I'm New

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to say hi. I'm new to the game and was wondering if Lineage 2 is worth creating a brand new character on after its been out for this long. I'm on Kain just to practice and get a feel for the game, starting with a human fighter. It's funa nd all but I'm having difficulty finding a lot of quests on Talking Island. I'm doing the wolf pelts one (again) and currently attempting the werewolves and orcs one (tough at level 6). Anyway, I was just curious on your opinions and if you had any advice for a brand new player. Thank you for your time.

as a new player, if your NA based, just head to bartz for euro try franz or teon. those servers have the best population base. if your wanting to try servers that are still large but not the largest, I know hinde has a sizeable population as does devianne. but try posting any questions you may have (after using the search function) in the questions forum. plenty of good information there.
I think Erica is a great server. This is a great game, it has been out well over three years and is still getting stronger all the time, this should be your home.

it is.

and despite the lack of people in talking island, youll find that posting in these forums will give you a name that clans can reach out to. lots of clans love new players.

what is NOT worth it is NOT creating a new character. because this is unthinkable. and cheating.
Welcome to L2. The Beginning stages of the game, you will not see many players. Once you get past lvl 20 and into the bigger towns like Dion, you will see many more players. The best suggestion is getting into a clan sooner than later.
Nothing wrong with Kain, as for quests you can get a list of quests by opening your in game map. You can also look in the library section of the website. http://www.lineage2.com/Knowledge/quest.html

Don't forget to talk to the newbie guide and ask for support magic. Chances are that you have newbie travel tokens that will allow you to visit any other starting village for free as well.
KAIN FTW!!! WOOT WOOT!!!
We are on Devianne, and although it's a NA server, has a lot of European players.

We are a level 5 clan, working towards level 6 (about half way there) and as a previous poster has said, we LOVE new players. We run an academy and help all new members wherever we can.

Our members are an eclectic mix from USA, Canada, UK, Greece, Bulgaria and Norway.

Whatever server you go to, have fun :)
Welcome to Lineage 2.
Carry on as you are and get a good feel for the game and how to play your current char. You'll appreciate what it takes to get started without much help from others and the game will then become far more rewarding than racing to 40+ in five mins.
Talking Island is the Human starter area. All the quests there are low ebb stuff. The wolf pelt quest can get you a cotton top worth a nice 20k+. You can use the newbie tokens in your bag and talk to the newbie guide. They will teleport you free to the other newbie areas. Different scenery but much the same prospects. Dwarf ville, abandoned coal mines is worth a look and the Orc caves (forgot the name) is also worth a look at low level.
We have a Halowe'en event coming up and that will hopefully be fun and you'll get some money from it.
Go check the Gatekeeper near the church. She has a simple quest for a scroll. It will take you to Giran, a very busy town. Nothing around there for you to kill at your level but you'll see some life. To get back you need to see trader Galladucci in the luxury shop.

As for server choice. Ignore all the passionate pleas from server devotees. Choose a server with the best ping. I'm in England, yet play Hindemith. It has a ping around 96-103 but is very playable. It's player load is usually light to normal. Ping and load effect your gameplay in terms of possible lag, although its rarely an issue unless extreme issues are afoot.
I used to play Kain but that ping has increased for me so I can fight but get a delay or zero fire of soulshots, a sure sign of lag.

To sum up, play your char and get a feel for it. If you then feel you need to move to another server with a faster ping or more players in your timezone, you'll be able to make a new char with more confidence.

Good luck and congratulations for choosing Lineage 2 !

I think Erica is a great server.

Why? Unless you're high level there is little PvP (70+ really). Population is small and unless you are established it's just not a good experience.

Go to bartz, teon or franz. Hindemith seems to be doing well these days as well.

Get into a clans academy asap. They should be willing to help a real noob with gear. Even if it's just to lend out the gear (honestly who is going to pretend to be a noob to get NG equip? lol...). This should let ya start to grind faster and you can hunt 'til at least 25 in NG gear. Get's you some good adena to save for D :).

Try to stick to it. Really a lively clan spices this game up tons!
its worth it , if there is one thing this game needs more of it's
new blood and fresh faces.

hope to see you in game :D i'll be in Hindemith
Go to Bartz (NA), Teon or Franz (EU).

Please bear in mind that it's a hardcore game in terms of leveling and getting money. It takes many months to get to decent level and buy good items. Till level 20 it’s a pleasant journey, till 40 it’s quite easy. But later you will find that grinding gets hard and killing mobs doesn’t give you money for appropriate to your level items. Earning money in this game is as difficult as getting to high levels. You can’t buy your weapons and armor past grade C only by killing monsters. So read some tips on making money in this game: http://boards.lineage2.com/showflat.php?Number=920391

Be patient, don’t despair, don’t compare your items to other players’ items, don’t bother about someone’s riches, don’t complain because of bots, don’t start other chars. Every class in game has its strong and weak points. If you think that you have chosen the weakest class, believe me it’s not true. Some classes are harder to level or need a group, but once you get to higher levels you will understand the value of your class.

If you are patient enough and play the game for a decent period, it will bring you a lot of joyful moments in return. You will get to know many wonderful people, make new friends. This game will let you realize your own strong and weak points, help in real life management, teach you patience and sense.

Take time and the game will reward you.
