Does anyone remember getting 10% an hour in your 30s way back in Cruma? (C1 era)
I totally forgot about it but was going through some old stuff that reminded me... 10% an hour, spent in pick-up groups in C1 and C2 (old names for the floors) ... at that rate I guess it took me about 100 hours just to go from 30 to 40 (not including the time spent shouting for group!) LOL
10% at hour at level 35 - and that was considered good xp! LOL
People who started in C3+ are so lucky.
I remember spending a 48 hour stint over the christmeas C2 was implemented trying to get to lvl 40 from lvl 35 or 36. It was a constant party, we would just replace people that wanted to go afk for a while and then they would come back after a few hours. The only breaks i took were to get a quick something to eat and drink while the rest of the party was getting SS...... Im never doing that again lol.
Man, I never got any sleep back then. Cruma was jam-packed and you could usually get a party. It was a great time for Lineage 2. Healers and buffers got lots of love back then.
CT was usually on lockdown on Gustin, and later when farmers and dominating ally moved to GC and AL, lots of gankers roamed around (InnerSanctum were special about that). So I do not remember Cruma very much because I did not hunt there :(
But it took me like month to get to 20 and have my first classchange done :)
The lock-downs on Bartz back in C1 were funny. They'd camp the spawn on CT1 and take everyone out during blackscreen. There was this once we managed to overcome them by porting in around 3 parties in our clan at once and had two bishops spamming mass res as soon as they ported in. Can't for the life of me remember which clan it was. Would be nice to know if they still lock stuff.
I'm glad others remember that as well. This weekend I did 2.5 levels from d- to c-grade in one day (which also included a sporting event & watching a dvd). Of course back then a tarbar was pretty uber, and I'd never even seen a glaive or staff of life.
What was cool back then is I could easily get a group just by shouting cleric lfg, even when I was really too low. And you really met a lot of people (ok, some of which were predatory profarmers ). But for myself, I'm really really glad they made leveling easier.

Lol i started at c3 and still got 10% an hour or around there in my late 30's/early 40's ^^ then again... i was incredibly lazy so most likely coulda gotten more than that, lol.
Starting in mid/late c3 based on what i've heard people talk about that played since beta... yes i do consider myself very lucky, heh
I was out of cruma at around 42 because most idiots didnt know what HEs were capable of back then. When they would find out I was a HE they would kick me out of party and try to get a TH. >.<
I then started soloing alot in EV (before the mobs were boosted). When I hit 48 I moved to FG and got 800xp per kill (in a full party) and that was considered "good" xp.
In C2, ToI-5 was the new CT. I was awestruck when I started seeing 5k+ xp per kill.
Funny isn't it? I look at old screenies and see the same thing, like 500-800 exp a kill in a party and no one complained. Now that would be totally unacceptable. Then again we also had downtime to regen and buff back up, another thing you never see.
I don't remember the XP/hr rate. Believe it or not, back then I was barely concerned about getting XP at all. It must have taken me forever just to get to level 10. :D
L2 was my first MMORPG and it completely blew me away. Of course, this is coming from a guy whose last faithful gaming experience was as a kid on the old SSI Forgotten Realms games (Champions, Death Knights & Dark Queen of Krynn). No, I'm not kidding. The light years beyond anything I had known graphics, coupled with the extreme culture shock of L2, left my hair standing on end for days!
And then it all came to an abrupt end when a Red pk'ed me. I only started to care about xp rates when I reaized that serpents exist in every garden, no matter how virtual, beautiful or exotic...and you better grow some fangs of your own to deal with them.
I get 5% per buff round in B-grade now. I was doing a bit better than that in the 40s, but still it's -_- better than my rate in d-grade back then by far.

Ahh yes, just looking through my screen shots a C1 Cruma party in the mid 30s, getting 705 exp from a mob, and that was a good party! :).
Took me about 4 months to get from 1-40, and now people do it in four weeks (or less :p), rather sad.
I think one reason for the slowness, was some people didn't want to get aching fingers using too many shots.
1-40 any class = 4 hours + class changes. :P I remember when I first hit 40 I sold all my D gear and bought a karmain set. Stepped outta town and CrazyTaco pked me back to 39.95. Back then I thought you keep your C grade mastery since you keep skills when deleveling. Now that sucked trying to relevel naked slow cast speed ftl.

I remember when you DID keep your grade masterys when you delvled. I actually remember a guy that got to lvl 35 in OB and then delvled to lvl 4 (so you couldnt drop anything). He then went around pking everyone while he had lvl 35 skills and top D grade equip.
I remember when evasion actually did something. Evasion tanks owned.
LOL evasion tanks? nwo that sounds too **** funny to be true so it probably is true, lmao
back in c1, when the cool SWSs had water...evasion tanking was extremely overpowered. Why you think they nerfed it?
Let's not forget that Agility was better back then too. I think they nerfed Agility and Water at the same time... Agility + Water meant anyone could tank, LOL.
1-40 in 4 hours?
your nutz..... it takes a good part of the afternoon with a 75+ SE fully buffing you and with Pots to get the missing buffs to go from 1-20....
I can easily do 1-20 in 2 hours (not including class change quest) w/ an outside buffer on either a mystic or a fighter class. You just have to do it in the dungeons (I've found the Elven Fortress to be the best), spam SS/BSpS and only go back once for skills (first skill set). If you've got a 75+ SE and it's taking you longer than that... you're doing something wrong! :o
I saw someone named CoolName001 with the title Cruma Legend over it in Aden one day. Any old Ericans know these fellows are bad azz old school farmers.
hough I do have to thank those farmers for one thing, I can now just lmao when someone tries to train me. Scrubs, in comparision.
PW is awesome for Training...even tho you got low con, fast run speed + high evasion = great training.
I can even train with a WS lol...but farmers suck at training.
CT sucked back in the day, specially lvl 2, cause those mobs sleeped, and no waking scrolls so we slapped people to wake them up....while we're flagged for 40 seconds people would run in and back stab us, this was back in the day when daggers owned all.
might mortal, P df ignored skills, no CP. Bad days!
not sure i believe you can do 0-40 in 4 hours but you definitely can't do it with class change!!
fastest i can do 0-40 is prolly 7 hours on a destro (job change would prolly take longer :/)
back in the day with big boom however you could prolly send someone 0-40 in 10 mins with a good group
Or sitting in a FoG party
FOG for ppl under 40 is crap xp
you would prolly get more xp per hour soloing with no buffs

You do
Back ontopic though I guess, think my first "parties" in CT were in prelude, clannie use to aoe the ne of CT1 with his DE mage before they put in snipes in C1. Ok, so I was leeching but who cares :D

I can't speak for lvl1 characters in FoG, but a friend of mine recently reactivated his account and he was like lvl20. What was kinda unfortunate was that I had no characters at that level so I wasn't able to party him unless I rolled an alt and got it to 20. We invited him to random aoe parties like MoS, Toi10, and abg, and he got plenty xp. He was 40 after a couple of days of very casual play in 5-8 man parties.
Leveling is nothing now compared to the beginning.
I remember I needed 6 months to raise a Phantom Summoner till lvl 27.
Nowadays, in the same time and with the same playtime, I can raise 3 toons to lvl 50 ...
Yep, high levels use to do that in the AC and EF all the time. Wear lowbie gear, smack you, you hit back, then they destroy you. I had it happen to me on my first char around level 15.
I also remember specifically in Cruma no less, joking around with a dagger who was in an enemy clan but we were partying any way, and one backstab took half my HP away. This was before CP even existed.

I started in mid/late c3 so i didn't play back then :) never heard of evasion tanks until this was posted so i couldnt possibly have known it was overpowered and got nerfed, lol.
Both water and agility gave +10 to evasion. After the nerf, they reduced both water and agility to +3 AND they increased the accuracy of mobs. Gotta love how NCSoft always over nerfs things.
I remember running around in open beta and everything was in korean and I didnt understand crap.. GREAT TIMES IMO! :(
I don't remember anything being in korean. I, however, remember everything being mis-translated. The stupid map quest had you go out to kill some red foxes. I still can't find the mob named red fox.

Then I suppose you werent on the korean open beta =P
I remember hub scent, Ti Mi Tran (light elven trees), Devotion hose (instead of devotion stockings) or hose of devotion, can't recall. Bow or Forest of BoF.. XD
Man, those minibosses which basically were a beefy group mob. It was like a baby raid you could do with less than a full party, and you'd have about 1/20 chance for a full drop.
Man I miss those! Those were awesome to do just as a change of pace, and you didn't need to organize a ton other than getting a few friends to come and help. It was really fun if you had a small party and realised some nearby boss was up, and you'd try to take him even tho you weren't sure if you could.
Why did they end up taking them out? Were they overfarmed in korea or something?
I remember when Rinoket still existed (he's called something generic now) and my duo ran into another random duo and we decided to make a last minute raid of it. We got a recipe for a ring of ages and I remember that was like OMG so awesome XD
I remember our alliance at the time RedBlades used to have the SE Premo room on lock down, we always had a party there with people coming in and out of it. I spent the majority of my 30-44 lvls in those 2 rooms.
I dont ever remember cruma being locked down on bartz, but i do remember the north side of DVC being locked down by farmers. They would train anyone who hunted there.

And back then almost all C-grade and B-grade looked like Salamander Skin Mail (wasn't it named Slamander at some point or am I hallucinating?)
I bought and wore Rind Leather (http://www.aerialangelsgym.com/images/Lineage/Shot00033.bmp) for a while because even though it looked hideous on my screen, I knew most people used a skins **** that let them see the C2 armor skins like Korea. So on their screens I looked pretty, LOL. :) (Notice the SK and BD on the right wearing armors that look like salamander?)
Good old FP looking like sally. Also LOL at the person shouting about selling NG shots in Dion, back when you could make money running NG shots, which were noob town only, from LEV to Gludio, Gludin, or Dion.

The normal healing pots sold well too. Whats really funny is that you could buy the regular pots in Gludin. Since there wasn't a map of the town, most people had no clue there was a store that sold them. I would buy a bunch of them and then sell them in the hallway for more.
