I pvp if someone keeps KS'ing me after I politely ask them to stop.
Reds and purps I leave alone. I figure its not my fight. I will help a friend in need though, so if I see someone I know getting chased, I will step in. I'm not into the points thing, more principle.
PvP when clannies are being pvp'd pk'd by the wrong reasons (not their fault).
Or when some [censored] are being a ****** about my hunt spots or whatever issue.
However I will not PvP if the attacker clearly is gank-PvPing or if facing a gank-squad.
Aka I will BSOE (if I have 1 one me) on my SSaint against a ranged attacker or gank-squad when I am solo'ing, cause that just a free PvP-point/clan-point for the attacking side.
PvP-points don't interest me neither much like my previous poster.
I don't need a reason to PvP or PK anyone, nor do I expect anyone to have a reason to do the same to me.
Often, after exping for 3-4 hours, I'd just stop exping, and start flagging on everyone that's been lvling around me... trying to get some pvp out of them :) I found the best results are when I flagged on multiple people in front of eachother... they seemed more likely to fight back if it they had more people. Fun for me though, I enjoy 1v3's.
That's the great thing about being wartagged with 90% of the server, you can kill most players without red and XPing is never boring since you gotta constantly watch your back for enemy.
i pvp and pk all the time, this game is based mainly on pvp. If someone griefs me or a friend i don't hesitate to drop them. Different levels never really stoped me either, i don't really care the level. But most of all my favorite way to get pvp points is to hunt for permareds :)
In the past, I've PvP'd when there was a red killing lower level characters. When there were bots taking a space I wanted. When someone was being a jerk and stealing my drops. I have jumped in to help defend a friend.
In general I fall into the 'care bear until pushed' category.
My pvp points have either come during a war or when defending a hunting site.
I've pvp'd to kill reds but of course no point for that one.
I've pvp'd to defend a clanmate or in retaliation over a clanmate or friend.
I'm not a huge fan of griefing and when I get bored I look to the market.
I'd like to say I pvp during seiges but mostly guys like Siccus just kill me during seiges so I don't think I've actually lasted long enough to hurt anyone there :)
I had more pvp's on my lvl 25 dwarf (http://scrap.5elements.net/l2screens/tarinnoob.jpg) (spear on single targets reprazent) than I did on my WL at 60 x.x
It's largely due to me making the dwarf on teon just a little after it started, so I was riding that initial wave of "highest level players" and when pvp ensued I usually had enough levels behind me to stay competitive. I usually got a few +1's during sieges spamming whirlwind when most people were still in d-grade.
On my WL I'm at my best stunning instead of trying to be a DD, I won't attack a stunned priority target, save wrath or howl if applicable. My pvp score isn't exactly something I tell the chicks at the bar about.
Never really saw the value in pvp scores, considering how easy they are to produce with a friend or box, so no matter what I have I'm either "omg less than 1k" or "no way can you get that without farming an alt". Or both. I don't think WL would be my first choice if I was after +1's.
Edit: As for why and when I pvp, having been at war with a good portion of the server for several chronicles it kinda comes by itself. Not going to spend 300k on saving 0.4% (got 2 bsoe's from some event in C3 which are still sitting in my wh), and would rather go down burning while doing an academy alt to make up for it. Putting up a decent fight while being outmatched gives me a greater buzz than getting the +1 from a solo guy my party killed.
Last time I "PvPed" was when a pp that healed someone while they were fighting a dark blue to the pp boss, got silenced and asked me to kill him...
Sieging seems fun, but I'm definitely not gonna become of those ahaaawesoume pvpers that have 2k pvp points(wooohooo) or whatever, if i get pvp points it's fine, would be fun to have some pvp fights to the death with some people, but pulling stupid tricks in catas just for some points that won't give you s**t is stupid, rather pointless, aka [Censored] enlarger...
Oh, yes, as jkoster said I'd definitely pvp for a clan mate or a friend, or if someone annoys me enough.
Example: When some idiots come to cata 20 minutes after you and blurt out "This is my room so ... I'd rather fight them over it than just leave...
I was leveling an alt in Cruma Marshlands when some newbie toon comes along to steal my Adena. I told him if he asked I'd let him have it but he kept picking up so I 1 shot him. He came on his 4x SH in Karmian with a +10 Homu and tried to gank me when I only had 20 Karma left to work off so I told him hold on a Second and he left, but I ran the 7x Necro over just in case.
He was talking alot of smack in shout, so I told him to come over. He sent me a PM and said he's getting on his uber alt to come own me. I logged to Trensharo and he shows up on this 4x SH for me. He stood there talking smack a bit, and I figured it wasn't worth it, so I double clicked a Scroll of Escape.
While I was SOE'ing, he nuked me and it failed for 1 damage. I pressed Escape, targetted him, and hit him for 1.5k damage and he BSOE'd.
I LOL'd. BSOE @ 4x?
Yes, I kill people who are rude and don't ask to pick up, even if the piles are only 100-200a each and I don't need them (and would leave them there anyways).
I don't PVP because I think I'm better than someone.
/Agree
That is unless they are running around saying they are better than me.
Was nice to kill a level 72 Gladiator at level 63 with no buffs or Transfer Pain. Lol, he begged me to not kill him after I anchored him; but, being the better player I could not let him live to tell another story.

It's a class skill, it has a purpose. Knowing how and when to use it (like when you're unbuffed and probably don't have a summon out to catch your damage) is a good knowledge.
That being said, a 59 SE dropping a 65 Necro? Yeah. That's tactics.

The thing with Destroyers like you is, THEY are the ones who start crying when you simply outrun Frenzy for 90sec and THEN try to pvp them back ;)
The thing is, I'm still used to the original Frenzy time mostly. I also know what my other skills do and carry a weapon for all my skills unlike some random newb Destros who pop up from the woodwork.
We have high damage skills for a reason. We have stun for a reason. And having a TK with you helps ^^
I don't know who started the rsk haste dagger hype for Destroyers, but it spread pretty fast. I think it's either one of the Bartz or Sieg Titans... they released their movies pretty short from eachother, after which every noob that I saw in the arena started running around with rsk haste daggers. Nowadays people who aren't even Destroyers do it too :p (sometimes Haste Angel Slayer).
But their are plenty classes who can simply outrun a Destroyer after they activated all their hocus pocus. It's really very obvious to know when you should run :p Tyrant anyone? Prophet? EE? DA?
Obvious perhaps, but still many people fail to recognize even the class I am. Or what class some Human turned Destro is. Very many dont know what animation is for what skill ^^
Lol, but seriously, theres no point for pvp points that i know of, just like the raid points, so i don't do anything to get em. Besides ima dwarf at heart, and who would wanna attack us cuties? >.>
I pvp when there is a reason.
I pvp when there is no reason.
I pvp in every chance.
I pvp the first flaged toon I see even its not a wartag.
I pvp pvp pvp pvp ...

My paladin lvl 57 11 pvps / 1 Pk all bot related amazing what they will start when you train them for a week straight :)
I will defend my clan if they stick around to fight it out, other than that i bsoe or stand there and let them go red on me. If i come across a flagged player i leave them alone, if i come across a red and he leaves me alone i leave him alone.
I bet if NCsoft made a patch that gave you permanent bonuses for having a certain level of pvp points, that you'd see pvp everywhere you went and the MRT would be empty O.o

no you wouldn't. people would just farm it on lowbie characters.
if anything they would pvp less cause a loss means the enemy gets stronger, and nobody would want that.
The "replayability" of GW is farming titles. Open 100000 treasure chests, fail 100000 lockpicks, unblur the entire map, and so on. Included in this list are obviously pvp related stuff like consecutive wins. Most of the people who pvp do it only and exclusively to farm these titles, and they will resort to any means available to do it more efficiently, disregarding if they're having fun doing it or not.
There's no purpose to titles other than checking that box in your character sheet. Most people will actually "duh, of course. Pvp is boring and repetitive, why would I do it otherwise?" at you if you tell them the only reason they pvp is to grind titles.
If your pvp score had (god forbid) any *functional* value in the slightest, I think you'd see 90% of the server either rerolling or subbing HE, where the remaining 10% are buffboxes and dwarf alts.

i am guessing much the opposite. being a broken end-game already i say the game would collapse.
the few people that wont be HE's will be buff boxes, bought 79 DC's, and adena vendors selling pvp points.
