Official Poll: Trick or Transmutation

The Trick or Transmutation event has come to a close, and Sir Edward has withdrawn to his lab once again to further his research. We hope everyone had fun dabbling in Alchemy! We'd love to hear what you thought about this event. Did you enjoy it? What would you change? Please place your votes below and reply in this thread with specific comments to let us know your thoughts. Thank you!
Sorry to say, but contrary to the pig event where I had a lot of fun despite the poor rewards I got, this event just made me said "WTH?" and thinking of it I just laugh.
Only 2x 2 days to get event items. Tons of event items necessary to get a bunch of consummables not even stacking with the usual ones. A few could-be-good rewards (the hats), but with such a frustrating drawback it's not worth more than the consummables. And almost 0 very good reward. Only a few lucky people got them. And not even the time to sell the remaining items after the event was fisnished, NPCs were removed immediately.

Definitely not a good event IMO.
i was hoping God would bless me with an A grade weapon, apparently he had a better idea somewhere...the event helped me finance my formal wear though so i can't complain at all
Don't think Gustin saw a Weapon, and the none tradeable aspect of the items was a bit annoying, and the fact the the Quick Heal Pots and such were Event ones, made it a pain for storage.
I had a hard time because of the scarcity of the formulae. I was able to craft only a handful of stones, even though I had thousands upon thousands of the recipes and materials.

I will also agree that limiting the time for keys to drop to just 92 hours was really difficult for anyone to feel like they were accomplishing anything.

The fact that chest keys had a cool-down timer, while short, also seems to have been a contentious issue with some that participated. Not so much with me, but I can see their points.
I liked that there was only one item that dropped and that it did stack. What I dont like is that people that hunt in areas with 2x+ mobs get screwed. My understanding is that the drop rate is the same for 1/4x mobs as it is for 5x mobs. This means that the solo classes (archers / mages) get a huge bonus because they dont have to share the drops and they can kill more in the same amount of time.

I also didnt like the fact that the npcs disappear so quickly after the keys stop dropping.
Okies, lets start from the story etc. Total ripoff from Full Metal Alchemist imo, heck, even the names >.<

2xweekend for drops, okies, that would have worked IF the keys dropped more(dunno about NA players, but during normal EURO times, the droprates sucked [censored]. 2 keys in a hour...) OR if the conversion from keys to formulas was better. Now, you could end up using 100 keys to get one formula. 100 to 1, wee, great job. Around 800 keys used, close to 700 excess Ore and Magic Reagents, lots of useless recipes trashed. Very unbalanced.

Rewards... okies, you guys must have been joking, right? Shadow hats, w00t. Skills that take 20-30mins to refresh, wow, just wow. Scrap the skills, make the hats permanent. Many people were jumping in joy before the actual event when they realised they can get stuff like Teddybear hats and Wizard hats. Now, they're just useless junk. Then, making pots and scrolls with different names... SUCKS. How about for the next event and every event after that, make the items exactly same as the normal items? So we dont end up with 2 stacks of buff scrolls and potions that are essentially the same. Make them stack, we're hard pressed already with space. Also, the rate of pots/scrolls/hats/weapons seemed to be really whacky. Pots, pots and more pots is what I got, horray! Give us materials, keyparts and stuff like that since you wont fix the broken spoil tables. Those are handier than some buff scrolls and potions you can buy from the shop.

Imo, this falls into the same category with the dye event, horrible.
an extra bonus of potions and lots of money from just selling keys that i got by grinding....just horrible....
I get more money not grinding, so yeah, horrible.
Meh I had fun, got nothing but GHP's which I didn't need though. There were far far too many quest items also, I think this was even worse than the hearts event for ripping up inventory space.

But other than that I didnt mind the event, liked seeing what I could maybe get from the stones
It was a fun event, it was just way too short sadly :(
the idea was great but... the result could be better :(

agree with camille
Well I didn't get a wep but I had fun trying to get one (and having got 17 hats, I certainly tried - I only bought 100 keys from my buy shop too, so most of it came from grinding). Events like these increase my incentive to go hunt, which is a good thing. My wife disagrees :)
The event sucked major donkeys furry little butt simply because it was only a Weekend event.

Good job and lets work on the next sucky event, maybe that one will only run for a few hours for 1 day. =)
i liked the fact the event QHP was only a fraction of it's weight compared to regular QHP ^^
I do not mind an event which mainly gives potions/scrolls/silly hats and only a very, very small chance to get a BIG prize. But, for christ's sake, WHY do the **** potions and scrolls always have to be called "Event..." or "... for event"?

With all the elixirs, brez scrolls, quest items, shots, various weapons, healing potions, cp potions, spirit ore etc. etc. needed by people these days, free inventory slots are rare. Now imagine having to carry around the ore, the magic ingredients, the keys and whatever pops out of the chests AND the "event special" scrolls/potions. It is just annoying. And of course if you have two different types of GHP / QHP, each type also needs its own hotkey slot...

Switching between subs is even better with all that junk =)
The QHP was insane from it... 5 weight, I could hunt with 8k arrows, 8k SS, 150 CP pots, 150 GHP and 150 QHP..... PVP GOD.

opening the chests was a pain in the backside to put it bluntly. The rewards were rubbish, far too many GHP compared to other items, considering 100 keys could get you 1 formula for 1 stone.

The Weekend only droprate gave the 'illegal' players a huge advantage as they had thousands of keys to sell throughout the week when the bug caught players and they wanted to try for a weapon.

The shadow hats were awesome.... but take up waaay too much space as they aren't tradeable or stackable. I ended up deleting a ton of mine since I have no WH space as it is with 3 subclasses and a main class to consider.
The event was a bit short but on the other hand, as many people were on holiday the week in between the WE, they didn't get an advantage on working people :P

As for the drop rate, formula drop was way too low as far as I'm concerned (especialy the 2nd WE for me).
using up about 1000 keys took forever and b/c conversion formulas were so rare, it took about 30 chests to get one stone. Most of the things i got from the stones were GHP or ******ed hats that take a 1/2 hour to recharge their skill. This event was a complete waste of time. Best events imo:

The mobs/raid bosses that spawned and dropped B rez, bsoe, buff scrolls, enchants etc.

The pumpkin event (the first one before they changed the drops to crap)
I think most people agree the best L2 event was the very first raid boss event. After that, everything went downhill in terms of drops, durations and most recently even the times you are allowed to farm events...

I don't remember which event it was anymore, but a while ago their was an event and someone on this forum calculated that in order to get the highest reward, you'd have to play nonstop every hour that the event was going on, from beginning to end.

...that's not what I see as a "fun event" imo ;)

No wonder more and more people see events as another "market" instead of actually participating. I mean, these days you'll probably make more adena off an event by sitting in Giran buying/selling smart, than with actually doing the event itself... how crazy is that?

I think the people to blame for this are the very posters of this forum though. After the first good events, mass zergs of lowbie dwarfs and other people started complaining how they could no longer play their class because people found their items in events etc etc... and how markets were getting ruined due to event drops.

That's also the reason why I find the "Suggestions" forum on this site a dangerous thing. It's filled with people who have NO clue how to play the game, yet they are the ones making suggestions... not a good development at all imo.

Just my toughts on this all :)
give us a pvp event PLZ!!!
with nice prizes of course
I wouldnt have been as unhappy with this event if the chests had stayed out a few days longer than they did so I could at least USE the keys I still have. A day or so after and they poofed, but cats and npcs for other events that took a lot less time to turn in would remain for daaaays. I have almost 300 keys, and no hope of turning them in. :(

If you want more suggestions or peoples thoughts, read the old thread, the last few pages. Seriously....
The keys and the chest drop were not the problem I got what I expected. The problem was when you click on the stone. I used 3 stones, and I got 2x10 GHP and 1 time scrolls.

So I sold the other components I had for 300k each I made 600k with this event I can't complain I guess. But I'd rather see other rewards like Grade D or C scrolls than potions which are supposed to stop working after the event.

Fortunately it still works but the description says it is for the event only.

And of course it was too short.
Please no more items that are named EVENT because they do not stack with normal items. Waste of space
Wonderful event except for the chests disappearing too fast. On the other hand we did have sufficient warning so the fault was mine for not opening chests sooner.
just opening the chests took a long time. 10 second delay per key.
and the rewards were bad, cause either you get garbage, or you're that 1/50.000 guy and you get a A grade weapon.
formulas didn't drop enough, i could have made 2 or 3 times as many stones if i had the formulas.
on top of that the restriction on drop times was horrible. a grand total of 4 days, ...yay
And as always with drop events. the botters benefit. the real people lose.
Events days were way too limited. The second weekend was the opening for deer hunting in many states.

Why hold the event on the weekends? I could only play a few hours. I had plenty of time to play during the week.

Why does NCSoft screw up the play time issue (i.e., limit times when drops occur) event after event. You are always shutting out people who play outside of prime time.
To make a quick list;

1) Item droprate was horrible. I managed to get 20-30 Keys per hour and most of the time not being able to craft 2 or more Philo Stones per time.
2) Rewards were bad. Alot of unstackable items with regular potions, nice items like the Hats with limited uses, IMHO the game is short of nice head accoirress. Also the effetcs were kinda useless, Big Head? My WH is still stuffed with the Oils. A-grade weapon rewards? I still believe all those which were turned out eventually went to the bots which had enough keys. Me myself haven't seen any extra C5/Interlude exclusive A-grade weapons on Franz' market. I rather had more Enchant Scrolls, 70% A-Grade recipes to make them or just regular materials (19k for CBP atm on Franz  )
3) Duration was okay, but the chests disappeared to quick. Had some left over keys which I couldnt sell because of this.
4) I voted, Unlikely, to redo an event like this, but the items drop during hunting so maybe I will but probally will sell the items to make some additional money.
I liked the Idea of the Event and I had fun doing it but SHADOW HATS! IF you guys make one more thing Shadow etc. (CT1 ShadoW Crono) I'm going to yell and moan and just deal with the fact i can't do anything about it :(
When CT1 comes out, shall they give once more your highest character a shadow armor and weapon? I already got 2 shadow Zubei and 1 shadow B grade weapon for my paladin :p
Those are not from update releases. They're from an event ^^

Usually we get a Chrono weapon(a souvenir) for every new chronicle etc.

Then they come from an event where you have nothing to do, which may barely be called an event ;)
Call to Arms was the event, you can go and check it out from the past news list.
The next event will take place ONLY over the American Thanksgiving holiday. Beginning late tonight and ending relatively early Monday morning, anyone going to visit family for this holiday weekend will most likely be left out.

Given the time frame for the event, it seems deliberate.

They called it an event.

It was an event in the same sense that welfare checks being mailed out is an event. Important, helpful to some, but not particularly newsworthy.

Easy, dont celebrate ^^
can we get the official statistics how many TOP A grade weapons have ppl got from this event? TY in advance
OK this is slightly off topic but, ok trick or transmutation was fun if you dont factor in the slightly annoying fact you had a long reuse timer on the keys.

What I wanted to say however, was we really need an event that favors live players. All the events we get in some shape of form involve gathering lots of event items through grinding and turning those in for a prize. This favors the souless ones that just let their toons xp 24/7. Maybe we should have an event where people are required to cooperate to gather things, not just grind, I dont know something like the golem event a few months back. Event mobs appearing randomly around the map, a way to give live players that can do the event an advantage over souless chars just grinding a spot all day
The only beef I have with this event was the duration. I didn't like the fact that the keys only dropped during the weekend. It would have been more fair if it had been one weekend and few work days, since for a lot of people, weekends are for the family. That would have suited me better for sure.
Oh, actually another thing, which has already been mentioned a couple of times; why shadow accessories? I didn't win any, and I'm kinda glad I didn't, because they'd just be sitting in my wh gathering dust after I'd taken a few screenshots.
If you didnt have a G15 or nostromo to open chests for you, it took 6, 7, 8+ hours to open what you earned doing aoe parties in a day. It was rediculous, if there was no reuse timer on the chest keys it would have been perfect.
No it didnt. There is this thing called ingame macro. Unless you got over 5000 keys a day in your AoE party, I dont see how it could take you so long.
