Monk/Tyrant opinions for a new player?

Orc Classes Started Last reply 6 posts
First let me start off that I am just returning from lineage after leaving in 2004. So, I'm not a complete noob, I just have no clue how much has changed. I previously played a HE up to 49 and did not really enjoy the playstyle. I hated the mp for arrows and the amount of downtime for mp regen. This is why I've decided to play a toe-to-toe melee class, and Tyrant looked to be a good choice.

I'm starting over on a new server, not completely broke due to the cash from the current event (Should have enough to outfit in Top/2nd Dgrade). So, what I want to ask is, is monk/tyrant a viable choose for a first character? I've heard yes and no, but not really any reasoning. I've already made up my mind to play a Tyrant, I just would like to know what I'm in for if it's going to be an uphill battle.

The second question I have is, are there any good guides for 20-40 as a monk? I could only find higher level guides for tyrants. What I'm looking for is light vs heavy armor, grinding (xp and adena) spots/strats, and any other info a young monk could find useful.

I have tried finding info on the web, but since I have been away for so long, it's hard for me to tell what is up to date and what isn't. I haven't been able to find a good fansite that looks to be up to date.

Any help/info is appreciated. I'm looking forward to my life as an orc. :)
it will be very up hill.

toe to toe, try the Gladiator. it does similar damage but with the added bonus of actually CRITTING instead of burning shots.
You seem the Orc type...

The question i have is are you a fight with your fist letting the blood splatter type of person... Or a heavy armor freight train swinging massive steel?
I'm the latter. I really enjoy the speed and accuracy of the fist weapons. I thought of destroyer, but the slow attack speed didn't appeal to me.
then i sugest you get to know your marketing ploys. tyrant grind before 68 is very costly. you have to hunt with EITHER shots, OR GHP. sometimes (in catas) BOTH. with VR+bear, high OE fist, and haste/rsk haste you should be able to deflect the cost of the HP for your Fist Fury toggle, just make sure you only hunt duo'd in a catacomb. duo'd will net you more exp and drops. soloing in a catacomb means hunting aggro-only mobs that dont drop stones. its simply too many mobs to hunt solo.

duo. so get a partner for life. SE preferred. WC is accptable, but SE can recharge. and youll need it.
I solo on my tyrant where the hell I feel like soloing...he goes wherever....i do have a two box se just for buffs, and he doesnt need anything else. I prefer puma and i just smoke through any mobs I can find. I have not died yet with rsk haste + fist fury + puma. Ill have to see what happens when the higher lvls come...not sure I will be able to do that anymore.

My Titan however....can no longer solo in catas with the se, he needs a 58+ bd with him or hes just toast.
