I just made my first mystic and so far I love it and Im planning on going SH but I have a few questions
1.Are there any spells I should avoid? So far I only got anti magic and ice and wind bolt. should I get curse poison?
The AoE spells for a Dark Wizard are useful if you to be in a pole party in D grade. Or if you herd Golems, but I can't say I've ever actually seen anybody doing that. Otherwise, you won't use them.
Regarding the servitor skills: if you plan on experimenting with going PS instead of SH, get the skills. Otherwise, there is no point in getting the servitor skills.
As I recall, I got all the Dark Wizard skills except for the servitor stuff.
Yes, and the time allowed between Summons is extremely long for Wizards of any race - 6 hours I think? Whatever the exact number of hours, there's just no reason to invest any SP in those skills unless you are considering making a Summoner class.

well, if youre a Wizard of the Elven or Human denomination, yes, PLEASE spend the SP in your MPregenning summon if you dont have an SE in tow. you'd be surprised how useful they are even with the long re-use time.
I haven't leveled the basic nukers very far (I'm sort of a melee type of guy)....my highest spellhowler is only c-grade in low 40's.
At least to that point you won't be summoning 'much'...you want passives and offensive spells because that's what you do.
Reasonable use of body-to-mind and good selection of mobs (one shot and susceptible to your attacks) will keep you grinding for long periods of time without resting....at least at lower levels.
Others will have to tell you what comes next as levels progress.
At higher levels, you will be 2-shotting. There are tons of good places for a SH, but I've noticed some of the gargoyle-type mobs are great money and XP.

Sigh... That was ages ago, up until C2 I believe. The re-use time on pre 40 summons is now either 1 hour or 1 hour + use time servitor. Which is pretty good for the MP regening summon and if you just want to do something different like aoe on your own for a bit.
I noticed that summon skills are good to have if you want to raise a pet, you can heal and recharge him excelently. Those skills are fast and quite good heals power 300+ heal... and very very fast.
Hoever since CT1 you can keep the pet on your tail and just kill and he will still level.... i guess there's no longer a point.
If you are going the SH route DO NOT spend any SP on the summon skills. Those skills are a complete waste for Spellhowlers and former Spelhowlers (AKA Storm Screamers).

Same can be said for anything related to poison (unless DoT's get some crazy revamp in CT1) or curse chaos.
No. If you go for pure lvling without wasting SP on skills take:
lvl 1-19
Take
-Wind strike (primary attack)
-Ice bolt (secondary attack)
-Shield (handy for +pdef)
-heal (use this normally )
-battle heal (must, life saviour)
-All weapon masteries, All armor masteries, all antimagic
Skip:
-Vampiric touch (consume too much mp, not needed)
-might (useless, you are not a melee)
-cure poison (useless, antidotes drop plenty)
-curse poison (does not enough dmg)
-group heal (you are not a healer)
-wind shackle (useless, waste of sp/mp)
lvl 20-39
Take:
-Heal (continue getting this)
-Battle heal (same as heal, keep getting)
-Concentration (self buff, to avoid interupt)
-Twister (Primary Attack!)
-Auraburn (Finish off skill, low mp consume)
-Body2mind (Must! drop HP for MP)
-Corpselifedrain (To get back lost HP from body2mind)
-Shadowspark (Overhit skill, mostly Secondary attack!)
-all passive masteries for armor/weapon/antimagic/fastercasting/HP,mp,skill.recovery.
-Mana gain can be left out unless you got a high lvl SE recharging you.
-Sleep (as a life saviour, slow cast but helps often.)
Skip:
-Windshackle (as stated at lvl 1-19)
-Poison (same as above)
-Poisoncloud (useless, not needed)
-Surrender to Poison (useless, not needed)
-Flamestrike (lirein leveling is so openbeta/C1, not needed).
-ALL summon skills like said above. It's plain USELESS unless you intend to go summoner at lvl 40+.
That is all. Continue to lvl to 40, become Spellhowler and get some serious skills.
Helepol1s thanks so much, your advice is very usefull ;] my experience with L2 is a little bit smaller than with playing minigolf on deep ocean ;] TY once more
Everybody learns over time, I learned my way also. I started as Dark mage in Openbeta Lionna. I restarted after Teon became live again as Dark mage, and learned to avoid useless skills.

I like to get curse chaos, because it's an easy way to help lowbies level. You can use it to agro mobs onto you, while they deal out the damage. They seem to level a lot faster this way, and don't die as much :)
I don't get why you would use Curse chaos on mobs to let other people level. A mage, especially Darkwiz/SH, can easy 2-shot mobs around his level. It is like impossible to die unless you shoot magic among 20 mobs who are all social.
Curse chaos is a useless skill in PVE and in PVP it is only useful to debuff archers who try to hit other archers/daggers.
I prefer it to plvl new characters. It's a lot quicker in my experience to curse chaos 30-40 keltyrs and let a guy go to work on them. Don't party the guy so he gets full experience and he levels a lot faster. I find this works until about level 20. I've used this tactic for about 2 years and it is the fastest way to get a guy from 0-20.
It's also a good tool for teaching noobies the battle system. Not that it's a tough system, but they can get comfortable with the format without the pain of dying a lot.
No, but keltirs are obviously where you start. There is more than one way to skin a cat. By reading your posts I can already conclude you are one of the 1337 gamers, who only believe it's their way or you're just an idiot. I have my philosophy for power leveling. Based on the time frames you provided, I would venture to say that the way I do it is just as successful as the way you do it (and requires a lot less people).
My strategy is designed for helping new players. It does no good to power level a new player from 1-40. They don't learn the basics of the game and have to rely on other people far longer than they would normally have to.
I prefer my method of power leveling beginners over partying. It doesn't mean I'm right and your wrong, just means there is more than one philosophy that works well.
Philosophy you talk about and you mark quickly someone for 1337 gamer just because he/she does not agree with your style.
Look pobby, I played Dark elf mage since Open Beta an still playing it. You totally avoided the point, you don't level till lvl 20 on keltirs and also mages dont die unless you run into mobs.
Want to let someone learn the game? In my opinnion give him advice or tactics. Not holding his hand by agroing mobs so he shoots them like sitting ducks. What you are doing is almost the same as powerlvling someone. That person won't learn how to react in multi-agro or kiting mobs or using various skills in time.
Everybody has its right and wrongs and methods. But there is also something like common sence and logic thinking.
I think the problem is, you obviously have an interpretation problem. Can you point out where I said I level guys on keltirs until level 20. Please develop a better grasp of the english language before trying to insinuate something that is not there.
Secondly, I fail to see how a mage's ability to one or two shot mobs has any bearing on power leveling.
Thirdly, the method is designed to help individuals adjust to the battle system in lineage. While it is similar to most other MMO's, there are differences in every game. The system helps these players adjust to those differences. Plvling to 20 only takes 2-3 hours at max anyways, so it isn't a tremendous amount of "hand holding" as you like to call it.
Do me a favor. Before you try to make a fool out of someone. Try attaining a few comprehension skills. Do not try to insinuate a connection that obviously is not present. Lastly, from reading your responses to me, your final paragraph is like the pot calling the kettle black. You can PM me if you need help figuring out that old cliche. I come here trying to provide feedback and differing opinions. Obviously some poeple have a problem with ideologies that differ from their own.
Actually, Jaeh, I went back and re-read your post, and it reads like you are saying you use keltirs until level 20. Although I suspect that's not what you meant. What I am curious about is what you mean by teaching the battle system of L2 by this method. I'm not arguing it yet, just saying at this point ..... I'm at the least missing something.

English is not my native language but by reading this I conclude that you are obviously stating you level someone on keltirs to lvl 20.
And yet again you avoided my entire point by spinning around the subject.
1) You don't learn someone the battle system by agroing mobs for someone so he can peacefully get xp. It is the same way of hand holding. Like Oldfart said: Feel free to explain more detailed, cause obviously I do not understand it either.
2) I didn't called it "tremendous" powerlvling, I called it: it is almost same as powerleveling someone. So who is making up things which are not present ?
And I didn't insult you, you are the one talking about my english. You simply do not accept critics given from other people on your method. I neither force you into anything or called you names for using your method. I just said that method is in my opinnion not the best.

I agree with a lot of this, but we dont get heal/battle heal past lvl 16.
and I would argue that vamp touch is a very necessary skill (can heal yourself and kill a mob at the same time in "OH, -_-" situations) as is Greater mana gain as that passive increases the amount of MP you regain from dropped pots.
