At least with pigs out of towns, if unsavory types are disturbing the peace, we can attack them. I don't know about other servers, but on Sieghardt as an example, there are pigs inside of the town. Alphabet soup names are having a field day and I can't even attack them.
/whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Please tell us this is an oversight and will be corrected.
If you're high enough level, try going in a small group to Goddard. The pigs are mixed in with the 1/2 HP mobs just outside of town, and there's enough aggro that, at least on Sieghardt, teh bots aren't there. However, you will probably find it easier if one person takes care of the aggo mobs.
I just want to know why they didn't treat the apiga's as a quest item? Every event we have had they treat them as a normal tradable drop that can be sold. And all the bot sell shops just take advantage of that.

why would u give the event to people who actually matter?
Give the bots a reason to activate more accounts, and sell the special prize to the person who pays the most for the items at the end! DER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets try an exercise, shall we?
Instead of complaining about the event, detail the perfect event for L2.
Must eliminate bots, make every ego-centric, whiny POS happy as a pig in mud, must provide worthwhile rewards without upsetting the market balance, must appeal to players of all levels.
The only event we had that was unable to be farmed was the stupid event where you bought the coffers. We complain because they do not give us event then we complain about the bots in the event when we get them. But the one major thing everyone has to think about is how can a bot effectively bot a golden pig? Sure there are areas where a golden pig spawns in every 15 min but its not in the same exact spot all the time. So yea the bots will farm the reg pigs and sell the apiga but your not finding a 10k of the Golden ones. Chill out guys or dont do the event. The new community manager is doing good getting us event just enjoy them. :)
Perhaps I didn't communicate properly, as it was late.
I love the event. I am not complaining about the event, but about one aspect that I believe must of been an oversight.
I have not seen pigs within any town, except Talking Island. Perhaps there are others, but that is the only town I've seen them in.
With Pigs in the town, and plenty of them, it provides total safety to those hunting the pigs, because we are not allowed to attack in town.
If the event was designed to have pigs in Towns, I think I would have seen them in other towns; but Talking Island is the only town I've seen this in to date.
The players on my server, Sieghardt, have done an awesome job at virtually eliminating the alphabet soup zerg that was outside of town when this event began, by attacking them. I logged in my Talking Island character "HomelandSecuirty" last night, and was amazed at how successful the anti-alphabet soup campaign has been.
We do not have that option inside of the town. This is a PvP game, and to avoid whining to the GM's every other minute, it is nice to be able to take care of our own affairs, but the game code does not allow that in towns.
Hope that better communicates what I was trying to say in my OP.
I have also done some work against the bots in TI and ElV. Mobs spawn In Town at ElV as well as in Rune and TI. I haven't been to oren, goddard, DElV, OrcV, or DwV since the event started, but there are at least 3 towns with pig spawns inside.
Yes it allows soulless to farm, but again it also allows lowbies to enjoy the event without permareds ruining it for them. There is give and take here. Sorry of i came across harsh.

np man. Thanks.
Really though, how many newbies are there really, and I'd much rather be a newbie dealing with an occasional perma red, than a newbie dealing with the alphabet zerg :)
Well, there aren't enough newbies, that's for sure. Helping them to have a way to participate in events is one way to retain them. Also, there are high level toons that ruin events for people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and even 60s. By having some of the pigs spawn in town, the server bullies can't prevent mid-levels from participating too.
And hey, my wife Vampyress was posting screenshots of the soulles, and she and I have petitioned them and pk'd them during this event. We've certainly been doing our part and feel your frustration.
It isn't a perfect event, but it's about as close as I've seen.

Exactly. I have seen three red toons in starter towns, all of them were mine afte killing bots. "Alphabet Zerg"? Meh, I might have seen those a few places:
Well, Hunter's Village has pigs in town too... it's terrible to port there now, lots of bots too.
Oh well. The event is cute. It becomes tedious after a while and I prefer to go leveling, but it could have been better if it wasn't for all the bots around.
And I really got tired of killing them, and reporting them, and seeing them coming back the day after :(
Last night I tried reporting one, but I'm old, my vision isn't great, and I run the game at 1900 x 1200 which makes the letters small. It was pretty funny, but not at the time; took me six petitions (GM gave me credit each time to avoid reaching the 5 limit) until the GM said I got the name right and would look in to it. lol At the end I pulled out my reading glasses and used a magnifying glass to figure the name out. :o

Thank you -Bambam
As i have said countless time. And i know NC is tired of hearing this from me. Then need to patch the boat and stop baling it.
Using PAINT or lineage2's built in JPEG compression is kinda.... er..... not all that great..
but using a real program where you can pick you compression amount (Adobe Photoshop for example, 0-12) is alot nicer and better compression.
you'd hate it if i uploaded a 12.7mb bmp (that's my screensize 2560x1600 bmp size..) where as a jpeg is 1.3mb with nearly zero difference in overall quality.
A new name for this event: "Bacon For Bots". Sorry, I couldn't resist.
The event had some nice ideas to it, but in practice, the bots have pretty much taken over, at least on Sieghardt. It probably doesn't help that Dusk won Seven Signs, so many of these poor bots were standing around on street corners, begging for money .......
We have a pig spawn all to ourselves outside our clan hall, which I have never seen anybody else in. Why don't you try and find a decent spawn, instead of just the ones at town?
I just let the bots farm the apiga for me. I got something like 300 apiga yesterday without firing a single event bow. About 50 of those were from strategically pking the bots as the pig was dying. 250 of those were from placing adena in unreachable spots near the bots.
Go to talking island and look at the statue area in town. Bots get stuck all over the stairs and there is free apiga all over the place. :p

hehe... it only cost me about 500 or so adena to get 300 apiga.
On my pker, I racked up something like 170ish pks with over 1mil karma. Finally they got smart and made a low lvl archer that killed me. It took him 3 times to do it and I wasnt even buffed and he was spamming pots like there is no tomorrow.

How can a bot pick up an apiga if it's still within the 5 second drop rule? Because [923] it's happing
I don't understand why anybody would want to hunt them in town anyway. Find yourself a nice Siegable Clan Hall, and use their spawn. Chances are there will be at most 1 other person there, and no bots.
i just dont like that pigs can be healed by players in town.
I know they turn purple , but in town who cares. Also the golden or super one can be taken if a group comes in and heals it to stop you from getting the quest item(mp run out, lol). Other than that its the best.

I've seen that too, though if you try to pick up theirs, which I've tried, you have to wait 5 seconds.
heh actually bot's couldn't KS me, and it's not 5 seconds if you both did almost 50% damage, besides i'm as a player more effective in shooting so i make 60% Damage, wich leads me to easy fast apigas if i am faster at picking (get close early).
the sad part about it, is the madder that bots sell pirate booty's at around 300 pieces each shop...i alone counted like 800 booty's in shops from chars like "dasjfhlkj". Wich leads me to the idea do i need 500 golden to win, or 600 ? :)
I do abuse them >)

Your assuming that tthey are also shooting at it !!!! They are not! I am the only one shooting at the pigs. And when the Apiga's drop the countless thems are standing around just waiting for the 5 second rule to expire.
Funny thing is they can pick them up right away!!!!!
Yes, the "pick-up rule" isn't enforced server side, just client side. Another possibility to automatically and flawlessly find and ban bots NCSoft isn't using.
So, who do you think will win the Golden Pig reward on each server? 5k adena says its some (Censored) botter. They can just go and collect all of there bootys and open on 1 toon. They should have never let you sell booty, cause it should be who hunted the most and won, not who can buy the most. Maybe, just maybe... if people stop funding the bots... they will go away. :P I probly have a better chance of getting hit by lighting, then on the way to the hospital, getting hit by a crashing plane, which was stuck by a meteor, then to have all the people who fund the bots, stop and just play legit.
You would think that with al the money NCsoft makes, they could afford to hire a few more GM's, for bot portal. But now that would just be to easy.
I agree completely. I wish pirate's booty was non-tradable (maybe make it freightable, wouldn't hurt), because I know there's no chance in hell anyone can compete with those who don't mind paying for them. So as hypocritical as it is, I'm selling mine :p Might as well profit from this, when you know competing for the hat is futile.

Absolutely true. The pigs are in a safe zone in Orc village too--and you can't pick up their agipa but they can sure grab yours. Even if you get 3 or 4 of the last hits and get the last hit--you can't pick up the agipa and the autotoon can (:
Something is seriously botched with that...
