Well... we was told to /GM the BOTS so I did... many times yesterday :)
Now... up at Orc Village... these illegal types have caught on somewhat and now have incredibly long names... nevertheless I tried /GM and what happens... white chat 811 Orc Village... What is that about???
I was prepared to go on a mammoth killing spree instead... but they in a "safe" zone... c'mon NCSoft... there's only so much I can do >.<
ty... i will
Interestingly... despite the fact there are like 70 players up here... not one of them will talk to me... ya think I got a body odour problem???
In my experience it's just some glitch that happens when you click either "report a bad user" or "illegal 3rd party program use", one of those. I think it's meant to give the location along with your petition, but you *should* still get a petition window to submit in. o.o
I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that this event is not for me... hell I thought it was gonna be great fun but the bots ruined it and despite doing everything I could to /gm them or smack them stupid... nothing works... rapidly going emo now...
Actually i recently got this error..... you push submit or use a button and it'll litterly spit out in normal chat (as if you had entered it yourself) that message.
I'm going to try and narrow down all the instances of that happening.
For PvRJudas - gl trying with the instances... add this one plix... ima standing in Rune trying to /GM and ima getting 811, Orc Village... makes NO freaking sense to me... /GM was working just fine yesterday >.<
I've had this happen a few times myself - for a while now. I select immobility from the drop down list then select the Report a bad user from the drop down list and take it from there - seems to get around the problem.
I've just given up petitioning period. I petitioned obvious bots, names like kdjfhs, akjhi, sdiofhr, asjdhiu, and guess who I saw the following week? Oh, you guessed it. All the same obvious bots occupying a room I could have lvled in. Save yourself the time, don't bother petitioning...bots are paid accts, therefore NC does nothing, there are more of them than there are of us legit players. No bots, significant losses in revenue for NC. When they forced everyone to authenticate their accounts, I bet that quarter reported record losses in revenue. However I did notice something in game when they did that. For about a week, I could lvl peacefully. Prices dropped dramatically on gear...of course now the bots are just as rampant as they once were, prices are going up (what a suprise...cheaper adena online thanks to more bots).
Yeah that's true petitioning seems to didly squat. But at least it makes me feel like I'm doing something....
NC has kinda made a tactical error with this pig event too. As they have now shown us that they CAN do something pretty quick about the bots (at least in the more frequented areas) but for some reason choose not too on a general basis. And the main reason would seem to be financial. But as there is little communication and no apparent effects we are left to speculate on NC's motives in allowing the undesirables to continue to plague the servers.

I still don't buy into the conspiracy theories but this even has illustrated the #1 reason why I don't petition anymore: ineptitude. If NCSoft needs me and other players to tell them who the bots are and where they can be found...when this event is concentrating TONS of bots in starter towns to the point where you can't fall over and not hit one then why should I bother?
I just want to TI to level on an alt and there they are. Of 20-something toons, 3 were legit players just checking things out or stumbling around killing piggies(not moving in 100% straight lines) and the rest were either mechanically going through the process or slapping pigs with their bare hands because whoever is running that group of bots hadn't noticed that the bow had run out of time.
Yep, that needs to be reported. It isn't painfully obvious as to what is taking place and I need to take time out of my day to report it just so that I can get even more frustrated when nothing happens.
I log on to play a game. If Blizzard asked folks to report bots in WoW the laughs would echo for days. Why?
A. In two years of playing WoW I saw three bots and all of them were in Azshara for only a little time before they disappeared.
B. The idea of doing Blizzard's job for them is...well, painful to even think about. What does it say about a company when they can't even control what happens in the virtual world that they created and maintain? It's the equivalent of God saying, "Well, yeah I mean I'm all powerful, I made the rules, I can go anywhere, I can see anything, and I can snuff the life out of someone with a thought...but if you could call me and tell me what's going on I'd appreciate it because I seem to be having a hard time find sand on this beach."
I created a toon on Bartz. How long did it take me to find bots? When I crossed the bridge from the spawn point I found them and started killing them.
It was hard.
There were EULA concerns.
It was a drawn our process.
I needed lots of training to do that.
For my next trick I plan on making a pot of coffee. It takes longer to do and there are more steps...
