Raid boss Curse exploit

General Discussion Started Last reply 25 posts
On Kain, there have been many people exploiting the "raid boss curse exploit", mainly at Ant queen and other bosses that are competed for.

What is happening is that Mages are getting raid cursed for shooting Archer players etc who can still SHOOT at them no problem raid cursed. Mages can not defend themselves otherwise they get raid cursed (Archer attacks the ants in AQ lair etc, to get raid curse, then pvps the mages there blah blah)

Simply put, What i wanna know is, is this a LEGIT strategy for pvp? We had this happen at other raid bosses that on purpose level 79 and 80's attacked the level 70 bosses etc to get the raid curse so we all got cursed and could not defend ourselves, bsoe or anything at all.

I kinda think its funny as i am mainly on my archer, but i wanna really know if its a Legit strategy or if it can be a suspendable exploit of game dynamics if they are doing it on purpose.
Waa Ferst
pretty bad that your trolling offical forum LB,

i think its pretty funny just others asked me to ask about it lol
Not sure how this could be possible in your description, but sounds kinda exploitey.

Afaik, raid curse happens when a overlvl mage casts beneficial magic on a char thats engaged on a boss, raid petrify occurs when any overlvl char hits a boss.

According to you, archers are firstly hitting a boss, without getting petrified, then pvping mages who become cursed for nuking back?

I think theres more going on....somehow, I've never heard of raid curse spreading in this manner.

I believe whats happening perhaps is the lvl 70 archer engaging boss, not getting curse (but counting as an engaged boss fighter), then pvping a lvl 80 nuker, then the nuker debuffs (surrender) which counts as a "overlvl buff/debuff on the boss fighter" thus causing the curse?

If so, then your nuker guys could avoid this happening by simply not using surrenders/debuffs on the enemy when PvPing near bosses....

So the "exploit" maybe is simply that debuffs count as buffs in game mechanics....

These forums can be a good source of humor at times with all the people cryign about getting PMs they dont want and so on.
A mage being cursed by a raid boss for attacking a player already attacking the raid boss is possible. I've seen it happen myself on another server me and a bunch of people went to and made a low level clan on. SPS came to attack our raid group after we killed thier alts trying to do the raid, and eventually the SPS got cursed. Didnt use AOE, just direct attacks on those attacking the raid boss.
Sounds like a huge programming flaw to me
yea this stuff only screwed things up even more.
You can get raid boss silenced just for buffing close to a raid boss without anyone even attacking it.
Yeah it was fun for 70+ SE running out of Ant nest silenced, because I stepped on the wrong place to buff my dwarf :)
wow that is horrible if it holds water.... how could this be happening for so long
Well i think it is some kind of a protection for the Raiders doin the Raid. Especially for low lvl Raidgroups that are ganked by higher lvl Raidbossfarmer-Chars.

And another thing, dont fight Chars in the back that are much lower then you while they are raiding, its childish and dishonorable. If you wanna fight for the Raid then do it before it starts and with chars on the right lvl.

see thats the thing.. at ant queen if its mage groups vs archer groups.. the archers will all attack the lower minions (ant guards) to get raid silenced so that when any bishop heals anyone attacking them like an archer, the bishop will get raid silenced/cursed. also any mages who attack will get it instantly also.

Guess u havnt been to ant queen much, u ahve to pvp to get it, at least on kain.
Chars will only get silenced/cursed if they are not within level of the raid boss and minions, no matter what the archers are doing. And the bishops and mages won't either unless they are within a certain range of the boss and minions....regardless of their level. I've often used a higher level buffer/recharger on lowbie raids, just gotta remember to stay back.

You might consider it an exploit that these archers are 'forcing' the curse on you but others might consider it an exploit that out of level chars are being used on the raid *shrugs* 6 of 1 half a dozen of the other.

If you know that these people are gonna cause you hassle at the raid take em out before they get that deep. Its not like the boss is right at the entrance and its easy enough to have guards stationed to watch for em.

You are wrong :p For our server, the farmers are log inside the Ant Nest fully buffed and ready to go when they log in. They log in around 30secs before the AQ spawns and logs off after they killed the boss (about 2mins to kill the AQ). I only see high level buffers running around and porting. So, I suppose all their 'killing RB toons' are near or at the location ready to go.

The farmer bishop doing the ally rez doesn't get the raid curse at all (since we killed/went red on all their toons). It only seems like nukers pvping gets the silence raid curse near the boss, but melee pvping near the boss does not petrified. Well even you get petrified, you can't get killed since you don't recieve any damages done to you.

As a result, why mages have to suffer from raid curses but not melees in a pvp situation?

Gotta be **** good to log in 30 seconds before a epic who has a variable respawn timer :p

Although I agree, the farmers who farm her, zaken and orphen all have characters logged out at the specific location just waiting to do it and only drag their high levels to protect/buff/dance/take care of minions.

I keep hopping the GM's will zap all of those accounts one of these days, since they were all leveled using 3rd party programs, even if they are all played "live" now.
If you exp near the AQ room you'll know why, there's always someone running around checking it constantly, old school Baium style with a target macro.

In fact you can do it from above in the wastelands anyway, you can target her from above ground. Just spam a target macro, when it catches her, have your farmer buddies log in.

Read his post though ;)

30 seconds *before* the spawn. I cant think of a major guild who attempts to do her who dosent have a character in the AQ room for just that purpose, but *before* she spawns, and shes a variable spawn time boss?

Thats some tricks right there. (The floor thing works with all bosses, Baium too. Heck you can hit Baium when your not even on his floor or..heh..% heal him :))
Oops yeah my bad.. BEFORE :/ I don't know how they would do that if it's variable.

two different entrys its not that easy to do.

Most clans do turn up when its spawned or a little before to fight over it blah blah.

the timer isnt exact so i doubt anyone does that 30 seconds b4 lol.

i always bring my sagi sub down and always get raid silenced when pvping its lame =/

the farmers even rerolled archers just for ant queen cos of raid curse... kinda funny

Wouldn't do that as it's a banneble offense as farmers have found out the hard way on Kain when they we're rezzing ppl through the floor when we pked them all.

Btw Ferst all sides do this on Kain, Barakiel is another such raidboss where this is done when one of the sides finds out their enemies are doin him so w/e it all balances out in the end.

That is what a clannie said after he observed them for a period of time, I believe. Well english is not his first language and possibly he meant 'after' not 'before' or maybe he was exaggerating it. Nevertheless, I wouldn't underestimate what farmers can do, since they do it every single day even on weekends (How many people works 7 days a week? I know the farmers do :p) They've been doing for at least more than 2 months on daily basis, there is a possibility that they have exploited the variables in spawn time; but who knows only they do.

Just some extra interesting information:
There is a book called: "Tien shu" in chinese. No idea what the english for it is. But in direct translation it means Book from the Sky (heaven). The anicent chinese used historical data to predict the weather, seeding days and which day is good for some specific activities and which day they ain't.

Quite an amazing book tbh, and I'm not a superstitious person (I'm more of a logical/rational person :p). However, if you compare the information they provide in that book; they are actually quite accurate (I'll say ~85% accurate) in the predictions.

Back to my point ;)
I believe basically everyone OE for their armor, weap and jewels. I found a way for my main toon to predict whether the OE or not 100% craft is going to success or not. Even thou it is not 100% accurate, but it works about 90% of the time (Don't pm me, because it works for me 'personally'. Discussed with other players, but it doesn't work that way for them :p).

In conclusion, some people might think it is 100% impossible for the farmers to know/predict the variable spawn times. However, imagine you are an experienced farmer that farms the bosses every single day. Will you record the data (like spawn time), so that you can predict whens the next spawn time? With months and months of daily basis data, is it really impossible for them to find a cycle or exploit to it (maybe that can be answered by NCsoft )?

Anyone who has really dealt with percentages in math knows its about the biggest... mm.. headache you can find, when you discuss it with those who havent went into it in that depth.

As to the answer, no you cant predict it. The variable time she spawns is too much to reliably predict within 30 seconds when she'll spawn, regardless of how many years she spawns.

30 seconds after is a regular thing however. (heck, I'd say almost 10 seconds after she spawns the farmers log in if they are "on the ball" as usual)

I wonder, is there any server where she and her other two low level friends are not the domain of farmers? Heck, even a "dead" server might be appealing if that was the case.
Where are all those AQ jewels when they kill her day by day? It should be few hundreds since it appeared.

I guess they are sitting in some mule toon warehouses waiting to be sold for few hundred mills. Hm.
Ant Queen does not drop 100%, Its more like 1 out of 4 or 5 tries.
