This is about lifestone, Most high grade and top grade life stones cost a lot of adena. So if you're going only for the glow would it be more advantageous to buy mid grade stones and try your luck? Even with the cost of removal of augments you could get lucky with a nice glow in 3-4 tries. Or is there something more to high and top grade life stones?
Discuss why someone should spend money on high or top life stones versus a few tries with a mid or low end life stone. Or is it just stupid to spend adena on high and top life stones?
I dunno really, if I have extra (adenaski) I just buy up all the really inexpensive low and mid stones I can and "try my luck"
On my first try with my very first lvl 46 mid grade stone (got as a drop in DV) I recieved +18.2 to Critical and +10.1 to critical as well as a pleasant pulsating glow. Lucky me I guess as Sp0rk attempted at LEAST 10 on his weapon and got straight garbage every time (until he OE'ed his 2 hander and then ow and behold he gets Active Skill: Aggression, +ses to a stat, AND a nice cosmic looking stardust effect) WITH a mid grade stone I might add.

Simple answer to your question?
If your going *just* for the glow, buy a high..you are garunteed a glow no matter what.
A low will hardly ever get you a glow, a mid will if you get a nice augment. (not yellow/blue)
If your going for purely a active skill and dont care about the glow, get low's, such as those mages going after Wild Magic Augment.
Got a glow and a nice active skill on my first try with a mid 58 on my Homu.
Tried 7 mids on other weapons, but no glow and most of the time absolute crap.
Well, I suppose that If the only purpose behind an Augment attempt is to get the glow, then yeah it does not matter.
I was thinking of actually getting a beneficial skill (active or passive) when augmenting.
Ahh :)
Yeah I'll entirely agree there. The person specifically mentioned just getting a glow though and no care about skills, only reason I worded it like I did :X
If you are only interested in glow, the type of stone matters.
Top-grade gives the strongest glow every time.
High-grade gives a strong glow every time, with a chance to get the strongest glow.
Mid-grade has a chance to get a glow.
Low-grade has a smaller chance to get a glow.
lvl of the stone determines lvl of the skill you get
(e.g. a active nuke skill from a lvl 49 stone will be a lower power nuke than a nuke skill from a lvl 76 stone, and lvl 76 stone is "max" skill level, i.e. nukes will be like lvl 74 skillset)
grade of the stone determines chance to get a skill
as far as I can tell, you cannot get a glow from a "normal" grade stone (i.e. not mid/high/top), correct me if I am wrong there, but I never got one even when I got a skill, and same for everybody I talked to. Mid grade stones get a glow when you get a skill (active/passive/chance). High grade stones always get a glow. I do not know if the glow from top grade stones is different, never used one.
