The role of the necro has changed in terms of pvp.
Necro is now pretty sick as just a debuffer, Sorc is just an out and out nuker that gets a bit less love than it's LE/DE counterparts. For xp the sorc can't touch the necro really.
necro has:
para
silence
gloom (lowers mdef)
summons
transfer pain
CDL
high lvls of body to mind
melee and magic silence at 77
some other ownage buffs
death spike (cheapest mp nuke in game)
hp drains
stun and backstab (via summons)
sorc has
surrender to fire which is one of the main advantages in a necro vs sorc battle
cancel
aura burn
ummm.....

are you serious? aura burn is a wizard skill so even warlock/necro has it.
also, sorc has a good slow (land most of the times). aura flash is a good skill.
for xp i used all 3 aoe skills many times.
necros don't get high lvls of aura burn (no name semantics please)
necro also has aura flash and their slow while not landing as well as sorc slow is aoe

True but don't forget Prominence thank you ^^
Main nuke as in only usefull :D you will spam like hell ... Also Yep on safire on the whining on the class being not top and also Yup to shamy on the MP management where Necro goes over Sorc (but only because of all nukers the Sorcerer doesn't get an increase on MP regain on it's own...hm except maybe Sps's also but the one in my alliance is just that wako to spend more then she can chew). ^^
If you love to PvP...Eeryone will tell you Necro all the way ^^
I love my sorceress but yep we have but a limited arcenal to use and burn our mp's fast and honestly Necro is just way too gimp :( Silence and it's Toast nukers on the other end (talk about overpowered huh :D )
necros don't get high lvls of aura burn (no name semantics please)
necro also has aura flash and their slow while not landing as well as sorc slow is aoe
necro has NO 40+ aura skill. they have NO aura flare (worthless from c4), NO aura bolt and NO aura flash. necro's main piece of cake are: gloom, silence (lands like 90% from c5), para, transfer pain and 76+ banes. from c5 necro is a weak nuker. divine+unholy = necro hits for 400 dmg.
sorc is not way better. right now it's better a bit. sorc have no great piece of cake. sorcs lack of useful skills. the only good thing sorcs have is fire vortex. ppl don't care on fire protection (cuz sorcs population is very low) and you cannot protect yourself from a sorc such easy as from necro.
which is exactly why necro is so dangerous
even if you could reduce their damage to 200 per nuke they can still kill you with para and an endless supply of unpottable nukes and if they are smart their summons (up to 4k pattack/ 30ish% crit rate i think)
necro has NO 40+ aura skill. they have NO aura flare (worthless from c4), NO aura bolt and NO aura flash. necro's

Nope. Only Spellhowlers, Spellsingers and Sorcerers get Aura Flash. (The REAL nukers...muahaha!)
Some other classes get an Aura Flash equivalent, though. I know my AW has 'Trick' which cancels my target's target. Although it takes a bit longer, it doesn't consume Spirit Ores like Aura Flash and can be used from a distance.

Necro has the forget skill (which makes the target drop it's taret and stop attacking you).
Unfortunately it hasn't been made to work in PvP yet. I haven't tested it on servitors but one day I'll get around to it (unless someone else does it after reading this :) ). It's pretty uber for running through areas, and would be equally uber if it was made to work in PvP :)

Wow... alot of ignorance in this post.
You do know that a Sorc will hit for less than a Necro on targets buffed against fire? Elemental Protection has more Fire Resist than the Unholy Resist in Divine Protection.
Also, Resist Unholy is not reliable when you are S Grade fighting against S Grade targets because Dark Vortex (which has higher landrate than Fire Vortex due to Curse Gloom) will strip that buff right off. If you PvP vs S Grade players, you mind as well get another DPS buff, IMO. It always comes second from a Soultaker (after Gloom). Resist <Element> is non-factor in S Grade, where the Sorcerer gets the shaft more than any other nuker in S Grade.
Not every PvPer runs around with an SWS, and those songs only last 2 minutes anyways. If you are demanding Invocation 90% of the time you PvP with an SWS, you're doing yourself and you group a huge injustice by wasting that slot: The Necro's debuffs and disable skills are far more deadly than his nuke. Get Warding/Earth/Vitality and Wind (if possible instead).
Also, Mass Banes are only useful in larger scale PvP. They are point blank AoE skills (think Blazing Circle) with short range. The whole point is to keep the target as far away from you as possible. Don't Anchor unless you have to (Archers need to be Anchored ASAP, though, basically forced to run in then). Slow or Fear other Melee that run in (Dagger, Tyrant, Glad, etc.). Discord (-Accuracy) Daggers. Silence Mages, et cetera.
In S Grade, a Soultakers most clutch skills are:
Curse of Doom: Physical + Magic Silence
Curse of Abyss: Decreases Speed, P.Def, Evasion, M.Atk, Casting Speed, and Critical Rate of Damage Magic
PvP has always been easy for me and the groups I PvP'd in because the players we fought against always loaded up on Anti-Dark buffs (for me, of course) and there are some fights where I didn't even cast one nuke (other than my servitor). Such a waste. Debuffs are clutch, nukes aren't. Most high end players have +4/5 jewel sets (or boss jewels) and can outpot most nukers unless it's an SPS or there are multiple M.Crits involved.
I seen a Titan run a Sorc out of MP yesterday and kill it, spamming CP Pots. My guess is that he resisted her Vortex multiple times, cause his run speed was > hers and all 77 Vortexes have at least -10% speed and Sorcs have -30% Atk speed (he was swinging uber).
Maybe I'm confused. Did you just sa the necro was gimp bec ause Silence and it's toast, but that nukers were not toast when silenced?
I must have read it wrong....
find 77+ ee, ask him/her buff self divine and unholy, then try to duel him/her. :)
Debuffs are not unholy element, they are M.Def resisted.
Curse Gloom takes care of that by totally cancelling out the Magic Barrier buff, and a little more :)
Gloom, Silence, Fear, Doom, Abyss, and Anchor don't care about about you Unholy Resist buff, or Divine/Elemental Protection. You need Warding, Magic Barrier, and to skip Berzerker Spirit if you really want to counter Necro Debuffs.
If you cannot consistently resist Curse Gloom then IMO you really don't have any business trying to 1v1 a Necro, especially as a Sorceror. Find some random Spellhowler to practice on, they won't [censored] your M.Def before they try to Silence you - and cast slower.
Mass Mage/Warrior Bane can be countered by getting buffs that are OE'd to increase (since many buffs end in B Grade levels).

Infernal Form > Sorcs. Too bad sorcs got only fire ^^
They are adding another song for Elemental Protection in CT1, btw.
But it's good you say that, more Sorcs can never be a bad thing - as long as the rerolls don't complain too much in Clan/Ally chat about how much they suck.
SH and Necro have Silence. Sorc vs SH or Necro = lose.
SpS & Sorc both lack a silence skill and have mana limitation issues. Sorc advantage is cancel, but if sorc is casting that, sps is getting off another 1.5 nukes. SpS is going to win (assuming in all cases, same level/gear/buff set).
Off topic, but I made the necromancer as people can see in my sig.
Im considering to make a EE for the shield and protections buffs, clarity and later on pow (gonna box it). Is this worth it..?
will I even be able to solo with pow around lvl 78ish?
Or will a SE be better in the long run? I kinda love the effect of pow though. I like soloing (bit of a "clan chat but no party person").. so I want either a SE or EE as duo :)
Since the new lvl limit later will be lvl 85, Im thinking ahead, so dont flame for "you gotta reach the lvl" and shiit please.
SE > EE. EE is good as a second buffer, but as a Necro I would go with a Prophet or even Warcrier. Clarity really just isn't that uber on a Necro becuase of Death Spike's low MP cost coupled with Recharge and Body to Mind (and MP pots if in an area like that).
You don't need heals in PvE (I hope) and in PvP there are too many things to do with a Necro to have to fiddle with another keyboard. I rather have a live healer with me (even an SE if played correctly, will work - Live of course).
EE bufs aren't that uber, unless the EE happens to be level 78+.
Im asking wether pow is worth it to lvl that EE up, or should I just go with a SE?
Will I actually be able to use the pow for solo purposes when Im say 79 with the necro and 78 with a EE?
Or would the SE be a better choice?
Or would even cov (warcrier) be the way to go?
Mind you, this question is for after 78... not up to 78.
And another thing... is it actually possible to solo after 78 as a necro? Reason Im thinking that is because of the upcoming lvl 85 cap. Im aware of that we dont know much about the upcoming hunting grounds, but a estimation?
Not using any heals whatsoever.. 2 clients on same comp, no dual screens.. so just the usual follow mode.
I wouldn't personally try CDLing with two clients on one computer though. It's just not good enough.
Sometimes you get unexpected agro and a Greater Heal can do wonders. I also find XP much more enjoyable when I can recharge on the go (F7 for Recharge, F8 for Auto Follow on the SE).
CDLing wiht two clients on one computer is just too dangerous IMO. If you get a lag spike it can mean -XP. And at the time that you will be CDLing as a primary means of XP gain... You will almost cry when you lose that 4%...
Necros and SH can solo wel up to at least 79 (I knew a Soultaker that soloed through 78 CDLing), but I don't recommend soloing past 78 (not many will, though, Lol). RL > Game and it's hard to stick to that when you are grinding for a noticeable gain daily at those levels.

aura flash is pretty useless anyhow, the target cancelling effect hardly ever lands even on classes with no mdef passive, and it's only gonna hit ur target at close range. as a 76 sorc i can tell you cancel nerf and aura flare nerf have made them both pretty useless in pvp also. only thing sorc is better then necro at is AOE. mass pvp, 1v1 pvp, raid, party, solo. Necro is better in all these categories.
Also, Resist Unholy is not reliable when you are S Grade fighting against S Grade targets because Dark Vortex (which has higher landrate than Fire Vortex due to Curse Gloom) will strip that buff right off.
I'm pretty sure that necro has no skill that remove unholy resists, only surrender to elements remove resist buffs. Maybe surrender to unholy (kamael skill) will remove unholy resist.
Im asking wether pow is worth it to lvl that EE up, or should I just go with a SE?
You only need a 58 SE. EE has much better pvp buffs and of course better and faster heals PvP/PvE. Clarity on EE and clarity on nuker is also a plus. You can always PR if you are in trouble CDL-ing... or better resurect skill if you die. A 78 SE is useless for nukers, a 78 EE isnt. EE is by far much better than SE in any way.

wow how did i miss that...
discuss
Curse discord: Confuses and enemy to attack it's ally (pretty funny)
Curse Weakness: Reduces enemy's p.attack
Curse Chaos: Reduces Accuracy
But know when to use the curses. I was done the accuracy debuff on me twice in a row from the same person and I play a sorcy.
To the one asking about buffer I'd say go EE and make an SE friend or buy empower scrolls.Pow is awesome :)
In all honesty if the necro has his summon out you're pretty much screwed... usually.
If he does not have it out (not sure why not, maybe he's half asleep) you stand a resonable chance I believe.
Or if you have the necessary dark buffs and he hits you for 200 then he's dead in most scenarios as most likely he's not protected against fire... :)
With full buffs and dances, the thing is uber, it has like 3.2k+ P.Atk Fully Buffed and like 210+ Critical Rate (MOB stats), which is quite high. It seems to get up to around a 35% or more Critical Rate, sometimes a string of crits which would lead you to believe it crits more than a stacked archer in full buffs/prophecy (but I don't think it does). Other than perhaps Unicorn Magnus, it is the best servitor in the game, it Can solo any other melee servitor easily given similar/same buffs.
Not eveyone has Fortitude toggle, or boss jewels.
And to call it beyond useless for PvP just illustrates how incredibly clueless you are. If that is the case, almost every summoner's Servitor is beyond useless for PvP because of those things you listed.
Also, I've seen Necros tank Vortex/Slug when other nukers were 2 shot by them.
I play sorc and I'll be the first to admit I get my [censored] kicked by an even leveled necro. Silence and whatever else skills they have are just plain old overpowered. We don't have overhit before you get vortex (lvl 77), we only get 1 vortex (compared to sps and sh's two) and all of our skills are more expensive in SP than any other nuker.
That said, however, I wouldn't trade my sorc for any other class caus I have tons of fun playing him. For pve there are almost no places with a high fire resist, its more the opposite actually and in parties, we have effective aoe skills. And its nice to play a class you don't run into very often.

But if you play for hardcore pvp, chose necro.
you have no idea what you are talking about.
first of all, dark and light vortex SUCK and are pretty much useless skills. so the we only get 1 vortex thing doesn't hold up. next if you suck so much that you let a necro get in 600 range to silence you, well you suck. Third vortex buster is OP. 4th volcano is OP. oh btw, Sorc has the LOWEST SP requirement for all skills of any class in the ENTIRE GAME.
learn what ur talking about first before you post.
Actually he's right, compared to the other nukers, the equivalent skills are considerably more expensive in terms of SP. The other nuker classes have more skills you say, so overall its different?
Sure, maybe they try to compensate it like that.
But for individual equivalent skills sorcerer's skills are more SP expensive.
And all nukers have "per skill per level" alot less SP required since they usually have a lot more skills to learn then other classes (see many of the fighter classes for example, let's not speak fo the dwarves since they are the best and worst example at the same time..).

Learn to play Lineage II, I say to you.
Necro can tank Vortex + Buster. I've seen it for myself. After the Vortex and Buster the Necro will just hit Elixir or CP and Elixir or HP and start spamming CP Pots. You very well can be pretty much at ground 0 with that. It is not hard to close the distance to a Sorceror/Arch Mage to cast Silence unless the Sorceror/Arch Mage crits Vortex or Buster, or maybe a nuke afterwards. The only thing you have to really worry about is having your Silence interrupted, which is pretty much not a big issue wiht full cast speed buffs and Concentration. Curse Fear may be a better choice of a debuff to cast before Silence, though.
Also, Dark Vortex Power may be weak, but the power isn't in its power rating. Dark Vortex is a very strong Drain skill. A Necro can cast Dark Vortex to drain and then later drain with Vampiric Claw if required. It's a very powerful skill.
You seem like one of those Necros who do nothing but nuke and have very little grasp on game mechanics.
I suggest you learn more.
All Elementalists get a 79 Nuke. It also wipes out their vortex so after the Necro tanks their Vortex/Buster they will have wiped out their Vortex debuff which reduces Cast/Run Speed.
Volcano is not a skill that can be used whenever you choose to use it. Plus, Necro gets Gahenna at level 80 which is basically the same skill, but Dark instead of Fire. Mystic Muse gets Raging Waves and Storm Screamer gets Cyclone. Learn something, much? Necro gets another fusion which, if done strategically, pretty much means the opposition should just BSOE off the seige grounds and wait for it to wear off. It's called Day of Doom...
Sorc stands a better chance now with Inferno being unlocked. It is more powerful than a Vortex and uses their Elemental Attribute (Seed and/or Weapon Fire P.Atk). Vortex-Inferno-Buster may be fast enough to negate much of the Necros high HP/CP/Elixir and CP Spam and give them the win.
But it largely depends on gear and a Necro needs much less of that to win than a Sorceror does - at those levels. Have you any idea how hard a Soultaker hits with 150 Dark Attribute after Curse Gloom?
because people don't bother to 2 shot the summon with normal nukes first right? (and then vortex+buster 2 shots the necro when summon has no hp)
it's extremely easy to beat a necro if you just know how to play. what skills you have don't mean everything.
and necros with 150 hit for a lot less than any other mage simply because everyone runs around with dark resist.
Don't you know that the resist buffs are pretty horrible? Do you also know that Dark/Divine stones are not a dime a dozen like Fire/Water. Their are mages on Bartz with maxxed Fire/Water Resist on Arcana Robes. There is one necro with an Arcana Robe set with 60 Fire and 60 Water on it (gonna be double next update, IIRC).
Surrender is useless to nukers when they have max attribute. Curse Gloom + Dark Vortex > just Fire Vortex. Gloom debuffs M.Def and is exemp from this. While Elementalists lose the damage gain from their surrenders, Soultakers don't. They still get a huge gain in damage from using Curse Gloom.
Also, Fire Vortex is off once the Arch Mage casts Buster. A Necro can tank Fire Vortex Buster and any mage that isn't horrible will not be trying to kill a Soultaker's Servitor when the Soultaker has them on target. People hardly try to kill Summoners' servitors these days, why the hell would you try to kill the servitor of a class that can do 10x the damage?
There is too many ways to shut a nuker down (Fear, Silence, Doom, Abyss, Bane, etc.). Interrupting Death Spike or getting an M.Crit is much more reliable than trying to kill a servitor.
Necro with Dark Stones will hit harder with Death Spike after Gloom and Dark Vortex than a Sorceror will hit with Prominence after Fire Vortex (because Surrender won't work with a 150 Fire Mace). The only thing Sorc has over Necro is Inferno and Fire Vortex Buster. As far as those go, I have personally seen Soultaker tank Vortex/Buster from an Arch Mage and kill the Archmage *easily*.
Don't argue with me about this. I know WTH I'm talking about.
Are you really that horrible?
Resist buffs have been pretty crappy since CT1 and the Dark resist on Frintezza and on S80 Armor will not be anything like the amount of Fire/Water resist that will pop up on armor now and in the future when they make them give more Resist. \_ please.
Arch Mage is the easiest nuker to kill on a Soultaker - for obvious reasons. I didn't say it was 100% loss (cause anything can happen, so much chance in this game), but it's certainly an uphill battle unless you catch the Necro off guard.
It's okay. Arch Mage should beat Soultaker 100% of the time next update if the change goes through that makes Death Spike a 65 Power nuke at max level. The only thing that will make Soultaker a better nuker than Spectral Master is Arcane Power and Curse Gloom.
Don't roll or sub a Necromancer until CT2 goes live in Korea and you find out whether or not they become a dead class in Lineage II.
...and necros with 150 hit for a lot less than any other mage simply because everyone runs around with dark resist.
Are people really giving up 2 buff slots for Unholy resist and Divine protection? Considering the horde of fire/wind/water augments out there, I would think Elemental protection & resist wind/water/fire would be the priority. And the same goes for stones on armor. Fire, water, and wind resist is the priority. This leaves the vast majority of players undefended against augmented dark attacks IMO.
BTW... I have heard of the 65 power cap for PS death spike. But where is this idea coming from that Necro death spike would be reduced? I guess it could happen. But I highly doubt it.

I really do love posting on this forum just to be insulted be an imbecile who think his reasoning is the truth. Ahh the ironi... your last two sentences in context are priceless. QED
The Necro will stand there doing absolutely nothing while you kill the summon. It will not nuke you, or debuff you, or garner more range. It will not fear you. It will not Anchor you. It will not Curse of Doom/Abyss/Slow you. It will just stand there to watch you kill the servitor and then BSOE.
Sounds like you play on a crappy server with crappy players.
%I'm guessing you only PvP them with Hero UD up???
Sorry for bumping this thread again, but I wanted to post :)
Sorc and necro are very different. I was betwen the same dilema when I was starting to play on retail servers before 2 years. I was offered by a real friend who had a sorc sub to start a necro cause the sorc had been a little boring according to my friend. After 2 years of experience in this game and beeing 79 lvl necro I would say that necro is very very different than any other nuker.
In pve part necro offers lots more opportunities to level - the nuking lvling, aoe groups and malee groups. The sorc is a bit limmited on nukes only but that is amazing AoE class. Sorc (a competent one) could lvl 1.5-2 times faster at the end game than necro if it has good gear.
In pvp both classes are good. Sorc is the faster killer but it has low survivabillity. Necro is a bit complicated in pvp and u have always different tasks what to do in one pvp according to your group. Necro can be a main targeter in a mage group, it can be debuffer, it can play a crowd control role (It was possible before the new combined buffs). We do not have to forget and the survivability of the necro. This class can go infront and take dmg/tank for its group in small scale pvps and even in large scale pvps. With the correct deffensive setup u can go straight for the enemie healers and try to debuff them and still survive. Also the summon - I know not many necromancers use it all the time (I dont play much with the summon too), but theoritically summons could be very helpfull to dmg enemies. Fully buffed corrupted man can support with ~extra 500 dmg per nuke which is not bad at all.
There are 2 2 things ppl like to say against the necro. Sorc has buster and usefull vortex. Well that makes the sorc better and faster killer. But in overal necro has gloom (imo the most powerfull curse) and 2 80 lvl Fussion skills that make the 80 lvl necro one of the most usefull class in sieges and mass pvps.
In 1v1 pvp as a necro I could say that I personally would say that I beat sorc in the most cases. If sorc and necro stay and fight straight 1v1 the necro has way bigger chances. If the sorc is trying to play smarted and include some kitting there is 50/50 chance.
In open olympiad necro is way better than sorc. lvl 81-82 necro with Antharas, Zaken, Frintezza and 150 Dark mace could beat almost every class with not much problems.
In open olympiad necro is way better than sorc. lvl 81-82 necro with Antharas, Zaken, Frintezza and 150 Dark mace could beat almost every class with not much problems.
True, true...But then again the same could be said for almost any class that well geared. Archer in full Draconic with OE'd Focus Draconic bow and boss jewels could crit the piss out of you and waste you in 2-3 shots. It's a crapshoot.
I will say this, though...A nuker without the dark magic (Silence, slow, and -to a lesser extent- health leeches) doesn't seem appealing to me. I've spanked MANY nukers thanks to silence, and many more thanks to the nice lil health boost from Dark Vortex.
Forget them both. Go Spellhowler. I hit like a frikken truck with a NASA rocket starpped on the back firing all the burners at once. Messy stuff.
In theory, it would seem like a Sorc's AoEs would be nice on a crowded siege field. Put 6 or 7 of them in a group, have them focus AoE's in an area, and provide suppressive fire, so they greatly weaken a bunch of the enemy, if they don't kill them all. Never tested it, don't know how hard their AoEs hit in PvP at 80. I'll be the first to admit I don't know everything, so it might be a terrible idea. Anyone tested this?

Trensharo... I only wish Necros would just stand there to let me kill them easily or BSOE... but no... they cheat by fighting back ;)
You do not watch my point. Yes the archer can do this too, but as an example I am not so well geared and I lose constantly only to Destroyers and sometimes to Phantom summoners. This geared archer u talking about is a 3 shot for my ungeared necro too.
I would disagree for the dark magic. The only usefull dark magic I have found is the vampiric claw in the olympiad matches. Dark vortex and any other "dark magic" (how u call it) is basically useless.
I havent fight against a good SHs in open oly yet (if we still talk about the olympiad matches), but I havent lost to any. Necro has double survivability and hits almost as hard as the SH cause of Gloom. The only difference is the vortex effect and the fast cast of Slug that gives u a bit better dps in the first 3-4 seconds.
Outside the olympiad stadium your theory is correct according to me. Btw I like ur Sorc theory too. That is going to be funny :)
Well I think anyone who keeps complaining about how overpowered necros are should look at gracia. You have to watch out for dwarves with summons who can roll you now. Heck, you have to watch out for an SE or bish, they can now pvp. PS's....those things are the new and improved necro, death spike, summons with ++++ stats...So lets take a break from complaining about necros :)

Are you speculating or have you tested the PS? I was considering it for my sub, and that might be good news for me. :)
So sorry for the bump of this post.. I just had to say...
The Sh comment with the rocket strapped to there back
LMFAO +1 for the SH!!!!
