That's 2 days in a row i can't keep a shop up while i'm at work. The client looses connection before i sell anything. 2 things. Fix this or make auction houses.
it would help if you knew either the server crashed before you sold, or that your ISP lost connection (to weather etc) for the 30 seconds it takes to D/C you.
I have a question, what happens to your screen when lose con? Do you get a message screen or does the screen just show normal but with inability to do things? i.e open backpack etc?
Lol I think your taking things far too out of proportions.
There are many other things that can crap out that would drop you from your sell shop.
For example: PC , or OS crashes, ethernet/usb link from modem to pc or pc to Router, or router to cable/dsl modem, or your ISP (DHCP/DNS/Gateway), backbone routers(UUNET or AT&T for example), and finaly Lineage2
So in a long chain of things taht can crap out that would eventually drop your Sell Shop is long.
Information is key when making good 'decisions' :p
Well, sometimes it's the servers... but I've noticed that a lot of trouble can be related to your own internet connection as well. Especially all forms of wireless internet are known to be unreliable.
For me i get disconnect if my monitor goes into power saving mode >_>
And as GameGuard resets settings for it every time i start or close L2 i need to change the settings from 20min to Never or night shopping is going to end quickly.

both lol
sometimes you get a nice message
sometimes you cant do squat

LOL What I find really funny is that OP here is taking no measures to find out why he's being disconnected, he's just 100% blaming it on NCsoft, no questions asked.
I remember a time when a certain nation-wide ISP screwed up and everyone who had their service was having trouble connecting to L2, having lag and DCing while in private stores. It sucked, but it wasn't too long before everything was worked out and connections were restored.
Whatever the case, I'm 100% certain it's not NCsoft (or NCsoft alone) that is causing the problem. If that were the case, there would be NO private stores in Giran because everyone would DC.
Rofl this happened to me a while back...since then my hd died and i got a new hd, i also changed os's from xp to vista. I haven't had that problem since. Just lettign some of you know this guy (op) isnt' the only one who's had/have this problem.

It has nothing to do with the game/server. Its your connection that drops you. Most likely a router issue.

<snip>
I can sympathize with the OP on this. You're not an idiot for quitting playing something that isn't fun for you. No where did he/she say it was NCSoft's fault per se, just expressed frustration.
Immediately after C4 launched, I lost ability to keep a connection open for more than an hour to lin2. But I could stream videos, music, and play WoW no problem. I tried some stuff, but the fact of the matter is the game is for playing. It wasn't fun to play with constant DCs and it sure wasn't fun to muck thru stupid %$^& that NC masquerades as support, and Verizon was no better. I didn't do a tantrum here, I just quit trying and found fun stuff to do instead of lin2.
No one NEEDS lineage2. It's not like your electric company. There's a bazillion other things to do, and a lot of companies competing for your entertainment $$. So if it won't work, or is taking more work than you can put into it, just move on. A very short time after you're gone from lin2, you won't miss it a bit.

Can I have your stuff? ;)
He probably just dc when he tries to give it to you
Worth a shot, then again, seeing as how impatient the OP is, ie probably might still be in full bristling D grade, but even still, I can always use extra crystals :p
When I get Dc'd (which can be quite often) I am usually sitting there looking like I'm still selling. The moment I perform a function (open inventory, create shots, stand etc) I get the 'you have been disconnected from server' message. My DC's are primarily due to my lousy ISP. I swear they route traffic to the US via the Antarctic or something. Often UDP traffic went pear shaped (I'm not sure if this has any effect on L2 though) and often they drop for no apparent reason. Recently I also discovered that my ISP had changed the way it's DSL tails functioned. Now they disconnect the client every 24 hours and have the client re authenticate. So now b4 a play session or before setting up shop for the night I will power cycle the router in the hopes of maintaining my shop and not getting DC'd right after I start attacking a mob.
My connection has been much more manageable since I started doing this. Bit of a pain but at least now I'm staying connected through the night - usually....

Have you looked around you to see if other shops are still there when you log back on ?
It would seem to me the problem is likely to be your side rather than the servers.
You might be suffering from what we have in England and thats a Fair Use Policy with your ISP. They can force a break in your connection if they see you taking too much bandwidth for too long. However, its more likely to be something else. It could be dodgy line filters if you use them, ISP/TelCo maintenance work. It might also be your own machine doing house keeping like a defrag etc.
Give us more info and we might be able to help. Do we even know what server you are on and when it happened ?
Don't cancel because of a few disconnections.

Dude, who cares, the OP is huffin' and puffin' and already canceled service. Trying to make him/her see the Logic behind their rash and stupid action and logic is of no use imo.
On the other hand, maybe I could write a paper titled: "Common Sence for Dummies" and start selling it on Ebay or somethin :p
I cancel all the time, it's no big deal. I rarely stay on one game more than one month but i kinna thought that since this game is kinna "new" to me it would last longer.
Anyway i'm going to keep trying to keep shops up and if that doesnt work i'll prolly go play CoV.
EDIT: Oh and what i was trying to sell was the crystals from my old weapon to buy a new one and i actually got someone to pitty buy those already.
EXIT X2: I'm trying everything there is in technical forums. Reseting modem, disabeling all automatic updates... that's pretty much it.
Some people's internet connection simply blows and their is nothing they can do about it. For a few months I used to have an ISP where I'd get d/c'd ingame as soon as my character stood still for longer than 10 minutes. Tried all kinds of fixes but well, the only thing that helped was getting a new (non-wireless) ISP :)
I would love to see an auction house. When i first started this game and saw Girin I was shocked. It was so hard to run around there.
When I first started there wasnt anyone in Giran, everyone was crammed into Gludio. At least there is more room in Giran to randomly bounce off walls. I still prefer this system over auction houses though
Feline, you say you only stay a month or so. Is that because you keep getting cut off or your patience is wanting ?
The whole point of a game like L2 is that is its designed to last far longer than a month. The game evolves and has continued enhancements. We have another very soon.
Selling items like crystals isn't hard but can take time. For every seller, their needs to be a buyer or you'll sit there forever with purple writing above your head. If you can't sell an item, leave it in your store/warehouse and go hunt and level up. Next time you set up your shop, you could sell your wares in 5 mins. Thats the way it goes.
As for auction houses, well in my opinion, they're for lazy people who want to ignore a large part of the game and that is the buying and selling of items. I love the market and the ability to maybe buy something and sell it on for a profit or sell my last hunt's mats for more than it cost me in soulshots.
Regardless of all that, it really seems to me that you have a hardware/ISP/telecom problem rather than the game messing you about. Try and eliminate your pc as the problem, then contact your phone company and complain that you keep losing your connection and that you think there's a fault on the line. They'll check it and you'll find out if thats the weak link. You'll have to move on from there if they find no fault. I would say that it could well be other items like fax, satellite tv, phone or some other hardware on your line or even the internal line and filters that are causing your problems.
Make you phone co. test everything their side. (outside your house to the exchange)

I'll let you know that i made 40 yesterday, completed my class change, got top c grade borrowed gear and that i'm now rolling a dwarf. Does it all make sense? i'm not sure...
I get that all the time and I know I'm not alone. Sometimes when I log back in whole sections of Giran are cleared. If it gets real bad for me and I really have to sell an item I'll ask a clan member I trust to set up shop for me (if they don't buy it from me).
You're not making sense. Wow is a persistant world and you don't need to stay logged to sell your stuff. THEY have auction houses. I mean wow has them, CoV has them, Lotro has them. That's about all the game i played too.
Then you should have clarified. When using something like an AH or a Vendor Slot (a la EQ2), you're playing a shell-game with your character's database. Instead of requiring the client to maintain a connection to the server to allow another to access your special "vending inventory", it's then all done server-side.
However, we don't have an AH yet (and I note no comment on its existence on the PTS, leading me to my belief that its not there yet), and ours won't be 24/7 when we do get it anyway.
In the end, however, this is a simple case of reading comprehension. I said nothing about selling, I simply said logged in. Using a vendor/AH/similar feature in a game doesn't require you to be logged in. Using Giran does.
Interestingly, RFO has an AH, too, but the items remain in your inventory, in a sort of shadow-version that takes up space until sold, but cannot otherwise be used or accessed unless you delist it from the inventory.
Actually there was an auction house on the horizon for lin2. I thought it was coming with CT1, but I'm not sure. It won't be up all the time -- it'll supplement instead of replace our current system.
When you set upyour sell shop for the night have you tried reducing graphics to minimum (alt-P i think is default) and minimizing the game (alt-enter). Doing that has helped me keep connected in the past.

Its in Giran, probably other toons too. Wanna say N side of town if I remember right? :X
/Edit/ Bah towns, yes I've been drinking, its fRIDAY!
FelineFury147, I completely understand your problem and your wishes, but this is Lineage 2 and your wishes cannot be granted by NCsoft. End.
What you can do yourself, is switch ISP as far as it's possible (and definitely avoid anything that says wireless), have your computer checked for errors by someone with some knowledge, and basically you're set to go.
I've used all sorts of ISPs and connectivity methods while playing L2, and the only thing I can say is, it really DOES come down to your own ISP and connection method when deciding how long you can stay connected to the server.
I wish you good luck but I understand your pain! More people want auction houses... hehe
Switching isp would prolly mean a 1 year contract with bell Sympatico (for those that know of em). They hate their customers and have the worst customer service in north america. I hate them deeply but the other things look like they's holding together with duck tape.
Plus there's no guarantee that it would actually solve anything. Been talking with support for a while and they're telling me everything looks fine on their end and it's my fault my connection drops. That must be what the message saying distant computer is not replying, means.
L2 is cool and all, and i don't wanna bail on my clan but i hate beeing poor. I usually stay connected while i'm not afk so i'm thinking i should prolly just switch to a game with an auction house. Trying to stay off wow for no good reasons so i'd prolly try CoV.
It's all kinna complicated cuz i'm currently using clan gear i'd have to give back before going away. I might have enough money to buy a non top b grade weapon but i won't have enough after for armor which would leave me naked with a weapon. I could get some ng-d grade stuff maybe, i almost have a full brig set in the wh.
I got owned badly by wifi connection back when I started to play. 20% packet loss is just normal, and I do live on suburb even which is better than centre of town.
I switched to cable. Nothing matches solid copper or fiber when it comes to internet connections.
Sorry Feline disconnects aer 90% in your ISPs hands. Rest is routing somewhere between ISP and game servers, but that's usually reliable since L2 uses TCP protocol.
How about making some trustworthy reliable friend that sells instead of you?

Hmm from the first look, I thought it was your ISP's fault.
But, considering the facts I've heard and experienced lately, it seems there's indeed a problem caused by the game itself (or, most likely, by a pretty harmful trojan called GameGuard).
In brief, I've been having a problem with my network suddenly going down while playing L2. The system event viewer says: "PPP Connection made by user *** using device ISDN10-0 was disconnected." When I try to re-dial to my ISP after that, I get an error that the "remote computer does not respond" (i.e. the PPPoE session is frozen). Once L2 is shut down (forcefully), the connection can be restored easily.
Note: this problem only takes place while L2 is running.
what i recommend doing if your setting shop is drop all your graphics down in town, then zoom in the camera angle directly at yourself this way its not picking up anything but you on the ground. i had same issue and since i been doing that i havent had any problems. just an idea mit want to try out :)

PPPOE? Nasty, NASTY protocol....only the ISP's that outright *hate* their customers use that crap.
Yeah, change to PPPoA on your router settings if you can. I had lots of deconnection because of that.
And of course I still have a deconnection every 24h because my IP is dynamic, so it often happened I let the private shop while at work and when I returned it was deconnected for a few hours :/
Auction house would be nice. Have you seen anything on PTS?
"Remote Computer Not Responding" is almost always your ISP's server timing out, or an intermediary server between your client and the final destination of your ping.
I see this error all the time in the cellular data industry (the industry in which I work). When you're trying to connect to the internet with your cellphone, this is the error that says the tower isn't answering your data call.
i had the same problem FelineFury147 with you and i called my ISP provider and ask them why is this happening. my ISP is Virgin extelewest in UK. they told me that when the signal is in active or periodical (as it is in shop mode when the game is minimized) your cable modem drops its signal to (matter of speaking) a standby mode. this mode is compatible with MSN which never d/c but it might not be compatible with other services (because this game is a well paid service). i told them to find me a solution because i do not pay virgin or any company to be in standby mode and they told me to put a radio station on to keep the connection "alive". the cable does not have a switch for this mode so the solution was rather simplistic .
imo either put emule or any radio station on or even better call your company they have to come with the solution is their job.
Then again it's because the manor is sold out again but let's try to remain positive. Now don't tell me i don't know how to turn in, that's around 21:00 and i get home at 22:30.
