Not that whether I stay or go matters one tiny bit within the political structure of the server...but... no, Erica is my home and that's where I will stay.
I'll wait and see what the penalties/costs are before considering moving servers. I don't intend to pay a penny more than my monthly subscription if I in any way lose out on resources or items.
Im staying as well.
The only thing im really looking forward in their paid services is the ability to split my SE to a seperate account or something. If i can do that, it will be enuff.
Not planning to use the name or sexe change options.
I switched servers once (see signature) so I have a lot of old friends on my previous server. It's something I will investigate and decide on depending on who's still playing/what they're up to/what my future on my current server looks like. Don't care half a [censored] about which servers suck and which are "best", as long as I'm with friends and the correct amount of inter-alliance conflicts.
It's unlikely. Obviously I've gained a lot of friends on this new server, so changing back would be a bit self defeating.
Even though I'm euro, I must admit that I preferred NA siege times. I'd rather stay up/get up way after midnight than having an obligation every other saturday evening where I prefer doing other stuff.
250 ping sucks though, compared to the 60-80 I get to euro servers.
Will probably name change. The one I wanted was originally taken when I chose this name, but is available now and I claimed it on an alt. It was nice having the same forum handle as my main, but not a big deal.
Might sex change, but unlikely. I'm male irl and get highly uncomfortable if someone assumes I'm female. I usually choose female avatars simply because I find them more visually appealing and am not a roleplayer. I find male WL animations kinda awkward, and only reason I'd change would be if I got sick of correcting people every time they assumed I'm female, which isn't really a common occurance atm.
Edit: Wow, you can't say the three-letter word ending with "*it"? Guess I have a potty mouth.
I am willing to bet that most people who transfer because 'the grass is greener on another server' will regret it. Perhaps many of those transferring for time zone reasons will be happy.
definitely need to know limitations before taking a decision.
under ideal circumstances, i d move to a euro server but i dont think NC will allow transfers light --> heavy status servers.
i read somewhere that in Asia that transfers are already taking place for some time now, they dont allow transfers towards a medium/heavy server (plz dont ask for source, my memory is totally unreliable cause of age :p ).
in this case i dont think server transfers will have much success in NA. who wants to move to an empty server after all?
Yea, it depends on the costs and rules. It is my plan to move multiple characters (my buffers are lonely on Dev where I dont play). Glad it will save me the trouble of re-leveling them on Lionna.
Honestly alot from Lionna already left, and those saying they'd stay arent in the current power house clan anyway but one of the many neutral's who basically cant compete.
I'd guess its the same with alot of the people saying they'd stay on the dead servers, but you watch, alot will move off of them.
If you were on say Gustin and wanted to move, you woudnt risk moving to another "light" server, you'd move to a heavy server so you KNOW it woudnt be dead. Just simple logical thought really.
Thing is unless all my toons above 40 can come with me along with all the wealth I've accumulated I won't move.
I've worked to hard for the money and equipment I've made and found. I also know 40 doesn't sound like a high level but it's enough of a time investment for me to care.
but if I was on say: Erica, Kain, Lionna, Gustin, I would deffinetly switch off them! None of these servers have once hit normal in the last 7 months!
So what?
We're playing for different reasons. Pretty much anyone I'd be interested in playing L2 is already on Lionna, and the ones that aren't are on Devianne and might move here anyway.
None of these servers have once hit normal in the last 7 months!
How do you know that?
I don't make up nothing rum punch.
I know that cause every time I log in which is usually twice a day all those servers say light.
Only ones I've seen hit normal or heavy is: dev, hidmith, bartz, teon, franz, sometimes sieg. Bartz is normally always normal, sometimes heavy, teon/franz is almost always heavy.

In part, though I try very hard to never agree with (lol), you are exactly correct.
Watching various ubers leave Lionna has been a pleasure for me and I think many others.
The server isn't worse off without them. As long as the castles stand and fortresses exist and people log onto the server, opportunities will be there for SOMEONE.
Lionna hasn't exactly been served by the "perpetual uber" supremacy in the first place! (lmao).
There is such a thing as being too good and destroying everyone else.
You mention neutrals and others who can't compete--we'll forgo the obvious rejoinder to that comment. But non-Lionnans should know that essentially NO ONE but a couple ubers and one large neutral can compete.
As the ubers on Lionna rush off to play where ever, the server left for the rest of us won't be 'worse'---it'll just be populated by less top-end toons.
If you told me all of WhiteOrder, or LittlePigs disappeared to a new server tomorrow, AFTER I stopped dancing for joy, I would immediately begin checking out the political landscape to see where I might fit in the NEW orders that would arise.
I'll bet players stay on Lionna cause there has to be one NA alternative to Bartz. In fact, I'll bet people transfer TO Lionna precisely because it HAS a loyal core that is very large and they'll have a chance to compete.
My low lvl 60 DA isn't able to compete with those on Lionna at present. But those 80's toons will leave to go somewhere and I say "cya!" with a big smile on my face. I hope for 2 things--that they find people EXACTLY like themselves and that they can never transfer that toon back to Lionna (lol).
Now, i am not moving, but speaking from Bartz only, don't you all be thinking that clan halls are just going to go up for sale.
I was told of yet anohter clan hall on Bartz where the leader is gone, but left some ungodly amount of adena in the clan warehouse with the options turned off. Basically, enought for 4 to 5 years.
If I were to move and I owned a clan hall, I would be very likely to headge my bets and try to keep it. Besides, since the rumors are you will only move one toon per account, that still leaves a few others left on the origional server that can use the resources you have amassed.
I think, by my count, that is at least 4 known clan halls that are out of the game for at least the next few years. :(
A server having "light" status doesnt have a very large core ;)
Well, technically, you and I can't know that can we?
As I've said before--the server indicates general accounts logged in...........
10 players with 10 accounts equals a count of "10"
5 players with 2 accounts each equals a count of "10" (though only 5 people are playing).
1 player running an illegal bot train of 7 toons and 1 guy with 2 additional accounts (3 total) equals a count of "10" though only TWO people are playing.
I've played on Bartz, for example, and there are TONS more bots than on Lionna. TONS! If that's where the "normal" count comes from I'll pass.
The facts are that even to me it appears there are move moving toons on Bartz than on Lionna. I'll freely grant that. But we don't know for sure that it's 50% or 100% more PLAYERS. No one knows. It could be 2000 on Lionna and 3000 plus bots on Bartz.
Lol--it could be 1500 players on Lionna, 1510 players on Bartz plus 4000 bots!

Not to side-track - but is messed up - I know it has been discussed before - but there should be something done about that.
If I could move my HE to a diff account (that I own) then I wouldn't mind bringing it over to Franz with me. Then I could box my bd and lvl up the HE again.
I think, by my count, that is at least 4 known clan halls that are out of the game for at least the next few years.
Thus why, for the love of freaking god, if a clan leaders account goes inactive or gets banned, the clan hall should immediately be put up for resale and the money deposited into the CWH a month after hes gone.
Would it hurt a few people? Sure.. but I know for a fact that the majority of clan halls across every single server are owned by clans that do not exist or are inactive.
I would like to transfer a few of my alts to some of these other servers, just to meet and hunt with a few of the names on here.
I may or may not attempt that, but my main will be here on the Bartz server. I still have high hopes of hitting hero status before the end of this decade - woot.
About a month or so backbI did my server transfer the old fashioned way, by re-rolling. Now I'm more than happy with my new home on Lionna, and intend to stay there. :D

Reports on my server are that one of our top alliances has already arranged to purchase a couple of those Aden clan halls on Bartz. hooray for paypal :p

Hi Matsu,
I hope you don't mind me saying so, but you looking at the server login screen twice a day and seeing 'light' does not mean that other servers are "always light" as you stated earlier. The load on servers will vary from time to time, right?
Lets say that you look at the login screen showing server load for 30 seconds each of the two times you log in. You are seeing it for one minute a day. Given 60 minutes an hour and 24 hours a day, that means that you are looking at the screen for about 1/1440th of the time.
That is why I said that you 'make up facts'. Wouldn't you have to look at that screen all the time every day to KNOW as a FACT that the other servers are always light?
As an aside, even if a server was always 'light' that doesn't imply that there is anything wrong with that server or that it isn't delightful to play on. While some people may perfer a heavily populated server, might not other people prefer a less populated server? Having some servers lighter than others is a good thing since it gives players more choices in their play environment, I believe.
Thanks, RP
PS I have seen Erica and others 'Normal' within the last few weeks.

You probably know thats not entirely true.
If you look at the login screen twice in one day you couldn't really make any assumption from it (unless it was on heavy)
but he 's been looking at it twice a day over a long period of time.
It could be that he's been on while the server was dead, but it would still be relevant to him, as thats the time he plays at.
Now I have logged in at all times of the day, from 8am in the morning to 4am in the night (thats the 20 hours between i'm talking about, not the 4), and apart form sieghart, bartz, franz and teon i haven't seen any server on normal, except for 1, but i forgot which one it was, and it was only for a couple of hours, until i logged in again, and it was back down to light.
franz and teon are almost always heavy, bartz is almost always normal. sieghart is light normally, but normal more often thant the other "light servers".
Ill be staying on devianne would like to see character transfers from one account to the other that would be the only thing i use so that i can get the fiances toon off my account onto her new account ^^

Agreed.
I typically play about 6-10 hours a day give or take and login multiple times throughout the day (character changes, crafting, diffrent buffers/dancers, etc) and the "big 3" are the only ones you see above light normally.
Once in awhile you'll see Hindemith up at normal, mostly Euro times is when you see that (early morning).
You can argue that some like light servers, but trying to argue that those servers are almost always light is a dead argument, you cant possible win since its just not true.
Once transfers get here it'd be nice to get info from NC about how many accounts are active on each server. You could call an account "active" if it's logged into that server at least once in the last week. Then instead of arguing which servers are near vacant, we'd have empirical truth.

/signed
I'd like to see some designation of what 'active' means and some relative calculation of the soulless on a given server. Having 8000 accounts where 4000 are 3rd party program-run would not be my first choice in server.
Im sticking with Gustin to be honest, I really like it there. Hope all other people have fun where they choose to go off to and cool to see new faces pop up on Gustin.
Well Me, Myself & I that is to say my 3 char ingame...lol Have always stuck with the default server, i always assumed that each server is basically the same, only difference would be the players that play on it...lol
Is there a difference in servers? and if yes then what makes them so different to the others?..
Don't be stupid please. Of course I can only compare the spots where I have been on all those server (which means up to lvl 50 places). But I thought readers where wise enough to make that out. Seems not everyone though.
Yes, you can only COMPARE those spots. And even then, the amount of bots change depending on the time of day, events, market balance and various other things. Unless you're able to be online 24/7 for a long period of time on all the servers, your comparisons will not be an accurate measure of the amount of bots. At best, they will be weak assumptions made with a small sample of empiric data.
You should be working for NCSoft, did you know that?
Nobody needs accurate measure. And I log in often enough at different time. Anyway, believe what you want, I'll keep saying Teon and Frantz have more bots than others simply because it's what I saw.
On the other hand, I doubt NCSoft will let anybody transfer to a heavy server. No, I have no proof, this is just an assumption of mine (and I really hope they won't).
If you wanna see what the RMT/farmer situation is, a reasonable proxy is to google up one of the many places that trades in it.
Those servers with higher prices represent those with the "healthiest" markets for RMT. If the prices go from $.47 (Devianne) to $.58 per million (Teon & Franz), that tells ya where the smart profarmers will set up their trains, and also suggests where the biggest ebayer populations are.
Well, if you're over it, why obsess about it so much as to go dig for additional info?
Cuz people were debating the validity of server status on the login as a measure of fullness.
Cuz people were debating how infrequently US servers leave the light.
Cuz when 8 of the 10 show "light" it doesn't tell you which are vacant versus almost-vacant.
and I guess cuz digging for more/different ways to measure something is a way of life for me.
Good grief, how does 'will you transfer' become 'how populated are servers (via light, normal, heavy) and who has more bots'?
I think the main reason people will choose to do transfers (and yea, most arent going to be posting here, loads will transfer I suspect) is because they are sick of the people that ARENT bots on their server, or they already rerolled to another server and want their original toons to join them. Bots and server load have no weight in the decision I made, hopefully others as well.
Aye, there's been more than the usual nay-saying about Bartz, Teon and Franz. Ironically, the 3 servers which got most votes on Blah on the topic of where to go...
I just hope NC will allow transfering even to heavy servers, to allow all the europeans wanting normal siege/manor times a chance of having that.
Good grief, how does 'will you transfer' become 'how populated are servers (via light, normal, heavy) and who has more bots'?
Because those people on dead servers are extremely worried that the only people they'll have to play with after transfers are bots...
Since C3 I've not had problems with the profarmer bot trains, never been unable to finish a quest or find a productive hunting spot. The bots just don't matter to me.
But this is a social game.
Let's face it, if lin2 were a single-player game on your Xbox or playstation, none of us would have played past d-grade.
Lin2 is more community-based than other mmorpgs, as not only your clan, but other clans, influence your in-game life. So it's not the bots coming or going, but the other players that make me uneasy about the future with server transfers (and name-changes, but that's another thread).
To me it's not just how many players are around. Obviously you need enough to party, raid, siege, etc. But also the quality of people that come or go matters the most.
E.g., Ultima Online was pretty cool. But over time, naturally the number of players decreased. What also happened is all the cool people went to EQ, and all that was left was unpleasant dimwits and jerks. And then the same thing happened in EQ...
I like my current server (Sieg) a lot, because for the most part, even the people I don't like are still pretty cool. If that changes for the worse, I'm not gonna want to play anymore.
All servers have bots. All servers have ebayers. Get over it.
Nay, I will not get over it.
Every time a player logs into L2 they click 'Agree' to the Eula. If they do so with the intent of botting, ebaying or otherwise cheating then they Lied when they clicked 'Agree'.
Lying is unethical behavior. It bothers me. If I were to "get over it" that would imply that I have lowered my moral standards to the point where I accept lying as OK. I sincerely hope that I never sink that low.
hmmm... RP i do think you misinterpreted the "get over it" part ...
by "getting over it" you accept that unethical and immoral behaviour is natural, and will show itself regardless of what the EULA states. its not condone-able, and not acceptable, but its going to happen; and unfortunately in some cases it will take a while to stop.
But here's a way to think about it. I dunno which sports you play, but they all have rules. Technically, when I play my sport (soccer) no one is s'posed to hit me, according to the rules. But, the smart footballer still wears shin guards.
Baseball has an official strikezone. But I've never seen an ump that doesn't call it shorter and fatter than it's s'posed to be. You can $%^& and moan about those outside balls getting called strikes, but if you don't swing at em, you're still gonna get struck out.
so, whether we want it or not, server transfers are coming :p but will you use the service? (i believe it's only once right?)
this isn't the place for complaining about it at all, i just wanna know if you plan on switching servers
me? i may bring my Gladi from Gustin to Hindemith :)
Hinde eh? Hah, i may know the perfect home for you then :P lol
as far as ontopic.. Will i change server? It depends entirely on what my other half decides to do, if she stays, so will i, if she moves, so will i. She is the matriarch :P
For me is a great oportunity to move my first toon from devianne to Gustin(with all the gear and the adena i gather there),and make my life easier on my curent server.

i'd bring my Gladi over cuz i have two Sls on hindemith that i would make B duals out of :p
when i officialy moved totally to hinde, my brother took all my gear on Gustin, then gave it awaaayy when HE left >.< (he helped to get it and all...but he just gave it awwaayyy! >.<)
Good grief, how does 'will you transfer' become 'how populated are servers (via light, normal, heavy) and who has more bots'?
Because those people on dead servers are extremely worried that the only people they'll have to play with after transfers are bots...
So you try to discredit the big 3 by saying "Oh its just bots" hoping that no one will transfer there and leave you all alone in the lurch.
Actually Ashane that isn't at all my purpose for pointing out my opinion.
I constantly hear about how many PLAYERS are on Bartz--as if it's the only valid NA server.
I have 5 d-grade toons on Bartz and anytime I'm on them (I also still have d-grade toons on Lionna), it looks to me that there are more bots on Bartz than Lionna.
Naturally then when someone posts "Bartz has the most PLAYERS" I'm going to consider raising the point that "heavy" might not necessarily mean many more "players".
But you've still gotten my stance wrong. I have no fear whatsoever that somehow too many people will leave Lionna. I'm COUNTING on many ubers leaving Lionna--can't wait for them to go as a matter of fact.
Contrary to your opinion here, I'll stay on Lionna as long as it's active if ANYONE else logs on--and we'll figure out how to have fun playing L2.
However this transfer business unfolds, I sincerely hope that many top Lionna players leave and aren't replaced by uber ******* adrift from other servers.
Lmao--I think justice will be served when 1,500 cheating ubers from all 10 servers land on Bartz!!! My only hope is that no one will be able to transfer a toon twice--lol.
Quite right, DPS. That is because players cause bots. Not all players, but players who ebay/buy etc are the reason bots exist. If we got rid of the cheaters then we would virtually eliminate bots.
Would there be less players? Sure. Would we miss the cheaters? Not really. Would the game be better? Yes.
I'm already well at home on a new server (Gustin) and will bring my toons from Hinde over as soon as transfers are avail.
As for server population? Personally, I prefer a server that's not "heavy". As for Gustin being "light" - I don't know what the pop is required to be at each level (light, heavy, normal, etc), but I know I see tons of private shops in Giran, I see people out and about pretty much anywhere I go.
There's always banter going on in Hero and Shout. Frankly, whether there's 1k, 2k or 10k on at one time, I'm only ever going to interact directly and/or group with a small fraction of them in my time anyway (random encounters notwithstanding)
From my experience, all I need to see are 2 or 3 good sized clans/allies with some healthy warring going on and even a "light" server can provide all the excitement I could ever want, and without worrying about over-crowded hunting spots.
transfer where? to some peaceful server without a population to get some xp.
transfer for? for loosing most of stuff i have.
transfer why? don't know. so, i stay there...
