Support is extremely lacking

Apparently after four petitions each one taking at least an hour for a response, the problem still can't be solved? This is not about bots so lower your weapons please..

So I made a character on another server just for a change of pace. Just to note, this is my second character on this server, but I never actually played this character. I did the starting quest (killing Gremlins and such for a gem), completed it, and did not receive my newbie tokens, NG recovery scrolls, and whatever else it gives (NG Soulshots?). Ok, so I petitioned, assuming it wouldn't be too hard to solve. Well after the first response of "oh hey, we're glad your problem was solved by yourself as it seems you got the items" which it sure as hell was NOT the case, I sent another petition. One hour later ---- "oh we're sorry, the newbie benefits are only for your first character". Ok, I could understand that. Too bad I created another character and redid the quest. Guess what, he attained the items. Wow, thanks for the false information?

*sends another petition*

...

*one hour later*

"We're glad your problem was solved!".

Oh my god they misinterpreted what I said. Apparently saying "hey I made a new character and he got the tokens, why didn't I get them on this character" means that since my other character got them my problem was A-OK and case closed.

*fourth petition sent*

"Hello, sorry but it seems like your first character (as I noted way back) had gotten the items etc etc so you cannot get anymore. Thanks!"

...Ok but I just said in an earlier petition that I made a new character and he had received the items. Thank you support. You're awesome. I was about to send a fifth petition but I just gave up after that, and decided to pay 23k to port to Talking Island, which wasn't that fun seeing as how I'm just starting out on this server.

What was the point of this seemingly-long-rant-that-felt-long-while-typing-but-is-actually-short-when-read-complaint? That the support sucks. I mean, really. Should I really have to send four petitions over the course of four hours for a problem that should've been able to be solved? I would've even taken a "it's a bug, sorry for the inconvenience". I would've been fine with that. But no, they had to repeat the same things over and over. I even disproved their responses about it only being given to the first character, and that's what really got to me.

One hour later ---- "oh we're sorry, the newbie benefits are only for your first character".

Wow, old information. Can our newbie GMs on the lower tier get an updated FAQ to cut-and-paste their info from?
The thing is GM's don't listen. Always send a vague petition request and ask for upper teir GM. You'll probably at least get to talk to a real GM that way instead of just getting automated BS.

I HATE the automatedness of the GM's. I suggest we ban them for botting.
What i would suggest is to open a support ticket on the website, then your not limited to that 5 petition thing.

That really wasn't his problem in this case. Read closer. That's what he needed the GMs to do as well.

I did, in fact, open a support ticket on the website. However it says they'll get back to me in the next business day, which is (generally) monday through friday. By then I'll be 20, so that doesn't exactly help too much :(
Yeah, if you're going to make a support ticket on the website you'll be waiting longer than talking to a GM...

I've had a problem before where I paid to teleport and my character even showed up in Aden for a second. Then I crashed out of game and magically the character was back in Oren and of course I was still out tele fees.

Long story short, got sick of waiting on GM and just paid again (sure it wasn't that much but still...). Closed the GM window and even evaluated response was way to slow.

I'm xping with my archer in cemetary. All of a sudden a GM window pops up lol (OMG Actual GM! I don't remember if I was escalted to higher teir or not..). He went through the logs and said that he saw I paid twice. But for some reason he could not grasp his pretty little head that the stupid gate keeper had ripped me off. Lol I just gave up and said forget it pretty much, didn't have time for their crap. It was only 6800 adena anyway haha, maybe if I was going to Schuggart....
oof, I have so many stories of frustrating GM encounters. The primary one being when I would repeatedly crash to my desktop without fail when doing my artisan quest. It went through 2 escalations over 4 days, all 3 gm's suggesting that I should restart the quest and try again before they looked into it, and ultimately the response was "can't help you if you restarted the quest, bye". Don't get me started on when I lost my hatchling pet because of a criterror and the response was that there was nothing wrong with the server logs.

It's just frustrating and time-consuming how all information seems to get lost when it escalates. Don't these people forward my original petition?

Your guess is as good as mine :p
I agree with the poster - some of the responses I get from the frist teir GM makes me laugh so hard I almost pee myself.

Spam - if you are reading this.. please please please re-train the lower level GM's - some of them are very good, but some of very very bad.
I had a support incident with both a good and an awful ending last night. I went to Beast Farm with some friends for a few hours. At one point, after the Olympiad had started, I noticed that no adena was dropping from any mobs. After this went on for something like maybe 30 minutes, I subitted a petition the the GM.
The good: Within maybe like of 2 minutes of submitting the petition, adena starting dropping again, even though I had not yet received a reply from the GM.
The bad: When I logged in this morning, I got my reply from the GM. Paraphrasing, it said that I would just have to hunt longer for the quest item.
Yep, my last 3 petitions have warranted responses from them that had nothing to do with my question. Each subsequent petition I reworded until it was painfully clear what I was asking for.

The response still had nothing to do with what I was asking.

I have learned that the first tier GM's of late either have horrid english comprehension skills, or are not even reading the entire petition before replying, or they are using a keyword triggered auto-response.

Anything apart from those three things, and it would seem the GM's enjoy driving our blood pressure up more than helping. Which sucks, cause I have (in the past) had some good convo's with GM's over issues, but not in almost a year.
Outsourcing rules the world (http://www.wipro.com/), heck I work in team outsourced to our country too. Talk about cheap workforce and globalisation.
Ok I really don't want to play the jerk here because I know that our CS is not perfect. I am constantly trying to improve things.

But... (there is always a but isn't there!) I was totally confused too and I have all of your petitions sitting in front of me.

@OP

What character did not have the newbie perks? I ask this because the character you were petitioning from had the newbie travel tokens. Personally if I saw this as a petition:

I realize that I was not given my newbie travel tokens, spiritshots, and whatever else the Newbie Helper NPC gives all new characters after doing the Blue Gem quest, killing Gremlins. Why did I not get them, and is it still possible to get it? Thanks.

I would check to see if your character (the one you are petitioning from) had newbie tokens. (It did)

I would answer with:

Thank you for contacting us. We have investigated your issue and found that it has been resolved by your own and you got the items. Thanks for your patience. Please let us know if you require any further assistance. Thanks for playing Lineage II.

This answer is assuming that you petitioned before you had newbie tokens and you got them by the time I answered.

Yes on the 4th petition you sent, they did give you some weird info stating that your older character had the newbie items and that the one you were petitioning from did not qualify but, the 3 petition before that simply stated that it was obvious to the GM your issue was solved and that you could not recieve the items on the same character twice.

So, does your character have the newbie items? If it does not, which character is missing the items because I can see it.

Please remember that /GM is a 911 for an emergency. If you get an unsatisfactory answer please use the out of game support system so a manager can look at the issue.

Thanks
~spam
The character that did not have the newbie travel tokens was the character I had petitioned on (whose name I rather not post). At the time of that first petition, I did *not* have those tokens. So what I had petitioned at the time was true. The other three petitions were basically trying to build upon what I was trying to say, but the 255 character limit severely hindered my ability to give a detailed report about what was happening.

I did receive the tokens, but not from any petitions I had sent. I received them after I arrived on Talking Island, when I talked to the newbie helper there. Note that my character was an Elf, so I should've received it from the one in the Elven Village in the first place. Kind of defeats the purpose of them..?

I don't know what else to say. At the time of the first petition - no tokens. I still don't see why the GM had said I had the tokens. I checked my inventory, my quest inventory.. I even counted the number of items and checked if it matched up to what was said (how you have, say 39/80 in your inventory, etc etc). Everything said "hey, you don't have your tokens". Perhaps the tokens you're seeing now are the ones I received after I went to Talking Island? I sent all four of those petitions back in the Elf area just to clarify. All before I received any of the tokens and such.
I'm just wondering, what is a 911 emergency in L2?
I read both of your posts and spams reply and i have a question. Because of the limiting text room in petitions and how it wasn't an emergency. Wouldn't it have been best to use the web support system?

Well, besides the whole "I'll be 20 by the time they respond" (which was the case), isn't a quest bug important? There's a specific spot in the petitions. "Quest Related", and I quote (well, sort of) "Please submit any unusual activities e.g. inability to obtain a quest item" Why is it there if it is not meant to be used? Should I only use it if its affecting my all-important Noblesse quest or something? I don't think it should matter whether its for a simple thing such as travel tokens, or for completing your Noblesse quest - a bug, in my opinion, is an emergency.

I'm just wondering, what is a 911 emergency in L2?

i once had two weapons equipped at the same time. now if it had been 2 drac bows, that would have been an emergency.

One of my clannies had the exact same problem - he couldn`t get newbie bonus items on his char (Peppilotta). He didn`t petition though, because he doesn`t think petittioning helps (after his bot-petitions, i guess). Maybe you can look onto his case too, while you are at that?
Thanks a bunch.
Actually AFAIK you get those tokens after you talk to newbie guide in village, not after you talk to priest or whoever in start zone with gremlins and bring him blue gem. You get only soul/spiritshots at first. Then he tells you to move to village and talk to newbie helper.
You are correct, Crawlerin.
Crawlerin - clannie talked to both actually, and to no avail. And he did both quests for ss and newb weapon - he got his rewards for starter character, but he still lacks newbie travel tokens and penalty scrolls.
Yeah, support needs some kind of upgrade.... Have you ever taken a break for a few months, come back, run out the gate and died because some lower level mob hit you with a magic attack and all your jewelry is gone? I sent in a petition, and they said it was just a visual error. They said my jewelry is really there, and the stats are there for having it, but they were wrong. I had to go buy all new jewelry.
No, I have never done that, let me make sure I understand.

You came back to the game (welcome back!) and forgot that you didn't have any jewelry and a mob killed you with a magic attack. You then purchased jewelry and were better protected. I'm sorry but I don't see how that was support's fault. While it is true that you may need to hit Tab Tab to see your jewelry, your mdef stats are the same for game calcs whether you see it or not.

It takes some 'getting back into' the game when you return, and I know deaths are frustrating. Hang in there.
No, let me re-state what I said. I came back to the game and all my jewelry on one character was gone. I noticed this when I died from a relatively low level mob. The GM said it was visual error only, and that my jewelry really was there. It wasn't. It's not that big a deal, it was only in D grade. The point is, all my characters were and are fully equipped. My jewelry disappeared, and support said it was simply visual error. Could be worse, I could have come back to find all my higher level gear missing.

Actually AFAIK you get those tokens after you talk to newbie guide in village, not after you talk to priest or whoever in start zone with gremlins and bring him blue gem. You get only soul/spiritshots at first. Then he tells you to move to village and talk to newbie helper.

Like what Arriel said, I had also done both.
I know it doesnt have much to do with this subject but...(yes HGM there is always a but) My bot petitions, could u magic those up? the hundreds of them? With the dates? With the EXACT time i post them and the exact jibberish names and exactly where i report them? If u can get all this information about this little quest malfunction thing, why cant u delve deeper into my petitions about bots??

I report:

Name, place, real time.

Thats enough to me. I get a response back, "if we can prove beyond all reasonable doubt that the suspected violator is using 3rd party software we will do something". I get that pretty much everytime...its like i got my name on a post it note next to the /gm super computer or sumthing and they just auto-response me to keep me quiet. "oh its him again, bah going on about bots again, lets just auto-response him".

What im geting at is; if u can magic up all that information about this starter quest malfunction thing, why isnt more done about bot petitions? Name, place, Real time (inc. date). Thats all it should take; then magic up ur invisible GM characters and observe the "suspected violator" and if they are botting (which they always are because i only petition when im certain) and it doesnt take much to see, ban them. Surely, if u can magic up word for word petitions about this quest thing, u can magic up my petitions, do it, i dare u. Magic them up, and also the naff response i get. You say you try and i really truly believe you do try, and bots do get banned, but none so far that i petitioned. Infact the server im on, i petitioned 1 certain person for botting in EV with a whole bot train is now in one of the top clans. Characters i petitioned for botting their subs in Pavel Ruins (i have screen shots oh yes, which i have sent) and also botting them later in Blazing Swamp are now heroes on the certain server i play on. Its not like its 1 person, it half of the **** bot group, i think 3 of them. How can u explain that??

Anyway i just want this stuff cleared up because it really really annoys me how (sorry OP) silly little petitions get this much attention when there is more important ones. No one quits cos they didnt get their newbie tokens, people do quit however about bots, i know which petition id rather look at. Contact me in-game if u like GM's id love that, for you to explain to me your priorities, forum name's the same in-game. This isnt an abusive thread, this is a formal, one adult to another thread, and this adult would like answers.
i think part of the problem is that they do a message test, which is really a waste of time, imo.

GM: hi
person using third-party software: not bot.
GM: are you really not a bot or is that the only thing you can say because you are a bot trying to convince me in an automated way that you are not?
person using third-party software: not bot.
GM: k, this one is obviously a real player just playing with me, next petition please.

the ability of a player to respond to a GM should not be used as concrete evidence to provide a reasonable doubt that third-party software is not being used. the two have nothing to do with each other, so the test isnt worth doing. keep in mind that it might take a week or more for a petitioned bot to be banned, because its more efficient to tie 800 bots to one boulder and throw them in the ocean together, than assign one rock to each bot individually.
So, no answer from HGMspam yet... what was the point of asking char name then ))
I want to say that indeed support lacks. I have worked for a few years as a customer service rep (for an ISP no less) and I know how hard it can be, but I also have very high expectations because of such.

Now, I occassionaly fire up L2 from the office on a 2nd computer. And when I am trully bored, I have my toon attack an NPC in a city. So here I am, having my prophet attack an NPC in Aden and I leave without logging out. I arrive home, and force log the account and log in, what do I find? My prophet dead INSIDE the city, and not only that, I lost about 4% or so of XP. So I do a petition.... after an hour or so, GM replies please detail more. So I try to detail more... hit a 255 character limit, redo the thing to try to make it shorter while making it as clear as possible. Again, a wait for 1 hour and again GM replies a canned message saying re-do my petition. I got fed up as I could have made that 4% in those 2 hours I waited.

I won't waste time dissing GMs or NCSoft. Not only is it futile, but it won' t improve the situation and when I see people act that way, I think automatically "13-y.o. crybaby"

What the GMs need is training on how to handle matters. They have to learn how to take initiative at times.

Here are pointers on what they need help with:
- When should ask more questions from the players
- When should they escalate to someone higher up
- When should they send a canned answer
- When should they take initiative

It is also important that players do their share. Detail in clear english (no "I ned hlp 4 my qst") what you need help with when doing a petition. Leave out the foul language, as tempting as it is to do so.
Well, the NPC got buffed with Blazing Skin/Freezing Skin so you basically killed yourself :/ Perhaps the GMs spent some time to look for a kind answer to explain your mistake :p
Well, it would have been nice to have an answer that said something similar to "Not a bug - caused by player action". The canned answer they gave me is that they did not understand. See, that is part of the proper training. This was an example of WHEN not to send a canned answer :)

So, no answer from HGMspam yet... what was the point of asking char name then ))

Well the issue was solved before I even answered this post. :) Beyond, that a report was sent to find out why this one particular NPC did not give Newbie stuff to this one customer.

I mean no disrespect but lets talk about your issue. Your first petition was answered in 2 minutes but unfortunately it was very unclear. It basicly said you were at 0 hp and inside the city and you left your client running and logged in from home.

The second petition did take an 44 minutes as there were other customers in front of you in the queue. You supplied a good amount of information and all they ask you to do was please send what time the death happened at.

In both petitions they told you that both petitions would not count against your total for the day as they just needed more info. If you had replied with the time the GM that got your issue would have had all the info they needed and could have told you what happend.

In the future you do not need to stop your game playing if you petiton. Just stand up, send your petition and go do what you would normally do. The GMs have logs and and add any lost exp right on top of your earned exp. If you ever feel that it is important for a GM to see something at that moment just take a screenshot then move along. We will then send you a support ticket you can attach the screen shot to.

So no hard feeling here... unfortunately there is not a lot instant gratification in Lineage II and that includes GM support.

So no hard feeling here... unfortunately there is not a lot instant gratification in Lineage II and that includes GM support.

Haha the head GM made a funny!

Hey Spam, next time I get killed because a petition response window pops up can I get all my xp back? :D
They dont answer its a computer. i tested this out a few weeks ago. I wrote a sweet/nice petition to them saying what a nice job there doing. right at the very end in the sentance i wrote this as is <bot>. <--- at the very end after the period. I got back a response telling me we can not help you with out the names of the suspected players your reporting.

My setup petition had 0 to do about bots. Yet placing the word bot at the very end made the diffrence. Ther Petition center is runned by a advanced Keyword searcher, dose not matter what you type certain words will forward your petition to a Bot responce lol.

So yes Support is in the hands of the T101 model "ill be back"

actually, you had to provide a "petition type" as well...my bet is you selected the "report a bad user" link. but serriously, no petition system is intended for this sort of test...do you dial 911 to tell those people what a good job they are doing, and how much you appreciate their contributions to the general welfare of humaniods local to your area? no, because they would tell you where you can stick your compliments, hang up on you, and FINE YOU for a prank call. you can put compliments at the end of a completed petition if you are so inclined, where it wont waste anyones time.
My own experience of NCSoft support:

Coming back from holiday back in august, I was surprised to find one of my char with a name changed because it didn't respect the so called Rules of Conduct etc.

Here is my whole discussion with NCSoft support.

Greetings,

We are issuing you an official warning concerning violations by your account, Lakthazer , of the User Agreement and the Rules of Conduct. Further violations of the User Agreement or Rules of Conduct of any type will result in temporary suspension or permanent termination of your account from the server. We ask that you take whatever steps are necessary to ensure that such action is not required. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation regarding this matter.

This warning is in regards to your use of the inappropriate name Rapetout, which has currently been changed to Namechange6637.

If you would like your name changed to something more appropriate, please respond to this email with a minimum of 3 names you would like it to be changed to, in order of preference. As long as the name is not already taken, we will gladly change your name to something you prefer.

If there are any additional questions or concerns, or if there is anything else that we may be able to assist with, please let us know and we will help as soon as possible. If you have already received an in-game warning, this is simply for your documentation and is not a repeat warning for the same offense.

Hello,

May I please know in what way the name Rapetout does not respect the rules?
Because tthere is the '[censored]' in Rapetout?
Sorry guys but not everybody has english as mother language. Mine is French.
And in french Rapetout is a name in comics. Rapetout is the french name for the Beagle Boys (the enemies of Uncle Scrooge in Disney cartoons) and it's either spelled Rapetout or Rapetou.

So I hope I can keep that name and go on playing this character.

Regards,

Rapetout

Could you please answer my questions instead of issuing automatic answers please? I'd really like to know why the name Rapetout is not appropriate (please read my previous answer before answering again).
In the worst case (meaning: if I don't get non standard meaningless answers to my questions), I'll just resign my subscription as I consider it unfair that the name isn't accepted. And as I planned to try Aion, be sure I won't if that ultimate action has to be taken. Nor shall I ever play any NCSoft game again.

And by the way, my name is not Web!

Greetings,

We understand your concern but unfortunately we Game Masters are not able to grant you the desired name as it has been found inappropriate. We would like to suggest you to get back to us with three appropriate alternative names you would like it to be changed to, in order of preference. As long as the name is not already taken, we will gladly change your name to something you prefer. Thanks for your cooperation.

But you still haven't answered my question: in what sense is the name 'Rapetout' inappropriate? When you state this, you could give the reason. I don't find any so I wonder what makes you pretend it's inappropriate.
Moreover, the name has been given to the character in september 2006 and suddenly, it's inappropriate ... Strange.

This is the last time I ask an answer to my questions. If you don't give a suitable reason, I'll cancel my account without further delay.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting the Lineage II Support Team. The use of the word, "[censored]", either in chat or in name is not allowed in Lineage II despite the fact that you did not intend it in the context it is normally used in. Because of this, your character's name was changed to Namechange6637. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and annoyance that this has caused you but this decision is final. We would like to change this name for you to something more to you liking. Therefore, please respond to this ticket with a minimum of 3 names you would like it to be changed to, in order of preference.

We await your response.

You win, I canceled next payment for my account. You don't accept names like 'Rapetout' because '[censored]' is used.
Then why do you use words such as 'inconvenience'? Part of that word is 'con', which is an insult in french.
You just lost 1 client. And be sure I'll never play any NCSoft game anymore.

If I remember well, wine is made out of grapes. According to what you're trying to make me believe, grapes is not the correct word anymore because there is '[censored]' in grapes. Could you please tell me what the new name for grapes is nowadays, maybe it has changed from 10 years ago when I used to study german languages (dutch-english-german) at university. This is just to point out that your policy as you apply it is completely stupid. And it definitely doesn't help making the game fun and clean.

Talking about cleanness, how about the bots? And should everybody call his/her character jklhli1234 in order to fit your so called Rules of Conduct?

Just for the fun, change Rapetout to Violitall (I don't think that one is in use already), I'll play with it till 13th of september, date at which my account will stop.

Hello,

Thanks for getting back to us! We have changed your character's name to Violitall. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

May your find fame and glory during your adventures in the Land of Aden!
---------------------------------------------------------------------

END.

you must know that 'Viol' is the french for 'R..e' and 'it all' is a translation of the french word 'tout' ...

And to be complete: I first suspended my account. Then, as I couldn't find any interesting game, I subscribed again ... till I find another interesting game .
Just wait a second.....

Ok it took two replies before you got the answer you wanted....The GM's can only enforce the rules as the default language of english.

Now, you went through a different GM each time that is were the problem is. It's like you have to start over from the beginning with each new GM.
That's quite funny. I've actually seen a toon in game with a very rude word in Brazilian-Portuguese. The number of Brazilians on Sieghardt is quite high and I'm surprised that I still see him running about. What about LittleLesbian or w/e her name is - dwarf sitting in Giran day after day.
@Rapetout,

Funniest story I ever read. You made me roll of my chair with laughter reading it all. Mind you, I am not making a foul out of you.

But yeah, they most likely have a list of words that are flagged inappropriate to the rating of this game. If allowed it would become to high for their demographic player pole if words like R..e are seen in the game itself.

Same goes with too much blood displayed in-game. There was once this discussion about the bleed graphics of certain skills in this game.

Silly, really but they (NCSoft) have to follow rules set by some commission that instituted the film rating too. Guess that commission loves to play "Big Brother".
Example: Movies made for US movie theaters have per default less blood showing on the screen compared to the same movie issued to an European theater.

What about LittleLesbian or w/e her name is - dwarf sitting in Giran day after day.

Because there's no connotation of offense. She's a dwarf, she's short (obviously), the RL player might be a lesbian.... probably not, granted, but the possibility is there... but there's nothing patently offensive about the name...

... compared to "Rapetout" which seems to be pronounced, in English, as "***** Out".
Ironically, NCS isn't the only people who have issues with rapeseed.

There was a grass-roots campaign (no pun intended) in the US and Canada to have the name of the plant changed to something else.

In the end, they ended up calling rapeseed oil "Canola" (Canada + oil).
Dear Vicktor,

IF you ever wondered why it took 45 minutes to answer your second petition... Please see Rapetout's post above.

I can understand that it really bothered you that your name had to be changed. Unfortunately [censored] is a word that has to be changed. Even though your name was not in this context. Yes, if this was a more understanding world these "words" would not have to be changed.

Unfortunately this is the internet and some people feel they should "exercise their freedom of speech." Their "freedom" ruins it for everyone else.

It is too bad we have to change names like that. Unfortunately that part of support will never change.
I'd like to chime in and say that whenever I've had to /gm (and it's not a bot petition) I've never had any problems. It's never been completely to my liking, but hey, sometimes I have to understand that no, I can't have it all.

Not like I was asking for much. +20 is perfectly reasonable...

NCsoft censores one very useful plant?

Does anyone still remember how names of certain items (such as Bastard Sword) could not get through the language filter?

"WTB -_- sword" - sounded funny as hell :)
-_--_-in

was funnier.
Stick it in your 923!
Not my 923!!
I feel that this conversation has run its due course. :) All parties have had their say.
