??Which One??

Ya, when they finally do this server transfer i'm thinking Kain really isn't what it use to be. It's changed alot in the past few years. If anyone has any opinions on which server is a good one to go to and why please respond. I'm looking for a server that has good player interaction and good pvp. thx :)
I hear Vina is looking for new blood on Erica ;)
Everyone's going to say their own server, so this isn't really a good question to ask. The question to ask would be "tell me a bit about your server" and the place to ask it would be in the specific server forums.

wut lol. I'm so outta this server when xfers come in.

negative, i asked for which server and a reason why. also i'm sure plenty of people will be changing servers and some have tried mulitple ones. Also, someone from gustin can say they have a good population and bartz could say the same thing, doesn't tell me who's population is higher tho does it? maybe Alyra can put up a poll on which server people plan on going to during the change???.. . . . idk i'm just askn on this post to get a general answer, doesn't mean i'll base my opinion 100% on this thread :p
Wait a couple of months to see. We don't even know if all servers will be selectable or not and what restrictions will be placed.

But if I had to choose...
I say Bartz for NA, Teon for European players.
2nd choice of Hindemith for NA and Franz for European.

Bartz is an obvious choice. Hindemith is second because it is the only other NA that sometimes shows "Normal" and not "Light"
Teon has more history and is nicely populated. Franz is kinda controversial because I hear a lot of the high level people used "alternative" means to get up there. I also hear more good things about Teon then Franz.
Putting a poll up asking what server people are going to migrate to would be a disaster. The result would be that people check the results before voting and use that to base their vote on. You can guarantee one server would eventually be discontinued since everyone decided NOT to migrate there.

negative! theres no way they would make the servers unable to be chosen seeing as so many people (like myself) have bought and constantly played the game with RL friends...so we should move to a server with them right?

EXACTLY! so wouldn't that solve our problem with needing to merge servers? honestly. . .l2 population seems almost dead compared to the c2/c3 times
We've had new servers since C2. Add the total active player numbers together and I'm sure there are more than there were back in C2.
ha! well then apparently kain is just the only server to die down huh? i know there are other servers and i remember people leavn kain for those servers. so if anything it spread us through out the servers a server merge would be excellent, i'm sure i'm not the only one to agree
Hell we'd all LOVE a server merge... but NcSoft wants money... they don't want us to be happy
we dont want u :>
haha thats my plans kain use to be THE BEST (at least in my opinion) in pvp. now it's dead, trust me i'd rather merge servers than leave kain completely :(
We don't need a server merge, we just need people to collaborate. Over time people will migrate as they see fit and eventually a server merge won't need to happen because the number of players will be 0. "Which servers would you merge and why?" would be the questions asked to the developers. "What makes those two servers different from the rest?". "How would it effect the economy?" and the big one...

"Who keeps the castles, clan halls, player/clan names, hero statuses. Why do they keep it? What makes them any better than the person who loses it?"

Merges are NOT fair because there can be no reasons what-so-ever for someone to lose out on something because of a merge.
LOL the same can be said to server transfers. It's not fair because the people that invested in a clan hall/that own a castle will have no choice but to leave it behind.
people won't just move.. . . it's one thing to loose a castle, it's another thing to reroll to a dif server if ur lvl 7x. If some looses a castle and can't take it over, chances are they woulda lost it anyway. it would effect economy and stuff but the economy will always fix itself. what if during the server change it leaves one server almost empty?
It's inevitable that one sever will be left empty. All it will take is the reigning few alliances to move servers and the economy will fail resulting in everyone else moving too. The relocation of one major clan would be make or break for a server. Either another clan steps up and takes their place as #1 or the place falls to bits and the server left useless.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind if I was left in an empty server - less idiots to ruin the game for me ;)
now for the server that had almost everyone leave, like u said earlier. . . wouldn't be unfair for the ones with castles and stuff?
It's their choice to leave, no-one's making them. If they want to leave the server and lose their castle, that's a choice they make themselves. If the clan leader was to leave and take people with him, I'm sure he can transfer the clan ownership over to let someone else keep the castle. If, however, there are very very few people left on the server, owning a castle isn't really going to be that grand.
not having a clan hall is goign to be the main reason you won't see alot of clans move

Another thing to keep in mind is that people are assuming you can transfer to "any" server you want.

From what I've seen of other games (not that L2 will have it's server transfers like this but 'just sayin') the game company restricts where you can transfer to and from.

So, it might not be possible for everyone to go to Bartz ;)
Or they may implement a load balancing system where you are only permitted to transfer to a server with fewer active accounts. This would fend off the idea of servers becoming extinct.

I can see many flaws in this myself, but don't flame me as it's not a suggestion, simply a thought.

One of my server's heroes was bragging about having ebayed 2 Aden clan halls on the destination server. The really tip-top players of lin2 have special abilities that allow them to succeed anywhere. :p

ok, seeing as we went off subject does anyone want to answer my origional post?

lol, sorry friend, that's specious reasoning.

You don't know if they are going to open every server up. Just because one wants it or thinks it should be done doesn't mean it will be done.

Me personally, if I was one to change servers (which I'm not) I would go to Bartz.

The lure of a larger population and more established clans (or the chance to create new ones) would be more than enough. I've since learned that populated servers are really a good thing in a game where interaction is important.

Of course, the downside is that you might be fighting over hunting grounds. Or is that an upside? Only you can make that decision.
