Has anyone ever encountered this guy while they have the sword. I passed him over the weekend and realised that he seems to serve no real purpose except to wander aimlessly about waiting for someone with the sword to pass him.
Is he like Aura from The World? Or maybe Tri-Edge? :)

I wish i got on of those chaotic weapons at least once :(, and if so, i would try to get to floran and bargain for it :(. (anything else would be a total waste of time seeing as i am not in a big ally..)
I was thinking the same thing when I was exping just outside of goddard the other day, when he passed me twice. I'd love to see him go over the sword.. lol.
guy always freaked me out when i hunted there
every 10 mins or so he would get to a certain spot, self buff wind walk and then start running straight for me
you'd think after a few years playing L2 you would realize raid bosses don't usually agro but when you are cdling and something like that starts running your way you don't usually think logically
Yeah, I think its good to have a at least somewhat dynamic mob in the game... All the stationary RBs are soo boring. This one at least walks around.. :)
Same, I was standing near the track exping when I heard some weird noises, I was like what the heck is that and turned around and bam there he was, freaked me out. I normally don't play with sounds on.. :)

I would have to say that they ruined Orfen a bit. She used to have a wider aggro range and you were literally scared that she would "smell you" and stomp on your head.

Uh huh ... happened to me too. Actually I was just checking out if she's agro or not, cause I had heard rumors also that she is.. so I just had to check it out myself :eek:
And yeah.. one hit takes you nicely down on those lvls. My friend used to say that the sounds you hear in Sea of Spores are the ones Orfen and her followers make.
Well in that case she sounds a little like a cow :D

It's just so static and contrived.
RBs used to aggro but people kept complaining. I remember when a non-aggro RB was actually social with the mobs that were around it. You would see some people xping away and then see them running as the RB chased after them.
Orfen use to be like twice as tall too, I have her in an old video and she's so huge you could barely see the top of her. Her aggro range use to be like 1800 too, it was crazy.. lo.
I remember just XPing in sea of spores and all of a sudden just hearing that *BOM* *BOM* *BOM* and thinking, oooohh shiiit, quickly turning the camera and Orfen was covering the whole thing...ran like hell..ended up pulling orfen on a group XPing nearby, getting them all killed. Wasn't terribly popular after that, lol.

I also remember that evil tree (can't remember the name) that is in the dark elf swamp. It was bright red and was used as a quest mob for the SH lvl 40 quest. However, it was aggro and used to take out people leveling in the swamp.
One of the BEST times I've ever had was when I was still very low and we got a group together to try to kill one. We were wiped but again, one of the best times ever.

A raid boss in the Pavel Ruins or somewhere near there is aggro.... =.= Some dwarf or goblin or something summons a giant aggro raid boss machine golem thing and it chases you til you die. =.=

I was soloing in the Sea of Spores once, I see Orfen, I decide it'd be a GREAT idea to send my summon at him to see what would happen. Dead pony. Two minutes later, while trying to go around him, I aggro him, send another pony at him which only aggros the minions on the pony, I keep running, I try to sleep him...... and I dropped my Karmian Stockings. =(
Once we got into that lair. We were just wandering around Sea of Spores, avoiding Orfen carefuly, when we ran onto bunch of insects. Thinking "cool that could be good place to hunt" we attacked one ... having swarm of her helpers and later Orfen herself was really funny :) Our brave tank sacrificed himself while we were escaping to some distance and SoEd. Luckily he did not drop anything.
Previously there were lots of minibosses, they turned later to raidbosses and became passive. BTW I think I saw in some notes that bosses should react when people are preparing in front of it and should attack ... so far I met only that they start to buff theirselves and waiting in battlestance.
I think just buffing up and getting ready is ok as sometimes not all your group is ready to start. Maybe the mobs could move in a practice manor, just to scare people a little. Sort of running at someone with a sword ready but stopping at the last moment and walking back to where they were.
I do think it would be funnier if they were programmed to comment on the people with you though ........

"Ha only one SE, you don't stand a chance"
"You haven't brought an Orc to tank have you?"
"I eat Dark Elves for breakfast"
Or even
"XYZ haven't I defeated you before? And you've come back again?"
Theres a boss at Outlaw forest that threw a AoE magic on us while we were buffing up. Oo
magic critted two of us, lol.. dead.
Did nothing else however.
I guess that makes sense, you'd think the boss would buff up or attack first rather than stand there while a party or two buffs up and prepares.
I mean a normal person wouldn't just stand there while someone else says "oh I'm gonna kick your butt" (rolls up sleeves) "you just wait you're gonna get it!!!" (puts on brass knuckles) etc etc
I nearlly hit him once not having seen him b4 as was white to me at the time, boy would that have been a mistake. Bit like the time i spoke to the NPC in pavel ruins....

true true, but Gordon is a famous carebear who's too afraid of going red to flag first. ;)
I couldnt find info about his drops, but at least I can tell Scroll: Enchant Armor (S grade), and 1487725 XP , 1543884 SP and 982 raid points when vitalitly is active at lvl 86... I am ISS enchanter, I don't know if any other class can solo him, due to buffs and self heal
Next time you go at him give me a shout and I will help... I'm always in that area.

I see guys you are all around necro posts, instead of taking it as an UPDATE post... If I knew that raid boss can be soloed before I could farm it more often
Hahaha Sure DrachaVonDrachen, but maybe you are already too high lvl for it, my main point was "you can solo it now" and they haven't fix that... So if you awake, go for him, easy kill + raid boss exp
Is interesting when someone try to update some important info, ppl just complain... guys you are not so smart to take advantage from forum, just like crying and attacking positive posts
You can get his transformation scroll if you are lucky. Which is pretty nice for summoners I heard.
wow thats nice drop... I saw already couple guys looking for him, I had to lure the boss to a safe area to kill him (solo), ppl is getting interested on him.
