Topic of the Week: HOT or NOT?
Whether you've played the PTS or not, you've at the very least absorbed a little information about the Kamael. If you haven't heard, one of the unique characteristics of this race is a gender restricted class system. You want to wield the two-handed sword of terror? You roll a male Kamael. You want to stand at the ready with that **** cross bow? You roll a female Kamael.
But what has this done to choice in the game? Are we forcing players into a situation where they have to "gender bend" in order to play a class that they will enjoy?
1) Kamael has less quests to take to become 2nd Class (AFAIK don't play a camel *grin* on PTS.
2) If a player knows he wants to try a Big Sword he rolls a Orc to become Destroyer (i.e.) being a Kamael you just know you need to roll a Male to do that. Eventually you will use the weapon you want.
3) I always play a female so I don't really care which advantage or disadvantage it has. All male chars in Lineage 2 are kinda -insert word- especially Elfs, Kamaels and Humans.
My Destro is male, and my WC is female. In fact, all my buffers are female, and the characters they buff on the other account are all male.
My SH is male, and I have to agree, I can't stand his looks. Playing him is fun, but the *nicest* thing I could say about his looks and mannerisms is that they are twerpy.
I can't say much for the looks of low-level male humans and LEs, and the male LE mystic walk is terrible. But when they get to higher levels and put on better gear, the look gets much better, especially for the human male.
nobody plays a She-Orc fighter/mystic unless Die Hard RPer (including Charmille who recently came out of the closet)
Human Male Mystics are signs of open male hom0sexuality.
Dwarf Girls are all Old Dirty Men looking for pantyshots.
Dwarf Men are all B0tz.
Kamaels are all Females cause Males dont have DD/Tanking/Ranged capabilites.
that should sum it up.
I lol'd :p
And im still laughing out loud.
I'd like to add that *every* Male are signs of open male h0mosexuality. Except for the human male fighter and orc, maybe...
Oh and btw, im curently playing a female orc mystic, yea i like muscular woman :p
If the female orcs just had a bit more junk in back, they'd be really hot :D
Across mmogs, 90% of players are male, iirc. Nick Yee does lots of quasi-empirical studies of us. So if we didn't gender-bend, we'd have a pretty drab landscape on our screens.
I think since Lara Croft, most guys have lost any stigma of an avatar's gender. Unless you're really struggling with repressing some Larry Craig urges...
Female gamers tend to be more sensitive about gender swapping. Myself, I don't see the issue. I'm not an elf/orc/dorf/half-angel in RL, can't hardly cast magic spells, don't get use of BRez scrolls, can't carry 10s of millions of coins without overfull pockets, etc. Male/female seems really minor in comparison.
Lol it was not much of a choice for me...I always have to play female because I am female. I had been stuck in games like Zelda and Dark Cloud where you had to play male (well Dark Cloud did have a few secondary female characters). It was nice to have a female name for a change!
