It's almost sub time, and I'm still contemplating my choices and which would be better for me. Since I still <3 my WL, I'm not planning on making a sub to pvp or powerlevel with, but one that's fun and able to pull in some cash. Bounty Hunter is high on my list, since I'll be able to use my armor and weapon on both classes should I ever get the BH up to that level.
I was wondering, though. Do BH's earn that much more money than other classes? A lot of BH's I've spoken to are usually a bit emo about their income, and will tell me that classes who are able to solo more efficiently or kill faster are able to earn more cash from regular drops.
I guess I should mention that I don't own a buffbox and don't plan on getting one, should it matter.
Also curious, since BH's get the +20 inventory/storage slots, what would happen if I fill up the 120/120 warehouse slots on my BH, and switch to my main? (Assuming neither class has any fishing upgrades)
I'd kinda assume it just goes 120/100 and I can't put anything in until I take 21 items out.
It all depends on what you spoil. If you are aiming to make money with key mats, that really won't make you much. Drop rate is slow and the market is flooded usually. Rare items will of course net you big adena, but those are . . . well, rare.
Aiming for materials will do you better. Try to get into rift and cata groups. For the most part, maximizing you profit is planning well ahead using drop rates at other sites. Plan where you want to be at every level.
There are a few recipe spoils worth going after.

It will still say 120/120 on your WL. However, lets say you are at 101/120. On your BH sub you can take and put stuff in. On your WL class, you would be able to take out, but not put anything else in.

I have 126 slot on my main WH and 100 on my sub.
If my WH is full on my main I can still change to my sub. On my sub I can take out stuff from my WH and also add in it stackable item that are allready in but can't add anything else off course.
i make more adena per day than the average dorf
any BH that makes more than me is prolly in a 5-9 man group hunting some place with crap xp but awesome spoils but at the end of the day the other ppl in party will be earning just as much as him
If you like the thought of hunting solo for goodies then BH would be fantastic... but you don't box a buffer.
If you like groups... don't hold your breath. We're chosen for groups like the fat kid on the kickball team... last.
On the up side, we can solo very effectively and can survive most level appropriate mobs en masse. Probably one of the most effecient solo classes in game... it's a lonely class.
I make money selling shots on my WS. Then give it to the BH. If you don't have buffs, you will not be able to pole. In fact most white mobs will kill you if you are unbuffed.
I don't sell mats, so I actually prolly did make a lot of money. I spend a lot of time in cats. So when I was in apostate/aesthetics, I had tons of bones/enria. In matrys, I got so many BO parts/metallic thread/mithril ore. I think I have like 5000 mithril ore in my warehouse. In FP, I spoiled tons of adamantite nuggets and SOP.
I also seeded while poling. but i gave like 75% of the crops to my clan, since they helped me get all my gear.
i think I made a lot of money. but i mostly made stuff with the mats. and i gave away a lot of stuff like BO jewerlry.
I love spoiling. when the mobs turn blue, it makes you very happy. I think Its the most emotionally satisfying part of the game.
Thanks for all the feedback. I'm still undecided, but BH is still on my list. I'm debating some other classes as well, but what worries me about those is that I'll end up with a main I enjoy pvp'ing with, but a sub that's better in pvp. Sounds kinda silly I guess, but I'm a religious fun>function kinda guy, and I'd hate getting to a point where I'd prefer playing my wl, but wouldn't have a good reason to if I had a - say - archer or nuker sub. One advantage I'd have if I went archer would be a good reason to get a really good bow as a secondary weapon on my wl.
It's like christmas every mob ^.^ My BH sub at 65 made WAY more money than my WS at 77 lol. Gets groups way easier too (eveyrone loves spoils!) so I would say any emo BH should be shot!! WS is fun too, but you can't sub somethin so fun :P <3 golems.
BH's are a fun class to level. You can pole or you can do single mobs. Poling and sweeping is a bunch of fun. You say you want more of a PvE style of play since WL is your main focus. I think a BH would suit you well. They're one of the most entertaining PvE classes you can play IMO. Dwarves are fairly flexible for PvE.
Downside of the class is you're basically dead weight in raid bosses since they don't spoil. So that PvE aspect sucks :(. You only act as minimal DD for RB's. Of course PvP can be fun if you carry mass pots which is easy as a dwarf. But everyone else will outshine you in PvP.

I wasted a same level necro using my Bow this one time :p
I win a good amount of pvp's I get into, mind you i'm only in my mid 50's... :D
Dorfs can be tank-o-licious! I nerfed dex for str and have health SA on my blunt & pole. I hit slower but I hit harder & can use pots/haste buff for better attack speed. With the massive HP boost (especially with BTB & POF) I can get pounded on forever and not go down. I'm not a pvp gawd but I do surprise an awful lot of people... and in mass pvp dorfs aren't targeted right away so you can do some serious damage before someone gets annoyed & finally targets ya. By then it's frequently too late for them to pound through all my HP and survive.
Well... I think it's more profitable having a strong fighting class that kills rapidly to get a few lots per monster that being a bit weaker and being able to Spoil mobs...
I still think that... All resources (ie. mats... bone, stems, armor parts) should only be gained from spoiling. The drop tables need adjusting
Let adena drop for all other races.... Let adena drop for the BH and mats be gained from spoiling. It would make the BH again become a must played class.

just think of how much more satisfying it is when they turn blue on my Warsmith ;)
It's fun to spoil s grade in Imperial Tomb with my WS...although only 1/10 mobs turn blue (my record is 6 mobs in a row,,,not bad with lvl 1 spoil on lvl 78+ mobs)

Get another account and make a SE when ever I'm low on money and grind solo with my SE (a summon pet helps also just make a macro with a delay of 2 before /petattack) on my BH for 8 hours (BH can hold a lot of ss) in the cata (keep a cup of hot tea next to you) at the end of the day I'm set for a week or 2 just go Giran with all your matts I tend have like 10k animal bones alone this is not INC weapon and armor scrolls and other matts. then find who ever paying the most for your matts and sell to them.
Say a few is buying Animal bone for 800a you sell to them poof 8 mill that fast just on the bones alone,
mind you this is 55+ in the cattas you won't make as much at low lvls but the higher your lvl the more you will make.
