I've got a PS going as a sort of side project. She has made it up to A grade and I want to start being able to PvP with her. Anyone have any suggestions on tatt set ups or weapon armour?
weapon is very optional, but there is generally 2 styles for a PS, melee combatant or straight summon support. i use the melee style and i like to have decent defence to fight along my summon.
here is my basic set up
armor: BW light (mostly +6, but still working on it)
weapon: dragon slayer +3 (no sa going health)
tats: +4 men / -4 int, +1 men / -1 int, +4 wit -4 int.
jewelry: unsealed maj set +3
summon preference: none really but i can use any of them effectively in pvp including nightshade as a partnership healing set up (macro set up for easy heals to both)
haste is popular for cubic fire rate, focus is always a good option (if ya can find a weapon u like with it, or can afford it) although there is alot of other useable options out there that no one thinks of, such as a weapon with magic para/root or other similar options.

In all honesty i hit lvl 76 before i got A armor, i used my DLE and doom light all the way there. (a Kriss before A grade). Honestly A grade light sets suck, hardcore. And robes are frankly inferior for soloing (real soloing not the 3 boxed buffer kind).
If you're going to be in pvp you'll want robes. Tallum is good and cheap. DC is much better. I keep a melee weapon ( a nicely augmented DLE) and an accumen weapon on me all the time. PVP wise the accu will really be the best for you.
For tats, +4 or 5 wit. If you pvp +4 con -str. The -con sucks for solo pve but it's nice in pvp. If you go +4 wit there are 2 good options for the third slot +4 dex or +4 int. If you have DC the _ dex isn't so fantastic. + int is good but which you shouldn't subtract int i personally feel that the extra cast speed helps me more.
Int doesn't add cast speed, that's what Wit does. Int only affects Matk. I suggest +4 Wit +4 Men / -8 Int then +4 Con -4 Str but that is purely optional if you want to PvP.

I didn't say it did. And if you want to PVP you won't touch your int. Hence the discussion i wrote as to the value of the extra +1 wit vs +4 int.

Maybe i'm just reading this a bit funny then, but I'm sure it says what you didn't mean. Anyways, I don't PvP on my PS. He is also too low lvl to use any Matk based skills, but for PvE I'd gather that <Int> isn't all that important.
I read within the context of the english language and found that what you wrote was confusing. I was merely trying to clear it up. Not trying to be argumentative, but I read that post 4 times, and it simply doesn't make sense. Might want to add context to apply it to, because it just looks like a bunch of random statements put together with no forethought of context.
Anyways, I'd say Int is not really important for PvE, or at least up to about the point you start getting actual spells that take advantage of it.
Thanks for the advice! I have actually been leveling in a group so I've been lucky in that respect. Also, I'm using a DC light set atm since I'm leveling in an area that is MUCH higher level than that toon. I have a +6 DC robes from my main so I can always switch those back and forth. It was the weapon that was giving me a harder time.
So the tatts are essentially the same ones as a mage, right?
Daggers are great if you can afford all the ss it takes to use them, but duels or weapons with health SA are also nice. You can basically use whatever you want. I am Ag and use Doom LA along with +7 Tsu*sls. Doom LA works very well (and looks cool :P) and is rather cheap compared to Ag light armors. None of the Ag LA seem to have very good bonus. Also, I use soulless to grind with, so the extra MP regen is a huge help.
+4 Men -4 Int and +4 Wit -4 Int is definatly the way to go. The last one you can do whatever, or leave it blank and keep the stats the game gave you.
