Auction House !!!

I see for long and long time ppl requesting the damm Auction House in L2, i would like to know what experience did they get in games using it...

The only benefit expertised player in other games found on some games is that is a nice advantage for the farmers...

Everyone can see your price what the hell you think would benefit ?

Every farmers can see the prices without being running from player to player just to see what price they should set for some stuff and can get even more control in L2 economy.

Whats the reward on that?
Don't think how would the farmer benefits from it... Think how the player benefits from it
The player doesnt benefit from it when the farmers buy all existing items and set a monopoly much easier.
btw u can stop requesting for one, its already coming with CT1, it doesn't run 24/7 however. at lest im fairly certain its coming
In the three games that I've played that had auction houses, one of them fared very badly due to extremely low player population. In the other two, however, they were intensely awesome.

As far as establishing a monopoly goes... this still benefits the seller (that is, the player), as they are receiving the price they wanted for the item they sold. It doesn't matter if a farmer buys it or not. For the buyers... don't pay farmers, don't pay more than you're willing to afford for the item you want. Monopolies only work if there's a) a way to control the product and b) a willing market for the goods.

Even if farmers buy every Widget from the broker priced below 1 million, and then resell them for 10 million, there still needs to be be people willing to pay 10 million for a Widget in order for the tactic to work.

Of course, given the instant gratification mindset of many L2 players, I have little doubt that they will pay these prices... but, then, everyone gets what they deserve.

supply and demand pretty much. i see the auction system being the best thing for the economy since everyone who can't set up an afk shop will get in on it (me included) if anything prices will drop since it will be simple and easy to compair prices between sellers.
It's not only farmers that can "buy it all up". Legit players can also benefeit if they're willing to put in initial investment. That's the real key of making money in the long run.
the O.P is actually against auction houses which is a nice change
too late either way it's set in stone at this point but at least they did place some restrictions on the system
I think they're handy at making the economic side of the game more efficient.

There are several reasons why an inefficient system is better for the economy. I think the plans sound pretty good.
That would be a really nice,

After all the MMO's i have played i have to say i was extremely shocked when i first entered Giran.

Not only is it extremely lagging but getting stuck 4 times whilest trying to get to the Gatekeeper is even more annoying, and click to walk is fun because 60% of the times i click a player.

put that into a macro and hit it when you wanna get to the GK in Giran.
Ah cool thanks for the tip ;)

i've always tried to remain neutral when it comes to auction houses, but let's analyze how they work...

(maybe we could get rid of the "buy now" thing)

player A sets up a low price for item A
farmer A bids on item
Player B bids higher
so forth until it becomes a hassle?

player A wins in the end.

the farmer has more $$ so he may get the item, can he resell it? maybe if player B reaally wants it.

what would the farmers monopolize, the entire system? do they have enough money to buy all the items in the auction house and just resell them? would they want to?

i dunno, im tired.

If they find a way to profit from it that is worth their time then I don't see why not. I seriously doubt that after 3+ years they've contracted a bad case of the "Scruples".

Regardless, Hgmspam says that if we don't associate with farmers and cheaters then the problem will be solved. Maybe we need some sort of education program. Maybe it should teach us all to resist the temptation to buy from the 24/7 armies in hopes of thwarting their evil deeds. Maybe that will finally work. Hmm...

This is very, very bad for all those who make money buying and selling items.... This feature may ruin the game for me. :(

If everyone can set your prices neatly next to everyone else's, those people who live between the marigens are screwed... This only benifits the buyer and gives the seller the shaft. I will hold-out my judgment until I see exactly how the system works, but just think of all those people trying to sell GSAPs or DSS. There will be 30-50 people trying to sell them, and the seller has to rely on dumb-luck that someone will choose to buy his and not someone else's instead of strategically choosing a location to set-up shop. This is D-day for all us sellers. XD
I am very much against auction houses. I love how Giran is like walking thru a midieval market town, you have to keep a hand on your wallet all the times. It is great fun to shop for bargins, occasionally find one and make a healthy profit.

The current L2 system is one of the wonderful things about this game, never ever change it!
Mideval towns markets are a bunch of people sitting around 24/7?

heh
in wow, sometimes farmers buy mats and jack up the price. but they aint very bright. if the AH clears up giran town itll be a good thing.

It's not, really, as I do the same thing in EQ2 that has a 24/7 Auction House that connects all of the cities... I don't even need to leave the tavern I live above to shop other cities.

There's always someone selling something of interest significantly below market value, either because they just want to get rid of it, need quick cash, or don't know its value. As always, the diligent bargain-hunter can snatch these up and turn them over for profit. The presence of the auction house actually makes this easier for you.

Ok lets see i put my 1800 C crystals for sell at 3100adenas

The farmer put the 10000 he have for sell at 3000 adenas below market price

What you do ???

Of course you buy it from me cause you know im a legit one and the other not!!!

So where is the point of this system benefit a player??

The only thing i see here is a lot of ppl who don't realize how mutch the market is inflated in the hands of farmers

Givving this just would help them to make it easyer to controle, the real things would appen in that kind of system is farmers against farmers prices or they set all at a higher or lower price as they want.

I see many ppl buying seal stones the price now give you 1/3 and you sell now for 4 adenas on Franz, but if the farmers want they change the AA for 3 and all the ppl doing that way will get nothing, how many players have sense to see how mutch a farmer can do with 2 partys in a catacomb??

Of course if theres no cheaters and Adena buyers the game should be perfect, but they exist and they will always exist, some ppl just want to be the greatest and when the others get them they change server and gives excuses, blah blah blah

Or maybe in CT1 we start seeing a more active participation of the "Hammers", i dont believe if NC works to ban ppl every 2 months the players keeping running "3rd part software", and the farmers will being screwed to make money if they keep getting theyr accounts banned, we just need a good reply from NC

From the ones who keep saying if theres no farmers in game the prices should be insane, my answer for them is you just don't know nothing about the market and crafting system!!!

- Auction Hall without monitor system screw the market
- Farmers screw the Manor system
- And a lot of players support them
the auction house is going to make everything alot easier, now when i want to buy soulshots/spiritshots, i can see what there is there, instead of spending 15 minutes finding decently priced ones
Has anyone actually bothered to CHECK how the AH will be working? It wont be in every town. It will be open only at limited times...

Even without an Auction House, I'd be buying the farmer's crystals, not yours, because that's how capitalism works.

Sometimes i feel like talking to wals...

No you will buy my Crystals cause the Farmers don't know my price!!!

You know why?

- They dont know where i am, only usuall customers

- I log my seller after the Farmers left the Characters

Is not so hard to see when they are or not actives O.o

I set after them and my Computer is programed to shutdown one hour before they back to market

It works now, but with the most wanted Auction Hall...

It will Sux even if that only work for 12 Hours...

If the farmer doesn't know where you are, then how the hell am I, Jane Q. Customer, going to know? If you only have "usual" customers, who know to take the third left after the scarab-marked stone, up the steps to the temple and down to the fourth crypt on the right... I'm not going through that so I can spend more money on your crystals as opposed to "GHGHGHGH" who sits right there in front of the GK all day, every day.

Especially if the farmer is a) cheaper and b) more convenient than your shop to find, then the farmer wins. Not because I particularly support farming, but that you have failed as a seller. If your shop is impossible to find, and on top of that costs more than the easy-to-find shop... then why should I buy your crystals?

The only thing then saving your shop would be server politics or personal familiarity. I, for example, buy from friends before I buy from strangers. I buy from clans/allies I like before I buy from those I don't, etc. However, if I'm "just a customer" and you're "just a shop", then of course price and ease of use wins in the end.
Price > everything else when I'm shopping ^^
Another problem with the auction house is the fact that it isn't very day. So the normal market will take a big hit because everyone is going to just "wait" until Tuesday so see if they can get a better price.

But I am not 100% on how it works yet, so I will save my judgement for doomday :)
Auction houses have been out now in Korea with CT1. Does anyone know how it really works and maybe give us a light? There is an intuition with how things work but then there is NC's implementation of things which isn't always intuitive. Sometimes it's bad and sometimes it's good. I like the way Giran works with all the shops right now. I've made a decent amount of coin through the current system.
