In order to find as many medals as possible for their master Collector Bashtal, Roy the Cat, Winnie the Cat, and Louie the Cat have returned to the villages of Aden and Elmore for the annual Medal Collecting Event. Adventurers will have the opportunity to receive valuable prizes, including the ever-fashionable Red Party Mask, scrolls, potions, crystals, and more, in return for bringing the feline assistants the precious medals they seek!

The medal collecting event period begins on August 31, 2007 at 10:00 AM CDT (4:00 PM GMT+1), and ends on September 13, 2007 at 10:00 AM CDT (4:00 PM GMT+1). The Event Managers will remain in the villages until September 18, 2007 at 10:00 AM CDT (4:00 PM GMT+1).
Always a good event for me but is there anyway they could update the top rewards to reflect the game as it stands now? Back when this first started the stage 12, EWA, EAA and majestic where the top stuff to have. Now we have stage 13, EWS, EAS and tat jewelry as the "harder" to get items.
Does your standing ing ht eprevious event still count, or do you have to do it over again(I have rabbit standing, would I have to get to rabbit again, or could I just work towards wolf from where I am ?)

standings have always remained and been active from previous medal events. i doubt they changed it since it is an admittedly "returning" event.

Yeah in order for most items to be worth getting medals need to be worth 1k on the market, but with the value of the stage 11 and 12 I bet medals will go for 4-6k on Hinde. An easy way to fix this would be to make the stage 11 cost 20k and the stage 12 to cost 40k and have medals drop a bit more. ;)
Why boost the price of those crystals? Rather lower the cost of the other items to reflect more their price. Or would you suffer from cheaper SA crystals, hmm? ;)
On 9/4/07, we will be handing out the First Mate's Hat to the top Golden Apiga holders on each server. This will happen during the regularly schedule maintenance period.

Thanks. Could you change the awards a bit different to reflect the market. Like add Soul L13 and either make Majestic Jewelery a lot cheaper or replace it with S grade.

At least in the past, this was DEFINITELY one of the better events.
Now if only they'd put a bit of an updated spin on this and add the chance to get some of the new Interlude accessories, Stage 13 crystals, S grade weapon and armor enchants, possibly even give out event scrolls for some of the other buffs, like Clarity, Greater Might, Holy Weapon, etc. etc., etc.
I'm really new so could someone explain it a bit better? Do they drop from ALL the mobs in the Dwarf/Orc newbie place? Do you have to start the quest to get the medals and stuff? Also where IS Winnie and such? I don't see her in the dwarf starting town :(

EVENT STARTS ON FRIDAY
Medals drop from all mobs, and drop even if you are spoiling or seeding. You do not need to start any quest. Just XP like normal and save all your medals (glittering medals are to raise your badge level).
Is it me or are some of the prizes listed wrong between Roy and Louie?
It would seem that the wandering cat would have slightly cheaper prices than the stationary cat.
Louie has the first 4 listed cheaper, then the balance higher.
My guess is the more expensive costs is to reflect the fact you don't need to have a badge to buy anything from Louie. So if you only plan to buy one item, it'll probably be cheaper than raising your level plus buying your item.
But yeah, I agree with many of the other people here. This event was pretty sweet in the past, but A-grade rewards nowadays is pretty bland. Would be much sweeter if we could get s-grade scrolls / jewelry for an adjusted price. I don't mind paying more for a 13 SA than a 12, but not many people are still in need of a-grade and bellow scrolls / SAs. Or at least a LOT of people need the s-grade.
You should make heavy metal music crystals available through the Heavy Medal event. That'd ROCK slightly more than xmas music (though I kinda like those too :)).
ehh that hardly ever effects me...I guess I'm more adaptable then most. Tho I tend to sleep on long flights. But not till after I watched a movie or read a book.
besides how can you have jet lag if you only stayed in the U.S. not like you traveled very far.

Is this the event that suffered from an inconsistent drop rate and penalised any non-NA players by having the highest rate whilst they were sleeping?
If so, was it fixed last time round? If not, will it be fixed this time round?

I was hopping for different stuff during this Heavy Metal event.. I mean it's pretty much the same crap as long ago.. I want an upgrade to it geesh, such a noobish event
hm... do dark blue mobs drop these medals? (u can tell where i'm going if they do ;))
If I remember correctly, standard drop rules apply, so the odds of you getting medals from dark blue mobs are extremely rare.
That said, if you're looking for easy one shot kills of greens, whites, and some yellows, that's easily found, depending on your level/buffs/equipment. You don't need to hunt dark blues for that.
The drop rate for this event has always sucked.. you can hunt and rampage through mobs like a mad man/woman and still come up with like 10 or 20 medals but never enough to get what you want..
And it's nice that XP penalties work in my favor. I can party the 20-ish SR with the 60 PP to help keep my XP within desired levels. Otherwise I'd quickly outlevel the one-shot kills and have to delevel, which would be time wasted. The medals seem to drop at the same rate, no matter if the PP is in party or not.
Now if onlythe event items appeared automatically in inventory, just like quest items. Then this would be the perfect event. :cool:
The drop rate seems pretty good this time around. I was playing for about 4 hours this evening on a variety of toons (but mainly doing Ketra Orcs for General's Badges, which are level 80 mobs) and have a total of 290 medals. We were only duoing the Ketras so it wasn't a fast kill rate so I think it's a pretty good rate.
And all this was between 6pm and and 11pm BST (GMT +1). Last time this event was run I'd have been lucky to get 100 medals in that time. Maybe they fixed the drop rate at last.
Mind you, at that drop rate I'd still have to play 12.5 hours per day for every day of the event in order to get a lvl 12 crystal. Kind of flys in the face of the ingame "please consider taking a break" message. ;)

Can someone please update the event manager dialogue? In one passage the event manager says that enchant scrolls are available for "All Grades". Lies!!!

I had upwards of 200+ medals after an hour on Friday night. Saturday I didn't hunt, but played the market.
The problem with this event is that I don't really need any of the prizes, so there is no motivation. I make more adena playing the market. If they had included at least one of the new Interlude accessories, I probably would be hunting on the Elven Scout still.
What I'll probably do is try to find a noob or two to help out during the event...either by buying their medals for more than market or showing them where to farm and providing buffs.
But that's later. Right now it's Labor Day weekend, the weather is gorgeous and the beach is calling.
What the heck? lol That's quite the jump! Especially when prices on EWB are about only 2x as much as EWC on my server :(. May as well just get EWD/EWC and sell 'em.
