From November 21 – 26, 2007 monsters in Aden and Elmore will be carrying special items engraved with the letters A, E, G, H, I, L, N, O, R, T, and II.
Collect letters from monsters to spell out the words: LINEAGE II and THRONE. If you turn in these letters to the Event Manager in the villages, you will have a chance to win valuable L2 Day prizes!

They should have the rings be a high chance to get. Would piss off the farmers to no end, because the farmers are the only ones that get it, and don't allow anyone else to get it.

Proves once again that there's plenty of 76+/80+ players who still don't have the slightest clue about anything that's going on in the game... and those are the same people who condemn heroes and endgame pvpers. Comedy at it's best folks! :D
On topic: this event sounds good. In theory. In practise, I think their will be more people who get AQ rings by working the event market, than people who get AQ rings from the event itself. But we'll see :p

I try not think about things like that and just enjoy the game. Till they find a way (like they even trying) block botting programs it's just not going go away. makeing things not tradeable and shadow just plain sucks. NO MORE SHADOW STUFF :mad:
Yea farmers are going make a killing on this but so what so are we and prices will drop from the over run of scrolls......i do agree the timing is bad. This is Thanksgiving weekend.... family time and Black Friday! (yes I will be shopping) so not a real good time 2 do this. Next Weekend would been better.

A bit over 3 hours of intense grinding: about 10 of all the other letters except T or II. Haven't heard of anyone getting them... why screw up the event with ******ed drop rates for the 2 letters needed to complete the words?

Yeah O_o this got me puzzled.. I know nothing comes easy in l2, not even in the events ;) but the lack of IIs and Ts.. is that a bug or are they just really really rare? I honestly don´t think anyone I know on Franz has gotten any..

Okies, what, 5-6hours to the event, not a SINGLE T or II drop for the whole ally or anyone else I know. What is this? Getting T or II is the same as getting a full drop, is that it? You guys forgot to put those 2 letters into the game perhaps?
43 letters for me, intense hunting in IT boss room, not a single T or II for anyone. Even heroes are shouting for any sign of them, lol.
Seriously if the T and II drops are this rare.. no fear of any boss jewels appearing from this event. Did they forget to turn the drop of T and II on or something?
The Euro servers started the event a few hours ahead of the US servers, so Franz and Teon had been going for a bit now and the US servers had just started the event about 30 minutes ago.
You think grinding for 7+ hours to get the letters is reasonable? You can still end up having wind walk buff scrolls or something as valuable as that. Still haven't heard of anyone getting T or II on Teon yet.
Easy? You think 500 letters and not a single T or II is rational? Have you participated in the previous L2 Day events? You could actually MAKE words back then. SEVERAL words with just 1 day of grinding. If the whole server does not get a single T or II during 6 hours of event time, dont you think something is wrong? There's even more full drops during that time lol. Not to mention that the same problem seems to be on Franz too.
The event has been going on for like... 8 hours now of something and still no one has the T or the II. As for making millions of adena its not a very likely reason :P the chance to get the best goodies is super low anyway.. ;) so hmmmmmmmmmmmmmh.. dare we suspect a bug? :)
Bug. Or maybe super stupid "feature". I've played passed NC days. I remember hunting cruma swamp back in C2. Every half hour or so I'd get a II or C or something (NCSoft was second word) and run to town to see reward.
Good times. I still have some of those scrolls.
Anyway we need a new event.
I'd really like to see one of those double exp events korea and china have. Or I'd like to be buffed with kick butt buffs like GM's do there during certain events (cov baby!). I'd really like to see another PvP arena event. I'd like to see something new that does not involve grinding to get things. :( Please lord let the next event not be another grindfest!
Grindfest events...They're okay sometimes but not so frequently as we have been getting. Pigs were cool because they were a bit different. Boring though. My personal favs are the boss ones.
I've been hoping for more lore related quests personally. I don't give a snot about rewards. Just some stuff that pertains to the world we play in would be nice. If you want to add rewards maybe some ancient texts with stories that must be assembled. A little riddle that must be solved after the texts have been assembled. If you get it right you get a reward. If you get it wrong some nasty debuff or something for 2h.
Letters don't drop frop 1/2HP monsters do they ? Because since i changed spot for one of those i didnt get any single letter....
Nevermind as i just got one letter...Sometimes i have plenty of those, sometimes nothing for 30 minutes or a hour....
To those who say "of course II and T are rare, otherwise everbody would get billions of adena from the event": you are aware that even IF you manage to spell a word and turn it in, the chance of actually getting a boss jewel is probably 1/9999999? Most of the time you will get a buff scroll or maybe a EWD ...
So it is not unreasonable to expect to get enough letters for at least a few turn-ins every day.
Ye, when you have several hundred letters and not a single T or II, something is wrong. Either design or code... or BOTH.
But meh, I'm guessing the next staff comment will be after the event since they've all left to celebrate thanksgiving. So, GG, [censored] this. BF2 has more sense of accomplishment than this piece of crap.
About 14 hours or so into the event and still not a single T or II on Teon. Awesome. Someone really forgot to add those to the drop tables or something like that? I don't usually complain about events, but this is ridiculous, we have 9 event items taking up inventory space and no possible way of using them.
Seems like a bug then. I think they forgot to set the two word completers (II and T) to "drop", so all you can get is the common letters.
And like the other pessimists in here I also think that the whole NCSoft crew has gone home for the holiday, so they will probably fix it for the last two hours of the event, if that...
my sources tell me the boss jewels are 100% drop rate once you hand in a word

I have suggestion for NCSoft to use in next event. Prize to recieve - Antharas or Valakas, and phrase to spell: YOU CANT EVEN START TO GUESS WHAT LETTER IS MISSING.

You can do whatever you want, with increased drop rates they would always have more event drops than you, and they will allways sell them because some players have money to spend for that for trying to get top event items, for them or for sale.

I was able to spell LOANER yesterday, does that count for anything? I ended up with a series of L I N E A O R but no T's or II's. .. or H's.. or G's... hm.

HELP! The event is making fun of me. I'm doing AOE and after getting my spoils and loot I notice I have the following:

Thanksgiving Day = Holiday. Weekend = no higher staff on. Same reason why no response on the PTS issues before. Same reason why the boards go wild during weekends and same reason why support is generally lacking during weekends.

if they are on a timer its simply crap, make it doable for every timezone or simply put up no events so those letters I can't trade in without the T or II I won't get won't spam my inventory/hunting ground full. (and no, turn off drop view is no option since I want to pick up other drops)

I don't know how you guys are trading anything in, I can't find any event managers on Lionna. Looks like CT 1 is going to be awesome if this is the introduction.

The point isnt that they are dropping now, its that there are 2 letters that did not drop for the first day and a half of the event. So now no one really needs anything BUT those 2 letters and the event is borked.

Event is launched during a major US holiday = no support on = lots of flack. Only 1 official response = POOR communication and support = lots of flack.

If I suck at math, you're not really a pro then either. The event started at 10 PM on the 21st and ends 10 AM on 26th. That makes 108 event hours. Divided by 24 = 4.5 days. So, lets take the bit over 30h we didnt have, its one third of the event right there. One third to a bug. And unless you're a bot, you need to sleep so yes, we're losing lots more time right there. If you dont count the hours you're sleeping as part of the event, we lost half the event to the drop bug. Simple math and logic. But I think not everyone understands logic.
They drop now but the drop rate sucks, should be like the heart event that was fine. 300 e's and 1 II kinda stupid. Im not asking for a Boss jewel or a hat or enchants just an event thats fun and achievable which im sad to say this is not. The poll after this event gonna make good reading....LOL

I for one, would like to thank NC for screwing up the event. Due to the long wait with no T's and II's, I have made 20ish million on the few drops I've had in the 3 hours or so I played today :)
One question, why in the bloody hell did you need to change for example from "Blessed Scroll of Escape" to "Blessed Escape Event" or something rather. Was that stupid and minute change that important?
Oh I have an Idea, when you make stupid changes to names, how about automatically increasing the Intentory Item and Warehouse item count? erm? how about that...

Solution: make a dwarf, make him get a clan to lvl 1 = loads of storage

I think they did it, just to prevent you from being able to sell quest items for cash to an NPC. I haven't checked em all, but I think on the QHP's and GHP's I noticed that the items all have a ZERO adena value.
With a 0 value, they probably think they can throw a ton of these things around and expect you to just use them and not sell them for quick cash.

Why would someone want to sell those items to a NPC (for a few adenas) when players buy QHPs for 70k each???
If they really wanted to prevent players from making quick cash they could make event scrolls and potions non-tradeable.

They work exactly the same as the ones the Priests of Dawn sell, except they don't stack. Not a big deal to me, but somehow that made them a lot harder to sell than the normal ones. :confused:
I've turned in about 29 Thrones and 13 LineageII's and so far have gotten L2 Day: Artisan Goggles, 2 EWB's, 6 BSOE, 3 BRez, and a ton of buff scrolls.
Now, that was all within about 14 hours of hunting between two days. It seems you need to be really lucky or very dedicated to farming the letters by killing as many mobs as possible quickly.

I've got 1 Blue Diamond Necklace (full drop), 1 EAD from a chest.
I first turned two Thrones and one LineageII and got :
- 2 Scrolls Focus
- 2 Scrolls Haste
- 3 EWC (that's nice)
Then I bought a few letters for other Thrones and got :
- 2 Scrolls of Greater Acumen
- 1 BSOE
So it's rather nice I think. My Dark Wizard went lvl26->lvl29, and I made half a dozen of the quest giving 42k SP meanwhile.
It should be as nice as the pig event in the end I think. I strongly disagree with Liandren.
But of course in order to get letters I have to use an alt. I can't get anything with my bishop. You just have to know it. But after all, there was no XP in pig event so it's the same for my main.
Good event for me, even if I don't get the superhat or the ph4t ring.
What happened? The drop rate seems to have gone straight to hell.
The first night was lousy, the T and II didn't drop at all ... the next day the drop rate was slow, but acceptable ... got to turn in about 13 words.
Tonight though ... I farmed for several hours on a sorcerer alt, killing mobs by the hundreds and got just a single T, and no II. I have every other letter in stacks of 100 or more... I even got a couple full drops, but those letters will not drop.
I understand that the drop rate can't be too high or the event would be too easy and it would destabilize the game economy ... but events are supposed to be -fun-, not exercises in frustration. So far the only thing I can spell is "NEENER NEENER NEENER!" with the hundreds of E and N that I have.
Last night I grinded Giants Cave for many hours and got lots of basic letters but only one II. Today I grinded Shillens Seal or Forbidden Gateway or whatever and got T and II within a few minutes of each other.
the key in events like this is grinding 1/2x or 1x mobs, killing them fast. It's a bit silly on ncsoft's part but all mobs, whether they are x5 85 lvl mobs or x1 5 lvl mobs have the same chances of dropping an event item.
And yeah I ve noticed it too, some times i drop 5-6 IIs and Ts in an hour, other times I can xp for 3 hours on the very same mobs and not drop a single one
One shotting mobs, 2 letters a buff round... still can't complete a word YAY :/

3rd Buff round, 40+ quest items, 5% EXP, No letters

I know the Korean random, but making the same amouth of quest items and EXP in the same amouth of time hunting the same mobs (had a spot of 4 mobs in perfect respawn order), even stranger is that I tried the event for the first time yesterday after 5 days of not playing and I got 2x T within 10min and needed to ask clanmembers for one single R to make 2x THRONE.
2 hours today, I did 4 times the 42k SP quest, I went from lvl 29 to lvl 30. I've go some Cursed Stockings (full drop).
And I got H, R, O, N, E and I, with like 5x R and 1x I.
No T, no II, so no more word. The event ends tomorrow, end of the party, thank you for playing anyway. :(
I didn't start playing the event before T and II started to drop, yet I only lack of T and II to finish a few words.
Why trashcan? It is still a reward, you can still sell it for profit or give it to new players or something.
Bah, trust me, I think he would take more enjoyment out of killing new players than helping them. ;)
Buff scrolls like agility and guidence are pretty useless, I don't blame him for trashing them, but I just store them all on my buffer in case I ever find a use for them.
Why trashcan? It is still a reward, you can still sell it for profit or give it to new players or something.
Who buys guidance or agility? Or might or shield or hell, about any other scroll than emp? Having SE+PP for buffs meself, I dont need the **** scrolls. As to new players, I'll help them only if they're in my clan. And if they're in my clan, I help them in a smarter way. Buff scrolls are junk, especially when you have 3 differently named scrolls of same kind.
I got maybe 6 T's and ZERO II's in 3 days. Total 40% solo on a lvl 7x AW and 5% in a duo at beast farm on my BH. I usually buy some from shops because I like the gamle I guess (6mil blown) but I guess I didn't do too bad.. 12 EWDs, a bunch of buff scrolls, 1 brez and a Bsoe.
Someone mentioned half HP mobs which I tried for about 3 buff rounds and basically got the same as with the 2x.
I got my first T about an hour after Alyra called in the complaint about the T and II not dropping. Went straight to Giran and sold to the highest bidder LOL 5mil. Sold 2 more T's and 6 G's and 1 II later thursday night. Got up friday morning and looked around in Giran and there 5+ shops selling T and II each had more that 50 of each so I haave been turning in the letters ever since. Haven't gotten anything but scrolls mostly shield and focus scrolls. Oh well I did atleast make 14 mil of the event.
All I know is the buff scrolls gotta go. Like I need buff scrolls be happy with just a stupid hat. But all I ever see if Buff scrolls after buff scrolls.

At this ponit, I'm just wondering in how many different ways can they rename the same item :p
Ok i turned in 8 times Throne and 2 times L2 and got buff scrolls and 2 bsoe.
I did not expect to get a ring or a hat but its the 3rd time this event shows up and i only get the same stuff every time.
I suggest rename it in "The letter buff scroll event".
Instead of giving away buff scrolls why not give away materials for crafting ? Like mithril alloy, crafted leather ect. ?
That would be much more usefull and would not benefit players that know where event mobs spawn that drop the mats ( like in past events).
Ok sure you could also get enchant scrolls, rings and hats but really if enchants put in only B A and S grade. If a new player cant use that yet he can still sell them and buy lower grade enchants.
But ok im looking forward to next year for the next buff scrolls ( my collection is growing up ).
I don't complain about drop rate: I got 7 T's, just like I got 7 G's and 8 L's so it's ok. I only got 2 II though but that's life.
I only got scrolls out of the 7 THRONE and 2 LINEAGEII but I don't complain about it either.
So nice event as far as I'm concerned (I didn't play when the T's and II's didn't drop).
Turned another 2x Throne, and you never guess.... I earned 4 times the most worthless buffscroll ever! Scroll Of Shield! WTH! My friend turned in another LineageII and earned a whopping 2x Scroll of Windwalk and she is a lv6x SE, kinda worthless aswell!
One good thing an other friend turned in LineageII and earned Fairy Antennea's which made my EE very happy =P
It's a shame that even the worthless buffscrolls drop. Come on! People only need DW/Focus/Guidance/Empower/Acumen no Shield/Might/WW.
BTW We also noticed, while poling Branded cata, four rooms at a time (CT1 style: VR3 + Live Healer + 2 Polers) and everytime a letter dropped we got it 3/4 times. So when an R dropped we got 4 R's, when an E dropped we got 3 E's. BUT when an T dropped so did one II. It was a good way to form the words but took some time.
Actually got a chance to turn in a few, I got alot of WW scrolls, which do me 0 good as I am a PW and come with my own WW buff....got a few BSOE's, but didnt even sniff a weapon enchant. I also think my toon has the worst "random" modifier in lineage 2 as this particular toon has never succeded a craft or an OE. If I transfer the stuff to other toons, and do it it seems average, but this one is just horrid.
I also find it funny there are stores up in giran with 100+ II's and 100+ T's....

and if you dont want the scrolls, throw away the letters and sell T's and II's for more than any Empower scroll might sell. THIS IS HOW YOU CHOOSE NOT TO PARTICIPATE!

Keep in mind this was an archer grinding and not even playing 12 hours a day lol. More like 6 max. Some days less.
edit : I guess I spelled L2 and throne about 15 times (not each). Tons of buff scrolls (no emp, don't use any of 'em besides maybe agility for fun), also a few Bsoes which I never use, 1 Brez, 3 EWC's, and my best item 1 EWA. My only real complaint is the fact I didn't get any II's or T's the first day and a half or so.
I got some Little Angel Wings which I'll sell and a bunch of scrolls which I'll never use. I was happy for the chance at an AQ ring. All together I turned in about 30 words. My best streak of T's and II's was 14 during four buff sets on my 35 nuker.
