Would it be worth it to present a petition to NCSoft NA for a Relaxed Server ? :p
I remember at the beginnig of C4 (i guess), there was a "relaxed server" listed as one of the servers we could choose, but of course it never worked and we were told later that it was a mistake, some sort of translation leftover or something...
I would love to get a server where all rates (XP, SP, Adena, Drops, ...) would be x10 or x15 and (maybe) the playtime per week would be limited to 10h or 15h or something !
So, who's with me on this ?
And then this winter i'll do a pitstop to Austin on my way to L.A. to present this petition to NCSoft :p
I wish, there was such server when I started playing L2, but now starting again from the beginning...? That relaxed server should be at least x10 imo, to quickly pass the 0-40 part, which is boring as hell.
I think I am against it as well, beyond the point that a relaxed server has been suggested time and time again in the past.
We are having a hard enough time now filling the ten servers we have. Relax servers, while on the surface a good idea, will only draw a rash of complaints because the x hours you have to play are spent finding a place to hunt that isn't taken by others (be they bots or other live players), and let's not even get started on the market system.
To be fair you can't really be "against" it as such because if you never intend to play on it, why would it matter? It's not as if it's going to affect your game play on the server you're on.
saying it wont affect you at all isnt strictly true either, lots of your friends could leave to said relaxed server, which could very well keep you from lvling as effectively.
I'm all for it... but the description on the PTS sounds nice enough, wasnt it 30hrs at 30% XP increase?
I think a real relaxed server would have to be at least x10 to be of any interest, which means 1000% :) , 30% is really peanuts for ppl who can only play a few hours a week !
I think I am against it as well, beyond the point that a relaxed server has been suggested time and time again in the past.
And the point that it exists in Korea, so why not here ?
We are having a hard enough time now filling the ten servers we have.
That's perfectly true.
Hence the idea of proposing something that could appeal to a wider audiance, before having to merge all 10 servers to only 2 or 3
I think it's too late for this to be introduced.
How can it be too late to do anything in a MMORPG, that's constantly evolving ? (as long as it's not completely changing the game all over, but i guess no one will ever do that mistake again thanx to SOE :p )
A lot of the harcore changing-impaired posters here were against Server Transfer, and thank God it's coming anyway ;)
30 hr is hardly "relaxed" - that's 75% of a full-time job! (actually alot of companies call 32hrs or more "full-time") IIRC the description for relaxed said the limit was on time outside of town, not in a private store.
I think the most relevant issue is that we can't populate even the 10 servers we have. Alyra claims that she conveys info from here to the rest of NC/NA. I don't think it'd help to carry a printout to the company's home. But if you could muster up a few thousand more paid subscriptions, I'm sure they're roll out the red carpet.
I'm sure that's exactly what you said when ppl were asking for easier and faster ways to lv, but did the Herbs come from WoW ? Oh my God, it's not L2 anymore, we can now lv faster than before :D
Like i said, relaxed servers do exist in Korea, and it's still Lineage II...
What you may need is a Chronicle 1 emulator, but let the rest of us enjoy the natural evolution of the game :)
To be fair you can't really be "against" it as such because if you never intend to play on it, why would it matter? It's not as if it's going to affect your game play on the server you're on.
sure he can. it will thin out the population on the other servers.
I'm against it for that reason.
and if you make the server 10x its going to screw up the economy, thats the problem every private server has. where you get A grade weapons for a billion adena if you're lucky
30 hr is hardly "relaxed" - that's 75% of a full-time job!
Yes, i dont see how someone can spend 30 hours a week playing a game and call it "relaxed"
But if you could muster up a few thousand more paid subscriptions, I'm sure they're roll out the red carpet.
I would have to go and ask the ppl who play on private servers to do that, cos most ppl who play there do so because of the increased rates !
So i'm sure that if there's word that there's an official increased rates server, a lot of fresh new blood would join, and probably by thousands yes :)
Most people play on private servers cos it is _free_. And if you go and get all of em here, I'm gonna come looking for you with a chainsaw. The material on some of the private servers is horrible, just horrible.
sure he can. it will thin out the population on the other servers.
I'm against it for that reason.
The population on other servers is thining out anyway
And wait til Server Transfer comes, and watch everyone fly to Bartz, Teon and Franz !
Besides, even if i'm always up for a good discussion, the orginal idea was to gather ppl who are for it, not those who are against it, to see how much ppl would be interested ! :)
Most people play on private servers cos it is _free_.
I'm not so sure of that...
L2 is not WoW (otherwise yes, i'll be playing WoW), it doesnt appeal to the same kind of ppl, i think the average L2 player is older than the average WoW player, hence has more money and can easier spend 15$ a month.
And if you go and get all of em here, I'm gonna come looking for you with a chainsaw. The material on some of the private servers is horrible, just horrible.
He he
I dont really know how it goes there, i only did a bit of research for my previous thread about it (the so-called "official" private servers), and it really seemed that the n°1 motivation was the increased rates !
We have 8 [NA] servers that hardly ever go beyond a light condition. Until i see more servers in a medium/heavy state. I don't see NC forking over the money for another server.

Oh ok now i see what you mean...
So, here's how it'll probably go :
- Server Transfer goes live in December
- Everyone jumps to Bartz, Teon or Franz
- Kain, Erica, Devianne go from "Light" to "Empty" (i chose them as an exemple and nothing more, plz dont start flaming about this cos it has nothing to do with the thread :) )
- NCSoft closes 2 or 3 servers (and offers a free Transfer to the 10 or 20 players left on those)
- Boom ! A new relaxed server called Kairicanne opens :p

The head honcho over in Korea has already said there will be more servers in the NA Market...

Answer now? ;)
In addition, they do intend to see some sort of alternate rules server. We just don't know what form it will take.
"Fortunately, for some of us left still able to enjoy Lineage 2, with the licensing of Lineage 2 to SEA Asia, there will be new Lineage 2 servers released (South East Asia at first, then the US and possibly Europe later). So we won't be totally out of things to do."
SEA has been released, next up is the US, then possibly a Euro server.

This is just prejudices...
Half of my old clan from priv server would already come to retail, if they didn't need 2years+ before they take part in real pvp.
As for quality, after spending some time in both worlds I don't see much difference. There's a lot of horrible players on retail, and the person with the biggest l2 knowledge and skill I ever met still plays on priv. Of course her knowledge is limited to C4 since you can't get more than that on priv.
and let's not even get started on the market system.
WTS Blah! PST before I have to log!
I am really surprised you have no clue how the relax system works. Not only was it activated on one of the past PTS, it's been talked to death on this forum.
The time limit does not count down until you step out of town or out of other "safe" areas. You can sit in town 24/7 and buy/sell all you want.
I'm all for it. only people it seems that wouldnt like that kind of limited frame playing time are bot farmers and people still living in there parents basement.
ITS OK TO GO OUTSIDE ONCE IN A WHILE
Why wasn't this type of information released here this is the Official L2 website after all? Why does everyone have to be so tight lipped?
Because they don't know when they'll do it. It might happen after CT1 or maybe 2 years down the road. Just look at what happened with the name/server change issue.

I'd go so far as to say because this is NCSoft NA we are talking about here. They need to call Korea before they go to the bathroom for god sakes. (Ok joke, but you get the point)
If you apply some thought to it, you'd realize they need a server for CT1 thats "clean", for the new people and the returns coming back. Will it make it on time? Maybe not, but you can certainly see the appeal of a brand new server if your just coming into a game that requires 2-3 years for a casual player to even get competitive with current competition.

i got a standing gamble that the person in charge of this has since "accepted a new position" somewhere else.
(reply is to different points made up there somewhere in the thread)
The main problem with just making a server relaxed instead of making a new one is obviously those with clan halls or castles. To say they could just transfer out, do they get to take that castle or hall with them? Erm, I dont think so.
If a relaxed server came it would have to be a new one, period. People that dont play a lot now would love it because they could then participate in higher end content that they see as YEARS away with their current rates and time in game. Why not have that to offer to others? I can understand the 'I dont want my server to thin out' thought, I really do...but some other reasons are just purely selfish. I dont think someone who can only play a few hours a week is contributing a TON to the economy (cept maybe the ebay economy) so that sort of doesnt work as a reason for me. Not wanting you friends to go, that stinks, but we cant just say we shouldnt have the option for thousands of other people from that, logically that is.
There are many pros and cons, but for those of us with limited time to play...I love the idea. Right now I know I wont EVER get anywhere NEAR the top end content (70's+) So to see a relaxed server with the possability? Would be nice.

Honestly I think people's main concern is it would rip apart guilds.
Right now even the hardcore guilds require casuals. They use them as fillers, etc, whatever. Those casuals would up and leave because they know they could never reach the level of a hardcore, where as on a relaxed server thats possible.
You'd also have a ton of people leave who have played the game too much and want a more relaxed (..lol) server where they dont have to play 50 hours to keep up anymore, but can do the required 20 or 30 or whatever it may be.
I love the idea of them personally. People with indepth knowledge of the game would still pull slightly ahead, but no where near as it is now. Alot of my best friends in game arent hardcore and I'd love the chance to group with them and play with them on a server where I know they could keep up with minimal effort.
While a relaxed server would be wonderful, wouldn't a pretty significant downside be, the economy? Not so much the stuff the bots bring, but the stuff people try to sell, Sure, 30 hours is a lot, but I know i wouldn't leave my character online for a day/night since i'd conserve hours for days i could play for a long time.
Then again, they do have that auctioneer in there now , though can't say i've used it. So that could've alievated that problem too.

I just can't see it happening.
Everything I've seen about NCSoft is that they are a sensible company. They're very quick to make bad decisions about game design, but they're very tight with their money.
They'll happily trash their level of customer service to outsource to India. They'll give free time only on the mission to hook in new subscribers. A really cynical wyzeguy might say they make buffer characters near worthless to play live, but awesome to drag as a buffbot, to encourage multiple subscriptions per player.
They'll add new services (transfer rename sex-change) that will increase the $$, even if it makes the game more supportive of account-sellers & ebayers. Those services don't cost them increase capital investment, but increase revenue.
But they really do not seem at all ready to add new equipment, labor, etc. for a new server that won't increase revenue.
They run lineage, not as a religion they want to spread, but as a bottom-line kept out of the red.
I could see a relaxed server being implemented after they've had to resort to server mergers to prop up the game when it's dying. But until then, we're too much on light to make an 11th.
Petitions are rather silly - it's not a government. I would like to play a relaxed server (as 30 hrs is pretty high playtime quota & if you go over that, you should really rethink your life), but not if I had to start all over.
3 years ago had time to spend playing this game, now I have to work and go to the institute. A lot of friends left the game for the same reasons. Yesterday I met one of my friends and he loves the idea of a releaxed server (5x).
Lineage II is a beautiful game, but builded with the mentality of the Koreans, they loves killing mobs thousands of times.
A relaxed server or a "Relaxed L2" must be closer to our customs.
Just think that it's a Business, if the strong point of the P. Servers is the increased rates, why not do the same in the official servers and earn more money? Doing it now isn't late, a new Chapter of L2 is coming and it's the best moment to do that.
Of course, a lot of servers will be going to be ghost servers, but if they then merge these servers and the "relaxed" servers goes well, they can open new relaxed servers and if they have less servers they can expend more human force to control the bots!
Graphically:
NOW: 8 NA Servers, Only 1 FULL
After: 8 NA Servers, 4 Normal / 2 Relaxed/PVE
Only 6 NA Servers to control the bot problem (more effective GMs = more happy customers = $$$)
They run lineage, not as a religion they want to spread, but as a bottom-line kept out of the red.
I could see a relaxed server being implemented after they've had to resort to server mergers to prop up the game when it's dying. But until then, we're too much on light to make an 11th.
You assume all 10 servers will stay up... (whistles)
Everyone who played on the private servers know what this means. This is basicly a cheat. The money doesn't count anymore. You ask 500kk for a sword? No probs. Next time you can ask 2 billions. You will get it. 100k for a port? I will port 24/7 and will still have more money then I can spend.
But you want to lvl up? How about from lvl 1 to 40 for couple of days? And in a month the server will be full with 75+lvl chars. Of course all the quests are forfeit. Who is going to do a quest for money when the money are growing on the trees?
Actually the petitons means:
"We doesn't have the patience or we doesn't have the skill to lelvel up and to enjoy finding better items and stuff. We just want to be a super heroes and everyoen to envy us and the be afraid of us."

Big assumption right there.
I don't assume they will all 10 stay up, I think you mistake what I meant. Obviously at some point lin2 will close its doors for good. Perhaps NCSoft will make some heroic efforts to keep the game going even after it's lost too many players. EQ went that route, merging multiple servers together to try to get enough players to make a group or two.
But when you get to mergers, that's when it's incontrovertible that a game has really "jumped the shark" an the company is just milking the last of its customers for all they can.
Merging servers in a game where clan hall ownership is so important = jump teh sharkz
Actually the petitons means:
"We doesn't have the patience or we doesn't have the skill to lelvel up and to enjoy finding better items and stuff. We just want to be a super heroes and everyoen to envy us and the be afraid of us."
No, it only means "we have a life and we'd like to be able to enjoy this game with the rest of us who also have a life and we'll leave the no-life losers between them".
...
Now, if you wanna have a real conversation about this, dont start flaming, it gets you nowhere.

Noone asked for that.
AFAIK, private servers have x35 to x100 increased rates, which is completely ridiculous, what a lot of ppl here and a lot of potentially new customers are asking for is something around a x10 server, that should be plenty enough to have a good time if we cant spend endless hours per week on this game and still maintain some level of difficulty...

The problem is, that no matter what you do, it will take you 2 years of repetitive killing mobs. Not everyone will want to start a game knowing that.
Oh, and getting gear on retail is much easier than on a freshly opened 3x-7x priv. On Teon, I can afford new grade equipment as soon as I reach level to wear it, since market is filled with gear (and you know where this gear comes from). I could only dream about it on privs.
On privs I actually had to do quests in GC or LOA for parts and recipes, since there were no you-know-who to farm this stuff for me and sell underpriced in giran. And these are not solo quests, not to mention random rewards - so more reasons for team play.
My point is, that with higher rates, game doesn't get easier, only shorter and less dumb.
If your options are to loose a customer because they absolutely cannot compete, or keep said customer with a new server, what would be your choice?
Exactly.
To me, that would be a very wise business decision from NCSoft's part before the only ppl that are left playing this game are the ones that post on these boards on a daily basis :p
It seems Wyzeguy that the players understand their is a problem, that they "get it". Why doesn't NcNa seem to "get it"?
I've seen small companies that really didn't get it -- run by people with only average smarts or abilities. Or actually where the business went up the owner's nose or got left on the casino floor.
With a big company, when they don't "get it" I think it's mostly that the right arm don't know what the left arm is doing. (maybe substitute Asian and NA in that one)
In my experience, more often when I think someone makes crummy business decisions it's cuz *I* don't get it, don't know enough of the whole story to see why they did what they did. But maybe that's just me.
Don't challenge Ashane's e-manhood. It's massive and covered with remnants of those who tried to stand up to it.
>Flex<
But seriously, we all know better then saying "oh I only play 2-3 hours a day..." like it took him 6 months or something. Hell no, at those play times, thats 2 years unless he was plvl'ed in FOG.
This is just prejudices...

I've yet to see a private server which matches Retail 1:1 in formulas and content. Saying that someone playing on a private has the most knowledge, is total [censored], since it is based on private crap which is not accurate. Moreso, there's been such _huge_ changes after C4 that the game isnt even close to what it was back then...
actually ive been playing since beginning to mid c2.
Yeah, exactly.
So you proved everyones point even further. Playing 2-3 hours a day, since C2, and you *STILL* arent even close to a Noble, nor are you even 78 on main to stand a chance in Oly.
Everyone who played on the private servers know what this means. This is basicly a cheat. The money doesn't count anymore. You ask 500kk for a sword? No probs. Next time you can ask 2 billions. You will get it. 100k for a port? I will port 24/7 and will still have more money then I can spend.

i used to play on a 30x server, and thats what got me into official L2, and you might not think rates make a difference, but on a 30x server s grade weapons are impossible to buy for adena(without npc's selling them) AG going for 1.5b
and 10x isn't far from 30x at all, its 1:3 it really just means it will reach the broken economy a bit slower than 30x, but it will get there.
just the adena drops form mobs alone will pay back your soul/spirit shots 10 times over.
and most people play private servers not because of the rate, but because of the price(free)
Lastly i don't see how anything you learn in a private server is useless on the official ones. most of what i know about lineage 2(game mechanics, quests, and everything else) i have learned on a private server, and all of it has been accurate enough that it makes no difference for the official ones. maybe except the odd dialog change here and there. but thats unimportant.
its still 99% the same game

I'm not going to discuss difference between priv and retail here, but you know, there were stolen C4 pts files from NCSoft, so no big magic here.
As for time for achieving anything it depends mostly on how much time you can devote to a game (and this is also main point of this whole topic). And lets be honest - 78/78 with top equipment for both classes in 2 years isn't THAT long. Most of people with existing real lifes need ~1 year to even get to 3rd class and that's still a lot of playing for thinking about start in such old game. And what, if you are true beginner (even with experience in other mmorpgs, but not L2)? Just double it for leveling sub, earning cash for OEd equipment (2 sets of it) etc. So 2 years is close estimation.
Main point of my previous post, was comparing communities. I agree with lots of kids on privs, but what about adults, who behave like kids on retail, don't know which is worse.
By mentioning knowledge, I meant overall quality of a player. A person, who was able to accomodate knowledge needed to survive in certain game conditions (i.e.priv server) would as easily accomodate knowledge from newer chronicles, needed to survive on retail server. Obvioulsy she cannot know anything more, than she tried.
When I first time came to official server (~8 months ago) I had high expectations both from quality of service and from community. Overall it's ok, but not as good as I thought. As for community, it's enough to read some posts on this forum, especially these, where people try to give advice to others. There are only very few posters, who are pleasure to read, but so many would make a private server kid laugh. :P
There isn't a single rational reason for NCSoft to pursue this idea. Sorry, it would redefine their core business product away from L2. Not a typical business plan.
(yes we make Mercedes Benz autos---but we've decided to build an absolute piece of crap car that is ridiculously cheap and see if we can sell 2 million of them each year) Sure.
Business lesson time:
NO COMPANY ON EARTH HAS UNLIMITED RESOURCES. This fundamental business principle means that for a company to pursue varied goals and interests that it has to make choices regarding resource use. As you splinter your business model, resource FOCUS becomes more difficult and you risk the more core businesses in many cases.
In the example above, NCSoft would have to remove resources, focus, and attention AWAY from L2 and it's other softer core games to dumb down an existing version of L2 for a relatively few people (those not paying on the private servers will essentially not pay on real servers anyway). Suggesting that the creation, maintenance, and operation of relaxed servers wouldn't effect the main servers is silly.
This concept is a sucker bet for NCsoft.
Everyone who played on the private servers know what this means. This is basicly a cheat. The money doesn't count anymore. You ask 500kk for a sword? No probs. Next time you can ask 2 billions. You will get it. 100k for a port? I will port 24/7 and will still have more money then I can spend.

Being a complete newbie (never ever heard aboth the game) I started on 4x. After few days my himan knight was lvl 39 and I had millions of adena. On the same 4x server the monster track was empty simply ebcause veryoen just ported where he wants to go instead using the free monster track port for meetings. The manor system was stopped (whos is going to seed and such when the mats were in abundance 4x means not just XP and adena, but drops and spoils too) and many other thigs didn't work too simply because they were senseless. No one was doing the quests even the class change because they are pointless. For the class change quests you simply go and buy the needed marks (for adena of course - who cares about crystals when they can be bought too no matter what the prices are).
The godd thing - there are no bots. For one quite simple reason - being free servers no one tolerates the bots as they are not payng customers. But the relaxed server will be payed so the bots will be tolerated and the will increase at least tenfold.
But to return back to my experiences - after about a week I become bored to gain levels with few killings and bought an accout there. So I know what I am talking about.
If you really have no time just go to soem free private server and you will have lots of PVP between lvl 75 chars. Thsi is what a relaxed server means.
There isn't a single rational reason for NCSoft to pursue this idea.
I'm really amazed at how ppl dont get that there already are some relaxed servers run by NCSoft
I think everyone gets that. It's listed on the login screen. :p
But it's for a market where a decent amount of people play lineage1&2. What's relevant here is the NA market, which is rather small.
Additionally, if you pay attention to what NC says and does, they're backing off of lin2 as a product. This PTS makes it very clear they've not much talent devoted to our game, but even just lookin at the emails you get, they're far more excited in the newer games.
It doesn't make good business sense to roll out a new server for a dying game that can't fill its current servers, and for which there is no product on store shelves.
There isn't a single rational reason for NCSoft to pursue this idea.
I'm really amazed at how ppl dont get that there already are some relaxed servers run by NCSoft
Well then what's the point of this ridiculous question you raised here in the Discussion threads?
Go to those 'NCSoft operated relaxed servers' and leave the main servers as they are--should solve all your problems.
(yes we make Mercedes Benz autos---but we've decided to build an absolute piece of crap car that is ridiculously cheap and see if we can sell 2 million of them each year) Sure.
Doesn't Mercedes-Benz (or is it BMW?) own Volkswagen, the original creator of the Cheap, Piece of Crap car.... that sold millions and millons of cars between 1973 and 1978?
Ooh, wait! How about Ford? The Mustang vs the Pinto?
So... yeah, bad analogy. Model, schmodel, its all about the profits.
As far as focusing goes, L2 hasn't been the focus for NCS for 2 chronicles now. Nothing they've added has been truly new or innovative, perhaps the Kamael excepting, but everything else is a retread or rehash of what we've had before.
if you play this game semi-serious you can get to a high level in no time. Im sure i could be 78/76 if i had...no wars. But ive been pvping since level 1 bud dno bout you. somehow i doubt
If you really have no time just go to soem free private server and you will have lots of PVP between lvl 75 chars. Thsi is what a relaxed server means.
First, What problem do you have if we want an alternate server? you have your server, Live and let live!
Second, if you have an account in the official server you are breaking the EULA if you play in a Private server.

We aren't asking to "changes" the rules of the actual servers, we are asking for a new one with other rules, Live and let live!

And thanks so much for your support! (lmao)
Support this stupid idea and ridiculous post all you want. it's never gonna happen precisely because it doesn't make sense and never will (lol).

Its already been said by NCSoft Korea that its coming.
Got a problem with it? Write them a letter in korean. ;)

Oh dont worry, i'll leave the main servers die a peaceful death, i dont care, all i'm asking for is that NCSoft takes into consideration the will of many ppl to create a relaxed server here in NA and Europe for those of us who do have a life.
And as a matter of fact, reading recent interviews, they will take this into consideration, despite the cries of all the change-impaired grand-mothers here :)
The same ones that were against faster leveling, or server transfer, or name change, thank God NCSoft doesnt listen to you or this game would have been long dead.
So, get ready to... "cry more" when the relaxed server goes live :)
First, What problem do you have if we want an alternate server? you have your server, Live and let live!
What happens when a relaxed server is introduced and those who play on my server, with me, decide to go there instead? I lose my friends and hunting partners, therefor this is a major concern to me.

I am really surprised you have no clue how the relax system works. Not only was it activated on one of the past PTS, it's been talked to death on this forum.
The time limit does not count down until you step out of town or out of other "safe" areas. You can sit in town 24/7 and buy/sell all you want.
I was being facetious. Pardon my poor attempt at humor.
And, all that being said, there is one message I would like to put out to those reading this thread. The people who need it will understand it:
Breathe and think your comments through before posting.
What happens when a relaxed server is introduced and those who play on my server, with me, decide to go there instead? I lose my friends and hunting partners, therefor this is a major concern to me.
I think that right there is why some are against it.
You know it will break apart guilds, because a majority who started late and feel they cannot keep up will move for the chance... and try and convince all their friends to go too.
Its a valid fear, but its something you go through every time you move to a new MMO, move servers, server merges, or transfers come about.

Jay, this will happen anyway as soon as Server Transfer is implemented in December !
Just look at the difference in population between Lionna and, i dont know, Teon or Bartz... A lot of ppl will want to move to a more populated server, be it relaxed or not...
You cannot force ppl to have less fun when they can have more fun...
I'm not trying to force people to have fun, or to stay.
But I can say that those I have talked with about server transfers don't plan to go anywhere. But we have never discussed higher-rate relaxed servers before, so I don't know where they stand on that matter.
If people are going to transfer off of Lionna to (insert higher population server here), it will be for more PVP, or more groups in higher-content areas. It won't be the people in my circle, so I for one won't miss them.
I am curious how they (server transfers) will affect the political state of Lionna, but I'm not really bothered by them.
A relaxed server offers, as AshaneFB said (****, I could swear I was just arguing with him yesterday), a chance to feel like you can 'keep up' with everyone else. It will be a catalyst to break up guilds and friendships, and THAT is what I worry about.

I know, but I lost many friends these years because they can't play a game that is a full time job :(
All my Beta friends left the game long time ago, my first clan mates left the game in C4, all my RL friends left the game in C5.... I've had to find new clan, met new friends, it's a MMO, these thnigs happen :(
We do value your feedback and ideas, and this thread has that in large amounts. :) This is an interesting topic and one we're very interested in hearing the community's thoughts on.
Oh, and just as a side note, petitions aren't allowed as those are typically meant to try to strong-arm a person or group into an action or decision. (This thread doesn't seem like a petition.)

You also have to look on the other side of the coin too though...
How many of your friends have quit and went to WoW or another 'easier' grind game because they could not take the pace of L2?
Do you think some of those would come back if it was a 3-5X server, and they could actually feel as if they could keep up?
You might lose friends, but you might stand to gain a whole bunch that left too.

Well, to be honest, i never really intended to put up a petition, i only thought it could be a different way to start a thread and talk about relaxed servers
took me awhile to realize and some consideration of jkoster's replies.
Though I am curious about something Grazzt (in all seriousness).
Let's pretend that all your dreams come true....server transfers and relaxed servers and easy economy and name changes (or whatever they might all include). Then what?
Just about every week you post some version of "L2 sucks". You've left the game more than once--you've posted how much you hate it dozens of times I would think.
So what, seriously, does Grazzt post if by some chance everything you hope for comes to pass?
Although this has nothing to do with this thread, i'll answer you only once and then we can take it to private if you'd like.
Let's pretend that all your dreams come true....server transfers and relaxed servers and easy economy and name changes (or whatever they might all include).
Server Transfer isnt a dream, it's coming in December.
Name Change isnt a dream, it's coming too.
Relaxed Server is still a bit of a dream but i'm pretty sure it'll come one way or another pretty soon.
Easier Economy... i'm not sure what you mean by "easier", what i asked for was "more organized", maybe a bit "easier" too but that wasnt the main point... Anyway, ok, i'll give you that, this one will probably always stay a dream :p
Just about every week you post some version of "L2 sucks".
I'd really like to see only one of my posts where i say "L2 sucks" or any version of it
If that was what i was thinking, then why would i play (and pay) ???
I had (and still have) a lot to say about this game, yes of course, and that's because i like it so much and i want to see it getting better and bigger and appealing to more and more ppl !
I never said "L2 sucks" but i said a lot of times "L2 is great but it could be excellent".
I dont really see the point of posting fan threads only to say "this game is great", "this game is great", "did i tell you how great this game was", "this game is so great that it musnt change or evolve in any way"
These are forum boards, meant to discuss, so i'm discussing.
You've left the game more than once--you've posted how much you hate it dozens of times I would think.
Yeah right, i'm paying 15$ a month to play a game i hate :D
Do you even think before you post ? ;)
And FYI i never left the game once.
I canceled once but renewed even before the cancelation took effect, and now i canceled again but i'm pretty sure i'll renew before Nov.26 when the cancelation will be effective :)
(and as a matter of fact i made a thread called "i love this game" a few months back and everybody asked me what was the point of this thread - before it went to 4 or 5 pages long of course )
So what, seriously, does Grazzt post if by some chance everything you hope for comes to pass?
This part i dont really understand, but like i said this will be my only out-of-topic post, so we can continue to talk about that in private if you want !
Almost completely irrelevant:
It always seemed to me that Porche, in particular, was a pretty esoteric brand until they made a cheap accessible model (the 924) which got their emblem actually on the roads and in the magazines.
One aspect of the general idea of relaxed servers. Whereas 30 hrs seems like more time than is healthy to play a video game, it obviously leaves a lot of time, 138 hrs, that you're not playing the game. That makes it hard for things like raids or sieges, and stuff like that, because for your clan to take and hold a fortress, you're gonna have to have a lot of people there to take it (really really hard to do with casual players), and then space it out so you have a lot to defend it (impossible with the rule set).
I'm just sayin that the sort of politics and mechanisms for advancement in-game currently are designed for 24x7 players, not 30/7. You'd get a lot of whiners when it comes time for cabrio, unless some adjustments are made.

Good point, maybe we would have to ask a korean that plays in a relaxed server.
Actually it is just matter of game balance. If you change a game balance it will not be a Lineage game, but something else, no matter how you call it.
Providing you have no problem to play for free on relaxed servers I don't see any need for another one of those servers.
BESIDES JUST ONE:
Obviously some people plan to go to lvl 75 for 2 weeks on such relaxed server and then transfer their uber chars to the normal servers
Hope NCSoft will not allow such stupid thing. If this happens I definitely will cancel my L2 account.
Can you please not jump into such radical statements? How high rates should there be for people to have 75 in 2 weeks? You won't have this with x5 rates, or so.

I highly doubt that would happen. No need to go charging at windmills. ;)

As I wrote before being absolute newbie (never ever heard of the game) I started on private server 4x. In few days I had lvl 39 human knight and got bored. Then started to experiment with dwarves and about in a week stopped counting the money I had.
And this is not a theory, the is a practice.
The math is quite simply: When you gain now 1 lvl, on the 5x server you gain 5 lvls with the same number of kills (on the correspodning lvl of mobs of course). If you experienced and do pole parties you will gain levels faster then you can say it. Usually you get from lvl 1 to lvl 20 for less then two hours.
First off, its my opinion, that there is nothing hardcore about being some kid/teenager devoting all their spare free time to a game, which is a lot. They do it because frankly, they can. Hardcore mmo players are the ones that besides try and get somewhere in this game, are the people with steady and usually demanding jobs, kids, pets, house, girlfriend/wife and house and still find the time to play mmos.
Being some student with all the time in the world to play computer games from parents basement or which ever, are about as hardcore and a rubber band.
There is no reason to not support at relaxed server, the casual gamer will never ever compete against the above named youngsters. So why they should be on the same server if other options are possible is beyond me. Furthermore, it would be most of the players who really enjoy pvp above all would transfer to these servers, Dark age of Camelot was a brilliant example of this with their newer classic servers were the high end raid content grinding was gone. It was a pvp dream to play there.
The people left on the "hardcore" servers would be the pve players who just love the grinding and take great accomplishment in leveling something that takes long and requires much dedication. Not that some of the other's wouldn't take enjoyment out of this, it is just not a doable challenge for them because of the massive time investment. They wont ever reach the end game before the level cap is increased.
Close some servers, they are way too many American server at the moment anyways. Make 1 US and 1 EU relaxed server, could be just the 30mins rule, which I think is excellent.
This just isnt going to work. IF they would ever even consider a relaxed server it would have to be new or you end up with some really ticked off players. If a new server is made it would have to be with no transfers in or out included, for a relaxed. For a pve I suppose they would allow transfers, though that would make the economy a mess. I dont see either happening any time soon, if ever, so who knows what the current servers would be like if/when it did happen....so taking a current server might change, but atm?Oy, dont even want to think of the server posts complaining about it

The problem is not is there must be such servers or not - the problems is there are such relased servers and there are lots of such servers. For evey taste and liking. And they are free, they have no bots (who will tolerate the bots when they are not payng customers) and honestly they have much less downtime then Teon So the only reason someone should want more relaxed servers and besides being payed is the hope it will be allowed the chars from the relaxed servers to be transfered to the normal server. Of course no one will admit this.
Just so were clear you realise relaxed isnt just about x40 rates....it has a limit of time you ca nplay a week like lets say 20 hours. Makes people with less play time able to keep up with the game. Its a good idea to have a relaxed server but it needs to be closed to transfers for the first year or so...

No, I don't want someone with 7 chars everyone 3x75 lvls to spoil my game. Even after an year or so or after 10 years.
If you want relaxed server go play on relaxed servers but don't push your overdevelloped chars to the rest of the players.
It should be closed to transfers, period. Why would you need to transfer? To take your high lvl few week old toon to another server? No, not acceptable. If you want to play high level content on a non-relaxed server you should have to put in the same time and work as those currently *on* the server. That would be completely unfair to those that are working and putting in all the time on that server. You want to play somewhere because you dont have the time to get to the high end then you stay there. Imagine how mad people would be if this is allowed to happen. Ouch.
Why would anyone need to transfer *to* a relaxed server as it wouldnt take you too long to get a toon up to proper level anyway? Other than to take a bit of gear with you that wouldnt be on the server for a while? Naw, doesnt make sense to me.
Relaxed server, if it ever existed, should remain 'locked' so to speak.

We dont want crappy servers that dont even have half the things live servers do, they are also against the EULA to even play on one (which you've already admited you did...) or to even discuss here.
Itll take just as much time to get end game on relaxed server then on normal server it wont be faster because there is a set time limit. It will be "easier" to get end game no doubt but it wont make it "Faster". All this will do is give people with lives a chance to compete better. (Wich im sure a lot of people will oppose because having no life at the moments makes you a god in L2.)
Of course a relaxed server would be closed to to transfers. the only way I can see them allowing transfers is to take into account the raised rates and adjust xp/sp accordingly. The only issue would be adena and we already know there is a limit on what you can bring.
All of this is a little "the sky is falling". Just like the transfers. NC is aware of the problems and will implement some sort of sa***uards. They won't be to the taste of everyone but they will be there.
And as others have pointed out relaxed servers already exist so it's not like implementing one will be a shock to NC Managment.

Did you see the word "private" somewhere in your quote? No. Besides I don't promote any private server. They do exists and eveyone including NCSoft know they do exists.
As for the lacking things - yes, they do lack many things. Things which are useless on the "relaxed" servers. Like quests, manor system, ships, monster track and such. Who needs a stupid quest for the first class change when you can simply buy the needed marks for a tiny part of your pocket money? And this is just an example.
As for the EULA and such - yes, I admit, I did played on private servers. So sue me. But I didn't break any EULA because since I did read and accepted the EULA I didn't play on any private server and didn't break any agreement.
imo if you make a relaxed server all the wannabies and lolloerboys, pvp gankers and joke numbers will migrate with a big wave to the new serever and wanna be the best über pwnzors and rule the whole server, that is a GREAT idea as the other players who like to play and just have fun with RP, chating and a clan hunt in peace and some softy pvp can finnaly live in peace. plx plox relax the crazy gankers and angry kids.

Not just the adena. The items too will be a problem. What will become of the transferred char top A stuff when he scaleback to C grade? Will he get a top C stuff, medium C stuff or low C stuff? And how much the price of the lost A grade will be calculated... etc etc etc

Not a bad indeed. But we then will have 10 bots on every human player
Again relaxed doesnt mean X40 rates, it means a set maximum hours per week playtime. Of course rates would go up else it would take 5 years to end game. It however does not mean ppl will have level 80 toons faster then on regular servers, more easily yes, faster no. Of course one can argue that playing 20 hours a week with 3 accounts at higher rate will be better then 60 hours on 1 account at regular rates but thats besides the point. I doubt any Official relaxed servers rate would be much more then 3x to 5x.
Itll take just as much time to get end game on relaxed server then on normal server it wont be faster because there is a set time limit. Actually relaxed is substantially slower if it's like the Korean listed one. They have 30% increased experience, which is a small boost (and 50% increased drops). But they're "limited" to 30 hrs per week. If you consider there's 166 hrs per week (2 hrs off for maintenance) a true powerleveler would go lots lots faster.
The player on a relaxed server will level at less than a quarter of the rate of a full-timer. Each week the full-timer regular can get 4.25 as much as a full-timer relaxed.
But the other way of looking at it: Suppose it was going to take you 2.5 yrs, say, to get to whatever you consider "end-game" on your play schedule on regular server. With a 30% reduction, you'd take only 23 months and a few days. Even better, you'd not have to compete against 24/7 powerbotters like you do currently.
Did you see the word "private" somewhere in your quote? No. Besides I don't promote any private server. They do exists and eveyone including NCSoft know they do exists.
You've brought it up 3 times in this thread so far, and keep using pservers are = to relaxed.
Then you say, go play on a relaxed if thats what you want.
Guess what? Most would love too! However, there are no such servers in the NA/EU market. So for you to say that, means you were talking about pservers again. That is, unless your so new that you didnt know you coudnt play on Korean servers without a KSSN+ Korean Phone.
Of course a relaxed server would be closed to to transfers. the only way I can see them allowing transfers is to take into account the raised rates and adjust xp/sp accordingly. The only issue would be adena and we already know there is a limit on what you can bring.

But again, it's not an issue. It's only an unknown. Should they allow the transferring of characters ("should" being the optimum word) they will make allowances. It may be to player's liking or not.
We know they are going to be implementing "some" sort of alternate rules server. We don't know what it will be yet. I doubt it will be in the next update (though you never know, maybe they want to really hit the "Kamael" with a bang) but it is coming.
All people can do is wait and see. And most importantly, just enjoy yourself.
do that ridiculous bonus of 30% extra exp and 50% extra drops rate make you satisfied?
I'm actually satisfied with how it is now.
But who knows, if they did incorporate a relaxed server I might go if they allowed it. I don't have the inclination to play video games for hours upon hours per day any more.
Well, together with my gf we have 2 acc. And don't have time to play 30 hours weekly on every acc. So if the devs become so stupid and allow char transfer from a relaxed server to normal server we will dump the game. There are tons of online games where the devs don't do stupid things.
And I bet tons of players will be extremely ****** too.

They arent stupid.
Why would they allow xfers off of a relaxed server that has a increased rate of exp compared to a normal server?
They woudnt. They'd allow xfers to a relaxed from a relaxed .. since odds are if they open them they'll be two, one Euro, one US.
Not sure if we're all still talking about a PC game tbh.
It's supposed to be fun. If it isn't fun, don't play it. High level players are in 2 groups these days anyway.... botters/ebay-ers and the real hard-workers.
Personally i appreciate anyone who can put so much effort into something to get the rewards (it's a little sad that it's only a video game, but hey...). The botters/ebay-ers will ALWAYS have better gear and higher levels no matter how relaxed you make a server.
Just like real life.... it's not just the result that counts, it's how you play the game.
do that ridiculous bonus of 30% extra exp and 50% extra drops rate make you satisfied?
Absolutely not, and i agree with you here, it's completely ridiculous
To me, a "relaxed" server should be at least x5 or x10, and yes, without the possibility of transferring to or from another server or it wont make any sense.
Well, correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought L2 was a Korean game.
And, once again, they do have relaxed servers in Korea.
So, are you saying that Korean L2 is non-L2 ?
Pretty much. They wear stuff like NM and Maj robes on nukers, play classes based on how cute the toon is etc... L2 in Korea != L2 in NA. The playerbase is too different. We tend to maximize, exploit, whatever to our own gain way more.
And the comment was about relaxed servers in the first hand, which are imo not L2. They're the same as Private servers to me.

Speak for yourself !
I play my classes based on how cute the toon is, i put Mystic armor to my Human Fighter female cos it's much more ****, and so on :p
Anyway, you cannot say that "a relaxed server is not the way L2 is meant to be played" when the actual creators of the game in Korea created a relaxed server there.
It's up to them to decide what is and what is not L2.
It might not be Charmille-L2, but it's still L2 :)
