Tyrant : the HP or the Critical way

Tyrant Over 70.
In your opinion which way can be the better one to maximize the Tyrant quality.
All included, weaps, dye, boss jews..

Pls don't increase your counter whit an answer like "depend on your playstyle.."
it really does depend on play style.

some people use bison, others use bear. both have their uses. both require different setups.

bison:

bison totem up, get as many haste buffs, and crit dmg buffs as u can. patk will be relatively minusucle numbers in terms of buffs boosts. after 76, get baium ring, antqueen ring, zaken. valakas is nice, but not necessary. Health weapon (or haste - haste if you have a LIVE buffer all the time, Health if you have a boxed buffer all the time). i wouldnt dream of tattooing my tyrant, each point of Con really does mean the difference between life and death both in pve and pvp. if you HAVE to tattoo, go -2str +5dex, -3con but then youre in for a ROUGH ride in pvp. armor is easy: A gr can be DClight but some choose NM for extra Mdef, in S draconic works very well.

Bear is the same setup just with SWS always in party for Hunter/runspeed. this method doesnt really work easily because you also need the BD dance of fury to make the tyrant useful in ranged pvp at all.

your blaster crits based on your STR value not the dex value. boosting STR to +9 via PL and +5 tattoos yields little more than 30% boost to crit rate of these skills (as indicated by blah). not very easy to depend on a blaster crit to kill your enemies in pvp. even fully buffed the skill doesn cool down fast enough.
+9Str? i though you could only have a total of +5 added to original stats, otherwise the extra +'s have no value. if im wrong, i would be glad to know that. :)
You can have only +5 from tattoos, hence why Spud is suggesting PL set and +5 STR tattoos. That makes for a total of +9.
Got a bit different grasp on your questions probably because you can play tyrant in so many ways. Part of the charm of a Tyrant imo ^^

First off you should probably get your hands on a homu w/ conversion and a rsk. haste dagger to optimize your bision and zealot. Also don't know if you are talking strictly pvp or pve, but in general I would not advice to +dex, as what it adds doesn't matter much imo when meassuring it up against + str or + con.

I did 72-76 with "pvp setup" +4 str - 9 dex + 5 con and it worked very well for pve. The minus run spd. can scare of some but for pve got force blast to pull and spent most time at decent spawn areas. DC/Nm light is a good choice for armor, some might go Tal heavy but mostly worth it from 61-72 and if you have SE buffer, otherwise its a nono. DG health is the weapon to use, for proper damage and hp to fuel the 30% or 60% Bison and of course pvp.

76 + = draconic and the before mentioned dyes setup for sure. A lot of discussions in different threads concerning -9 dex if it makes u unabled to catch up to targets in pvp, but people swear its feasible. Demon Splinters health again imo. Spud does make a good point with haste in case of live healer for pve (I assume, sorry if wrong). I would still reckon more health will serve you better for crazy bison mode, particularly if hardcore exping you will be doing 30% bison and the more health to fall back on, the better.

Baium/Anthy Ear would be the best 2 boss jew to get if pveing imo though for pvp would probably be Baium/AQ->Vala->Zaken->Anthy Ear.

A lot of this said could definately be changed though, depending on what buffers you have avaiable and if you are talking pve, pvp or a mix.
yeah if there was ever a class to go -dex it would be tyrant
you get insane runspeed and attack speed regardless of your dex and since fists have high accuracy and your crits come from skills you basically have no need for it
Gladis seem to do well with -dex too ;)
So --

Would +4 STR / +4 CON / - 8 DEX be a viable tattoo set-up for a tyrant in DC light with DG (health) for PVP and PVE? The -8 DEX seems painful, but the overall damage is better with more skill-crit rate and HP, two vital factors for winning PVP.

And if I were to try to do the Bison/Zealot at 30% HP leveling strategy would I run into problems staying under 30% with the above gear/tattoo set-up? I've got access to VR4 but I'd imagine I should not use it because I'd gain too much HP back, though without it I'd think I'd be constantly losing HP.
Tbh you will hardly notice the -8 dex when xping in light. In pvp, your totems will do the job for you. And yeah, you summed it up pretty well.

About 30% Bison exping you can do it with either a good healer or with VR (as you mentioned you got). With either of those you can go crazy as duo in woa (bandersnatch slaves 14k xp in duo), varka and even ToI 10/11. If doing any of those duos though you probably want EE or a SE as their 'lower heal' compared to other classes is good to not over heal you. Either of those helps with avoiding going crazy with pots in case of "oh [censored]" crits from mobs. WC still works good 'cause of their buffs, just be alert for said crits or stuns and have pots ready. Crit streaks by mobs, lag and stuns will be your biggest issues, so I hope (don't mean this in a bad way btw) that your support is not boxed.

The matter of staying underneath 30% should be compensated by where you xp or extra pulling. Zealot is more of a bonus imo where you can go on total killing spree or have it handy in case of extra aggro if exping in a hot spot.

Expect some dirt naps first before finding the balance of using pots, aggro etc. But imo the killing speed you gain/xp more than compensate for the loss. Plus, its **** fun ^^

Last thing, if you can get your hands on a Soes Btb, its worth it. Makes 30% exping much safer.
Edit: cause I am ******ed at spelling atm
I should mention that my buffs come from my CH in Rune, so I've got access to all buffs except focus3/dw3, and of course the somewhat more obscure ones like resists and prophecies. Problem with this is that I gotta go back to CH every 20 minutes for buffs, which makes soloing in deeper areas somewhat of an inconvenience.

One of my clannies subbed destroyer, and he's got a boxed prophet, SE, and BD (all on separate accounts) so he and I may try rocking out the XP table with bison/frenzy. Most of my clannies have boxed support classes, some of which have even subbed them so, we'll see.

Meanwhile, are there any good strategies for leveling until I get bison? I'm only lvl 42 at the moment so I've only got bear and puma, fist fury and the AoE skill (force burst?) at 43. I've heard that bear gives the best damage-per-second and you can negate the time of getting from mob to mob by using force buster. I seem to prefer puma because I can get from mob to mob efficiently, use a force buster on random distant mobs.

And I've read something about being able to round-up a hefty train of mobs and being able to drop them with two (maybe three?) AoE force bursts. Is this particularly effective/better than just traditional soloing?

EDIT: conversely, should I go +4 STR / +4 DEX / -8 CON until the mid 60s when I'll start PVPing and messing with bison?

1. go to pavel ruins, level in the ruins till 48 or as high as 50, then go to the Archaic Lab just SouthEast of there for 50-54, frozen lab works for 55-60, after that try to stick close to clan mates cause sure enough someone will try to zerg you while youre exp'ing. allways happens to A graders.

2. not until you get Force Storm (which is long ranged). at 48 or so. but yes this works if you stick to training 1x aggro white/green mobs and popping bison before you use the Storm, kite a bit more, and do it a second time to finish a train as big as 30 if you know what youre doing. Patk directly affects VASTLY the amount of damage you do using these skills.
I put +4 STR / -4 CON on for now, till I get into my 60s at least (at which point I'll switch to +4 STR / -4 DEX?). Since I won't have bison until the late 60s, is that AoE strategy worth using without it? Or should I just keep up with the traditional solo for now?

traditional solo is very expensive. solo aoe is very intensely hard to do properly as you require full knowledge of what is/isnt aggro, how many to pull, and thorough quickness in the proper use of wolf/bear. i would say wait until the Force storm, learn how it works vs a single mob, learn its cast speed and power, THEN try to continuous train. it is an unpopular way to level because it is dependent on there not being too many people around to drop the train on accidentally as well.

Bear....passed level 68...lawl...

Tyrant in bison doesnt need healing fighting mobs his lvl.

Dex is useless passed lvl 68, bison already gives you 450+ crit rating (480 for me, with focus 3). Go for str, since half your hits are crits. my GK also has health weapon, to get hp for bison (2,7k for 30% bison here). Also have BTB SA on my warcryer's soes, for some more hp, again.

armor is easy: A gr can be DClight but some choose NM for extra Mdef, in S draconic works very well.

Tyrant isnt made for open field pvp, its good for cata pvp, inside castles, ganks, olympiads.
tell ya what, you play your tyrant the cookie cutter way, ill play mine the way nobody else does. and i will teach people how NOT to be a cookie cutter.

fair? good.
I went +5 Dex -5 con and doom armor on my Tryant and I have yet meet my match in pvp and pve the mobs don't spawn fast enough. in fact the only time I got own on PTS was an A grade SR that had a Bishop spaming heals 2 keep her alive while I was using every skill I had if not for the bishop she would went down also.......I will be making a tryant on live ;)

Tryant is a very good class but it does take skill to use one It's not just point and shoot like Archer class hee hee
Yes tyrant takes lots of skill its not an easy class to use but once you know what your doing your one of the baddest out there also if you wnat the keep you hp under 30% get rsk hast fist and keep fist fury on all they time while having vr3+ on and a supply of elixers for those emergencys and ghp and as everyone says its depedning on playstlye

there are setups for speed/power

speed/hp

power/hp
power/speed
power+speed/hp
etc...
k, I'm 66 Tyrant now, have DC light and BT Focus, only using a PP to buff me and eventually throw in some heals when necessary. Tats +4STR -4 DEX

I'm getting nice xp on 1*hp mobs, real fast kills by using Puma totem and fist fury all the time, also zerk buffed. Altho I try to hunt spots that drops herbs (herb of recovery is wonderful). for now I have no use to go down to 30% hp and use zealot imo.

If I have the chance to party an SE, I go cata and use bear most of the time, stand in the middle of the room, pull the mobs towards me with Force blaster and kill without loosing too much hp, gonna need to find some harde ones, hate to wait in the middle of the room for respawns :s

in 2 lvls I'll have to explore what I can do. never played a tyrant 68+ so that will be fun, I hope :p
its.... very.... addicting.

crits are like crack. eventually you OverDose on a raid. you get eye twitchies, and you bust keyboards right left and center seeing your 9crit chain put 30k damage in a blink of an eye.

eventually youll get greedy and just go crazy farming rings of baium with clannies. then you end up raiding every boss you can find that drops head accessories, and finally you end up making elves feel inadequate as you evade every shot and stun and burn through them in pvp like cake; crippling and stunning and spamming swings... endlessly...

until in desperation your enemies all begin to bsoe at your presence.

its all downhill from here.
or they just call a gladi to come kill you :P

or they just call a gladi to come kill you :P

Yeah a gladiator will not run from a tyrant, they will fight, and it will be a short fight unless they have cp pots/ghp, although it'll stil be short. They are too dangerous, it will be a fierce battle, they should make it so when GK's and Duelists are spamming 78 force/sonic nukes, they have a chance to collide and make huge explosions severly injurying anyone in the way.
force explosions that would be pretty sweet lol
