Hey guys, after playing my gladi to a little over B grade I'm in the mood for a little PvP. So I decided to create an archer(A silver ranger to be exact, and I've already made up my mind about this because he is already lvl 20+). I just have a few questions that you could maybee anwser.
NOTE: This guy is mainly going to be used for ganking D and C graders. But every once in a while I might tangle with a B or A grader.
1. What Grade/LvL should I stop at? Once I start PvPing; this guy is going to be a perma red so I really don't want to lvl with him after I start PvPing. Do you think a high lvl C grader would be enough. Or should I just go for B grade? (I think B grade would probably be the highest I could go just because A grade would just cost to much adena and take to long to get to.)
2. What equiment should I get? I'm guessing top grade bow would be best but what augmentation should I get for it? Should I get top grade armor for my guy or get something lower grade or should I just stick with like no grade to reduce my losses if I die.
3. What about tatoos. I'm guessing something like STR +4, CON -4; but is there anything else I should get?
4. I've never been a perma red and I had a few quick questions. How do you sign up for the seal fight if you can't go into town. For that matter how do you get into your warehouse or a gorcery store to get some random equiment. Do you need an alt to always bring things to you?
WOW! THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS! You've all been a WEALTH of knowledge! Keep it coming! *SARCASM*
If you don't like what i'm going to do with the character then don't post anything. Thats what a MMORPG is about. Do anything you want. If I feel like greifing then I will. W/E not looking at this thread again because I know you guys will just turn it into a dumb flame.
Yeah, you should get into your high 40's at least. It used to be that a lot of pk'ers were Silver Rangers as they were very fast and hard to catch up to.
To be honest, if he is a perma red I would be a bit loathe to wear anything too pricey. If you are killed you will have a good chance to drop.
There is a town that is south of Dion (**** my memory.. Florin?) that is pk'er friendly. I believe there is a warehouse keeper there.
Storywise they don't take kindly to the current rulers and do their own thing. I can't really answer your other questions, sorry.
First off you are basically saying you are going to be a form of low life pking scum so hence some of the responses you got. That shouldn't be a shocker.
Anyway if you want to "gank" D and C graders I would get to 52 but not bother with B grade. You can go ahead and tangle with B graders or A graders at this level but you'll likely get smoked. A perma red char capable of ganking an A grade better be 65+ or so.
Seeing that you cannot choose which augment you get, there's no point in asking that. If you mean SA I'd say cheap shot on an emi bow (c grade) or guidance on a BoP for attempting to hit higher level players. As for armor some famous PKer SR's have worn mithril robe set as it's D grade and cheap, gives extra mp and added run speed. Plated leather would be good too but more expensive to drop and harder to replace.
+4 STR +4 DEX for higher damage and more run speed. IMO.
As for that other stuff, Floran has no guards so you can talk to anyone in there, Gludin it's easy to come through the south exit and bypass the guards, and other towns since you're such a fast class you could probably outrun the guard and then log out, then log back in for trainers/priests.
Gear WILL be dropped upon death don't carry anything you don't want to lose
Augment weapon before you go "red"
You can sign up for dawn in Dion just outside the church and just outside the guards aggro zone
This is NOT PvP but it IS part of the game, everyone else will have to deal with it
Florian town is red safe but red hunters know this and you will be exposed everytime you leave
Expect to be hunted and expect no mercy
Personally I hope you are on Kain then I will hunt you :)
Bring BSOE's if you really want not to die but remember we will find you. And it's kinda expensive... LOL
Tats don't really matter but they are the same as if you were a non-red player
And other then that have fun!!
Anyone who gets bent because of this advice...think about it this way...wouldn't it be nice if all we had to deal with in this game were red players/gankers? At least it's part of the game and doesn't depend on using a 3rd party program.
Oh, and hope you don't run across someone with Arrest, Entangle or Root... most of these classes will be shield-wearers who will stand a real good chance of getting some of your gear.
You'll want jewels to defend against casters, but, then, those are exactly the sorts of things you'll be losing most often. You have a bankroll, I assume?
Also, since there's not a lot of new players in the game, do expect most of those D and C graders to be the alts of A and S graders, generally with clan support. If you're going to use an auto-log application, hope your hunters aren't Frapsing.
As far as trainers go... not sure if its anything like the shopkeepers, but usually, as a Red, NPCs have a different set of dialogue. Put simply, they refuse to help you.
So, what server is this "ultimate gank archer" gonna be on, and what's his name? I have a thing or two to show you...
And while you're giving us the name of your archer, why not provide the name/server of your Gladi as well. It wouldn't be fair for your archer to get all of the attention. :D
Lol, remember when some perma reds killed an academy member in Breka Stronghold. They were 2 SRs in B Grade levels. We had the entire Giran Area giving us direction (where they saw them, etc.) and after about 30 minutes we finally caught them deep in Dragon Valley.
Heh I did that too, had an academy char in Cruma with my SE, a red necro blew them both away, logged in my main on my subclass and blew him away, got a few drops out of it.
+5 Dex, use some D-grade jewels and stuff. Get prophet buffs, zerk for run speed, almost nothing bar an SWS/TH/Tyrant can catch you. Log out if anyone high level comes along, or a dagger for that matter :P
ganking Bgraders will be hard already, even if you are at the same lvl or even higher. most pleople have buffbots and better equipment then you have, unless you will use top equipment with a perma red :/ gank an Agrade? wont happen. unless they are unbuffed and afk, or just stupid.
you will have to kill D and Cgraders, but even then, expect some resistance. i have killed so many Cgrade++ archers in EG with my lvl30-40 toons. (outside buffer roots and heals)
well I dont mind more perma reds on the servers, I love to kill them
WOW! THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS! You've all been a WEALTH of knowledge! Keep it coming! *SARCASM*

Have fun being forum [Censored]!
Which server will you be on? Since you seem to think it fun to "gank" people a lot lower than you are, and since you seem to think that it being a game makes it morally OK, then I sincerely hope that i get to meet you so you can see what the other side of the coin is like.
This would go for all your toons, not just the ganker.
1. What Grade/LvL should I stop at? Once I start PvPing; this guy is going to be a perma red so I really don't want to lvl with him after I start PvPing.
My advice is to get a low level 40 something lifestone and augment a emi bow and use devotion sets since you will pop all the time. stock up ur warehouse with your pots and stuff but gludin is a very pker friendly city because you can come in from the mountains and drop right down on the gk then u just have to dodge the guards but if you have augmented weapon then who cares. have fun
lol @ the newb suggesting to get to 40 for a lifestone.
But yeah, if you intend to go perma-red who focuses on lowbies, expect at least 70% of them lowbies to have at least one 75+ main that can one-shot you.
for all them who want to kill stupid pkers use an unknown alt which is top b or low a grade put it into noob gear and go hunt a few mobs without ss then when pker turns up and trust me they will you do the old trick most griefers like to do to lowbie noobs switch to your top end gear and pawn the pker its a reverse on the griefing method griefers use and will get you nice drops hopefully :) just got to be patient
Rampantliones
A GOOD WARSMITH IS AN HONOURABLE ONE :)
P.S
IF YOUR THINKING OF COMING FOR ME THEN THINK AGAIN NONE OF MY TOONS ARE UNDER 50+ :p HAPPY HUNTING :)
You would reverse grief me?????????????????????????????
rofl so you would kill me with your smarterthantheaveragebear ruse hehehe like a mob ** like you or the other one would take time out of your precious grind to even do that and even if 70% of peeple pkers kill have level 75 toons, chances are they are not logged where I would be and if they are I would be gone. U idjits think ppkers stay around long enough to have a cup of tea with you? any way, if i get killed i dont care i just go back to floran get my non grade gear and off i go again.
chasing me is fun i havent been chased in a while :~~~~(
If you gank only to log off when the ground becomes to hot beneath you feet you are a borderline harasser in my eyes.
That and having a yellow streak running down your back.
It's funny to see the lives of gankers become less and less livable as some of the new patchnotes of the CT1 update seem to discourage ganking in general.
I suggest you grow yourself a backbone as a ganker and stick it out no matter what (without logging) or do you grieving now before CT1 arrives.
Haha, what a funny guy! Sure you're not a troll? Asking soon to be victims for gank advice. Just hilarious. While we're at it I need some help too. Tell me your name and server plz. I'd like to gank you :D
Personally reds don't bother me, if that's how you want to play your character , that is your decision. The game is after all partly PVP orientated which affords ganking as part of that same game.
The only thing I would say and which has previously been mentioned. Make sure you know who you are ganking before you do. Many people have alts, those same people have clans in many cases big clans. You are very likely to pay a heavy price if you choose to gank the wrong person.
The drop thing: A way to beat it -
Buy heck loads of those harvesters (u know manor ones) and fill up ur inventory, this way the chances of dropping something good are decreased. they are light and cheap wasy to replace and who cares if u drop a harvester lol.
Wow, Just out of curiosity I came back to see how much my thread got flamed. 4 pages just for little old me? I feel special! Keep them coming i'm getting alot of cheap laughs out of this! :)
Thank you to the people who actualy responded with helpful information. Keep it coming so we can make the carebears flame this thread even more!
My character is well on his way to B grade, 45+ ATM and I'm thinking about going to A grade(still undecided).
As for the people who would like my character name and server, you have really made me laugh the most. You want my character name so you can come gank me... hmmm... but isn't that what you guys are advocating is unfair and cowardly? Isn't that what you guys don't ever do and say is not real PvP? Whats the definition of "Hypocrite" and "Irony"? I'm sure you carebears would know it. As Dave Chappell would say "Gotcha ******!" :D
They don't mix well.
Ganking implies player killing where you are the one that wins per default (btw that's my version of what ganking means).
When I think about PvP between player(s) I am more thinking along the line of having a chance to win for those participating.
Maybe the others are willing to gank you to beat that idea of making a toon with the soul purpose to deprive the pleasure from low level players, that (still) like to get ahead / learning / exploring the game, out of your head.
The early days of my Lineage2 were fun as I was still enjoying the look of the lands the thrill of beating a mob all by myself, basically learning to PvE etc. After a while the grind sets in so depriving those small early pleasures can make a low level player rethink about L2 in general.
There are those that will argue that this is part of Lineage2 but tell that to your friends (who have a casual playstyle) you had finally gotten interested into playing this game. You can't always be there when they try to get to some point where grouping with you becomes more then just a leech-party from their side.
yeah when you think of it properly the true carebears are the pkers as they only want to fight lowbies and claim everyone else is carebear when they want to bring mains to come get them lol
other funny thing is how pkers are always like (go /cry or how they call the higher lvls hyppocrites when they themselves are the ones who /cry when you get them in one shot :P )
and if the pkers are such fantastic pvpers *s******** how come they always run when they themselves are being hunted ?? so come on you pkers if your so hot at pvp tell us who your mains are ? no didnt think so then they get taste of what it is like to get pawned so go /cry some more about others being hyppocrites lol

A GOOD WARSMITH IS AN HONOURABLE ONE :)
Rule number one : Choose fights where you are the clear favourite.
If you want to roleplay an evil character, the best choice is to go after people who dont stand a chance against you. Dominate the weak and stay away from the strong.
Altough in LA2 there is no point to do this, because you gain nothing. The victim cant really drop anything, you cant mutilate the body in order to take a trophy and so on....
If you want to roleplay an evil character, the best choice is to go after people who dont stand a chance against you. Dominate the weak and stay away from the strong.
Wholly incorrect. There is a world of difference between being Evil and being craven.
You could do like one perma red did on my server...went noble, 76+ :) He has lots of friends, always travels in a group (when in high lvl areas) and he can PK just about anyone he ****well pleases. Ladiesman is the server favorite noble perma red (unless he's decided to de-red...which I HIGHLY doubt). Then we have VVINX and who can forget, Scabies lol, or SayWhen. People would kill to know some of their mains.
You can sign up at priest like everyone else to enter that cats.
But yes, carry lots of light junk, fill up your wh b4 you go red, and always choose battles you can win. I don't recomment trying to gank B or A graders, you would have to be seen in higher lvl areas where people can sneak up on you...and will have a chance to kill you. Top gear is a no no unless you are rich and can lose it, same goes for jewels. There are also other reds that will hunt you who have been doing it for longer ;) I usually see a red in time to see him running away after clearing the area of noobs. I swear, BRAWD (another red I previously forgot to mention) always snuck up...never saw him til he was right behind me.

hehe well personally I don't think you'll last to long in the gank world if you can't take a good ribbing on the forums. :)
PvP = Player Versus Player, whether it's a 50 vs 50 or a 80 vs 1. All power to ya man, at least your open with your feelings...
The red life has become so hard, it's like it's a crime to kill another person for no reason now >.< i love going red sometimes. it gives me a rush :p
However, it's important to know the limits. I don't know them, but still...
...I'm in the mood for a little PvP. So I decided to create an archer...

So?
What's the status on this "Ultimate Gank Archer" six weeks later?
What server?
Do you like being red?
Get used to the fact that even if you do kill B and A grade characters, no one will believe you. They will call you a pansy loser no matter what you do...

Trust me.
Have u ever killed a A Grader who wasnt afk i seriously doubt it. Why u run round dion killing toons 20+ lvls lower than you, tho i do chuckle when u log/BSOE when u see some1 remotely close to ure lvl :)

Yes... I have fought and killed A graders who were not AFK. Like I said, no matter what I tell you, you won't believe me anyways.
I kill toons around Dion because it is close to where I pick up supplies, and because I kill everyone I can... there is no level limit on death.
I BSoE if I know I can't win a fight against someone because I am SMART ... I'd rather have you laugh at me than die and possibly drop. I like my equipment, and you can't have it. ;)
Because of those last words you wrote I will tell you something you could do.
Step 1:
Find a dirty mirror.
Step 2:
Clean the left side of that mirror.
Step 3:
Write "o s e r" in the uncleaned right side of the mirror.
Step 4:
Make a fist with your left hand and hold it to your forhead.
Step 5:
Face the mirror making sure you can see yourself and the fist on your forhead.
Step 6:
Point your left index finger upwards and your left thumb in a 90 degree angle facing to the right.
Now take a GOOD look at the mirror.
If you are a "perma-red" you know you might die one time or another and you make sure you do not mind loosing gear you wear on that perma-red.
Bsoe'ing is not a smart action but a chicken-droppings action on your part.
It is funny to read that someone thinks pk'ing (or being a perma red) is considered as pvp'ing. Just look at your pvp points, you don't get any pvp points when you are red; you are simply increasing you pk points. As a result, it is not considered as a pvp.
If you really want pvp, join a pvp clan with 1 and 2 way wars and you can pvp and 'gank' lower lvls wartags. Even if you go red on 1 way wartags, in that case 'the idea' is still considered a pvp; since the other clan(s) knows that they are under attack by the clan you're in.
So it really just depends on your ethic and moral view and the idea of what is considered as a pvp. If you want to be the "Ultimate Gank Archer" so loud and proud to be talking about it in here. Why don't you simply let everyone know what is the toons name and which server you're on? Kinda ironic isn't it? Proud to be a griefer/picking (bullying) on weaks but scared to let people (whom are higher lvls) to know who you are? lol
Oh btw, you can recieve blessing of protection till lvl40 (or before 2nd change class quest) from Newbie Guide. Good luck pk'ing or you say "pvp'ing" d grade toons ;).

Such detailed instructions...
Sounds like you have quite a bit of personal experience doing this in the mirror! :D
BSoE's are part of the game... if you are too ignorant to use them or feel that battles must be "fought to the death", that's your perogative.
Me?!? Just because I am a perma-red and am fully aware that I CAN drop upon death and possibly lose gear doesn't mean that I HAVE to let people kill me and take that chance!
I don't have any problem using a BSoE for what it was intended for... to instantly remove my character from harm's way, therefore preventing death, loss of XP%, and possible loss of valuable equipment.
As I stated before, using a BSoE is the smart thing to do.
Any intelligent player knows that.
here is a trick, if you find yourself near a noobie town and a centurian or guard spawns nearby, stop moving. they wont aggro you for a second or so. in that time, double click on them to talk to them. once the conversation is started you can log out safely. enjoy ^^
I don't really have a problem with BSoE'ers. It's part of the game.
I can say that I've never ever used one though :D I've always taken my dirt naps. Can't say I'm as high level as most of you though :). Or have item to loose like a red.
When PP gets to 56 I'll probably use R2 if things get to warm though. Part of the skillset.

Exactly what do you mean?!?
If I get killed, I get killed... it's happened before, and it will happen again.
However, you can't get killed "mid-BSoE", as it is instantaneous. You can either get killed before you activate the BSoE... or not.
EDIT: Oh wait, i think I know what you mean. It is possible to activate a BSoE the same exact instant you are hit and killed... it has happened to me twice before. GM's responded to a "bug report" stating that when the damage and BSoE occur at exactly the same time, the death will prevail. If I remember correctly, they have it timed to the tenth of a second... maybe even hundreth. Good question, though.
I've seen it done before, in fact I have it on video. You can see the BSOE graphics go but the player just keels over on the ground instead. I think it may even show in text that it was interupted.
No practice here, it came to me naturally.
My guildlines and your imagination.
Nothing else was needed to share my opinion regarding your actions with you.

Hell I've had my own BSOE's interupted, it sucks.
Actually that just means you DIED right before the BSOE animation fired off
So that means the BSOE was used and I died before it "worked".
Yeah, you just had some really bad luck and died a split second too early. So the Bsoe still goes off while you are already a corpse, and you can't SoE while you are dead. Also factor in the Ingame lag and Animation lag and it makes sence.
if you pvp a lot you will see it happening quite often actually. I've even cancelled people's bsoes twice in a row and they died during the 2nd one. if you pay attention you can see a blue bar above your head when you use bsoe. (casting time bar)
Nice screenie! You can see it in this siege video (http://www2.elliebelly.net/index.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails& lid=19) too because we were just making BSOE gank runs, you can see it happen to Ferst (the mystic muse hero in arcana) at 1:44. The BSOE animation starts when he stil has health, then he's dead and still on siege grounds.
I've actually seen that before...one day I had just finished my soe to end up in the town of aden...suddenly this purple orc appears and keels over lol, it was really quite funny.
