Dark Elf Classes Started Last reply 54 posts
Calling all my fellow AW out there. I was reviewing the the Dark elf fighter forums and I felt there needed to be a spot for the AW's

A few things I would like to discuss is gear and pvp tatics.
I rerolled from Destro so the class is awsome but still getting use to all the new abilities of the class. Love the class btw.

I am now 61 and have NN light and a soul sep with crit dmg.
I did have a +5 BO with focus but the mobs tore me a new one ever time since I would crit 9 times in a row and trick or even veil didnt help in these situtations. Just wanted to get some feed back on how other AW played and there play styles. Positive feed back is the best thanks

You complain about critting too much with the BO? Hehe, IMO for PvE Focus dagger is the way to go for AW since they don't get critical chance passives like the other daggers..

My AW is only 56 atm, I use Doom with Kris Focus and +5 STR and it works for me. I use Trick to interrupt mob skills like stun and magic spells, works like 95% of the time and I use stabs on high HP mobs instead of Hex, trying for that Leathal strike proc. I sometimes XP with a Bow as well if the party require it, works ok.

I'll keep the dye setup for a long time, all the way until 77 at least, if I get that far I'll change to something more PVP oriented. Got a +7 BO Focus waiting for me, can't wait to try it out! :)
Im playing a 61 AW with Maj light and +6 soul seppie. I just like the soul seppie look too much to have a bo =)
And running Maj for all the small scale pvp that happens all the time at Franz. Since I cannot afford a PvE set. And I enjoy pvp :)

Had +4 str +4 dex since lvl 40.
Planning on changing into pvp oritented around 77 like Mulch.
Probably wont happen for a while though, since I have alot of studying.. :P

Good suggestion about the trick thing for mobs Mulch, never really thought about it, since it kinda wastes mana ;) rather use it all for deadly blows (lethals).
Trying to always hunt green mobs since the lethals land almost all the time against those.

Found the perfect ToI trio with a SE, BD and DA, running real smooth and good xp up there at 4th floor. Using Hex, lethal lands too seldom to be worth it imo.
Also gonna try out soloing a cata with another SE I know, havent come to that yet. <3 evasion..
There sure arent many AWs out there... (:
Not on this forum, try the Guro for some great tips too :)
Would go there and look as well, but the amazingly useless GameGuard locks down Firefox.........
Focus for PvE all the way. I currently have a +13 BO /focus and it works great. NM light is the way to go for PvE if you have access to a WC or SE. Vamp Rage allows me to tank equal con mobs w/ no down time. The crits and quick attack speed are more than enough to replenish the health i use... most of the time. +4Str, +5Dex, -9Con for PvE.

For PvP (imo) a good setup is AS or SSep w/ CD. Maj for the stun resist and -9str, +5dex, +4con seems to work well.
I'm considering NM light for 61+, I can probably borrow a set to see how well it works. Currently I can survive with VR2+PP 60 only if I have a BD in tow, the extra +3% VR effect will probably be enough to survive well into my 70s.

I almost upgraded my +7 BO to +10 yesterday, until I heard the price he wanted... someone was shouting in town, and wanted 850M for it on Lionna! I almost rofl IRL.. +7 BO on Lionna is around 200M, yeah 650M maybe, but I guess some n00b will come and pay 650M more for 10% more DPS compared to a +7..

PS. GameGuard sucks! Firefox gets locked down with me as well, but sometimes it works. I think it's because I start Firefox BEFORE I start L2, at least that's worked a couple times.. :I
Hey, question...

The runspeed buff at Blinding Blow.
Whats the cooldown on the stab itself?
Do you get the speed buff every time you do the stab?
How long are you buffed with the +40 speed?
AFAIK, you're buffed for 15 seconds. Also you don't need to land the blow, just make it and you always gt the self buff. As for the cooldown... it's longer then a normal stab but not that long, quick enough for me (at least as far as i remember from C5 PTS :p).
play l2 for such a long time and never rly saw this AW thread.
Hi to all AW´s/ GH´s :)

(I am open for all questions about the best daggerclass ingame ;)
start by telling us why u think aw is the best dagger class :)
And telling me if you can use the speed stab within those 15 seconds of speed buff? ^^
Speed stab? No, you can't use the speed tab within the time of the buff, that much i know for certain. The cool down of the Blinding Blow is longer then 15 seconds.
With proper buffs and stuff does it become lower then 15 seconds? Or isn't it affected? That's what I would like to know.
i dont get it. so what? even if a gm comes in and changes your atk speed to 2k and blinding blow refreshes faster than the buff duration. so what? if u do it again u ll just overwrite the blinding blow buff with a new one. so whats the deal?
The deal is... You wouldnt lose your speed, you would keep running at fast ++, and thats evil. And another point being you would be able to use your 3rd stab pretty often for dmg as well.
Question... Someone mentioned bows for lvling a AW, why and is it that effective?
Currently I'm using a +16 BoP CS and it's AWESOME! Bows are good because you don't need to run so much and if you crit you will one shot the mob. Of course this is in open fields not catas, haven't tried that yet.

And you can be in archer parties.

It's a pain to only carry enough shots and arrows for an hour or two of hunting though, looking forward to A-grade so I can use my +7 BO Focus that has 2x carry capacity augment, rocks! :p

Currently I'm using a +16 BoP CS and it's AWESOME!

OMG !!!!

even with two handed mage staff +16 it will be awesome
lol don't think so ^^

For the record, I'm borrowing the bow and 2k+ patk with only a BD and PP is sweet at level 59 with just about no bow masteries ^^
Woo back after 5-6 months or so.. Anyways I am lvl 70 and use a +0 SS with crt. dmg, Majestic light and got no problems leveling with basic 58 prophet buffs/clan hall buffs. mixture.
I dont rly get why any AW should xp with a bow o.O
You "can" do it thats for sure but you dont hit as hard as archers in pve. With 78+ and focus death ,you pretty much do archer dmg if you hit your enemy in the back.
I kill a lot of ppl that turn around to run cause i put up focus death and crit them for like 2k+ in the back with a bow. But for pve, daggers are nice if they use a dagger :p
Did 59 to 60 in 4.5 hours with that bow, PP+BD buffs outside.. think that was pretty ok ^^ Bows are just overpowered.. I use my BO now though after I hit 61, not sure if it's as fast.
Heres a question since my AW has all skills maxed for his 45 lvl. Can you make stun shot better when your 70+ so it will actually be decent enough to use in pvp on a AW or am i just just dreaming? I'm asking about the skill enchant thing you guys&girls can do at high lvl.
Since AWs specialise in daggers, they won't get any more bow skills after level 40.

I've never done any spell-enchanting before, but even if you could enchant your Stun Shot at higher levels, it will still be rubbish since it's such a low-level skill. (Level 3 will be your max, which I believe you get at Level 36.)

However, AWs can be good with bows at higher levels when their enemy has their back turned. Just don't use any skills with the bow. :)
They do good because they have high STR.. they will still have lower range and missing about 900ish patk from masteries at 78.. but as the guy above me said, from behind nobody crits as hard with a bow as an AW ^^
thats true
Stun Shot lvl 3 lands often
that can be useful in many occasions (PvP/PvE)
Thanks always wondered if training all skills was really worth it or not.

Since on Hinde it seems Drake is a rare armor on a DE which B grade light is gonna be rare. I'm planning on buying Avadon or Zubie and i can't stand BW on them so that's not an option unless it's heavy.

If this info is posted somewhere just let me know so i can check it out thanks.

I doubt you'll have any problems finding either of the 4 light armors (doom, bw, Zubei and avadon.) If anything I'd go with Zubei as it is pretty cheap and you'll level to 61 in no time.

Me personally I had my Tyrants old BW light set so I had the money to have 2 armors which were Zubei and BW. Zubei is nice for the evasion bonus of course, but most go with Doom light, though, I'm no fan of -CON on my AW.
Yep i'm not into lowering any stats. I'll go with what looks good before i drop stats on my toons .

What other special ability on our daggers is good to use since i use focus daggers now on my OL i'd like to get a dagger with a different SA to try out on my AW.

Hindemeth Clan Bloodlust
-12 CON on my AW sub :P

What makes it playable is that I don't hunt stun mobs, and my Augment increases weight limit 2x :)

my Augment increases weight limit 2x :)

Do you happen to remember what LS you used for this augment?
regular ones
Augments are random so just gotta get lucky. I deleted what i had on my dark screamer since it seemed useless ,plus it prevents me from using same weapons on my Ol and AW so i consider them great for Pker's only since you can't drop or trade weapons after that augment.

full + STR, +WIT, DC light and BO, or good luck exping after 67 -68 without focus... NM is an useless armor, and soulsep is bad for pve and does'nt need to be enchanted for pvp, just put CD on it and stab people with it, that's the only way to go.

Normal level 76.
Hello , does anybody know if Crit rate affects landing of skills on mobs and players?
Nope, it does not.
Hi pplz I wanted to sub a dagger and im having a hard time deciding between AW and TH. can you guys fill me in on the pros and cons?
Come on now you don't need pros and Con this been going on for 4 years now. TH best dagger period.
go PW. balanced cp/hp, great run speed, atk speed, evasion, very good dmg (focus death), and gonna be uber in the next patch with that 74 passive stun or wte.
I have a PW and I love my PW but If I could make it a TH and still look like a PW I would. ;)

I try make a TH I Just don't like the look of Humans which is why I don't have not 1 Human on my account.

True
I found a interesting post on [censored] about which is a better dagger and 70% ppl say PW>AW>TH

Quote from Kaganpwnz

"who can he kill if u cant land ur skills? focus death > mirage"

My main is a PR thats why I asked aw or th
Sure, if you leave a dagger alone, aw/pw will do more dmg from behind than a TH.

But there are far more aspects than just that case.
Well if your a PR sub TH like alot do and get that fake death skill some people like .

Mix it up unless you wanna stay straight DE race.

Nope, it does not.

(This was a response to: does crit rate effect landing rate of skills on mobs or players.)

Do you have any source to verify this? The reason I ask - I have noticed time and again that whenever I get that Crit rate herb/buff, I begin landing my blows at a much higher rate. So I have suspected while leveling up that landing rate of those moves is dependent on crit rate.

I gotta tell you - at least from level 1 to level 47, TH sure doesn't feel like anything special. In fact it feels like a deeply flawed and underpowered class lol. I'm sticking with it because everyone says it will bloom late.. but seriously. With my rate of landing moves, I think a tank can outdamage me. And I'm in plated leather with a +4 screamer with focus. So it's not uber gear but it's not like it's gimp gear either. My DPS is very low due to missing almost everything all of the time, and extremely low attack speed when not buffed for haste.

yea your low level now. In C1 and C2 you saw AW everywhere. But a few stuck with they TH and end up being the envy of every dagger at 70+

Now when you look around what do you see TH everywhere or some one Subing TH. :D
Ghost dunno if you know this or not but your stabs land more from the back/side

Ghost dunno if you know this or not but your stabs land more from the back/side

Yeah I seem to land about 1 out of 3 or 1 out of 4 from the back. I don't even bother to push the button when front-facing, because the odds of the attack landing are so small that it's not worth it. (Unless I get the pretty Dagger Mastery buff, in which case I try since it's so cheap.)

I mean, these moves land so infrequently that sometimes I wonder why they were even given to me. =/
As I said in the human section, if your naturally unlucky, you shouldn't play a dagger.
What Ive experienced as a dagger is the blows seem to land much less in the lower levels, this can be because of a few factors. But to increase the landrate try to always hit green mobs, the "lethal strike" will have a higher chance to land, and you do not need the stab itself to land for a lethal strike to occur. Just hang in there, and it will be better, at least seem better. :)

Yes, Im certain crit rate has nothing to do with stab landings, I dont have any specific numbers on it, but almost 3 years playing has told me that. :P
