Okay so we all are getting the annoying pm's. Its making me mental... Is there anything Nc soft is doing to stop these soulless from pming everyone on every server??
If you don't report them then you have no right to complain.
I'd say that you do have a right to complain as these PMs break the mechanics of the game by exceeding the length of a message that should be able to be sent. Thus they should be preventable by coding.
It seems to depend on where you are. I have an alt seller in a more remote town that never gets them. Whereas if I am in Giran selling I get them all the time. I assume they have a toon that records the names of characters in it's vicinity and this is what's used to create the list of lucky people to receive the messages.
Actually, they do seem to be doing something about it. If you look at the names of the pmers, you will see that it is different each time. However, I would be more proactive if I were NCsoft. I would only allow a certain number of pms in a short amount of time. If you exceed that number, you are chat banned and auto-reported to GMs.
Yes MrT, I would also suggest a filter in the server which would check PMs for such things as the .com site which sells the adena. Any PM containing that site name would be blocked.
I have gotten PMs from the same toon more than once. If I was gonna take them up on their offer, one PM would suffice. I know their programs are probably not sophisticated enough, to log who has been spammed, and not spam that person again, and they probably don't care either.
Does it even matter if you report them ?? You get pm from different toon within 5 minutes.
2 words : IP BAN
IP Banning is the least effective way to ban someone, especially since most any broadband service provider assigns dynamic IPs, and using a proxy server takes mere seconds to reroute or reassign another IP.
Unless, of course, you wanted to ban all, say, AOL IPs or Qwest IPs... but, then, that's probably half the playerbase.
I even get these PMs on my boxed buffer, who's definitely not saying anything to anyone, except in PMs, but definitely not in shout. I think it's just a matter of having been near one of their "agents" that gather a database of toon names to PM.

The scrubs are sending you lots of PMs? There's nothing "dangerous" in it! Can they do something more "dangerous"? NO!
Just don't read the PMs and put your eyes in the game. In Brazillian MMORPGs, there are a lot of cheaters who uses illegal programs to do any kind of cheat, and usually nobody does a thing...
I dont care what the hell NC soft does i want it stopped. Last night alone i had my alt in giran selling not shouting just selling and she had 5 NEW people pm her. Thats now 30 random toons on my block list. And to try and ignore it is impossible. I see the purple on my scream and its almost as if a midget is jumping on my last nerve....
I say we start a campaign!! Go to their annoying advertising site, sign up for an account on their support help menu, and then just mail them I'm annoyed letters, please stop the spam. And then use their live online support person to complain about the annoyance of getting the pms in game. By tying up their service with annoying complaints it might prove to them how much we are annoyed with them. :P Just an idea.

Stick around in popular places and you will get a PM eventually.
Frankly be glad you do not get them. I find the PM's annoying as hell and an insult to boost.
If I had my way I would crucify the PM'er Roman style.
