Hi....New player here with a couple of questions

General Discussion Started Last reply 11 posts
Just started a couple of days ago and found the noob areas totally dead apart from bots. I already knew this was going to be the case so its not a surprise ... but at what level will I start to see enought real players that I will be able to find groups to hunt with or do do dungeons etc...20? ...40? ...60?

Also ...

I played Asherons call on DT server where they had PK guilds, anti PK guilds and neutral guilds. The members of PK guilds would pretty much attack anyone anywhere that wasnt in their guild or an ally, the anti PK'ers would attack any known PK guild members on sight and the neutrals would keep to themselves and only fight if attacked. I really liked this mix which gave some reason to world PvP. Do we have the same in this game and if so is there a website or something that lists the guilds and whether they are PK guilds ..anti Pk etc.
Once you start doing your level 20 class change quest you will see more players. These will mainly be in the towns but more often than not you will see people doing the quests also. This is the best time to chat to people, especially if you start quests at the same time. If you see the same person in different locations, just say "hi". Most people will respond and you can go on your travels together!

I'm not sure which server you're on, but on Sieghardt there isn't really a clan who kills anyone outside of theirs but there are a few "warred" alliances who kill eachother. Be wary of anyone bearing a bright red name though; chances are they'll be ready jump on you.
If you check out Dion around level 16 you can kill outside of town and probably meet a few people there.

Pkers have pretty much left lionna. There are 3 or 4 still out there that randomly kill around gludio and dion but not as often as they use to.
sorry bad omission from my post ..I'm on Teon server
At 20+ when you visit Dion you should start seeing lots of real players (at least on Sieghardt server) :)

Due to the PK penalty in L2 there are no true PK clans. You might run into a single PKer (with a red name) now and then but they are usually clanless.

In L2 the main clan types are PvP clans and Neutral clans. The PvP clans are busy warring each other while the Neutral clans focus on leveling. The PvP clans pretty much ignore the neutrals unless they happen to get in their way.

Edit: Almost forgot, welcome to L2 :)
Hey Yurin,

I'm an old Darktide player too. Started first week of its birth. Great to see you here.

Although this game allows one to attack another, it really isn't built for FFA. There is a Karma system which deters it. This is a PvP game for sure, but it is more of a Clan vs Clan, Alliance vs Alliance, and Castle Seige based PvP game.

As such, there is no RPK, Anti, or the like, although there are definately great folks, and *****hats, so you will feel at home on that score ;) :)

I always hoped for a server with no Karma system in L2, but truth is, the drop tables and other aspects of this game are so different from Darktide, UO, and the like, that the manner with which PvP is handled here makes more sense for this game.

I was away from L2 for two years, returned within the past few months, and am more addicted than ever. The beginning levels are the most boring. There is so much awesome content, you should see if a higher level character can take you around and give you some idea of what you have to look forward to as you advance.

If you change your mind on server, give me a PM here, or a yell in game to Bambam. Be happy to lend an old Darktider a hand. I'm on Sieghardt.

Good luck. -Bambam
see ppl at dion (15-45ish)

get in a clan

pk thing is sorta same as l2
Since you're on Teon, if you're interested in joining a clan, check my signature for more details ;)
While you may see people in a starter village from time to time, you more than likely won't run into a more stable population until you late 30's. Although anything post 20 will see more traffic.

Gludin/Gluido are low population, although this may change when the next update hits and the new Race arrives as well as higher level hunting grounds to the south and south east.

Thus Dion is the current 'population hub' with Aden/Goddard/Run being secondary spots for higher level chars. Oren has a small number of people in or passing through given it's location while schuttgart is largely empty because of it's location. Innadril is mostly empty for reasons of location but again with the next update that may change again. Pretty much all of Elmore (Orc/Dwarf) areas suffer from this as well, at least until mid-40s when peopel like to hit Pavel...but it's so easy to level there and in the Frozen Labyrinth that they outlevel it pretty fast.

Thus for meeting people and finding low(er) level groups Dion is the best place to hang out around.

I played Asherons call on DT server where they had PK guilds, anti PK guilds and neutral guilds. The members of PK guilds would pretty much attack anyone anywhere that wasnt in their guild or an ally, the anti PK'ers would attack any known PK guild members on sight and the neutrals would keep to themselves and only fight if attacked. you will love L2. PK clans? yea, ive seen a couple on the devianne server. but more than that, there is so much drama once you get into a clan, wars and allies (a clan im in now just declared war on the other clan in their ally, after a particularly bad fiasco). there are clans that kill anything they can handle, and clans that try not to kill anyone, and clans that kill raidbosses with names like nuumnumum. best thing to do, is find yourself some people you like, hop on their vent and see if their sense of humour matches yours. everything else is just xp, and xp is gained to be lost. welcome to L2 ^^
thanks to everyone for the replies
(Bambam & Aspecti.... will bear that in mind .....cheers)
