Just wondered if anyone else noticed pointless things that mobs do.
One I see is the Trives out at Shilen Seal. They will sleep me (or try anyway fails 99% of the time) and immediately hit me which wakes me up. I'm sure it might be different for lower levels but it makes me laugh everytime :D
I also think that any of the lower level golems running after you is pointless. I could have run alfway across the map before they have even reached the place I initially attacked them from :D
Perhaps not pointless but something that gave us a real laugh was on toi4 when I was duoing with my usual partner.
In the course of normal crowd control I rooted one of those floaty ladies. In response she turned around, gave me a filthy look, rooted me back then carried on smacking the bd I was with til he stepped away.
Felt so much like she was saying "Take that you *insert insult here* I can do that too!"
I like how mobs at Pagan's randomly slap support classes, that are standing around passively, not doing anything. My theory is, that this is NCsoft's way of punishing level 56 buff boxes :p
Worst example was the Doom Knight (Death Knight?) that ran all the way down a hill, across a field, across a road, past the dark avenger that was resting, stunned me, then started wandering away as if it were nothing.
One thing that I think should be there but isn't (and isn't pointless) is that Spiders don't use webs on you. They should be able to cast a form of stun which is basically just wrapping web around you which eventually fades, they are a spider after all :D
That happened to me too once. I was buffing a paladin there every 20 minutes to help him level. So I was just sitting on the ground, when the doom knight took a cheap shot at me. I was extremely offended.
It happens all the time in Pagan's though (5 man rooms). And now that I think about it, it's mostly OOP support. The plot thickens.

I would see that more as a root, though.
/agreed getting my skills confused, been a long day at work :)
I love it when 2 or more party members are doing roughly the same amount of dmg and the mob does not know which one to attack. Sometimes it just stands there spinning around trying to decide which person to attack. When it finally decides, it is at 1/3 hp and dies before it gets an attack off.

I think I've seen a raid boss do that once.
Archers to the left of me, Nukers to the right of me. Who do I eat first???
I noticed that since IL mobs try to face you being in front of you. Originally they just came to you and started to smack no matter what. Now they try to get in front of you. So until you position right or move a bit, you turn away as you click on ground, they move around you, then you turn to that mob where it was previously, it runs around you again ... pretty funy. But they do that only at the beginning of battle, once you fight, they attack you also from back.
That's maybe the reason poling is harder, because when you first stand in the corner, you are back to train, and they try to move to the front of you.
Yes I was doing the event thing in Floran Village and the cursed seers were hitting me for 1 damage. I just wanted to be able to say "Look give it up will you and go away, it's pointless."
Platinium Shamans becomes dumb when they are silenced. They sometimes wander around the party, not knowing what to do. Sometimes they find a weapon in their hand and oh that might work, they hit.
It's funny when you're poling at TOI 9 and from time to time, an angel goes out of the group, stops near a nuker, stuns him and goes back to the group to get hit by the pole. Nukers feel so frustrated that the angel doesn't even try to kill them!
:)
Hehe on the other hand some shamans are not aware of their shaman skills: they run to you and hit you with stick for 15 damage, while drains they occasionally do in some enlightened moment do 100+ damage (depending on jewelry).
Here's something that was new to me, untill the other day. Pavel Ruins mobs that cast big head curse on you O_O It's funny, but I can't think of anything more pointless :)
in c2 angels use to do this charge up skill and it looks like it would own someone.. but it barely did any dmg =/
hello to all the old l2 people... on a trial account :S ive been inactive for a long time... that Darkmotion character still around?
Havent seen DM post anything in a while now that i come to think of it, but i suppose he's around still, watching.. lurking.. waiting for the right moment which to start typing!
Implemented totally as a joke I'm sure. If you haven't seen them, go to Schuttgart in the Plunderous Plains and fight the goblins there.
They will spoil you. Yep. Dwarven spoil. And say such things like, "The item is already inside you!"
Ya! i know what is up with that, one of these days im taking an alt down there and trying geting spoiled and dieing to see if they take and iteam from me :)
Why do mobs sleep you, then hit you, it's boggling my mind left and right for the last few weeks. Would like to see an end to that.
In a ideal game world you would think that. It would try and sleep you as a last resort and if it sticks, they would run like hell to get away from you. I know i would
South of Dion are the rough hewn golems. If you hang around them long enough they will turn to you and say"Hey, what are you looking at?" then they attack you.

That's a fun area. It's been a while since I've been there, but I swear, when you've been there for a while, the lizards remember that you've attacked some of their mates, and will aggro you randomly. When you've just arrived, they will be passive (but social).

Hehe. They also are just wandering around and if you happen to attack one too close to a Golum they get all upset and accuse you of interupting their fighting.
The bug bear mobs around HV will do that too, they'll say things like "AmberDrake your rear is practically unguarded!!" and then stun.
They also tell you to watch your back which I find funny if I'm stood near an edge or tree, it makes me think if they can get behind me in this position they are far samrter than I give them credit for :D
Vanor Silenos Chieftans that heal it's mate that's just been slept and has full HP.. i find that funny. But in the meantime it's not doing anything useful, so win for me :p
I never seen that... also to the sleep then hit comment, in the windy plains or fields whatever in the guldin region, the big ones randomly sleep you, then another debuffs you then they all float away...(it gets annoying) i prefer the sleep and hit
My best quote from a mob ingame is:
"Nice day to die maggot. Welcome to hell." (or something like that...it's been a while since I last killed Medusa's)
Pointless thing a mob do:
Sleep you then hit you (can be annoying when they interrupt your skill though).
