I have been soloing in VoS lately. There are some mobs there (like wisdom of splendor) that launch a DoT attack much like the one I have (freezing flame). Well much like is not correct to say. Their attack lasts for more than 40 seconds (yes, you read right, 40) and takes more than 2600 HP (around 2/3 of my total HP). You need to use healing pots and drains to keep yourself alive. And it only makes me wonder. Why PC's DoT's are not like that? Not even close? I know that DoT's will be boosted greatly in CT1. But will they be remotely like this skill? I can only hope.

i suspect the npcs dots are like that to counter the fact mages more often than not 2 hit the mob before it can move
when i hunted in vos i used the dots for easy cdling
Mob's stats and skills are sometimes anoying. Those discoballs in Cruma drain 160 MP no matter what level, MEN, mdef, equip and buffs you have. Always. Be it you are level 2 or 80.100%.
And you can get stunned by mob 30 levels lower than you.
The DoT isn't a challenge - it doesn't pose a real risk to your health, just to your mana over time ... and not being curable by any healer classes only adds insult to a really annoying injury.
My friend at level 75 got his spell resisted by a elpy and did half damage... yes a elpy... yes it was his level 74 max skill also.. he quit the next day hahah
Maybe mobs need to have these skills to make the game more chalenging. I have no problem with that. I only wonder why the PC's skills are so different and so much weaker. If mobs can DoT me (or stun me) so effectively, then I should be able to do the same (to a relevant degree of course). Right now the difference between NPC's and PC's skills is too big.

i took a lvl 1 dorf to fod once as a spy
i actually managed to resist a mob spell despite the fact i had no jewlery and like 10 mdef
don't get me wrong the mob still hit me for like 200k damage but it was funny ^^

Will this "dot" skill be used by an archer in any way?????
No?
then it isn't getting any improvement....
Archers get stronger---ONLY archers.
That's been the case 6 of 6 times, it'll be the same this time.
Everyone else gets MINOR tweeks here and there.

In CT1 DOTs get stronger :o? Now you'll get wasted by the mob's dot in an instant :). Yeah yeah i know, player dot ...
As for DOT hurting badly, well, i'm used to it, if you have a buffer/pots/whatever it's never a problem...
I hope dots get STRONG like my bleed to bleed them dry !
I don't know, many other classes besides archers have been boosted as well. Just not as much. :p
If you compare the gladiator now to the gloldiators not so long ago, or the destros after they shortened the frenzy reset (of course that's getting changed), the new roots for tanks, the changes in CT1 to favour (especially human) tanks etc...
It's just that no class except archers has seen such a wide-ranging and more importantly consistant amount of love. There was never a chronicle where archers weren't good, despite their constant whining about this or that nerf.

On the other hand, I wouldn't like the idea of mobs mcriting me for 7k+ HP several times in a buff round (as I do to them). Neither I'd want to encounter non-epic mobs with fear+lethal strike.

Lol sounds like you've been owned by a lot of archers!

Says alot that some classes wish their skills were as good as the mobs. And other classes wish the mobs skills never become like theirs.... Some issue with balance there but geeee I just can't seem to see what it is :p
Note also that some skill that can be a real problem in some PvP situations (ok, not in full buffed end game, but oh well ... what's a problem there except an archer crit?), such as slow or root... used by a mob they become a huge nuisance. x.x
