Hi fellow elves and elvettes... 30 scout here and wanted to ask some seasoned PW some questions about heading into 40+.
1. Pre-40 dagger use: I was using a shadow Kukuri, but I find that using my skill "Mortal Blows", it doesn't land very often (I'm in Cruma Swamp killing pink slugs and ants) , and I end up wasting mp.
Since I used my last shadow weap, I tried using a +3 D duals (with vicious stance toggle) and found I lasted longer (hp wise) and my killing rate seem to be faster.
Do I wanna keep using my D-duals or break the bank and buy a mith dagger? (Seems to me that the skills even at 20 aren't all that and better to level faster using the d-duals even though I don't get masteries).
2. Armor: This question is more geared to being c-grade sets, where mith has +4 eva and theca has pdef 5.24%. The clan oath armor seems to me it has some nice bonus (pdef 5% and +3 evasion). Even though the basic pdef is lower being d-grade and all, but considering the bonus has anyone used it throughout c-grade?
Having fun with my elfette scout and looking forward to "back stabbing" soon...
Dagger is better than duals, but try to hunt white mobs. You'll miss less and your stabs will land more.
For C-grade armor, the king is Plated leather armor that give +4STR -1CON. Best armor ever for C-grade, though it's expensive and hard to get. Theca and Drake is good too, but only because it has more pdef. But killing speed is better if you can survive the area with no downtime.
Dagger, always, focus dagger in C/B+ grade for pve is most ppl's favorite. I've heard crit dmg ends up beeing similar thou i fail to see this.
As for armors, theca is the cheapest choice, plated is hard to get and unless you've struck it rich adena wise, go theca.
For B grade doom light unquestionable, but a valid choice as it is considerably cheaper is Zubei Light.
A grade... well.. let's stop, we'll talk when you're concerned with it.
I hope you enjoy your PW, I know I'm enjoying mine (no, not that way :o). :)
After lvl 60 in CT1 it will be better to go with crit damage, as PW's are getting another crit chance passive. The extra crit from a focus weapon is going to be overkill.
Thanks for the input... I'm currently 40% into31... using Brig armor and +3 dduals... Not conventional, but I do seem to last longer compared to my previous set up of Manti + shadow mith dagger...
When I hit C, i'll definitely switch to a dagger (don't know which since I'm low in funds) and probably try to OE clan oath armor (again b/c of lack of funds)....
If you have any other tips, tricks, inside info spill your guts away...
I've went from 40 mil, to almost 0 adena, back up to 40mil, like, 3 times from OEing. **** I'm a crazy bastard. Never could break that 40mil mark >.<
For me, I do have manti top and bottom, but I also had a brig top/bottom. Since I don't have manti boots, the set bonus wasn't a factor. Therefore, I choose pdef (which I get about 40+ versus the manti even with light armor masteries).
I saw some daggers in heavy until B grade or more 56??), why on earth would you do that? :|
some heavy sets are better then light sets. Tallum is a good example.
Look:
C grade- Pl set, crystal dagger crt dmg.
B grade- Pl set, Doom/Blue wolf helmet/gloves, Kris +3 or more focus.
A grade- dark crystal set, +4 Maj jewelry set, Naga storm focus for PvE, S(soul)S(seperator) +6 or more crt dmg for PvP.
tattoo's go head and get +4 str right off the bat at 40. I personally don't believe that dex for PvE isn't as worth wild as the + str...specially for PW that already has low STR.
Personally I waited till 46 to get tattoo's, cause I want to make sure I had enough HP to survive PvE. also try not to pk any one (get a augment on your dagger), BS and DB can do skill crts, and lethal strikes. which at 40-52 can 1 shot robes. the Major problem with PW is their stabs don't get powerful till they hit 56, thats kind of the turning point for PW.
