Which is better, Shillen Knight or Blade Dancer?

I'm xNetwarriorx from Sieghardt server, and I've just became a Palus Knight. However, I am not sure of which class I am going to be when I go to lvl 40... Some friends of mine say that Shillen Knights are a class which "Nobody can kill but can kill nobody" ( I don't like being this kind of class ), and other people say that Blade Dancers can fight, just buff other people ( I don't like being pure support classes )...

Which of these classes is better to fight -and kill-?
SK's have a suprising amount of punch. Hex, Sting, offensive cubics, and Lightning Strike aren't too bad when you compare them to other tanks. That being said, yeah..."suprising" damage and "excellent" damage are two wholly different things.

BD's get some nifty tricks, but I haven't heard of them doing serious pvp damage. The upside is that Aggression is hella fun in pvp. Hex is always cool. Dances will get you parties. One level of UD is still a level of UD.

So I guess BD, but the trick is that no one will want you to be up front killing when your death means no more BD buffs. Neither is a pvp superstar.
So, it´s between a class "Nobody can kill but can kill nobody" and a class "Anybody can kill but can kill nobody"...

OK I am exaggerating, but not by that much... Each chronicle after C4 has pushed BDs more to the role of buffers in heavy armor than of secondary dd...

No particular nerf was aimed at then but a lot of the overall nerfs and overall boosts have diminished our role as assistant damage dealers. Each time mages/archers range is increased, evasion gains importance, mdef/debuff resist is increased, damage buffs are nerfed BDs take a indirect hit and we surely are not getting the tools to make up for it (lol even our lvl 80 skill is a shot in the foot).

In summary BDs are still very sought after for any party and are still a must for the high lvl pvp parties but is increasingly becoming a boring class to play...

Tanks, in the other hand, have been receiving nice boosts past 2 chronicles and will be boosted again in CT1. SKs are kind of rare so its difficult to say how well they do now.
I have seen some doing pretty well in pvp, but I don't know how much it was due to their adversary´s lack of skill...
I think for pvp SK is a better choice.
This topic is comparing apples to oranges.

Both yummy fruits! :)

Hmm... Apple Juice>Orange Juice!

Who was the apple? O.o

Hehe, I hear BDs are fun to play, one of the fastest classes at levelling and are always welcome in parties.

BD gets my vote! xP
A while back I faced this decision on a character to duo with my SE.
I went with BD, and really haven't regretted the decision. I think SK would have been fine, too, for the task of letting me 2-box level my SE.

Something to consider at this point in the game is what role you might have in your clan. The SK will be of no use to the higher level people for a long long time. However a couple of times my b-grade BD has been asked to join the big kids in lvl 72+ dungeon because the dances are useful, even if my BD could hardly hit the mobs.
Well...

BDs can be deadly in PvP.. but you have to sacrifice your defense rate.. and put down heavy armors.

I've seen quite some deadly BDs.

Btw... I chose BDs but I hate PvP.. I only do PvB(bots).
Can't tell you which one works best for you, but I prefer SK over BD. I like to do more than just dance and whack things.

Hmm, sounds like a Pole Dancing Stripper that works as a hitwoman for the mob.
Totally dark elf.. ^^
I've played both and I have to agree that blade dancers tend to be a little bit monotonous. You hit, buff, and hit some more. That's it.

Shillien knights are a little more dynamic in their play style. You get more choices in your attack patterns.

Both classes are mellee and aren't the best for PvP, but if you're good you can still manage to hold your own. Blade dancers get really nice PvP skills, but not until level 75+.

Blade dancers give wonderful buffs for all classes and any party will love you.

Tanks have kind of disappeared over the last few updates (at least in my server). It's not that they don't have a lot to offer a group. It's just that most people have forgotten what having a tank in group is like and learned to manage without one.
Well... I am still a bit indecisive...
I really like PvP, however, looks like it's a bit hard to live in Lineage without hanging on parties... In other MMORPGs I play, parties love tankers rather than buffers...

But I am not very good at getting and staying in parties, so Shillen Knight is better for me? Can Shillen Knights manage to live alone?

How so?

For my BD I choose the dances for the situation and then pull with Hex, smack it down. I guess I could use life drain, freezing strike, poison, sting (for overhit or dot), power break, etc. I don't have fancy medusa dance yet. But usually I just Hex and hit it. The SKs I've partied with do the same.

I think it depends on your clan. Mine has more than enough tanks. To be honest, parties may or may not even use a tank. The last high-level party I joined (cuz they lacked a buffer) an archer was the main-assist, and frequently I'll be in groups where the "tank" is my BD or even an orc or something with no hate skills. Aggro is easy enough to manage with dps.

I would think you'd get along ok with your self-buffs + potions + herbs. SK seem pretty capable of dealing damage, so your kill speed shouldn't be too bad.
when i was a sk now im a ST i did very good with just my cubes and all my other skill hex, psn, sting(bleed),LS land rate on mobs is pretty high, and judgement for lower crti rate and awsome damge on angels. In pvp i do very good againt archers and nukers and will every class its all on how u play ur char.
im sorry if my typing suck i suck at it so sorry
My friends a SD and he is good at it but they dont really do much melee at lvl 76 its mostly bow cuz with the bow they crti fing awsome.
BD in most big pvp are used for dance liek in archer groups or nuker group and they take the bow out and dance when needed.

SK's are great for solo, I have one and love it, my daughter on the other hand has a BD and she's pure support class, with and SK you can either tank in a group or go solo any time. The pvp part of an SK is pretty good too, but the choices is finally yours. you're the one that will play this toon so pick whatever you're confy with. Gluck
Ya i would have to agree with cerriwend about that. It's your choice. SK for tanking and good dgm (also good pvp class) or a BD for really good DPS, and BD's are good for pvp to. It all comes down to how you want to play. I have a SK and its working out fine.
The class i enjoyed the most in my life was the SK, the amazing amount of skills gives you different options to use during pvp... maybe u will not be the owner but you will have fun for sure. Seeing the cubics in action made me happy enough... but using soul shots, blessed spirit shots (for hex, power break, life leech, life drain, freezing strike, lightening strike ... omg lol) and crystals for cubics all the way, could be expensive. So find a bussiness activitie and expend time making money. Until now, tanks are not what people think in this game for PvE, and maybe NCSoft will improve them in each chronicle. Of the tanks available, maybe the SK is the weaker one for PvE, specially for raid bosses, but nothing enormous i think.
did either of you use Tats? and if so what ones?
im having a hard time gettin any tips on this so if anyone could hook me up with some knowledge that'd be great! lol.
If you are going for tank go for -str and boost your con and dex. But no more solo xp after that...
but you can't carry crap with that low con...im thinkin -2Str and -2 Dex and +4Con.

but you can't carry crap with that low con...im thinkin -2Str and -2 Dex and +4Con.

Never go -DEX. If you are gonna grind, get +4STR/-4CON and buy/craft Greater Compressed Packages of Soul Shots.

So I guess BD, but the trick is that no one will want you to be up front killing when your death means no more BD buffs. Neither is a pvp superstar.

Usually in pvp/siege, the BD is first to get targeted by the opposing side.
