OMG, that was pretty fun, it was like doing the old CB of NA all over again just with Interlude.
They didn't even have to spawn über raidbosses or anything, seeing total lowlevel n00bs trying to kill level 70-80 mobs was priceless, all the while the GMs were announcing the various strategies the 5 starter towns were employing and at the same time they were telling the story of a mighty battle in the heavens or something with lots of earth shakings going on.
In the end Triol Priests and lavasaurus' spawned in the towns, 2 Priests and 1 Lavasaurus in each town, but that was enough to cause mass carnage of n00bies since these guys are agro and shoot, you could barely respawn before you were pelted with shots.
I had a fun time there, too bad it was so early in the morning EU/NA time (noon CET) that Elliebelly couldn't join me until it was over.
Here's a report from a journal by a SEA GM
The Glimpse's End event ran alright; faced with several level 70 Kariks, at first people grew tired of deleveling to them, then a brilliant orc decided to train a karik off the side of a cliff. This was after the rest of the server heard that four dwarves successfully defeated 'a servant of Shillen." Following that strategy it became a string of awesome sacrifices to pull the kariks out of the towns and herd them somehow toward the ocean or in the case of Dwarflands, they herded them off the nearest cliff. The Elves and Humans had to get a bit more creative when they realized they didn't have any cliffs. The yell of one player was pure comedy gold. "BUT WE DON'T HAVE ANY CLIFFS!" Someone replied "What's a cliff?!" and then someone else had the brilliant idea "Let's lure it to the sea, maybe it'll drown."
Somehow the Elves lured their kariks out to Iris Lake and trapped them there.
The first Karik the DE were able to get rid off was trailed by a lone DE, named Jarlaxle.
After a crushing defeat at the hands of Tirol Priests (stupid things) the elves and humans banded together to kill Lavasauruses, level 80 mobs from the cave of Valakas, one each from their respective towns. That was impressive.
You know, I've been around veteran players for so long that it was really great to get to experience hordes of *true* n00bs in Lineage II again, a sight I hadn't seen since OB.
Well, you weren't supposed to be enjoying this beta as it was only supposed to be available to players of the 3 countries and VIPs.
Not that the restriction was all that hard to get around, but you took away a spot from a very limited pool of beta access keys which another player could have used and thats bad.

Well... TBH, how is his presence on the server any different from your presence? They easily could have replaced YOUR presence with another random person's presence. VIP or not, you were both invited.
Honestly, I have no problem with either of you being there. If you are going to call someone out, then you had better be looking at yourself as well.

Because there were only made a finite amount of beta keys to pass around, we didn't take any of those keys away from anyone, ours were special VIP accounts specially created for us by the permission of NCSoft Korea and AsianMedia, if there were 200 beta spots and we joined there would still be 200 beta spots, but if Art joined there would now only be 199 beta spots.

Makes better sense now?
I know that, but you could have told them that you wanted someone else to have a chance experiencing it and that they should give out one more beta key in your place. See my point?
Yes, you did and it had to be a phone number for one of those 3 countries, phonenumbers that didn't match the mobile phone number scheme of those 3 countries were discarded.
With the distribution model that AsianMedia had, there was a set amount selected, so no more would be created. Even if we had said no, there still would be the exact same amount of public beta keys available.
Not that it matters now, the closed beta is over. It just irked me a bit because I was one of the people who had to randomly select the CB players and saw how many were sent away disappointed, with a list of names and all their personal details, it just made it a wee bit more personal, heh.
First off, I doubt he actually got in. Second, if he did, then they did select him. They COULD have called the phone number to confirm it, but obviously didn't.

Or he bought/bargained for/stole a SEA cellphone number.
Just goes to show you that no matter what you do and no matter where you are, there'll always be people complaining about events.
Yeah... which is probably why the event team just says screw it and throws stuff together. If people are going to complain either way, why not put minimal effort into it. I know thats what I would do.
Yes, its the same event. Everyone that participated gets to keep their names in OB.
And no, retail will not be made available to people outside of those countries, as per the agreement with NCSoft, it really would be silly otherwise because then AsianMedia would be competing with NCSoft NA for some of the same customers.
I guess you could cheat your way into the OB and retail, but you would encounter a serious problem, since currently their accounts can only be paid by gametime cards, not credit cards...and unless you can get gametime cards locally somehow, then you'd be out of luck.
I've heard that asiamedia is in talks with NCsoft NA to allow players from the Oceania region on to the SEA servers.
But personally I don't see it happening, When was the last time any company put players before profits. :p
Oceanic players should be able to play well on west coast servers. SEA servers would offer lag as well, as none of them are located outside the SEA region.
Even with that, gotta wonder if it would even be worth it for AsianMedia, having to set up game card sales for that region with no set up partners, not to mention trying to market their game to a kind of players that are different than the SEA ones.
It's not the lag, it's time zones. 12 hours from here to euro servers 18 to US servers, that sort of thing makes sieges impossible. Whereas about 4 hours to SEA servers is a lot more playable.
Not really interested in playing in SEA servers; I just want to know when NA is going to start blocking people from countries that have their own version in their area. If they can do it in Korea, SEA and other places, I want it done here. (Limited to NA/SA/EU). Seems the fair thing to do.
I don't think that will happen, each person represents money in the bank. NCsoft NA will try to get as many people they can from anywhere while trying to protect there own areas.
