Dread Pirate Zaken has placed a wicked curse upon those who have pilfered his treasure. Zaken's granddaughter, Bonny, is trying to set things right. She needs your aid to free the cursed souls from their wretched fate, lest they be stuck as swine for all eternity!

I fear what kind of retaliation this will mean for my grandfather. His temper gets the best of him, and he's a bear to deal with sometimes, but he's still family. Besides, I think the thieves have learned their lesson. Don't you? I'll tell you what, if you help me undo this mess, I'll make it worth your while. I'll even put in a good word for you with grandpa! You'll find three different types of cursed pigs: Huge Cursed Pigs, Super Huge Cursed Pigs, and the rare Golden Cursed Pigs. Purchase a Redemption Bow from Bonny and use the bow's "Forgiveness" and "Pardon" skills on the cursed pigs to free them from Zaken's Curse. When you cure a curse pig, you'll get either Apiga or Pirate's Booty. Pirate's Booty are tiny treasure chests which may contain a valuable Golden Apiga. Bonny will also award you other prizes each time you turn in 50 regular Apiga. Collect as many Apiga and Golden Apiga as you can!

When you bring Bonny 50 regular Apiga, she'll reward you with class-appropriate buffs, and some random prizes. If you're lucky, she may even reward you one of the following special prizes:
* Golden Circlet of Redemption
* Pig Wrangler's Cap
* Silver Circlet of Salvation
On each server, the players who collect the most of Zaken's most prized coins--the Golden Apiga--will also be awarded the rare First Mate's Hat!
Throughout the event, you may also find a souvenir Salvation Bow. This bow looks just like the Redemption Bow used in the event, but it has a special skill associated with it called "Happiness." You can use Happiness on your friends as much as you like! Be warned that both of these bows are not meant for regular combat, and the Salvation Bow cannot be used to cure the cursed pigs.
The Zaken's Curse event will begin on August 7th, at 10:00 PM Central Time on the North American servers, and 10:00 PM GMT+1 on the European servers. The event ends on August 21st at 10:00 AM Central Time on the North American servers, and 10:00 AM GMT+1 on the European servers. Bonny will stick around on the servers for one week after the event ends, until the regularly scheduled server maintenance on August 28th. Happy cursed-pig hunting, and good luck!

I hope they spawn like crazy as they apear in the pictures, They give xp due to their level, They drop 50% of the time, You don't have to have a weeks worth of 24/7 hunting just to get something from NPC,

if the pigs spawn in an enclosed area, only specific clans will ever see the pigs. namely those that claim to be the ubers, the top, the high level guys that seem to be the irritation of any particular server.
my post was a reflection of the typical high level attitude that would go along with this kind of event should the event mobs spawn in an enclosed area.

If they were to come up with an event that suited everyone, it would HAVE to be something like go kill elpys that is scattered all over teon and every elpy drops like 100mil, some sort of weapon/armour event-item that can be exchanged for whatever weapz/armour(D/C/B/A/S) you like and 654697659164819647896186491 SP, while the elpys just had like 1HP......wouldnt that be a great idea? x.x
Is it too late to suggest the possibility of augments and OEing for the event weapons? I'll take a +10 Redemption Bow with the flame effect and a "Spawns More Golden Pigs" passive augment, please. :)

Well NCsoft said this event lasts 2 weeks, but they didn't say when the pigs will spawn :P maybe in the last 12 hours of the event there will finally be pigs :)

I think the 24 hours limit is per person , ie : you can only buy them once per 24 hours, thus everyone is limited to 3 hrs pig hunt per day....which could be a good thing...dunno thou

I usually do not whine about events - but if this is all true - then I will have to cast my vote for "Worst Event Ever" and "Biggest Let Down Event"... /wrists

Well, restricting the grind time to 3h per 24h means that people who work can have almost as much chance at winning this as people who are HC grinders and dont have a life. They are making things equal to all in a certain way.

Read my post lol, it's per account not npc. I tried on one account at 2 diff NPC's, same toon, got successfully on first NPC. I then re-logged and tried another toon, first and second NPC wouldn't work. Then I got succesfully first time from my other account from the first NPC.
Uhm, you can kill piggies for 3h every 24h... So if you were planning to hunt them tonight, you can still do that for 3h.
You can only use the bow for 1 hour per 24 hour period - so I guess you just need to be careful when you get your bow and hope that the pigs come out when you are on the same toon that got the bow.

Hmm, we may have a storm brewing already. Can I bring to your attention masses of naked LightElf with scrambled names gathering on each server with event bows.
Light elf is the fastest class and may impose a way to farm these pigs in towns.

Yeah,that is a thing i'm affraid of.That there will be huge trains of bots on every pigspawn and no piggies for legit players :( That would suck if bots will get all the good prises and accesories.

Is it possible to make this announcement in-game or at the log in screen? Quite a few people are asking if the event started yet, and equipping the event bows, which are on a timer.
They should bestow another attribute to the event weapons. We should be able to kill anyone with an event weapon, either equipped, or in their inventory, without penalty. That way we could just PK all of the farming bots without incurring karma. (But I guess that would turn this into a PVP event, which clearly, the devs don't want. :()
you do realize those are all trial accounts right?
banning trial accounts only solves the symptoms. the real farmer accounts are still in the catas having the time of their life cause everyone's outside looking for pigs.
and lets face it, 1 pirate hat worth 2b will pay some farmer's new car.
how about farming coins to sell to players for thousands? 10k a coin might net the farmer 100k from you, and you, and you, and you, adding up to a fortune.
every event feeds the bots. it takes the whole server to know when to stop playing the events and save your money.
There are going to be a lot of pigs across the world. I don't think anyone will have any problems finding the pigs. And, we are banning bots as we speak in order to ensure you receive the most enjoyment possible.
To help you enjoy the event more, here are some of my tips:
Tip 1: Go hunt with the event buffs for an hour before you use the next bow. You will be surprised at how much Exp. you'll have gotten by the end of the event. This is from my experience.
Tip 2: The timer on your Redemption Bow only ticks when it is equipped. So make sure to unequip it when you are not actively hunting. But also note that equipping/unequipping the bow uses 1 minute.
Tip 3: Close your eyes when you turn in the coins. There is a rumor that you will have a higher chance at getting the bigger rewards. :P
Tip 4: I think I saw some pigs near castles too. Shhhh.

I got one question on another post Alyra said that the rewards are non tradable same for the coins you get for the pigs, are all the rewards non tradable including the scrolls you may get
If thats the case kudos to NC because this will really be an event for the players and not the farmers

NCSoft has implemented new face-recognition algorithms in their software. By sending small signals through the pixels on the screen, the software can instantly recreate your face internally and can programmatically determine your mood and level of awareness. Drops, OE'ing and crafting success, and crit amount is based on these results. All the cool programs are doing this now.

There are hundreds and hundreds of pigs around and they respawn just as fast as they are killed. I just spent 1,5 hours killing them and got 165 apiga, some farmer ksed my golden pig naturally.. Oh the Super Huge ones drop 4-5 apiga each when the normal ones drop 1-2. Kinda nice that everyone has same 3 hours/day chance to kill them, gz for that NCSoft ^^

me on the other hand barely enough time to sleep let alone i somehow manage to pull a good 2 hours out of thin air late at night to play this game, or actually more then i care to admit, help others with lineage2 and computer related issues.....

Although you really notice how greedy people can be... Got KS'd on both my giant pig and my golden pig. You can't have anything to yourself :p I got the loot on the golden pig (pirate's booty) but it was empty :(
Also, it seems that the event rewards and the regular apigas (not golden) are tradable. Mistake?
1 1/2 hours and NO pigs. 6 clannies spread over the whole map so I am pretty sure they aren't out there! If the pigs are not spawning as promised after the maintenance slot then I've just wasted a load of time :(

I got 200+ apigas. I saw friends turn them into EAA and EWA, EWB and EAB, but I started with 2 EAD and 2EWD. When I thought I was at the bottom of the rewards, I got a BSOE ><'
Eventually, I got a High-Grade Life stone 52 with the last ones for tonight.
Even with those crappy rewards (really unlucky seeing what friends got), that was **** fun and I can't wait for tomorrow to do it again!

Well maybe it's because of the timezones. It's a quarter past three in the morning here. So remove a bit more than 3 hours and you'll know when it started on Teon.

Advice : Don't waste your bow time by struggling with other players, you get only 3 hours of slaughtering every day. Get your bows the faster you can, then find a quieter town with pigs and enjoy. :)
Yeh, from what I hear the european servers have it, but it doesn't take effect till 11pm EST for the american servers.

I killed piggies for 1 hour on my level 8 char on Franz
I got 100 Apigas and got 1 BSOE and 1 BREZ from them, so that's nice!
I killed a golden pig too but the box was empty :(
1 question though, the BSOE and BREZ all say L2Day scroll - For Event, does the For Event means it comes from the event or last the duration of the event?
Cause if it just last for the duration of the event that would suck.
They spawn around Bonny outside of town. When you get close to them, it sounds like little kids laughing and another wierd type of music sound that repeats over and over again.
8:37 PST and still no pigs. I checked Aden, Heine, Gludio, HV, Oren, Rune, Goddard, Schuttgart, and at least one noob village. Nothing, nada, zilch. Maybe they meant 9pm PST?

Apropos. Killing the pigs is like seeing the dentist...before novacaine was invented. It is a long, painful process just to kill one. Don't bother with buffs, or soulshots, or anything like that. Just grab wooden arrows and go to it.
It took some time, but I finally got 50 apiga. Some of the pigs gave one apiga, others gave 2, and others still merged into a Super Huge pig that gave me 5 apiga. I didn't see any golden pigs...probably got there too late.
The buffs for fighters are level 1 and only 5 - 6 buffs. Might was not one of the buffs, but VR, Haste, Shield, WW, and I can't remember the last one (BTB?). They are hour long buffs...which would be great, except my PP already gives all of the buffs that I need. Oh yeah, you have to take the buffs before you get your prize.
I turned in the apiga, requested the fighter buffs and received an EWC and an EAC as a reward.
If you don't want to turn in the apiga, feel free to drop them. You can, if you want. But don't try to sell back the Redemption Bow. All you get is an error message that reads, "No HTML."
That I tried to sell back my event bows should be an indication of how I feel about this event. I'm logging off now, because I'm ...........................THISCLOSE!!!........... .......to sacrificing my +11 Soulbow. By the way, if Heartfang is still around, I hope you don't mind that I've borrowed your namesake for my bow. If it makes it to +16 I'll post screenies. We'll see how I feel about the game come morning time. :mad:
Lol. The only thing this event has provided is additional lag in the cities. Rune Township lagged to hell... That's a new one.
People are now complaining that they are lagging out while leveling because of the event, and don't even bother trying to chat in clan or alliance chat because the pigs spam so much text that you cannot see what anyone writes before it scrolls off the screen.
I got scroll of agility and some other scroll from my first 50 Apiga. At least they renamed them from L2Day to "Event Scroll". Lol. This is what I sacrificed the 5% XP I could have gotten in town for?
People KS you on pigs, and if it dies far away they run to the Apiga and spam pickup. Unless you're a fast class/race they'll get it before you get to it.
Event is boring and too much of a hassle to be fun IMO. Just a farm fest to make buffers less useful and muck up the in game economy.

My biggest pet pieves are 3 in number:
1) The buff scrolls you get are "for event" buff scrolls meaning they do not stack with the already existing "L2 day" buff scrolls. I would not think this much of a problem, if we had more than 100 warehouse spaces and could carry more then 63 items in our inventory and still work on quests.
2) I hate luck based events, enchants (skill and weapon/armor), cratfs, basically anything that is luck based I hate. I would rather be able to work towards an absolute and definite goal rather than having to risk always failing. This event is no exception. It is more likely you will the pigs to spawn a golden one, only to have some ******* run through and kill the golden one the moment it spawnsleaving you high and dry. Idon't want buff scrolls, I don't want enchant scrolls (unless they are S) all I wanted from this event are the head items.
3) There is a tremendous amount of lag on the field areas, making hunting impossible due to instability. After barely escpaing death to an atrox by means of a bsoe, I had to admit the client was too unstable to continue grinding for the night.
I like the concept, that being a special weapon like this bow. I just find the process tedious without much excitement to counter it.
That said, even doing the event for 30 minutes a day, for the two weeks it will run, will yield some really nice rewards. So while I feel the process could of been made more exciting, no one is forcing us to do this three hours a day either.
I was searching for hours last night for event pigys and found nothing, finally when I woke up this morning I found the Towns swarming in pigs and no-one hitting them, I instantly got my bow and started "saving" them. The graphics from the bow are awesome :p :p and the quotes from the pigs are funny :) Haven't tested the rewards yet since I want to be online in case i get buffs (i had to get to work) but I got a total of 251 apiga in 2 hours and 2 pirate booty from the 2 golden pigs I managed to hunt down first from the total of 10 approx the appeared...
In total, seems like a US timed event again, but I like it, at least now we got to hunt the event mobs :)
Quite the loot for just a few hours work! No hat or salvation bow yet :(. I could log onto my fiancees account and kill some piggies but I'll leave that for her tommorow :).
