After returning to L2 from a two year break, I've become seriously addicted, in a good sense. I don't play the game when I have work or other rl things going on, so it doesn't interfere with my life. However when I do play at night, in particular, after the kids are sleeping, I seem to play "very" late. ;)
At any rate, last night I was playing three characters at one time, and having a blast. It's around 3am, and to give context, this past week was very intense and consuming work-wise.
Next thing I know, my wife is waking me up, and it's 5am. I fell asleep, on my chair, playing. Here's the funny part. My three characters are all dead. Now they didn't have to say it, but I know they must of been thinking.
"hey you out there, what are you doing? You remember how long it takes to level in this game, and we just leveled. Now we are going to delevel. You dumb NA Player"
Guess I'll log in and take it like a man :)
This ever happen to any of you? Would make me feel a bit better to know I'm not alone. heh...
definatly been there before....fell asleep in my chair while i was in a partywith my friends in a cata...they were kind enough to assume that i was afk for like a half hour..then i woke up cause my gf went to use the bathroom and i was like "holy hell!" i had went up like %10 and just slept through it...i did die...but includeing the %lost when every one soe'd but me i was %10...only gained %6ish..but heck..i got some sleep and some xp so it worked out lol....friends FTW
We had one member going brb while regenning and came back 4h later asking why in the world she had letters on her forehead. There she was standing on one of the bridges in GC.
Personally I have never went over my limit of being fatigued. I just log out and let it rest. This game is just a bit too harsh in return after doing something stupid, same goes up for all those "ok I was drunk so I blew up a SoM going for +7".
It never happened to me that I fell asleep, usually when I feel like I cannot keep my eyes opened anymore I say goodbye and take straight route to bed.
But it happened to clannie once, it was pretty funy because we were all in catacomb, she had some good sleep for like 1.5 hour and at the end we were trying to figure out what to do - leave her there and risk she dies (and loose some stuff, it was pre-mid-C5) or keep going despite the fact we all wanted to go to bed too. Shouting on Vent did not help much either. We were even thinking of letting her die and collect her drops. But she woke up finally :)
Never done it myself before but had partymembers dozing of multiple times in one buffrun before, lol, had to dial a phonenumber to wake them up at one point :P lol
I've done it a few times in town, and I've had clan members do it too. It's one reason I make friends with EEs. Someone in the party falls asleep? When the hunt is done (I don't mind them leeching), grab an EE to PR the group back.
One of my favorite times to play is after our kid goes to bed,I can get about 3 hours of play time.Once it hits close to midnight I always log off no matter what,if I don't dumb things like mentioned above will happen in the world of L2.My husband works night shifts so he plays after midnight and has party members fall asleep trying to keep up with him.Kinda funny when it happens for sure.
lol, I've gotten that call 2 or 3 times. Very funny.
I admit I fell asleep at the computer once. Had a cold and the meds got to me or something. Thankfully I was *not* on my EE and was an AoE party for Acadamy alts, so I wasn't missed. But I felt *so* bad afterwards. I actually didn't die though, which says a lot about how the party was going without me. Heh.
I never ever let myself get so tired, that I risk falling asleep on my keyboard. I don't want to risk doing something stupid/not doing something I need to do (such as healing..) because I am too tired to pay attention. When I'm soloing, it's different. When I'm only responsible for myself. But even then, my bed starts to look more attractive than the game, once my eyelids become heavy.
Playing a Bishop, and a PvP Bishop for that matter since the dawn of beta, I have stopped caring about dying.. I used to before, dying because I fell asleep.. didn't pay attension.. or simply died PvP'ing (group PvP/siege). I have died so many times, I had about 3-4mill+ SP to spare after skills at level 60 :p
Now when I die I just shrug at it.. I died, ok, too bad, go back to leveling, which is pretty different than the C1-C2 days where I was dead scared of dying because I might loose all my equipment or delevel. Now a days im known as the crazy norwegian suicidal cookie ninja bishop with amazing tank and targeting skills :p
I will tell you what has happened to me. In fact, not 2 minutes ago, since I just logged from the game. In the Forsaken Plains area there are three characters dead, probably from the tigers or the Orc Captains. I can't say what killed them, but they are dead. I hunted for 3 buff rounds in the area, and the toons were still there when I left.
Given that they've been there for at least an hour, should I conclude that the operator fell asleep at the keyboard, or do I report them as "sleepwalkers" and let the GM's sort it all out? What would you do?
I look forward to reading your responses at dawn. It's 1am and my girl is calling me to bed. G'night, all.
While I was doing my sub quest I was outside of Oren at this stupid dwarf you speak for the quest. I was 76 and I think it was right after I did Baium. So, I let my char next to the dwarf with our dialog opened and went to check stratics for quest info.
When I returned in game I had like 100HP and a bunch of stupid darkblue-to-me mobs attacking me. I died lol but at least a friend Cardinal rezed me.
Oh yes that's happened to me before. I've been in groups and got to the point where I'm really tired and drifting off. I tend to get woken up with Vent and the words "Nal daaannnnnnccceeee" being screamed at me as I don't for the fifth time in the middle of aggro :D :o ;)
Yet another victim of P.O.O.K. Passed Out On Keyboard.
Symtoms include:
1. waking up to find your char dead.
2. having an inprint of the "J" and "F" key bumps on your forehead.
3. looking at the screen and not remembering what happened in the last 10 min.
4. party chat is filled with: "hello <insert your name> are you there?" and "what happened to <insert your name>?"

Not to be confused with DOOK: Drunk on keyboard.
Symptoms include:
1. Getting lost in the cata while poling.
2. Typing jklse mk when you mean hello
3. Belching on vent and then crying cause it stinks
4. Forgetting which toon you are on the screen
Often DOOK leads to POOK. DOOK can be treated with DOOK's Anonymous, but POOK well......you are just pooked!
Or like clannie:
"WTH what happened yesterday??? Where is my Majestic jewel set and why I have inventory full of A rystals??? You mean I was like ... noooo that can't be! I was not THAT drunk Jesus Christ!"
