There was super mass bannings in all the catas/necros/Silenos/Orcs on Kain and probably others. You guys post 50x when you get a pm you dont want but no thanks to NCSoft when they do something or did I completely miss something?
ol mahums around bandit stronghold were bot-free the other day. i didnt see any in forgotten temple either. but i think its common for the playerbase to show its appreciation by complaining about somthing else, like frenzy nerf.
On my server, TI was filled with bots the other day when I was leveling up a new toon. Of course I reported them. I don't know if they were all banned, or if they just out-leveled the area, but soon after they were all gone and I haven't seen a bot there since.
I really hope this is the new trend in bot-removal.

Wow! It's been months I haven't even tried to XP in catas and I'm sorely missing the multi-room poling. I'm going to check it out right away!
I would like to say "hurrah", but on Teon the ecological niches have been filled by new Silent Companions pretty quickly.
So... waiting for the next ban hammer.
And I'm waiting for a particular ban hammer on someone who's known by the whole server as Mister Powerlevel Services, poling in catas and selling large quantities of outrageously over-enchanted weapons.
No name here, Teon players know who I'm talking about. I can only assume they are trying to find who to ban by association, but he's earning a good amount of real money and ******* off a good amount of players. Maybe that's why I'm not with you in the joy of mass bans. There's very few free-from-bot spots.
In a more perfect world they'd find a way to break the software they use. For what it's worth, Blizz couldn't stop it either. But they put in an easy one-click report feature that at least put a stop to the spam.

It's been years that subscribers have been complaining about automated toons ruining many of the best hunting spots in L2. Some of us left(me) for several years and some of us(also me) came back eventually. I accept L2 for it's fundamental flaws and since coming back to L2 I have accepted NCSoft's general (in)action regarding bots.
In short, this issue has outlived many(most?) of the players that once loved this game, and whatever NCSoft has done recently, a quick trip to a Cat/Necro will illustrate how they still lack policies and actions with true "bite".
Bots were a problem when I left in 2004. It's 2007 and you're the one making a post about how we(paying customers) should be overjoyed that they've banned somebody.

Same on Gustin, and i will name them DragonFire & FDGhost Allys. They have taken over the Varka's and Beast Farm, and will PK you even if you enter "their spot" and call you "fools" Everyone on Gustin either gets a kick out of them or absolutely hates them.
Ex: 4 parties and 2 ppl pulling on Striders in the Varka's. 4 Dwarf's (spoils are great up there) and at least 20 Sorc's's doing the AOE Flame Nukes, and a crap ton of ppl in C & D Gear getting powerlvled.
When was this? A couple of weeks ago I was taking turns for a room in Branded with some bots...they were nice enough to allow me to have it when I was logged on, and when I logged out or soed they took it over, until I came back...
No peace in catas/necros on Teon.
Tried Witch Cata and similar lvl - finding even the smallest room was near to impossible.
Hot Springs - power lvl and bots.
Blazing Swamp - bot trains.

LOL...yes the mass bannings are pretty cool and to hear 2high complain on TS about the mat prices is pricless.
Nice job NcSoft.
Now up the mats drop rates to help the craft business and I'll be happy.
Mats prices would drop if castles paid a bit more. If your entire manor system pays out just enough to craft 1 S grade weapon per day then mat prices will go up.
I needed a lot of DMP and calculated the cost for the buy price on seeds but the cost/time was not worth it. I put up a buy store and did another quest to get money instead.
Well the problem with underlying policy is the bans really don't do anything. They take it as cost of business. The farmers just buy more 10 dollar serial keys, and 6 months worth of play time. Level them back up through NoS all the way back to DO in 2 months time. 9 man bot train takes 630 bucks to run for 6 months. When you make 10 times that in sales, no problem. NC happy cause they bought 100+ in account serials. Win Win, unless you want a cata room.
Then theres the smart botters who magically don't get banned.
Well, if the bannings are made on higher level bots, then that is a big blow on bot companies. Although they have bots on all levels farming mats and adena, higher level ones are harder to get there, so it hurts them more.
And you think they use their own credit cards why? They use stolen credit card numbers to get on. NcSoft doesnt' get any of that money and they don't pay any of that money.

These are really nice bots..! I wish all of them were like that :)
Oh and even better if they handed me over the WM SB I am trying to get in Witch (where it is impossible to find a free room).
Bah, I couldn't care less if botters are "nice", "kind", "generous", and whatnot.
If a train leaves the room and pm's me I can have it as long as I leave them alone, I will still report and grief them. They obviously don't shun cheating, and chances are they are supplying ebay adena. I strongly doubt they're levelling a train of "asdfavcs", "liiIlillliI", "asdffuih", and "fiuwer2" for their future own, personal pve use.
A while ago, I was constantly training aoe stunner mobs onto these 4 bot trains all ran by the same user. At first he kept trying to pk me (with some success at times, assuming he managed to get all his minions to attack me), then he started forcelogging, but after he realised I would be right there when he logged back on, he offered me 1 million an hour to leave him alone. I took the money and trained him again.
Actually, as I recall, this may have changed in the last little while, but when there is credit card fraud, the vendor still gets paid, it's the bank who loses the money.
EX: Criminal walks into store, uses stolen credit card for $2000 purchase. Later that day the cardholder calls the bank to alert them their credit card is missing and the last time they used it was the previous week. Regardless if the vendor checked for ID and matched signature (which they are supposed to do), the vendor will receive the $2000, the bank takes the loss, the cardholder completes an affidavit and the charge is then removed from her account. The following year the banks fees go up by approx $5 because they want to make up the losses from all the credit card fraud.
If this changed, it would have to be very recent, like in the last year.

Yup, the ones that have the Varka and Ketra lvls that can get S Armour recs. If they were to ban them, that would be a real blow to their economy. Many ppl on Gustin actually train a Ketra to the Varka area and get the party to hit the Ketra Orc and make the whole party loose 1 rank for the Varka's.

Pretty much... but let's not forget who's money it is we're talking about in these transactions.
Hint: It's not the guy holding the little plastic card.
This is why things are starting (albeit slowly) to turn against the RMT trade. On the one hand, many banks and lending agencies are getting scammed out of money being used to pay for the accounts, because the credit cards are stolen. On another, the U.S. Treasury Department is investigating the practices of the sellers for failing to file proper taxes and licensing and such... you do, after all, require a license to operate a business in the US, and they are also now monitoring where those funds are going when someone uses RMT services. I'd imagine that DHS has a hand in it, now, too, looking for front-companies donating to supposed terrorist groups or whatever...
