomever picks it up (unless cooperative rules of division of spoils are agreed upon by participants).

At the same time, in L2, "might makes right".

Your clanmate actually owns the stuff he picked up. Whether he can keep should you all start getting slaughtered is another matter.

I say you have your buddy go red on an alt, have him take a death and grab a screenshot of the most uber clan on the server nearby. PM this other clan and tell them that your buddy got dropped while red and that the uber clan has their stuff now.

Screw them. Keep the drops. Let them war against you all they want. If they are truly botters, then they will eventually have to go back to doing what they do and write it off as a loss. If they are real players, they will eventually lose interest. Either way, there is nothing that they can do to make you give them the drops back. Welcome to L2.

Honestly, it doesn't really sound like the overall value of the drops was all that much. I'd ignore them if it were me. It wouldn't even be worth my time to discuss their perceived issue with my actions.

Gettin a war from farmers is nothing new, it will just start to piss ya off when they do their 1-way -> 2-way -> 1-way and so on game.

and don't worry about your academy members. As I recall academy member are not included in war. I think they don't even get wartag over their heads. Also, since they are lvl 20-40, xp loss is no big deal, they get it back plenty quick and they can use the SP anyway. Also, I think that if your enemy kills a academy member I beleive they go red for that. I might be wrong there. not sure

Correct. The Academy is not the Clan, and are not included in declarations of war.

As long as the academy member doesn't flag back :).

If people pick up my drops when I'm there they get an arrow up their butt. If they do it when I'm gone, well what can I do? :) It's just a game after all.

I loooove warring bot clans. Because theres always 1 that forgets to turn off auto-accept rez.

Declaring back does cut the death penalty. Then again, there is the issue of rep points....

If they were not around then how do they know who picked up the items? Maybe the red really is one of their members. You know, one of those alts they use for having fun.
