Gladiators ~ duals

Human Classes Started Last reply 28 posts
Gladiators were always one of the coolest classes to play as a fighter, they were gimp and now they're way better (at least from 78++, which is not exactly overpowered.. since most classes at 78 are powerfull).

Many people say that you have to play pole to 40 then pole after even for lvl or two handed sword... I honestly don't like using anything but duals on a glad, as after all it's their trademark, dual wielders extraordinare... I simply won't play as Warlord when i am glad. Or sword+shield or blunt. Two handed is out too.. And most can't afford more then one top weapon for a certain grade (and even so with considerable effort/luck). And so, if it is more efficient to pole... or use 2 handers... would it mean i have to stick with that and no duals until i get where, high enough to what? pvp? As a glad i think "duals" is the only choice for an average player (meaning he's not filthy rich or has a filthy rich clan..)

Since duals are the way to go usually, a bit about OEing duals.
How does one get a dual to +4?
And i do mean C-B-A duals when you can't afford to crush them?
Simply gamble and pray to god it does not break?
If they were to break a ton of adena goes down the drain.. and i do not afford that.
And from what i saw that blessed enchants don't drop that easily and only 1, and only from 60+ mobs with a more reasonable chance but even so you'd most likely have to kill a raid 50-100 times to get 1 enchant. (and considering raids are done si 9-18++ people..)
So, what gives? Or should i give up on this if i'm not swimming in adena ? :(
Nah, you dont have to be swimming in adena to be a decent glady. It does take a lot of hard work to get your gear, a lot of market playing, but it is all worth it, yeah you dont get dual swords masteries before 40 so it is a good idea to do get through 1-40 by poling, but then on it's all dual swords. And to OE your swords it's a little bit about luck, but you can rest assured that even if they break you'll be left with some money and from that money you will have to learn to make more money.

Most glads I know, from which I learned a lot with fish, a lot, me not so much only when I got to B-A grades. I arecommend it , it's a nice way to earn a buck, relaxing and a nice break from all the grinding.

Edit.: Kilsinther is my first toon ever. Back when I was 40 and doing the class transfer quests I was indecisive about wether to go Warlord or Gladiator, and a friend of mine told me how hard it was to get gear for a glad ( she was right btw). But in my opinion there's nothing cooler than a gladie's fighting style, so everytime I kill a mob or win a duel with a triple sonic slash, and Kils does that powerful move and the mob( or player) falls to the ground (or bows) I let out a little smile and say to myself "this is SO cool!"

i lol'd irl :p

ps: no offence :)
none taken :)
Oh I am doing most things i can to gain adena :).
I was thinking of the b weapon recipes, but i noticed the mobs involved are heavy armor type so i will be hurting them for squat. And if i wanted to do this q with my dagger they have resitance to dagger to besides beeing heavy armor type... So doing the quest with a dagger type is out of the question huh? So much for access to quests to all classes, heh.
With the gladi i would still be hiting them for low dmg...
Nuker i guess are the best to do that quest, and i'm not playing that anytime this year.
Which B weapon quest?

Spirit Beads or the Pavel Ruins quest?

Pavel Ruins has mobs of various types, most are melee weak and blunt weak, perfect for melee's. (However you can get swarmed fast)

Spirit Beads has so many to choose from that you can do fine.

Unless I missed one of the new quests that offer up B Weapon Recipes.
Oh, i was referring to the Pavel Ruins one, i saw most mobs if not all are golems, let me document myself better about the other quest. Thanks for the heads up.

EDIT: So, my question comes again, why are they resistant to dagger? How am I supposed to do them on my dagger ? (as my PW is higher then my wouldbe glad (can't wait to level him thou :)). Daggers aren't supposed to make this quest? Discrimination >_<. And the other lvl 50 quest involves "gambling" which i personally hate. I'd rather get something even if it's almost uselss then get NOTHING. **** me <_<.
Daggers can still do it fine.

Considering that almost all are melee weak, thus it would be they would virtually cancel each other out. (The Melee weak vs Dagger resist)
Hehe, thanks for the info, i've cooled down a bit! I was steaming here.
Anyway, i've thought of something, is it worth ending an attack on a mob with a triple slash (overhit) whenever i can? Or will i end up at a higher level with not enough SP to learn my skills? (and glad has ALOT of them :S). I know overhit gives extra exp but not extra SP...
Thanks.
SP aint that big of a deal if you know what you want (and it seems you do) there are a lot of skills you dont need to learn if you're going to be a dual glad. Besides at higher lvls you'll have a LOT of spare SP to learn whichever skill you may want to learn.
Always try to overhit regardless.

As the poster above said, SP really isnt a issue unless your a clan leader, and even then..not much of a issue.

You'll notice your exp per hour go up a pretty fair amount just from overhitting.
I suppose that depends on personal preference, me i dislike overhitting too much. While i have no SP problem at the moment i will have later when i face the nicer S grade skills and those will be a rugged pain in the butt i imagine, lol.
The 2nd class change quest took me to Ivory Tower Crater and I gained many SBs there. After getting a few prices wrong, I followed the market and managed to make quite a bit of adena. Eventually enough to make my own Stormbringer Duals using the Luxury shop. I didn't know any better at the time. I took a risk and got them to +4. The fourth enchant was months after the first three.
Thanks to the last event and a nice HG Life stone and some more saving, I've managed to get some +4 SLS. A clannie actually did the enchanting so I have him to thank.

On class changes now, we get shadow tokens. These have made it possible to get a decent weapon straight away at the class change and made it far easier for a player to get a decent weapon of the right level.
I enjoy playing the Glad as she can take some punishment without fear of dying.
Go Glads !
I'm faced with the dillema of having them OEd :). I don't like taking risks with my adena, especially when it's not as easy to come by when you're not a pro at playing the market and most of it was made during the last event.
But hey, maybe i will take a leap of faith with OE, if i fail, i'll just have to slowly recover from the fall, can't stay safe forever :o.
66% chance is betting odds frankly :P

I've only ever had one fail at +4, Damascus*Tallum Blade.

Obviously it would be one of the most expensive there is, oh well.

Good luck if you do it! :)
I try + mine every 4 to 6 months and so far that's been working I'm at +9 on my keach* keach in 6 months I will try go for +10
I broke 4 D wep from +3 to +4 :p. The 5th i kept at +3... I was starting to loose money. This some time ago.
The thing about oeing duals, is that you dont really have a choice if you want to move on in the game. No one will buy a +3 dual, and I do mean no one (at least on Lionna), people who buy duals either make them from scratch or want to buy them already oe'd. So you might as well oe them while you can use them...
test
Ok, tested, and failed. I'm not oeing anymore. Lost a few good millions (as reselling the crystals does not cover all the expenses of making them).
While you say i have no choice i beg to differ. You have :). And duals sell at +3 or even clean, you end with alot more adena then if you were to sell the crystals anyway, so the gain is obvious.

Meh, i'll stick to not participating in lotteries, always hated them anyway, i'll leave those to people with much more time on their hands. :)

What's with all the tests Judas?

:(

No Vegas for you I guess.
Hahaha... I've tryed to enchant my D-Duals today to +12... Miserably failed. Lost alot of adena. Good thing I was smart and left one +11 for myself.
lol guys. 0x-4x grind is not worth it to OE stuff. wait till c or b grade at least
0-40 = As high grade blunt weapon as possible. BOOM! Crack them heads open.
As a matter of fact.. its sad but true >.<

btw mulch i liked one of your older sigs better... the %'s one where slacker was at 100%.. totally in my spirit ^^

Live and learn, the temptation was too great, but I was also stupid, OEing when you don't actually afford to do so easily. (have a spare? or at least the adena to rebuilt them immediatley).
Making quests can give you extra SP that you lose on OverHits. Its no way to use OverHit without using proper way of your quests in game.
Just fond NPCs that give you SP and you can have fun dealing your OH.
