This is not a whine, nor do I particularly care what your opinion is of Bots and the economy. What I do know, is your average legit player, specifically those trying L2 now for what may be the first time, is seeing hundreds of bots in most newbie areas where many Pigs spawn.
If I were new to L2, on a trial account, I can't imagine lasting more than a few minutes before closing the client and deleting the game.
As a Vet of L2, it's old news, but amazing how numb we've become to it, and conditioned to accept it.
Fact is, under the normal routine of the game, my attitude after numerous dissapointments with the situation, has been "whatever" and I enjoy the game despite the bots. However, when an event finally appears, and can be taken over by bots on trial accounts no less, it is repulsive.
Since the only power we appear to have is "us", I call on all of you to log in your perma red characters, or make one, and help your server make life for these souless characters more difficult. It may not be a total solution, but any thing is better than rolling over and doing nothing.
Already made 2 perma reds during this event, even managed to keep the light elf army away from Gludin for a while, only to get both my perma reds killed countless times by real players who are too stupid to understand I'm actually helping them.
Over 80 pks on my red character (limited play time) but the buggers started bringing higher level dwarves with gear instead of naked level 1's so some of them I couldn't touch, plus they respawn so fast it's pretty pointless to do.
But yeah I agree, the other night there were more bots than pigs, up to 3 all ksing the same pigs, it was ridiculous. I was just one live player in dwarven village and could barely find a free pig to kill.
Here's the part I honestly don't understand from a NC Soft perspective.
If what I suspect is true, and 99% of them are trial accounts, shouldn't it be easier to ban a trial account than a paid one? Just have an auto script where the GM clicks on aassssifffddaaggeee and bans account with an email that auto follows to user saying "you hav been banned pending an investigation of illegal third party program use. Please respond with any information you may find helpful" Almost 100% would not even respond.
event is over in what, 2 days? you could just say "you acocount is under suspicion until the event is over". i dont think they will though. would be interested to know exactly how many bots they can fit in "the box" before the server crashes. its probably a reallyreallyreally high number.

I was killing bots until a "legit" player thought he was a genius by killing me several times when I was red. I didn't drop anything...and after that the mensa had to compete with the bots for pigs. He was easily the most brilliant person I have had the displeasure of interacting with in L2.
So yeah, I was pitching in until I decided that it wasn't worth my time.

I was lucky to have the opposite experience, although hardly made dent on Talking Island. I had to find another spot I could actually take back from the bots, and did, but Talking Island was just impossible due to the multiple Bot lords there with high levels to protect the scheme.
I never once though, during the entire event, get attacked by a Legit Player on Talking Island on Sieghardt, actually the opposite. I accidently killed a few Legit players, but fortunately they were cool enough to understand I made a mistake and we worked it out in /tells and yells.
There were a number of us trying to turn the tide in TI on Sieghardt, but it was just beyond the pale in terms of the numbers of bots. Sort of reminded me of the first day of retail on Sieghardt, but instead of the majority being real players, it was like 99% alphabet souless farmers, or so it seemed. /sigh
I killed a red by giran after he attacked me. Just because I was a naked LE. I was spamming shout with quips too, so if he was paying attention....Well, he died, I didnt and I got a nice hunting bow.
Reds have the best drop rate of any mob in the game. Your motive in killing bots is noble, but you must deal with life as it is....your nobility will not protect you from greed.
I dont mind people killing bots and would leave the red alone if they didt attack me. Just because my archer is a stripped SR, running around killing pigs, doesnt make me a bot. he might be naked, but my hunting bow hits 5x as hard as a lvl 10 pker's. I tend to leave reds alone unless they attacke real people while I am there.

There are at least 15 running around without bows who are just hitting the pigs because their genius 'owners' have left them to it and the bows have ended. There were far two many to list so it was easier to tell the GM's to have a look themselves - it wasn't rocket science to work out which were geniune players and which weren't but as I expected I was asked for a list of names. Sorry NC but I don't have the time to list so many :)

They problem is that NCSoft does not investigate bots at the time the petition goes out. I have reported bots when I knew they where all afk (they were dead for hours, twice), but they are still out there weeks later.

Yup, I think Iposted it already, but is my stripped SR that I no longer play. (it had a short bow before I got my free upgrade). I am not going to equip a toon just to hunt pigs.
Seriously though, the only reason I attacked Legit players by accident, was my own failure to pay closer attention. Even lewt names like 55OwnYou11 contains a word, as opposed to:

That's even more interesting, because now NC should know exactly which subscription accounts are the ones that need to be terminated, as they have shown themselves for this event. All one need do is pay attention. Shouldn't require any petition at all.
Just read in another post that the naked toons punching pigs are also the ones who are able to pick up the apigas when YOU kill those pigs. Seems like they know a glitch/exploit and the soulless captains aren't as foolish as one may think.
Only if they did punch the pig with fists for some time,
they got equal pick up rights. Guess who picks up faster...
I did try it out. The first pig wich got tortured by the bot for hours dropped 1 apiga and he was able to pick it up instandly.
I followed that bot and killed his new pig, he had a lock on pickup, i was able to pick it first with no haste.
